Stayed in Main building. Staff is friendly when you actually get to talk to them. Bathroom shower curtain has mold . Not acceptable for a hospital!

Stayed in Main building. Staff is friendly when you actually get to talk to them. Bathroom shower curtain has mold . Not acceptable for a hospital!
Had surgery here a week ago. 1. Was place in a double room for surgery recovery. Who does that? I also asked to be moved to a private-- rooms were available and I never moved. 2. My blood pressure rose from 124/63 to 180/100 and my nurse didn't even bother to call my doctor about it. 3. They threw my shoes away. Steve Madden sandals. Just threw them away. This place was unbelievable.
Great doctors, nurses and staff. Room was clean and food very good. Rated best hospital in Texas. I can see why.
worst experience of my life dealing with them. Endless bills that they cant keep track of after you consolidate payments with them and they end up turning into collections before you even receive a final notice on a bill you consolidated months ago.
I would like to personally recognize Mimosa Vega R.N. in the AOD. She was very nice, hospitable, and kind. I was merely sitting with a patient and she took the time out and asked if I would like a sandwich chips and soda. I know this may not be anything to most, but it was certainly appreciated by me. I think she embodies the I.C.A.R.E model.
The Doctor's & Nurses are Great & even your house keeping when you can get a hold of them. However your management "in charge" floor people some how think they are above everyone else. If you have a concern, its considered as "You" the patient are the problem. I get better customer service & treatment calling down to order my meals ....I guess I'm just old fashion treat people how you'd like to be treated. Futher more just because you are " Nurse Manager " doesn't mean you are manager material . Treat everyone right with the same respect and courtesy no matter race or age. After All We All Belong To GOD......Even You
Don't ever want to be back on this floor again under this management. READY TO GO HOME . I tell anyone if you can go to Methodist Sugarland or West Houston - Katy Methodist !!! Great Doctors here but ......hmmm
Methodist Hospital is one of the Best hospitals in the world. It has been for many decades, since Dr Debakey & Dr Gotto were there. Although the doctors are not world known as these icons, they do have very good doctors in many specialties.
Walters tower, 19th floor. No nurses to be found at 8pm. Walked the entire floor, (video) not 1 nurse. Heart Patient had to use restroom & pressed nurse button . No one showed up. Patient who cant walk, used plastic urinal & spilled it all over. Still no nurse 30 min later. After an unacceptable amount of time nurse shows up & says she didn't even know the nurse button was pushed. Where the hell were you. Not with other patients. How do you know when no one is at any of the stations on the floor. I called the floor, no answer. You go from ICU to this floor, make sure you have friend or family with you to care for you.
Dear Billing Dept,
Please send me ONE consolidated bill for my charges. Every month, despite calls to you telling me I have to call some billing company outside of Texas, I receive 8 bills with the same account number. Call me crazy, but this would end up having to be paid by an increase in patient costs if you mail 8 bills to every patient. Do you really need to spend 0.49 cents to bill me for 0.31 cents?!
We love your MDs, staff and have nothing but great things to say about your hospital. This is really poor customer service...billing is the weak link of an otherwise awesome hospital!
Located on the 26th floor of the
Smith Building. Dr. Incavo was my angel. I was originally diagnosed with a lower back spine herniation until I was urged to see Dr. Incavo for a second opinion. Thank God I did because he found that I had double avascular necrosis of both my hips. In simple terms my hip bones had died and had broken off and disolved. YEAH... IMAGINE... I AM ONLY 40 SOMETHING. He immediately scheduled a double hip replacement which my insurance urged him only to do them in 6 month intervals. He pushed them and succeeded. The surgery was amazingly perfect and to surprise showed up in my room to help me out of bed 8 hours later... the Methodist staff was outstanding and went above the call of duty. I was walking (tears) I was in so much pain for such a long time that I am so grateful for him and his great team. Thank you for giving me a second chance.
Terrible hospital system. After waiting for hours on a bed in the ER hallway, Doctors don't listen to patients input at all even though I've been dealing with my condition since birth. To top it off I get a random bill 4 years later that pops up on my credit report as I'm about to buy a house. Where was this bill for the past 4 years?? The Methodist hospital is terrible stick with Baylor St. Luke's. If you're in a pinch even Memorial Hermann is better.
It was a nice experience in this building...saw so many store, food place ,its very neat and well organised...the hospital is in surlock towers..
