My mom, sister, and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Apropo's. Sindi always is so helpful and goes the extra mile to find just the perfect dress for you! We will definitely return to this shop!

Horrible place. Told us they ordered our dress. We waited and waited. Called to find out what was going on with it. They tell us it is in. We go get it. Come to find out that they gave us the one off the rack. I called to tell them that the dress had a few problems. They tell me to call the maker of the grown. I called them and told them what was going on. They asked me a few questions. Come to find out, they gave us the gown that everyone else has tried on. Also that they are not suppose to sell the gown until after its season. It was a new gown for the 2017 prom season. They company that makes the gown is now calling them to find out what is going on. I would never buy from there again.

Save yourself and your family the trouble and never set foot in Apropos. I ordered a dress from there and paid a substantial amount of money early on to avoid any problems. We endured months of Apropos promising my dress would be arriving soon and giving us a different excuse each time we called. They even went as far as to say my dress was in. We made an alteration appointment and when we arrived, the dress in fact, was not there. They also refused to let us see the floor model when I wanted to match shoes. It was 72 hours before prom and I was without a dress. We now know that, it was that floor sample with several rips and tears, that they planned on passing off as my brand new gown. Not only did they feed us lies, theyvery unprofessionally trash talked a bride and her family directly to my mother and I. We also witnessed a store full of costumers from two different schools being told they were going to be without a dress just two days before their prom. If you do decide to shop here, please note that even if you spend hundreds of dollars you are not allowed to use their restrooms, you must cross a 4 lane highway to use the restroom at the bagel shop. They have removed all reviews from their website, which were mostly negative and shut down their Facebook. Though, the Better Business Bureau rating speaks for itself!!

I cannot begin to tell you how happy we were with the dresses. Everyone was extremely complimentary of them and of course we told them they were from Apropos. I don't think I have ever had the pleasure of working with someone as sweet and professional as Sindi!

My family and myself have been doing business at Apropos for 5 years every time has been a positive and great experience. Cyndi (the owner) has gone above and beyond making sure everything is exactly what we wanted and that the dresses fit exactly as they should. The customer service is top notch!! They deal with thousands of girls every year and still remember our names and dresses we have purchased making us feel our business is appreciated. Thank you Cyndi and your staff for making special occasions even more spectacular!!

Cindy and her team were absolutely wonderful! My daughter, Freda was treated like a princess and found her beautiful Jovani gown with the help of Cindy and team! We couldn't ask for better treatment and attention! We will be back for the next Prom! Love the selection, the owner and the team of girls willing to help with any small detail!

Sindi has a great shop. I found a beautiful dress for my nephew's wedding in Jamaica. Took my sister-in-law there to show her and she got a beautiful dress right off the rack for another wedding. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Sindi has a really great selection of dresses for all occasions. I would go there anytime as I think it is a great place and has beautiful dresses for all at great prices.

Sindi was amazing, and my gals and I all looked amazing at my wedding in the dresses she helped to provide. She remembered me every time that I went into the shop, and was consistently up to date with my needs and dresses. I am so thankful with everything they were able to provide for myself and my bridesmaids.

The best prom dress experience I've ever had! Sindi and her crew really work hard to make it a warm and inviting environment during the stressful search for the perfect dress! I've gone to Apropos for 2 years now and hands down have had the best experience here, they make you feel at home and very comfortable while trying on and getting fitted. They will do anything to make sure you leave satisfied! Absolutely recommend for first time prom goers and anyone looking for a dress for any special occasion!

This place was not open when they said they were. The phone rang off the hook when we tried to call before going and while we were standing outside. Didn't really bother us though we just went along to the next spot. Seems like we were not the only ones with this issue. Lots of other good dress places around. Too bad.

I had THE MOST WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE here. I came in looking for a formal gown for a Marine Corps ball and both the owner and associate took their time to help me find the perfect dress. When the dress arrived early and I came to try it on, I swear they were just as excited to see me in that dress as I was to wear it! They have an extensive and beautiful selection of dresses and are so incredibly helpful and kind. I no doubt will be returning for a dress for my next formal event!!
If you can make it during the weekdays on off times I definitely encourage you to do so. This will give the associates so much extra time to spend helping you out and it makes for a really fun and personal experience!

I came in to Apropos two weeks before my cousin's wedding, whom I was the maid of honor for. Bride & Gown had received a deposit from me months prior and NEVER ordered my dress! I was so stressed out and as soon as I walked through the door the girls at Apropos took that stress away. I picked up my dress a week and a half later and I could not be happier. From the customer service, the attention to detail on my alterations and the fact that it was all a "rush job." I highly recommend Apropos!

DISHONEST ILLEGAL UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS PRACTICES!! DO NOT SHOP HERE THEY WILL RUIN YOUR EVENT!!! My maid of honor and bridesmaid ordered Dessy bridesmaids dresses for my 9/23/17 wedding from Apropos in May. We were told that they would be in at the end of June, then when that came and went the end of July, then the end of August, and finally the beginning of September. When we still had no dresses in hand last week, I started to panic. I asked for tracking numbers which they repeatedly said they just don t have . They have been vague, rude, and unapologetic throughout this entire endeavor. And because they are an atrocious business that doesn t have their act together, they take their phone off the hook so that you can t reach them So yesterday one of my girls received her dress and it appears to be a secondhand completely butchered knock-off dress. It is unwearable. She called Dessy to inquire about the dress and was told that DESSY TERMINATED THEIR CONTRACT WITH APROPOS IN APRIL. No dresses for my girls were ever ordered and yet we are being charged full price for some garbage fake unwearable dresses. I am getting married in FOUR days and will have to have 2 girls in nonmatching random dresses thanks to Apropos lies. It seems that MANY others have encountered similar situations, I only wish I had seen these negative reviews sooner. I am mind blown that they are still in business and it is my sincere hope that they won t be for much longer.

