Each time they visit, I update my review here. Most recently David serviced my forced air furnaces. Called Shavitz for the first time as I was not confident in the service level being provided by my previous HVAC company who was unable to properly diagnose the problem on 3 previous visits. Our furnace was not working properly on a day with the high temp less than 20 degrees. Cornelius arrived early and was able to diagnose the problem within 5 minutes. He explained what he diagnosed and other tests he performed after fixing the problem. He was very engaging and professional; his professionalism and straight forward manner provided the level of competence we were seeking. Very good experience.
Shavitz was great, they were able to fix the issue with the drainage pipe from the humidifier on the same day, even rerouting it so that it gave me more storage space and didn t run through the middle of the floor!

The technician that came was very helpful and courteous. What I did not appreciate was the price quoted to me to repair the main gas valve on my water heater "AS42-F1578-60 - Replace Gas Valve - HOT WATER HEATER - $1,236.24". On top of it all, it was most likely going to take days to schedule unless I paid premium overtime.
I am OK with people and companies making money, but the main gas valve actually costs $125 and requires 2 hours of labor at most to complete the repair. I found Shavitz pricing insanely inflated and UNETHICAL. I hope Shavitz rethinks how they are making money. This type of service gives the industry a bad name. I'll be sure to never use your service or recommend it to anyone.

My friend and next door neighbor Jake has been out of town for the past few weeks. So when my wife went inside their place and found it to be 35 degrees she was very shocked. Her dad recommended calling Shavitz and we got an appointment the same day. They were able to help us out and make it earlier because of certain previous obligations that we had.
I got a call that the tech was on his way and would be there in about half an hour. He (Jason B) came at around 2pm Friday afternoon and got to work. Apparently, the furnace had stopped heating the air because the filter was over clogged. He replaced the filter (they had plenty on hand). Then when the air was still not getting hot he opened up some paneling on the furnace and and we found the real problem. Since the filter was so clogged it had triggered essentially a failsafe that prevents fires and such (this is my laymens terms of explaining what happened). Jason was able to quickly and efficiently fix that and then we finally had hot air blowing through the place.
He then went around the house and made sure none of the pipes had frozen over (the kitchen sink had, everything else was fine). We opened up the kitchen faucet so that when the pipe was ok we'd know it. He found the main water shutoff valve (remember this is my neighbors place so I didnt know where anything was) and explained what to do just incase a pipe were to burst (it never did, thank Gd) and made sure I knew what to look for if that were to happen. Jason did an awesome job and if we ever have an issue with OUR furnace I'm going to call Shavitz

Tom and Cosmin did my A/C installation in my co-op unit. Work was performed flawlessly. First they removed my huge, old water-cooled A/C unit, circa 1955, ensuring that water line was closed off before going any further. Tom also worked with our plumber to go over where the water pipe needed to be capped in the floor supply closet.
Then Tom and Cosmin installed a new condenser/compressor on my balcony and a new air handler in my foyer closet. They ran new linesets between the two, requiring drilling through the outside brick wall and routing around the concrete beams in the living room and dining room. They also had to put in new sheet metal to retrofit the old duct opening to connect to the new air handler. A new condensation pump was also included and installed, along with a water alarm in case of leakage. Finally, a new programmable thermostat was installed.
Our electrician had to run new power lines to both units, and Tom worked closely with him to make sure that everything went smoothly. I really appreciated the way Tom was able to make it easy for the other workmen to know what was needed.
Working with Tom and Cosmin was great. They were both very knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions. Tom especially spent the time to review how everything would be installed, particularly the linesets, as this was quite complicated given the inside obstacles. I had used Shavitz for maintenance for years at my old house, but this was the first Shavitz installation that I had done in many years. I was extremely pleased that I had such a good team to do this. It was two days of hard work and upheaval, but both Tom and Cosmin are very personable, and they made it easy to have them in my unit.
I would highly recommend Tom and Cosmin (and Shavitz, of course) to anyone in need of new A/C/furnace installations. It simply couldn't have gone any better. My thanks to them both.

I have recently moved to Skokie and I checked with different companies and none of them are like Shavitz. friendly staff that hey know what they are doing, ready to answer any question you have. when comparing price with other companies you might find out there are places with cheaper choice but they don't provide as good as service as these guys do. I had Randall checking my AC unit recently and i loved how nice and knowledgeable he was.
Ernie did a great job. Anyone who stopped by to help - was also just as good. Repaired and saved an old boiler for now. When it's time, I will return to Shavitz. Thanks Manny too.

