This has been to go to place for paczki. They have a wide variety, but get there early if you want anything good.

They also sell bread, brownies, macaroons and lots of bakery items.

I was really disappointed in the pazcki's. Spent $4 for a salted caramel paczki. Not even a teaspoon of filling. Also, all the paczkis have a lemon taste. I like lemon but not with everything.

$20 dollars for a tiny plate of cookies. Was in a bind and needed to bring something, so I thought, hell at least they'll be damn good cookies. I would have thought the cookies were awful if I bought them for $5, but 20 for such garbage? It tasted genuinely like dry wall. They weren't even sweet, as if they put all the effort into the presentation of the cookies without a care for taste. More than half of the tiny plate remained after the party, and everyone who had them said they were tasteless.

Go to a real bakery if you need anything. You're even better off going to Jewel and buying a larger quantity of supposedly "inferior" cookies than this place.

Once again, utter garbage.

Threw out all the stuff we got from here because it was all stale, choked trying to take a bite. Cakes were super dry and the cream inside was very questionable. Macaroons were the worst I've ever had, super sweet and used regular jelly inside, seriously have gotten better macaroons off the shelf at TJ Max. Completely overpriced and I wish they had given me a receipt so I could have returned this but I wouldn't even take a replacement if I was offered out of fear of getting sick.

I popped in here on my way home 12/3. I bought a blueberry muffin and a cherry puff pastry/tart. My only regret is I did not purchase more!!!. Reasonable prices, super fresh, and delicious! I'll def be back. Probably later today lol

Located in Jefferson Park since 1998 Delightful Pastries is a neighborhood bakery through-and-through, Dobra Bielinski and mother Stasia Hawryszczuk still serving many of the same Eastern Europeans today that made the storefront a success two decades ago.

Built on local Ingredients and historic recipes, all housed inside a cozy space on Lawrence, guests entering Delightful Pastries during COVID-19 will find little changed from pre-pandemic, staff and patrons donning PPE noteworthy while at least three-dozen choices rest safely behind glass.

Less sweet than the typical Bakery, low Sugar plus a lack of preservatives and stabilizers proudly promoted, it was on a nearby bench that seven items were tasted, Kolaczki with locally made Preserves or Cream Cheese precisely as good as Grandma s while Bielinski s Pecan Square outperforms the average Pie thanks to more Nuts and a lack of Corn Syrup.

Offering plenty of Fruit based items, typical of Poland on Hungary, Apple Cake comes sliced into weighty wedges offering plenty of Cinnamon between Sponge layers while Paczki served year-round provide a reminder of Fat Tuesday without long lines but all the expected texture and flavor.

Not everything is good. The croissants and the macarons are probably the only good things I've tasted. All the other cookies are dry. The pastries are not that good either. I've had much better.

As today is Fat Tuesday, stopped at site in Ogilvie train station to pick up some Paczki's for work. They were very expensive, $38.00 per dozen, so i only bought 2. I figured if they were delicious, I would pre-order a dozen next year. Boy, am i glad i didnt spend the money! Got a fudge iced custard and a lemon curd moonshine. Both paczki's were dry and had very little filling. Spent $6.65 for 2 paczki, someone at work brought in a dozen from Jewel, they were much better than this bakery!

Absolutely loved it. It's my second take out from the place and everything tasted so nice. And tell me this- a cake box with a lovely easy knot at the top like that- that's customer satisfaction. So much of care! The orange thing was fabulous. Sorry, didn't take a photo with the box full. See, genuine review.

Let s start with, look at the pictures below and then read this review. I preordered this cake for my cousins 21st and sisters 30th birthday and as you can see highly disappointed. This cake was suppose to be a 10in tiramisu cake that cost $60 and had here s to 21, even if your 30 written on it. Instead it came out to be frozen tiramisu cake with a cookie placed on top with some half a** writing on it. When I preorder a cake I expect it to be thawed and written nicely especially if it is worth $60. This bakery came highly recommended and I was honestly excited to order a cake from here especially for a high price. Instead as you can see I left with some lackluster work.
My uncle picked up the cake for me and he told me he waited 20 mins for it. The cake was suppose to be ready at 2pm ( hence preordered) well it wasn t ready and to be honest I don t think they had a cake for us because at first they couldn t even find our order. Then he was charged for a 8inch cake that was only $42. Below that is not a 8inch cake so they messed up and didn t even inform the customer. What type of business is that? I didn t know that it is our responsibility to open the cake before we leave the bakery because if that was the case he wouldn t of walked out with that. Besides that it was 6pm, we bring the cake out to find it frozen!!!!! We are suppose to be celebrating milestone birthdays and we have a Tira mi su ice cream cake that won t cut and everything was crumbling (cueing pictures below). At this point I am furious!! The bakery is closed so I look at the receipt and it says refund policy is to bring the cake back to be refunded. Yeah sure- who in their right mind while trying to celebrate a birthday would they think hey let s save the cake so I can bring it back. Instead we had to wait to thaw it out. Honestly this is the worst experience ever, such bad customer service, and to lie about the cost! I wish I went myself to pick the cake up because I wouldn t of left.
What turned out to be an excitement turned out to be a bitter disappointment, ruining the cake for two birthdays- cake is a crucial part.
I would never recommend this place and I wish I could give zero stars. Thanks not so much to not so delightful pastries.