I just visited with Apropos at the new location in Latham Friday. Sindi has STUNNING gowns for prom available. A gorgeous supply of quality designs from great companies. She can get you the gown of your dreams! She is experienced, knowlegeable and I trust her! . . Not only did my sister get all her prom gowns from Apropos (when it was in Amsterdam), but I also got my wedding gown from her. She always went above and beyond for us. Her knowledge of the business and customer service is FANTASTIC. Online news and reviews are important, but not everything is as it seems. There are a lot of negative things flying around right now. All I can say is Shop around for yourself and see what Apropos has to offer! You won't be disappointed!

We ordered bridesmaid dresses here, and if I had known how awfully we were going to be treated I would have ordered my dress online. I hate that I have to give them any more of my money. The women who work here are rude - every time we went in there we were treated like we were taking up their precious time. As all of the bridesmaids are out of town, we had to make appointments on weekends and they were always rude and unaccommodating about us taking up time on weekends with fittings. We were constantly treated as if we were not as important as their prom customers, although based on other reviews of prom customers being treated this way as well I honestly have no idea how they're still in business.

While Cindi is very personable... and helpful at providing me multiple dresses to try on...I would not recommend this place esp if your buying a dress for a big event. While The dress i chose was beautiful and even though I tried it several times before purchasing at the store and had Cindi zip it up for me.. she didn't tell me the back portion of the dress wouldn't clasp. It was too small in the back section. Obviously i couldn't see the back section of the dress yet she still said nothing to me before i purchased the dress. It was able to zip up just fine but it would not clasp around my chest and back.

It wasn't until I went to go get the dress hemmed because it was too long, the lady at the alteration place saw the strap for the back just hanging down even after i was zipped up. I had no idea there was a strap. When she tried to clasp the strap together she couldn't. It was too SMALL around my back. It could zip up but the two parts that were supposed to clasp together along my back were squeezing my chest so tight i could barely move.

I couldn't comfortably wear the dress to the wedding unless i had it altered. So on top of the $200 i paid for the dress i had to pay almost $100 in alterations ($75) because it was a sequined dress and $25 so the seamstress could add a tie around my neck to hold the dress up so the flaps weren't just hanging down.

I 100% would of not purchased the dress if i had known this prior but unfortunately making a sale is more important for some people then honesty or making the situation right.

I texted Cindi letting her know what was going on because she texted me after the purchase to tell me how nice the dress would look. When I explained the problem she completely denied it and took no responsibility in what actually happened. She also stopped texting me.

If you want honest customer service and great quality dresses I would seriously reconsider going here.

I would NEVER purchase nothing from this store eve...

I would NEVER purchase nothing from this store ever again ,we ordered 8 dresses on November 2015 ,for a July 23 2016 wedding the dresses never came in till the week before ,one girls dress came in the Thursday before the wedding and it didn't fit ,she wore it long enough to walk down the Isle and a few pictures and had to take it off. Every time we called to see if the dresses were in we got nothing but lies, they were either in transit or in the warehouse. The staff was very rude ,told us it was not there problem, as the Mother of the bride I ordered my dress July of 2015 and also ordered a jacket to go over my dress ,they called and told me it was in ,when I went there for my fitting, they told me the owner that my Jacket was with the seamstress, why would my jacket be with the seamstress when I haven't even tried it on.I spent 113.00 for this jacket and they made it out of the shaw that came with the dress, they think I was dumb, well I was didn't say anything because the other girls dresses weren't in and I didn't want trouble ,as they were very rude and didn't care what STRESS they were causing all of us and all the extra trips we has to made ,because we didn't live in Albany ,u don't care to hear your excuses hear enough of them ,just know I have a daughter getting married and we WILL NOT BE GOING HERE .

Well I have been trying to get through to the owner of this shop as I paid half down on our daughter's prom gown for last June only to find out that the school cancelled the event due to Covid; only to find out that the shop is Temporarily closed! How do we get our money back or talk to this owner? The owner never reached out to us to even let us know the dress was in, or made contact with us after the deposit was made. I am very disappointed in how all of this was handled. I guess I will have to reach out to the Better Business Bureau.

Continuous B/S from the owner. Same story every week for months - they'll be here next week. Twice, she attempted to convince bridesmaids that the floor models were their actual dress. Now, two weeks from the wedding and she continues to lie and say the dresses are coming but can't provide any documentation on the order. Confronted Sindi today for neglecting to place the order for the 5 bridesmaid's dresses. Her response " I want to punch you in the face" and " I don't care when your wedding is". Total theft of service.

This is our second year working with Apropos for prom. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. My daughter came in with a picture and they offered suggestions that not only met our expectations, but exceeded them. Although they were busy, they spent time looking for a dress they thought would work for my daughter. It was the perfect dress and we bought it!

