I was not ready to move in to AMV; my wife was. I was wrong; she was right! Asbury has exceeded all my expectations and calmed any concerns I had. Two main reasons: 1) The variety of opportunities--for the mind, heart, and body--is unlimited. We have made many new friends and tons of wonderful new acquaintances. We've restarted yoga, attend lots of the Keese School lectures (I've even given one!), and find that there are simply more things going on for than we have time for each day. 2) While Asbury has enriched my life, it has not limited it in ways I once a worried about a bit. I still do all the same things I used to do before moving in; we keep up with the same friends; I arrange my day as I want. And we now enjoy the profound reassurance that when, hopefully years down the line, things do begin to get rough, Asbury will be on the spot to be the needed first responder. Our kids are spread all across the country; my wife and I both spent way too many weekends during the heart of our professional lives driving five hours to try to provide support to our parents. Because we are at Asbury, our kids will not have to go through what we went through, and that makes us feel very, very good.