I started with a very good view of Methodist (based on doing Grand Rounds in Orthopedics with friends) until a recent procedure done there. The day after the procedure I had a very bad reaction. No call to check on me. My urologist said that I should get information on the anesthesia I had for future reference. I contacted Medical Records and filled out and sent the request form. Waited three months and then called. Phone system not user friendly - after about fifteen minutes got the mailbox for Medical Records and left a message. Called the next day - mailbox full. Tried to call administration - never heard back when left message. At my wit's end. I don't think I would go to them to have a procedure done again.
Worst Hospital Ever!!!! People here don t care about you!!! and some of the stuff are very rude.. I feel like leaving this horrible place.
The grill station is always closed even if there is staff behind counter. Seems like staff never wants to cook food unless its using the fryer. The only cook who is reliable is named John an elderly man. Sirosly it's sad to see a company like Methodist having Walmart ethics in hiring.
I normally go here for Dr. appointments and ER visits and the care is typically very good however I was seen in the ER this month for anyphylaxis/allergic reaction and when I got into a room the nurses were doing a shift change. She recognized me and said to her coworker right while I was there that I was psychosomatic and when I tried telling them I had started new antibiotics they ignored me and said it was anxiety. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Do they think I m stupid and not know what that means? Wouldn t go back even if my life depended on it. On a different trip to the ER they gave me IV morphine which is incredibly dangerous and could ve killed me as I am opiate naive. Don t risk your life coming here the staff are rude and don t know what they re doing.
Update: tested positive for covid a week later
Horrible ER services..my son broke his clavicle in pain we sat in a hallway over 6 hours, without getting updates on anything he was admitted to the hospital and it's like they had their picks and chooses as to who got a room..People that came way after us were pulled to a more private area which was very unfair.. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there.
My father is currently at Methodist. He developed a pressure ulcer on his upper lip from the breathing tube (totally due to nursing and respiratory neglect) and through the course of this wound, his upper lip fell off! No one has mentioned this to us, nor their plan to fix it. We had to bring it up ourselves. It seems as if they are hoping we just let it slide...we are not. Also, the communication between the doctors is almost non-existent. It seems as if the different specialties do not communicate with each other to look at the big picture. The neurologist hadn't ordered a MRI because she thought my father was still on a non-MRI compatible machine. It had been discontinued 10 days earlier! Honestly, it's like Keystone Cops over there...everyone running around and not knowing what's going on. Steer clear!
I went to see one of the vascular surgeons recently, relative to technical errors that were made during vascular surgery at Chi St. Luke's Baylor. I had my CT scan that they downloaded. He (the Doctor) recommended open thrombectomy on my right and left femoral arteries, followed by patching. I got a second opinion from a vascular surgeon at UT because the CT scan did not reflect serious blockage in right leg. The vascular surgeon said there was no reason at all for surgery on my right femoral artery. He (Dr. .......) very clearly tried to schedule me for a risky and completely unnecessary surgery. I am truly astonished at such a bold move that clearly would be malpractice. I urge anyone looking at getting vascular surgery to be very cautious, and understand the risks. At Chi St. Luke's Baylor I had an carotid endartectomy that had a serious technical error, resulting in a completely thrombosed left carotid system. There is no fix, and I am lucky that I am alive and not paralyzed yet. Additionally, they stented my aorta and a large thrombus broke apart, and resulted in major complications with my left femoral artery. I will be contacting the administrator of the vascular surgery department to ensure that they are aware of what happened.
For a standard abdominal ultrasound Methodist charges $1,990!!! Unfortunately, I didn't call around prior but trusted my doctor who referred me to Methodist. That was a huge mistake. I checked several scan centers after though and found the average charge for this service is about $200-300. According to the United Healthcare procedure estimator, the average charge for this procedure in my area is $145!!! Methodist is obviously gouging patients in amounts that in my mind borders on psychotic criminal. I would STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM METHODIST AS POSSIBLE. Period.
Dr Volionnis Dr Ping Nurse Delia Nurse Star took wonderful care of me in 2010 when I had cancer. ..God Bless them...As well as Dr Pings staff....6 month treatments.....LOVE YOU ALL
Ive been a methodist patient for a long time My Primary physician is awesome so as my Derma, Allergy and My regular Mammo check up.
But this incident i will not gonna Gonna let this employee fr Employee HEALTH DEPARTMENT at Front desk, She has a very bad nasty customer service I came to help
my friend to guide her about methodist but this lady approached us unprofessional, I was coughing and so i ask her a water she has the nerve to tell me that those are for the patient.