Absolutely terrible. I'd give them less than 1 if I could. If anyone wants to know my personal experience, message me. It's way too long of a tragedy story that happened to my dress. Long story short they ordered me the wrong dress and Sindi, the owner had the audacity to believe it was our fault Yeah ok like I would buy an ugly dress that I didn't like for 900$ yep ok. I ordered a two piece Sherri hill green and black floral dress. I come in for the fitting and somehow she freaking ordered me a one piece red Jovani dress. How does that sound or look similar? She claimed WE ordered the wrong dress. Stop LYING SINDI! Also, she claims she's being bullied by all the people giving bad reviews. That's embarrassing because she can't take any type of criticism. TERRIBLE business practice. Own up and be an adult. Just look at the way she replies to her customers on here. She's a bully. I also see she gave herself a good review on here belittling another customer! And you wonder why your business has an F rating from the BBB.

Where do I begin.... the messy unorganized store, The poor ownership and mismanagement, Rotten customer service, inflated prices.
The owner was dishonest about the dress we ordered. Tried to give us a floor sample in a 10 that was damaged, my daughter is a 4, And this was after waiting 7 weeks for the dress to "arrive". We requested a reorder of a new dress in her size. After being told my daughter is too fat for the size we asked for she told us she would not alter it in any way after arrival. We waited another week only to find out she did not reorder and did not seem to want to. We had already paid in full and had no dress. She kept telling us that the company sends them damaged and takes forever to ship, it's not their fault. Refused to show proof of an order or any shipping info. so we demanded a refund to purchase elsewhere. We were able to purchase the exact dress at another shop much cheaper and it arrived in perfect condition within 3 days.
This woman should not be in business, I was not the only person in there with an issue. She is robbing people of money and ruining a special event for many young girls. Avoid this place!!! There are many other dress shops that will happily order the dress you want.

I bought my sister's bridesmaid dress there. Mistakenly paid for it in full when I ordered it. When it came in, they had ordered a size 4 rather than the size 8 that they should have ordered. Then, when they "reordered" it, they still got the wrong size, removed the tags and possibly altered the dress. My wedding is in 38 days and my sister still doesn't have a dress. Apropos is a horror. DO NOT GO THERE. They refuse to refund our money and only offer store credit. This is literally the worst shop I have ever been to. Avoid it at all cost.

To be fair they do have a great selection of dresses.

It's all downhill from there. After taking measurements and ordering a dress which took 3 months to come in, with a week left until the event, the dress they ordered was at least 2 sizes too small with no possibility of altering. That took 3 fitting visits to determine.

Their solution was to find another dress off the rack which they did. It was acceptable, not at all what my daughter wanted but with 3 days until her prom and a huge non refundable deposit paid, what choice was there?

They did rush the alterations on the substitute gown, but made me pay full retail for the gown. No accommodation for their screw up on the initial order. When I questioned the price of the gown as we had seen it for over $100 less on the Internet, the clerk condescendingly told me that gown was probably a knockoff from China. Guess what the tag inside our gown says --- Made in China!

In short we now have a gown that we didn't order and don't like, that we paid full price for. Do yourself a favor and choose another shop for a special occasion gown.

We have bought two dresses from them now and both times they were really nice and helpful when we picked out the dress but the service is kind of bad afterwards. They say that they will call you when it comes in and give you an approximate date but they don't. You have to call them. They seem overwhelmed there. You have to stay on top of them.

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! unless you want to spend hours of your time in a court room trying to get your money back. I went to Apropos in August of last year and I didn't know the real name of it (since it was under a different name on Google and she still has the faded sign from the previous place outside). I had no idea that once I purchased my wedding dress there that my life would revolve around getting my money back and going to court. When I bought the dress I received a handwritten receipt with the name Apropos at the top. My mom happened to look it up when we got home and I saw all the horror stories about people not getting what they ordered from her. I knew I had to stay ontop of Sindi to make sure she ordered the dress since there were no refunds. I asked her for a tracking number and she said she couldn't provide me with one so I decided to look into the order myself. She never gave me the name of the designer or the style number of the dress so I searched online until I found the right one. When I went into her store to ask her for the name and the style number so I could show my family and friends I had to ask several times to get the information. Once I confirmed I had found the right dress online I contacted the company directly and they told me that Apropos had CANCELLED their business with them in JANUARY of that year!!! and for me to get my money back because whatever dress she ordered was NOT legit. I confronted Sindi that I knew she didn't order the dress and she told me a third party ordered it which I never agreed to. She insisted they would call me and give me the information I wanted about the dress but she refused to give me their name or number. I waited for the phone call and every time they failed to call me she kept making excuses like they were out of town or something. I had had enough at this point so I filed a lawsuit against her since she could not and would not prove to me that she ordered my wedding dress. She of course counter sued me and lost. If this has happened to you or you just ordered a dress from her I would do your own research like I did. I ordered the same dress from somewhere else and It was beautiful on my wedding day. Don't let her ruin your event!!!

I saw several beautiful dresses but they were not worth buying due to the rude service. It was very unorganized and it was too small of a space for all the dresses they held. You could barely walk around and they supposedly had a bathroom that did not work when really they did not want you using it. This one woman even let my whole behind show in front of a group of people. There were barely any places to sit and I would highly recommend not wasting your time here.

If you walk in, you can very easily walk out with a beautiful dress perfect for you. Very large selection to choose from

Not only was the owner RUDE to me and my family, the floors were disgusting and we had to take our shoes off upon entering.
There was a decent selection, however it was really tight and claustrophobic, and the owner was just rude.

