I was employed with Montefiore for almost 6 years. What was once a great place to work for has now changed drastically. No longer the place that cared for not only it s patients but also the employees. The floor staff is excellent and deserve any accolades they receive. There are are some truly hard workers who really care about what they do. Where the problem lies is administration. They are not caring and money driven. They do not care for the employees or the residents. And it shows in how the facility has changed. The things that take place there and are allowed to happen is not right. The only care is to fill a bed and receive funding. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

My father has been at Montefiore for over a year. He has been very well taken care of. The staff is very kind and nice. The food is above average. Sometimes, it is a little understaffed, which is true of all of these places. The staff is always available and helpful. The only thing I would change is if they provided transportation to doctors appointments outside of the facility. A lot of the residents are in wheelchairs and have limited mobility. It costs $100-300 to get a ride within a 5 mile radius in a wheelchair van. They do, however, provide an aide to go with my father if I can't go with him. I am very happy with Montefiore.

Do not send your loved ones here. Staff was hard to find. They do not follow the wishes from the family or POA. They held a family meeting without contacting the POA for the patient. They lost my dads teeth. Do not place your loved ones in this facility!

I went to one facility and left due to lack of care, inability to provide life saving meds in a timely fashion, and rude staff. This facility came highly recommended after I broke my leg in 2 places and had to be completely non weight bearing. I was put in a room, with no way to get to a bathroom. They brought me dinner, most of which I couldn't eat due to a restricted diet related to a kidney transplant. There were no choices, you ate what they had, or you could substitute a salad or turkey sandwich. But the worst part was medications. Before I left the hospital I was given a pain pill. It was 9 hours before I was given anything here. When I first asked I was told the supervisor needed to sign a form that wasn't done by the staff that checked me in. 3 hours later I was told the pharmacy screwed up. Finally got a pain pill. I am on immonosuppressant drugs after kidney transplant. I was told they needed to be ordered by the mail order pharmacy and would take 4 hours, but they would order them stay. I was then told that they were coming but wouldn't be here until 9:30pm, 10 at the latest. I have to take these pills at 9 pm. I arrived to the facility at 1:30 pm it's almost 11 pm and still no medication. This is absolutely unsafe medical treatment. And the comment the nurse made was, the hospital could have sent those medications with you. No, this facility had my chart for 2-3 days before I got there, they could have contacted the pharmacy knowing these could take longer to get. There is something wrong with a system that is trying to save lives and increase the quality of life for people, yet are not providing the appropriate services the patient needs.

If you know what s good for you don t come to this place as an employee or resident if you want to stay alive. Always understaffed especially on the dementia unit where those people need constant supervision. Residents are not properly looked after. I worked there and the conditions are appalling. Dirty carpet that smells like mildew when they attempt to clean it outdated equipment that sometimes works and during 3rd shift they cut the air conditioning on even though it s cold outside leaving employees and residents freezing. Extremely poor management and they allow felons to be on staff as well. There is a handful of employees who actually care and do their jobs very well but trust me the bad definitely outweighs the good.

Was there for 15 minutes visiting an elderly friend. The nurse and OT left her exposed with her door wide open, weren't wearing appropriate protective equipment, didn't wash hands between patients, didn't wash hands before passing meds. Called the nurse supervisor (Alicia sp?) Who didn't seem to care and tried to argue with me. Place is a joke. They used to have a good reputation....sad to see they've succumbed to making money more important than the safety of their residents.

My grandmother was here and was well taken care of. The therapy was great and they kept us informed. The nurses managed her pain and the aides were also very helpful and kind. You could tell that they really care about people, not just a job. We didn't have to worry at all because we knew she was in good hands. When it was time to go home the social worker handled everything for us. The whole entire stay was A1! I would definitely go here if I needed to utilize a facility. Thank you to the whole team at Montefiore.

My grandmother lived at Montefiore for about 18 months. While she was at Montefiore she was well cared for and happy. The staff members who took care of my grandmother were polite and knowledgeable about their jobs. We would definitely choose Montefiore again.

Very disappointed with the lack of care my father ...