Jarek and Tom K. did an outstanding job installing a large ductless mini-split heat pump. It consisted of 8 indoor units over 4 floors attached to 2 large outdoor compressors. It took 8 days to complete the installation. They were extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating with regards to how the outside line runs were installed. They were extremely neat and courteous with all of the inside work. The system performs magnificently, and in a short two week window, we've already tested and utilized both the heating a cooling capabilities (Chicago weather!). Thanks to Jaron also for all his help and coordination!

The appointment was for Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 8:00AM. Cornelius arrived a few minutes early and asked me if I had had a problems with the heating unit. I have not had problems. He then started to take off the panels to get inside and started to take readings and measurements. I explained that I had already changed the filter the day before and had also checked the Humidifier Filter. He methodically and professionally examined the burners and other areas of the interior of the heating unit and stated he found them to be in top working order.
I felt that Cornelius was well trained, knew about the unit on which he was working as well as the Humidifier, and Thermostat for proper operation.
Craig came over to troubleshoot some issues with two HVAC units. He was extremely thorough in his assessment and addressed and corrected them the same day. He also provided a detailed written email with everything he'd done and what we needed to do moving forwards to keep the systems "happy". Fabulous experience, highly recommend!

Tom, my service tech was a hard worker, no messing around,did a great job. The company Shavitz is another story, tried to overcharge me, I am aware of product costs so I was able to see through their bill. All was corrected in the end, but will look else ware in the future
Buyer Beware! I called Shavitz for a written estimate to replace my AC & 60K BTU Furnace. Sales rep shows up in dress shoes to climb my ladder and is too lazy to view 2.5T AC on rooftop! He refuses to give me written estimate and gives me verbal price for inadequate equipment 2T AC & 45K furnacethat is 3x higher than highest estimate for 2.5T AC & 60K furnace obviously to maximize his commission! He says he's afraid his guys will fall thru my ceiling too! He refuses to give written quote after wasting 1.5 hours of my time! Good thing cuz I read several negative reviews about their installers falling thru ceilings. Buyer beware heads up!

Cornelius came to my home on 10/30/14. At first glance, he was very polite. He ask if there were any problems and I said no, Cornelius checked everything inside my home. He went to look at my furnace and took some readings. He told me that my numbers were on the high side of optimal. He also heard and saw some things wrong with one of the motors. That's when we discussed having a project manager come out and quoter a new unit. Cornelius was one of the most professional techs to come to my home in a long time. He explained everything, so you could understand what he was saying. I would recommend him to other family and friends.
For the past two years, Shavitz techs, most recently Shawn, have maintained our furnace and AC. They have been on time, congenial, worked efficiently, located parts for older systems, and answered questions clearly.
Shavitz technicians have shown themselves to be honest and forthcoming / there seemed to be a glitch with our initial furnace install / problem was corrected the next day / a few bumps in the furnace performance in the first two weeks of use, but Shavitz did address the problem / seems to be a well-run company

I signed a multi year service agreement with this company years back. It has been nice to not have to think about and know that my system is being checked bi-annually. My reason for not giving more starts is two-fold. One, the reminders for the appointment are insane. They call you a week before your appt., 2 days before, and then morning of. It's 2019, send an email or a text. I don't talk to anyone as much as I talked to the office staff in the last 7 days. Secondly, my tech did a great job and is working with me to help some cold spots in my home. What I don't love is that he didn't clean up his mess. If my 2 year old has to do it so do you. If it takes getting somethings out of the way to access the system, then guess what you need to replace what you moved when you leave.

You know how other companies you wait around all day and they never show up? Only to call and you get sent to a call center and are not really given good information? Ramiro came back out for some final finishing touches for our furnace - not his fault, we needed a part that had to be ordered for our dinosaur of a furnace. Our building had a very good experience with Eric from Shavitz. After an inspection of our boiler, he provided the quote on the work that needed to be completed to keep the boiler updated and fully functioning and examined all the radiators in our building. He also was the technician to complete the work. He was very helpful addressing questions in person and via email. He was knowledge, polite, efficient and completed the job within the allotted time. He also provided a thorough explanation of what he had done to ensure we understood the work.
My late parents and I have been with Shavitz for around 20 years so I know I ll receive quality service. Cornelius was especially helpful this time around. I always had steam heat until my recent move so I knew nothing about HVAC systems. He patiently answered all my questions and instructed me in how the system worked. Cornelius also explained some possible additions to the system. Others must think highly of him as he was training a new technician (Krzysztof).

Once again Shawn is my tech guy and he is very good at his job! He knows what he is doing and he does it efficiently! He takes his time to listen to my questions and explain what I don't understand. He goes beyond a simple yes or no answer. He tells it like it is and when he said my condenser is struggling and I may need a new air conditioner, I believe hm. As always the technician was right on time. A very good start. and he promptly got to work.This time there were some repairs that were needed and now the furnace is running well. Not sure if it is my imagination or not but it seems warmer in here. He cleaned up and was on his way.