When I approached the owner instead of apologizing for her mistake, she proceeds to tell me that the designer only makes 1 color... when the designer website offers 3 colors. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I bought a dress that cost $800 as they said it was "new" this season... I waited THREE months for the dress to come in from the manufacturer, when it arrived I went in for alterations... I requested to have very little taken off the bottom due to the beautiful design But my opinion was rudely ignored.. Two weeks after alterations and less than a month before prom my dress was ready to be picked up... there was a hole below the zipper which had not been there previously, the hem on both my shoulders and the bottom was completely crooked, and the Swarovski Chrystal's that are imbedded into a plastic liner were lifting off of the dress as if the dress has been singed by heat. I simply pointed out the new and incredibly obvious flaws of my dress, but was once again IGNORED. Later I stated that this dress had simply depreciated in value after its stay with their facility, and she responded with, the dress looks the best it is going to get.... an $800 dress, looks the best it's going to get? with a hole, and many obvious flaws? HORRIBLE! I would NEVER return or recommend this location to ANYONE.

This occurred in July 2015. We were there for a bridedmaid's dress fitting. Everything went like clockwork. The staff were pleasant, prompt and competent. It is a larger new storefront in Guilderland. I would definitely recommend this store.

The product is low quality and available on the web, the prices are very high for the quality of product and unfortunatly this staff is extremely unprofessional, rude and very difficult to work with. Read other reviews on Yelp, Wedding Wire, and Facebook. Do not shop here with your daughter unless you are narristic!!

I rarely give reviews - good or bad - but I think ...

I rarely give reviews - good or bad - but I think this place deserves one. I have been to this shop a few times, most recently for a bridesmaid dress (the bride was not local and asked that we wear a specific brand/designer, which Apropos carries). Every time I have been to this shop, whether they are busy or not, I've been treated as if I'm not there. They literally stick you and the dress(es) in a changing room and then forget about you - you have to go find them when you have a question or need their help with fitting, etc. Very poor customer service. When they have helped me (after I found them and asked) I've found them to be rude and almost disrespectful, like I'm wasting their time (again, whether the store is busy or dead). Also, the place is a mess. I realize there are tons of dresses (which is definitely a plus) but I feel like the staff can't find anything - the dress binders, the appointment book, the customer profiles, etc. It's always a mad search when they need to pull information, just adding to the stress of the situation - which is maybe why the saleswomen are so cranky to customers.

Awful experience. Would caution anyone from shopping here for prom, ball or bridal wear. The overall lack of professionalism was appalling. When spending upwards of $800 for a prom dress it would seem important to let the customer know dress was delayed and not being shipped until week of prom with no guarantees. Mind you dress was ordered with a 10 week lead. When trying to contact store to inquire about order was told I was not their only customer, also told there were 30 people standing in line for their dresses in same situation. Major mismanagement if that is the case! Google forced one star but they deserve none!!

Do you and your bridal party enjoy being stressed out, talked to condescendingly over the phone, being given the run around and wondering if your dress will be ready in time for the big day? If so, have I got the place for you!

While myself and the majority of my bridesmaids are located in Texas, several of my girls are out of state - including my Maid of Honor in NY. My maid of honor opted to buy her gown from Apropos in Albany for convenience. The gown was ordered as the same time as the rest of the bridesmaids' in August. However, come mid-October all of my bridesmaids EXCEPT the one from Apropos are delivered and my maid of honor's dress is nowhere to be found.

After advising her to call and check on the dress, my maid of honor was given the run around. Calls were either not taken, messages not returned, and Apropos was all around impossible to get a hold of. Finally, I managed to get a hold of the shop - probably because they didn't have my number on file. I was advised by a woman that she would contact the purchaser (the owner) and call back.

Yeah, no call back.

My maid of honor got in touch and found out the dress wasn't due to ship until December 1. WHAT? In what world does a dress ordered in August for a December 18 wedding not ship until the 1st? I called right away and got in touch with the owner who proceeded to berate me and raise her voice to me.

She insisted that I just didn't understand how bridesmaids dress ordering worked, that these weren't off the rack dresses - they were made to order. As if with 7 total bridesmaids and my own gown I had no idea that these weren't stock items. When I clarified that yes, I understood the dress needed to be made but that my other girls had ordered at the same time and all received their gowns from the local shop in Texas she became defensive. She insisted that because of my maid of honor's size the dress had to be further customized. Never mind that my bridesmaids are all shapes and sizes and a similarly sized bridesmaid had received her order.

When I told her, given the negative reviews on Yelp, Google, and The Knot that I was not entirely trusting when she said 'It'll be here!' she told me that the other frantic brides and bridesmaids who left reviews were 'crazy'. I'm not kidding.

I'm almost certain that my maid of honor's dress was not even ordered until she called to check on it.

Don't go here. Your wedding should not have this amount of stress and no one deserves to be treated so rudely.