Very disappointed with the lack of care my father received there. They are very understaffed and after complaining to department heads some issues were resolved like getting pillowcases and a recliner for him. Danielle the one aide was very nice and accommodating.
The evening nurse Marie was in charge of one half of the wing, she had a good attitude, but they really need to hire more quality employees instead of overworking the ones they have.
My father cane down with pneumonia and when my sister and I walked in one evening he was shivering and had a blanket across his shoulders while the IV of the antibiotic was started and he was wet. The aid did not change him and I didn t want to wait for her to come back because she was tending to the other so my sister helped me while I changed him into dry clothes and disinfected the vinyl recliner her sat in and took the urinated sheet to the laundry bin in the hall. His lunch tray sat in his room until just before dinner on Sunday, June 30th.
He pressed the call button and waited over 30 minutes over the weekend to help him put his oxygen hose in the wall, no answer so he walked over and did it himself. The entrance is attractive and the receptionists were always friendly, but think twice before considering sending a loved one here. We were not impressed. If you are looking for your loved one to be ignored send them to MonteFiori. Don t assume as I did thinking he would be taken care of based on the rating. If I read the reviews prior to his admission I would not have sent my father to this place.
Huge waste of money. Better to hire a private aid if your insurance allows it.
I called and waited for several department heads to call me on July 3rd for over three hours to address my concerns and finally was put through to a head nurse Tori Payne who listened to my concerns. She is great and sent emails to the staff. Hope they get it together.

If you want the life of your loved one to be cut s...

If you want the life of your loved one to be cut short, or live their remaining existence in filth, this is the place for you. The staff is so ignorant they're more interested in staring at their phone and hanging out with each other. If you bring in your own clothes, they'll disappear after the first wash. Food, forget it, it's stolen. My mom called me crying at 730 am because nobody had emptied my dads catheter for over 12 hours and it was leaking all over the floor. When she called the nurses station they told her she'd have to WAIT for someone to come in on the next shift. I had to go over there one night at midnight because nobody would help my father and yes, I had to sneak in the building. This place is horrible. They do have really good commercials though.

The building is riddled with two-faced shady people and the CEO could couldn't care less about Montefiore. I wouldn't be surprised if they were hit with a massive lawsuit and shut down tomorrow.

The staff is horrible!! Especially the STNA's who have been there for some years. Using profanity in front of the residents and the resident's families, calling each other out of their names, to much horse playing, gossiping, and attitudes about training new employees. The nurses were just as bad as them. Defended the STNA'S that were very unprofessional and who were verbally abusive to the residents. To keep from losing my license as an STNA I left in my 3rd week of orientation. That place needs a thorough cleaning asap. This place... please don't believe the hype, Its not all that it seem to be. You could lose your license if not careful dealing with the staff. Worst nursing home so far that I've ever worked for. I feel bad for the residents that lives there. They even complained about the disrespect and the negligence. So sad

Horrible care--nurses and aides work hard to care for elderly in environment that doesn't support or value its staff or its patients. There is constant turnover and so care is scattered at best. Needs new CEO, charge nurse, lead nurse, social workers and others in executive offices who are competent, skilled and capable of operating a quality care facility.

As a former employee of the facility and a consumer who has had a elderly parent in another nursing home I can say that Montefiore is a great facility. They are faced with challenges like any facility of the same type, but I can say that the staff there will go above and beyond to make sure the patients and residents get what they need. The management staff is caring and always available to help. They have a nursing supervisor or manager available 24 hours per day 7 days per week who is a good resource to staff and families alike.

If I could give zero stars I would! My dad was tra...

If I could give zero stars I would! My dad was transferred here after a complicated surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. The surgery went well and dad was doing wonderful. Therapy was going well and he had been off pain meds for a week. With help he was getting out of bed and progressing. Even walking a bit with his walker. He had a hip and 60% of his femur replace due cancer. He had many restrictions that were communicated to this facility. They nurses aide ignored them all!!!

He was moved to Montefiore on Monday. Wednesday he complained about his nurses aide and the care she was providing, he was okay with his nurse. By Friday he was transerred back to the Cleveland Clinc for an infection only because I was there extremely concerned about his delirium. Dad has NO history of Alzheimer's.

He was supposed to wear a hip/leg brace that they removed. He was not allowed to reach over to the opposite side of his body. His feet were to be toes up at all times for healing. This place was listed as "skilled nursing". They should have be prepared to handle all of theses restrictions, but did not.

Dad asked to have his urine container emptied since he could not get out of bed himself yet and the aide told him " this is not a hospital, you should be doing this yourself". WHAT? He had a full hip/ leg brace on and was labeled as a fall risk. He was not allowed to get up to do these things. I also complained about the temperature in the room being too high and requested it be adjusted, (my sister made the same request earlier that day).

Besides being grouchy Wednesday, he was alert and still healthy. My sister went Friday morning/early afternoon and he was confused and delirious. Another family member called him thatbday and could barely understand him and his conversation made no sense.