Every item I've had from Delightful has been heavenly! My regular favorites are the marble pound cake and the pierogies. Their croissants are also beautifully light and flaky so that you really do taste the difference butter makes in a pastry. Their danishes are the best. I've never been disappointed in their baked goods only disappointed that they sold out before I got there! All of the ingredients are natural, you can taste it!

I have an annual tradition of getting their rose paczki for Mardi Gras. Theirs are the best in the city.

They're advertised in the Chicago Tribune to have pie on national pie day(3.14) & to give a free slice to the first customer to come in at or after 3:14 pm on national pie day but didn't have any & said they only make pies in the summer because that when they buy fruit, false advertising & weird that they don't know fruit is available year round lol thank god smoothie places don't have this mentality

I used to love this place, best pastries in the area... That was until I purchased a cake, German chocolate cake, that disillusioned me. Moldy, stone-hard, and downright disgusting. The cake was poorly constructed, more coconut than actual chocolate, falling apart in itself, it was destined for failure. very disappointed.

My grandma and I stumbled upon a farmers market Delightful Pastries has a tent at every Tuesday. The owner was so friendly and the food was delicious. We got homemade perogies which were FANTASTIC (my favorite for sure), a danish, and a crossiant. The crossiant was also delicious. It made for a perfect breakfast sandwich this morning. The danish I could have done without but it was okay! Finding a good danish is very hard.

I wanted to love this place because I've been looking for a place in the area that sold macarons (I love macarons). We decided to buy a macaron in each flavor and I also bought a variety of their othee pastries to try them out since it was my first time there. I also wanted to order a cake for my daughter's birthday but the person there didn't seem knowledgeable about what I was asking for so she asked me to email them so I didn't place my order after all. Some of the pastries were hit or miss and tasted a bit stale. From the pastries we tried I can tell you they make one of the best coconut macaroons I have ever had, especially the one with chocolate! The falvored macaroons unfortunately tasted like they were either frozen for a long time previously because the taste of the freezer over powered the flavor they should have tasted like. Don't get me wrong they are probably amazing fresh but these tasted horrible. I was a bit disappointed because everything was on the pricey side, which I definitely don't mind spending if and when it tastes good. I also asked about their tiramisu cake and asked if it was sold by the slice and I was told that they do not because they freeze them whole. So just my guess but it seems like they freeze their pastries, not sure but it sure tasted like they do. I totally recommend their coconut macaroons though, so I'll give them another try just just to pick some of those up.

Great pastries made that morning. Not often I gotta stop somewhere to let out my inner fat kid but I gotta make an exception for this spot. Super nice staff and large selection of sweet to savory. You will get hooked on this spot. Get the word out and bring your friends.

Your place for real authentic, delightful European pastries. Small place but real. Great pastries, paczki, macaroons are made fresh onsite. Breads are prepared from high quality ingredients.
I learned a lot about quality ingredients in their products from the owners Dobra and Stasia, who are around most of the time.

Yum.

Delightful Pastries catered for our COVID wedding. We had to cancel our larger plans and needed a caterer who could handle food, and a cake. Delightful Pastries pulled through for us. With very short notice, they provided delicious eats and an absolutely beautiful modern palettes wedding cake.

Beyond the quality of the food, the team is extremely kind and easy to work with: they truly want to help customers in any way possible to ensure their needs are cared for with excellence.

Keep up the good work!
P.s. the croissants may be the best damned thing you eat this side of Heaven.

Delightful Pastries lives up to its name. I got the seeded sourdough bread and it is delicious toasted. It's not my 1st time here though. I've enjoyed the soups to go as well. And the staff is always pleasant and helpful

Pretty it is. Taste is average. Prices a little high. No prices are labeled on items for customers. Don't really care for that. If I was around there I might visit again, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

All year long there are fabulous pastries and breads, but it isn't until fat Tuesday that the owner truly shows her baking prowess. The strawberry and creme paczkis give me life. Who would ever think someone would look forward to February in Chicago? I will always look forward to February if that means I get a paczki.

This place is great! So glad to have them in the neighborhood. Word of advice: order a key lime pie and throw a party so you can eat it with your friends. Or don't invite the friends and just eat the pie by yourself. It's that good.