I had a terrible experience with my daughter's prom dress. We ordered it 10 weeks before her prom - it came in 3 weeks before her prom - we live 1 hr and 20 minutes away - we drove down for the fitting, they put her dress in the fitting room and walk away - I go and find the sales lady and ask if the additional crinoline that we order came in. "Oh why didn't I check that before I had you drive all the way down here" was the answer I received!!! She offered to call first thing on Monday to check on it - and to mail it directly to me once she got it. So I took the dress home hoping once we got it, it won't need to be hemmed. It is now 4 days until my daughters prom and still no crinoline and I called two days ago to ask for a tracking # and they said they would call me right back with it. I haven't heard for them yet and the phone at the store is always busy. Poor poor customer service. Oh I final just got thru to them and they haven't even mailed it to me yet!! I was told last Tuesday when I called them that it was in and they were mailing it right out!! What a joke !! I don't care that they have the best selection around - I will never order another prom dress from this store ever again

I literally would give negative stars if I could. My sister ordered a Sherri Hill dress from Sindi. She wanted a blue dress style 51636. After measuring my sister, the woman should have informed her that unfortunately it did not come her size. Instead, she purchased the dress from the supplier and sewed on loops and added string to to tie to make it seem like the dress fit. It only went up to a size 14, so Sindi cut out the size in the dress and added a size 20 tag with a different style number. We then looked up the style number and noticed it was a COMPLETELY different dress. The dress did not come with strings on the back and when we went to return the dress since Sindi is a FRAUD, she tried to say the "plus size" is a different style and it "wasn't released on Sherri Hill's website". Unless you are a small woman and are able to purchase something from the store directly without being ordered, I would stray far away. And honestly even if you could fit into a dress in the store, why would you want to support a shop that has an F with the Better Business Bureau and tries to sucker young prom-goers and brides out of their hard-earned money? She is a fraud and a thief. The only thing I can say is that she did refund my sister's money, but only after we brought our whole family into the store and confronted her with her lies and deception.

I had a terrible experience.
I'm all about small business and at first I was happy to buy my wedding dress here. Soon after I had complete regret for walking in this place. It's a hoarders dream palace of unorganized in bad shape sample dresse's. I decided to look past all that because the staff was very friendly.
When I paid my first half of my dress to proceed with the ordering the paperwork stated the dress would be in store in early march. I was told my staff it would be in and to make an appointment for my fitting that same day.
My dress didn't come in to the store till June. Two days before my wedding. I had to have my sleeves made without the dress to see how it would look. My very first fitting was the two days before the wedding and there was absolutely no time to change a single thing.
There was much more added stress that I choose to forget.
All around a terrible experience and I would not recommend to anyone unless it was my worst enemy. I wish I checked review's first and looked around the are for other shops.
I would expect the chances of this happening to someone else to be very high. I spoke to a few different women that told me they knew someone who also had a bad experience here.

Well, Prom's supposed to be that one night where you feel like a princess- or something like that. So, when I went dress shopping in January, I found the perfect dress at Apropos. My mom and I ordered it on February 11th, expecting to get the dress early and beat all the other prom traffic. Wrong. We began inquiring about the whereabouts of my dress around early April, and Apropos fed us excuse after excuse. "It'll be here next week!" "Next shipment!" "It's in Texas!" This went on from April until the Monday before my prom. I've waited for this dress from February 11th until May 16th. On that Monday, we were told that it would be in the next day and I was to come after school. Instead, my mom and I went later that night to try on "my dress." What I actually tried on was a dress not one, not two, but FOUR sizes too small! Not only did it not zip or close virtually anywhere (I had to physically hold it together to not expose myself- it was mortifying), but it was also SNAGGED and STAINED! It had to be some sort of display dress they tried to sell us for $700 at the last minute but my mother wasn't having it. If I had went after school by myself, I probably would have let them take advantage of me and "fix" this piece of trash dress. We ended up getting a full refund but needless to say, my heart was broken. I had done so much to prepare for this dress for my SENIOR PROM and I was thoroughly let down. I did actually buy a backup dress in advanced and I'll be wearing that tonight, but still. I understand that you have an exceedingly high amount of customers but this prom season but it should be your goal as a business to make sure everyone leaves your store satisfied and what they paid for. It's called basic customer service. Not every customer will be happy- that's unrealistic- but you would definitely have less crying girls and raging parents if, well I dunno, you did your job!

Awful experience. My bridesmaids ordered their dresses from Sindi and they never came in time when she said they would. She kept assuring us that they would be there in time. She lied every time we called her. We ended up shopping for different dresses less than a week before my wedding. So stressful! If I could I would give her a 0. Don t get your dresses there!

I purchased my mother of the groom dress at Apropos. At every step of the process, I felt my satisfaction as a customer was important to Sindy, the owner. I was very pleasantly surprised that every time she saw me, she immediately recognized me and remembered what I was shopping for, and later, what I had purchased. When the manufacturer sent the wrong dress, she was on top of the situation immediately, and made sure that on the day of my son's wedding, I was wearing the dress I wanted, altered the way I needed. I would go back to Apropos in a heartbeat for any occasion dress I need.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! If your looking to do business here DONT!!! They have a lot of dresses to look at but as far as customer service and professionalism......there isn't any.. I ordered my daughters prom dress there beginning of March. Asked first before having them order it when we could expect it to be in as we lived 2 hours away and needed to prepare for possible alterations and pick up. Was told it would be no later than 4 weeks and that if we bought the dress there alterations were free by one of the teenage employees Hahahaha what a joke. Dress never arrived until 1 week before prom this was after numerous phone calls were made and NEVER returned , (the phone is off the hook so you cant even get through). Then was told "they can't control the mail or when the companies they order from ship the dresses out". Based on my daughters measurements she should have been ordered a much smaller size. The dress was way to large. Made an appointment for alterations and was very specific that they needed to be completed that day as we were days away from prom now and this was the only day we had to make the 2 hours trip there . "Oh yes" they said "we have someone here to do those for you." After the owner proceeds to HACK away at the bottom of the dress with scissors put in a few pins and say" ok we can have it finished by Thursday night." Not what was agreed upon at all. Advised them I wanted my money back as we couldnt make it Friday thats why we had an appointment today. The owner then says *,alterations are done off site and doing them today isn't even possible." Yet another emoyee starts chanting repeatedly" no refunds!! " And especially now because the dress has been cut. Really hacked was more like it and yes it was done right then as we were told the alterations would be done that day. Then the employee who told us yes they had someone there to do the alterations today told us she misunderstood what we wanted. And then another employee said alterations were not included that that was last year's policy and not this year's. None of the employees are on the same page as to what's is even going on and neither is the owner. She telks you one thing and then denies it. Then with all of this .....the owner left to go back in her office throwing her arms in the air and said you have 2 options. Pick up the dress Friday. ( One day before prom) or we will mail it to you. Hahahaha mail it!!! I wouldn't trust them at all!! Especially one day before prom. This was just a bit of the HORRIBLE experience that was encountered. My daughter was crying as her over $500.00 dress was huge, hacked and no time to do alterations and not one of the employees or owner even attempted to make any of it right. As I was leaving there was yet another lady was with her daughter waiting in line saying how sorry she was and they were going through the same thing with them. RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.!!!!