Wednesday morning... My sister again complained about the temperature and requested it be fixed. They turned off the heat and opened a window. When I arrived that evening, around 7pm, it was a sauna! No joke. They were in mid dressing change and requested I wait outside... I did but in hindsight I would have refused as I later found out his incision was infected and draining plus it had "opened up due to them moving him around" per the day nurse. When I got on them, all of a sudden they started moving. The aide was feeding him, they again turned off the heat and cracked a window. The aide even set up the small fan I purchased for his comfort. But... Dad was barely responsive and completely inadible due to a UTI infection and dehydration plus a new infection in his incision. Luckily I was there during a shift change. The second shift nurse took one look at him and appeared almost as concerned as I was.

She promised me that if Hillcrest could not send a nurse that night to start the IV she would have him transferrred. That's exactly what happened but from what I heard The night nurse had to fight with the administration to get him transferred. He was moved to the hospital around 10:30pm Fri.

I arrived at Hillcrest by 8:15 the next morning to check on him. There was no IV started yet but since he had been given antibiotics he was no longer delirious. Once the IV was started with fluids about an hour or so later, it was a 180 degree change. He became alert again and was able to have a conversation.

He's back at the main campus now (was transferred last night, Saturday) because of an e-coli infection and his incision was draining, swollen, red and infected! They plan to do another surgery to open the incision the clean/drain this infection.

DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR LOVED ONES UNLESS YOU ALSO PLAN TO STAY THERE FULL TIME TO BE ON TOP OF THEIR CARE! GO ELSEWHERE.
Once dad is well enough to be moved again you can guarantee we will not send him back to this s***hole.

I do want to give a shout out to his second shift nurse (not sure if I can name her or if she would want that) for potentially saving my dads life! At least there was one person on my dads side. She deserves more than one star but the review is for the facility not the nurse.

I have never worked anywhere that has such a strong support system in place. The management assists and supports the entire team.....truly a team approach. When things get challenged we all pull together and work together to consistently provide great care. You won't find a more caring bunch of folks!!

Worst place to send a human being that you care for! Listen to the reviews. Think twice before you send a human being there. Guaranteed not to get the minimum care needed. This place should be considered a cemetery. Compassion doesn t exist at this facility. Don t be fooled that it s in Beachwood Ohio. They don t even meet the doctors orders. I wonder when was the last time the state visited this place.

I'm an agency nurse that is designated to non-covid patients. This is done to prevent caregivers spreading covid to patients who don't otherwise have it. I showed up at an assignment to this facility and was ordered to take care of 3 covid positive patients that were intermingled among 20 negative patients. This facility was aware that covid patients were not to be assigned to us. Patients are contracting covid at this facility due to Management's failure to follow ODH guidelines. When I explained I couldn't take those patients or I would have to self isolate and cancel all my shifts for 2 weeks, I was told "we don't care" "that's not our problem" and that I would be reported for patient abandonment (by a "manager" that doesn't even know the proper definition of abandonment). I was a covid ICU nurse in new York from march-july. Sometimes you just need to accept that other people know more than you about some things, even if you don't like their skin color. I was also cursed at and berated by an AIDE for my refusal of this assignment. She clearly has no place but just decided she'd jump on the bullying and harassment bandwagon. I would suggest nurses to stay away unless you're the proper ethnic minority to avoid harassment and incivility. I've reported to the ODH which is my duty, hopefully before they infect more high risk patients with their negligence.

I would be very careful before choosing The Montef...

I would be very careful before choosing The Montefiore Home for your loved ones. They are all about the money first. Doesn't matter if your Jewish and the many bad reviews enforce the truth.

My mother Dorothy Lebovitz passed away on April 14, 2018. Her kidneys were failing her and although she didn't like the idea of a nursing home, The Montefiore Home was the only one she would go to. Her mother was there and also her sister.

We had much communication with Administration at the home but when my mother needed to be admitted the Administration turned her down because they said she was trying to hide assets when in fact the Montefiore Home administration didn't do their job and blamed it on the family causing me to have to go and get a non-Jewish Nursing Home.

Can you believe it?

The Non-Jewish Nursing Home "Manor Care" opened their arms unconditionally as did "Grace Hospice." Money was not going to be an issue with them. They stated we would worry about that later. Problem was when I had to tell my Mother that on Monday we had to leave the hospital and where we were going she was heart broken.

Long story short on that Monday of the move my Mother passed away.

Thanks Montefiore Home for looking after your own. Especially thanks to Galina Hoolin who handles the Medicaid issues. The five years of bank statements that we had was never asked for by Galina and this is what we were blamed for and this is why my mother was denied entrance to the home.

This is all I can say. It was a shame this happened and the Montefiore home administration should be ashamed of themselves. Will they ever take responsibility of what they did?

I will end this review here.

Lacks important standards in basic nursing care. My relative had to be transported to the hospital due to poor nursing judgement, loss of weight and decubs. Didnot have any skin issues upon admission. Very disappointed.