This is the second prom dress that I have purchased through Apropos. We have had a very professional and personal experience each time! The owner is always patient and tries to find exactly the look you want. The dresses are stunning and my daughters were thrilled with their choices and received many compliments. The person recommended to do the alterations was also wonderful to deal with. Thank you so much for another great experience at Apropos! I would not hesitate to send anyone to your shop!

If I could give this place a freaking zero, I surely would. I ordered my daughter's prom dress on February 11, 2016 so that I would be ahead of the game and be ready and set for my daughter's Senior Prom! Well today is May 16, 2016 and the prom is May 20, 2016 and I have no dress!!! I've never once received a phone call from this place. I started calling there on April 07, 2016 and was told the dress will be in by Mid April. Didn't hear anything about the dress. Went to the store on April 30, 2016 and was told the dress was placed in the last shipment and should arrive shortly. I Never heard anything. I went back to the store on May 07, 2016 and was told they have no control over when the manufacture sends or ships, but I was told the dress was in Texas! Really. Well today is May 16, 2016 and I still haven't heard a word from this place. I've been calling only to get a busy signal. At this point, I want my money back. I am truly disappointed. What a horrible experience.

The owner went on vacation after we had ordered bridesmaid dresses, which would have been fine, but she was gone until 10 days prior to the wedding, with no way of being contacted and no message that she would be gone or for how long. We had to look for other options in the meantime, even though we already paid for the dresses at this store.

When I mentioned it to her, she was not apologetic for causing us so much undue stress by not communicating her vacation. She only said that her competition also took vacations.

Please save yourself the time and money and go elsewhere.

This place deserves ZERO stars. Ordered my dress on February 4th and was told it would be in sometime in August. After multiple phone calls to see the status of my dress it is now DECEMBER 1st and I still don't have it. Now my mother calls to ask for her deposit back...they call me back instead of her "claiming" they tried to call me twice in November....funny how my phone has never rung with their number until TODAY nor did I ever receive a voicemail....hmmmmm...... Moral of this story: Don't bring your business there! You will be disappointed and left with no dress for your event!

Went there with my friends. Not a dress over a size 8. Also after I went there I realized Sindi has 8-9 lawsuits against her for fraud. DO NOT GO THERE. Horrible customer service scammed on dresses, makes fake dresses and horrible shop. Not sure how you sleep at night scamming people because you can t sell dresses. Also super pricey. Please stay away and be aware of what can happen. Plenty of other prom gown places In the area!

If I could I would give this place a ZERO. Absolutely horrible experience. I ordered my dress in April and then was told it was going to be in in November. Then in November I called and they told it got delayed until December. When I asked what size they ordered me they told me three sizes smaller than what I would have needed. I said that is absolutely wrong and she said oh what size did you need, told her and she goes I read my hand writing wrong I actually ordered that size. Complete lies. When I picked up the dress and took it home and it has spots and is dirty as well as the bag they gave it to me in was completely filthy. My mother called and complained and they tried blaming us. I am fully convinced they did not even order me a new dress and just gave me the dirty old sample. BRIDES BEWARE! Planning a wedding is stressful enough, don t add more stress by getting your dress here. This place needs to be shut down!

I bought my prom dress here last year and had an unexpectedly terrible experience. Choosing my dress was fantastic, the staff was very supportive and helped me make a super tough choice between my two favorites. After this step, though, I wish I had taken my dress somewhere else. I was measured the day I bought my dress, and waited around 3 months for it to come in, which is understandable. This was not the issue. Once it came in, I went for my alterations about a week and a half before prom. Mind you, I had not gained or lost any weight since I had bought the dress (with medical proof). When I tried it on, the dress was nowhere near close to fitting. I believe the lady I worked with attempted to order a size down with the assumption that I would try to lose weight before my prom. After this, they promised to rush order the dress in a size up that would fit after alterations. Four days before my prom, I received a call saying the dress was not available and I would be refunded and would have to buy a new dress or somehow impossibly squeeze in the other dress. This was devastating. The woman who did alterations was able to take out almost every seam of the top of the dress to fit my chest and stomach in. Still, my legs were squished as it was a mermaid style dress. I was heartbroken when my fun at prom was dampened because I couldn't move, sit, or dance in my dress. I will NEVER shop here again because I cannot trust that this won't happen. I recommend either taking your dress somewhere else to get altered, or specifically asking to have your true size ordered.

I would hands down give this business a full 10 stars as a client of many years and many dresses if I could. Sindi has helped me look my best for every occasion every time, with close attention to concerns and detail. The options and styles are endless as she has the widest selection in the area. I walked in for yet again another purchase of a gown, but for this time a much more special event. Sindi takes the time to know her clients, I had no idea when I walked in to her store last year that she would ask if I was in fact, Ms. Cubello of Guilderland high school.. years after my last purchase for prom in 2009 she had STILL remembered my name, face, and the purple Jovani gown that she sold me many years ago. She asked about the dress and the cruise dinner. She even knew the occasions of which the dress was worn at the time. It was not only prom but a formal dinner gown on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Her memory blew me away. I had no idea out of the thousands of girls she meets each year that she would remember her experience with me.
Last prom season I saw the dedication and the determination of Sindi Saita to make each girls wish come true. So many dresses came in and left in one prom season. I couldn't believe the amount of girls who would often travel more than 2 hours just to shop our selection. I can't speak enough great things about the woman behind the shop. She is a miracle worker. After working alongside Sindi I couldn't help but feel inspired. I too wanted every girl of every school to feel truly one of a kind, special, and complimented by the gowns they chose to dance the night away in.

I was originally worried about going to Apropos after reading some of the reviews, but I had absolutely no problems at all. I went there for a dress for the Marine Corps Ball. Everyone was so helpful, and my dress looks amazing. Apropos has such beautiful dresses and I'd definitely recommend going.

I never leave bad reviews about a business, but the unprofessionalism I have experienced at Apropos was too much not to speak out on. I ordered a new dress from this business the first week of April of this year and paid in full. Apropos called me on June 29th stating that my dress was in and ready to pick up. I went to the store on June 30th to look at the dress. There were loose strings all over the dress, the belt loop was broken and the brand tag did not look like it had been professionally sewed in. It looked as if this was a sample/floor dress that had been tried on numerous times. The owner claimed that this is how the dress was received from the manufacture. She also stated that these conditions were normal and that they could fix them. The owner then offered to give me another customer's dress that she was expecting to come in later that day (I repeat Another Customer s Dress). Giving me another customer's dress was the only alternative offered by the owner, no refund was provided. I have read many other reviews where customers have claimed and/or believe that they were sold a used floor sample dress from Apropos instead of the brand new dress that they ordered and paid full price for. I left the store that day without the dress that Apropos tried to sell me and immediately filed a dispute with my credit card company. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the AG s Office which I would recommend to anyone else who has experienced the same thing. The level of unprofessionalism and, quite frankly, fraudulent acts by this business is disgusting.

Because it was so horrible and because I sincerely do not want anyone else to have to experience what I did, I am reposting it here. I also want to note that they DID respond to this review and tried to lie and blame me for the poor experience. Absolutely horrendous customer service:

Apropos Bridal took the joy out of purchasing my wedding dress. Initially, they were friendly and helpful as I chose a dress. Once the deposit was made, however, everything changed. I ordered my dress in June 2013 for my October 2014 wedding - theoretically, plenty of time, as I was told the order would take about 6 months. January rolled around - I hadn't gotten a call. I called in February or March - my dress would be in "the end of this week or next week." I should have received a call in DECEMBER telling me my dress was late. I should have also received a follow up call to tell me my dress had arrived - that never happened. I finally called in late April, just to schedule a visit with my dress - no fittings, no alterations, nothing time or labor intensive - I just wanted to see how my shoes would look with the dress. I was told I could not get an appointment until June - prom season. Surprised, but understanding that prom is nutty, I agreed and thought that was the end of it. But then I spoke to someone else in the wedding dress business who was shocked and appalled that I hadn't seen my wedding dress yet with only 5 months to go before the big day. If ANYTHING was wrong with this dress, there was no time to reorder it, and I was kind of stuck. I called back again, hoping to make a very simple appointment, and be out of their hair in 15 minutes. Ultimately, I spoke with Sindi - who was brusque, rude, unhelpful and had me in tears by the time I was done speaking with her. She made me feel like I was crazy and unreasonable for wanting to see my dress. She made me feel like a villain because she implied that I thought she was lying about being busy. I don't believe wanting to see a dress I had purchased a YEAR PREVIOUSLY for a wedding in FIVE MONTHS is unreasonable. I caution everyone to stay far, far away from Apropos Bridal. It isn't worth them sucking the joy from the experience.

Dresses were ordered for my bridesmaids at least two to three months ago, they lost one of my girls measurements, she had to drive an hour and a half back to get remeasured, i am now 23 days to my wedding, and still no dressesn i am beginning to freak out, especially if alterations are needed. At this point, dresses should be the least of my worries.

They had scheduled about 10 people for the same time and were very rude when I asked them why they had me waiting an hour. The owner (Sindi) went above and beyond to make my mother's MOB wedding dress experience perfect. She was the only shop who would custom order a dress my mom found on Pinterest. During my mother's fitting, she took a personal interest in my sisters wedding and shared her love of the CT shoreline (where we live nearby). I bought 2 prom dresses from her when I was in high school (15 years ago!) and we still find ourselves going back to her. Thanks Sindi, to you and your team, for a wonderful shopping experience.

I would absolutely NEVER shop here again. The girls were helpful when we chose the dress, but it's been terrible since. After being told that the dress should come in at the beginning of April, I hadn't heard anything. I started calling weekly to check on the dress, was left on hold for long periods of time, and was told I would get a call once it came in. During many of these phone calls I also tried to make payments and was told numerous times that their credit card machine was down. Well about 3 weeks before prom I stared calling every other day only to be told 11 days before prom that the thought it might be in a box in the warehouse. I received a phone call a short while later stating that they had the dress. We live 2.5 hours away from the store so the associate asked if I wanted it shipped to me. When I asked if I was going to be charged she stated that normally they charge but under the circumstances she wouldn't charge me. Another associate then told me that they had to charge me $20 for shipping. I explained to her that I was told I wouldn't be charged. I asked numerous times to speak with a manager or the owner and was told that they were not available. After a heated conversation about their terrible customer service, I was told that I wouldn't be charged for shipping and I authorized the balance of the dress to be charged to my card. As I sit here today checking my bank account, the charges went through for $20 more than the amount that I authorized. And of course I'm trying to call the shop and the phone just rings and rings. That being said, it is illegal to charge someone's card for an amount that they did not authorize. So we will see where this goes.

Alright so im a Junior and this year was my prom, I went to this place and found such a beautiful dress that i fell in love with. Well after paying 600$ for that dress they dont tell me when its coming in. I tried contacting them a couple weeks before my prom and they would never answer the phone and when they did they were VERY RUDE. so whatever when my dress came in we went down to go try it on and get alterations and my appointment was at 4:30 and so was 10 other girls. so driving an hour and half down there i was down there till 6:30 at night. They were very rude. DONT GET ALTERATIONS THERE.

I didn't even want to write a review because I'm not sure if it's worth my time and the inconsiderate and rude employees here do not care. I decided to write this to save another girl from going through my experience with Apropros. I went to Apropros 3 times throughout my dress shopping experience. Day one, I found "the dress" though I wasn't prepared to order that day so they said they'd hold it for me for up to two weeks and I could come back and get it. That sounded great for me. I came back maybe 6 days later with friends to show them the dress and when I got there, they said it was already sold and that they never told me they can hold dresses. Which is wrong because I was told by a sales associate that they could and watched the dress be put on a separate rack off of the floor of other dresses. Whatever, I didn't care too much because after they told me they sold the dress they said they were saving for me, I found another dress that i loved even more. I left the store and came back the next day with my parents to purchase the dress. The next day, were in store and I decide on this dress. As I was standing on the pedistol I was wondering if my dress came in any other colors just so I could see them and make sure the color and style was exactly what I wanted. When I said this, a sales associate began telling me the similar styles and colors that were made like my dress. She described one design and when she said it, another person said "No, someone from your school alresdy has that dress" I tried on, fell in love with and was about to purchase a dress very similar to a dress that someone else from my school had and nobody told me until I was about to make the final decision? I remember trying on a dress previously and they said "no you can't get that someone from your school has a similar one" I appreciate that they do this to avoid anyone from getting the same dress but they told me as I was making my final decision. I go to a very small school and I knew that it would look ridiculous if I was wearing a similar dress to someone else and it would be obvious too. I began to get emotional as the dress I had my heart set on was no longer an option for me as I looked around the store for anything I'd love as much. At this point, I was looking through the racks as an employee walked up to me and said "I don't know why you're crying it's not a big deal" and then walked away. At this point I was so angry with these people I decided to get my dream dress dispite the horrible way I was treated and that my dress would be similar to another at my prom. When we go to purchase the $700 dress, they told us there's a chance I could be wearing the sample dress other girls have tried on countless times. I did not like this and neither did my parents, the ones paying for my dress, so we asked because I'm getting a sample dress, could we get a discount. They said no. We paid $700 with a chance I'm getting a sample dress. Since I order my dress, it has been 2 months. We called and FINALLY got through to someone and they told me my dress would be available May 5th. I called on May 4th to confirm before making the hour drive to Albany but when I called the second time, they told me they have no idea when my dress is coming in. My prom is in 3 weeks, they have no idea when my dress is coming, I still have to get it fitted, match it to my boyfriends tuxedo, get my hair and makeup consultation done to make sure it matches and get shoes. The moment they call and say my dress is in, I am going there and getting it and they will NOT be doing my fitting. I will not leave my dress in the hands of these people again. They have made my entire prom experience incredibly stressful and hectic. I am delayed on doing so many things because my dress is still not in two months later. If my dress is not in by next week (2 weeks before my prom) I will be calling and getting a full refund and going somewhere else. PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR DRESS HERE THEY ARE SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL THEY RUN A HORRIBLE BUSINESS AND I REGRET SPENDING MY TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT

EXTEREMLY unprofessional! It's a mess the floor is filthy. There's no place to sit while you wait for your loved one to try things on. They try and juggle multiple people in front of one mirror, and end up completely ignoring you. They also talk continuely about staff, issues, other clients. If I could give less then 1 star I would. While there for alterations my daughter was barely even acknowledged. The pins were thrown in and I had to tell them it needed to be brought in more, she didn't listen, until the pin slipped out. They cut the bottom of her dress and never measured the bottom. They took my daughters number to call for alterations. We scheduled an appointment and the dress was not ready. They have called every week telling her it's not ready yet and it will be ready the following week. This has been going on for 3 weeks and her prom is next weekend. If the alterations aren't done right, we will have no time to send it back! When I called to complain, their excuse was that the alterations hadn't been completed yet! I've been in enough weddings, proms etc to know that they haven't even started working on her dress. I will be picking it up and taking it somewhere else.