The number one hospital has the number one nasty employee Ms Susan Balderes at Employee health clinic, If someone is coughing and ask you a water do not say or refuse and explain that those are only for methodist your I CARE INtegrity is missing with your nasty attitude.
Well we have finally had it with Methodist. We have been going since 2010. It surly has gone down hill. Can't ever get billing right! Some of the doctors there are under the impression they are better than their patients. Its almost like they just don't care.
Such a shame was a nice place not any more it is all about money not care!
By far the worst hospital experience I m my life. If your life is on the line don t trust it with these people
My husband has been a surgical patient twice in Houston Methodist in 2018. He received great care both times. I was also treated very well. Our experience at HM has been good under difficult circumstances.
Worst service ever ! I believe bayshore is better than this place and never thought I would ever say something nice about bayshore .
Dirty
Taken out room to use it for another patient and then put in again without cleaning it or wiping it down .
Not sanitary
So negligent
poor conditions room.
Exceeded 6 hours
Well never come again .
I had to rate one star but deserves a 0
The staff there is really an warn and they make you feel comfortable being there
I've been doing labs on Mondays & have had to wait over 2 hours every week. They call on patient every 15 to 20 minutes. They should have someone in every room taking blood & it would go a lot faster. I've been in pain sitting & waiting. Can't take any pain Meds until I give blood. Something needs to be done.
Horrible experience ..Charges are very high.. for just to take hand xray it cost me more than 1K.
Back in 2004 I was hospitalized for a month and it was a horror story. Overdosed with way too many drugs. Horrible doctors and some nurses. I would have given 1 star. However, these days I have to give them 5 stars (my experiences) it has gotten SO much better. Friendly doctors and nurses. They respected my wishes when it came to medical care, medical or anything else I needed. Kudos on the amazing improvements. This will be my main hospital if I need there services again.
Here in the hospital now been waiting on doctors for almost 3 hours to get pain medicine that actually work. You can t lead medicine if your patients are sitting in pain longer than it it s takes the meds the meds to kick in.
Back on November 24,2018 they saved my life after coding 3x being diagnosed with PE and DVT. I stayed a month n 4 days 3weeks in ICU they call me THE MIRACLE LADY
This is my second inpatient stay at Methodist for Myasthenia Gravis and GI symptoms related to my Nissen Fundoplication, Gerd, and Autoimmune Disease.
I have also been in MD Anderson Numerous Times as well.
I can honestly say that the care I have received at Methodist far exceeds that in which I received at MD Anderson. Outpatient at Anderson is good but inpatient care is just so poor with the exception of the Cardiothoracic unit which is excellent .
The nursing care is so compassionate, and thorough. The nurses and techs are very knowledgeable about Myasthenia Gravis and Autoimmune Disease which makes my stay safe. There are special considerations with Myasthenia for medications and care. It seems because of their Neuro Specialized Care staff in all departments are educated in the disease process and special considerations due to MG .
My Neurologists Dr. Nakawa is so knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. He listens to me and always returns my calls when I have a problem. My GI doctor Dr. Reka Mathur is the nicest doctor you would want to meet and so thorough she just plane smart. The GI unit where they perform EGD and Colonoscopy is filled with the nicest staff ever. For something that could be so unpleasant it was just a piece of cake . No problem, fear or discomfort at all.
I can t say enough about the care I receive at Methodist. I have yet to meet anyone unkind or friendly. The patient is always first for sure.
BEWARE: I needed to get a simple COVID test because I was in contact with a person that tested positive and Methodist wants you to schedule through a primary care physician. Ok, I dont have a primary care physician, but I called anyway. The doctor called 30 min after the televisit was supposed to start to tell me that I should get a test. Wow that took a genius. They set up an appt 2 days later and said it would take 2-3 for results. I cancelled the test and found a same day test with results in 24hrs. Now they want to bill me $228 for a visit LOL. How crazy is this? They are trying to bill me for a consult that was never finished because I never recieved a test through them. I didnt need a DR. to tell me I needed a test. This is ridiculous and I will never give this hospital system a dollar. GREED.
This is the worst care I have seen. The first admission my father had in early March was bad, and this is much worse. We had no choice but to bring him back because of his doctor, but since we have been here in the ED has was placed on a bloody gurney, left in a hallway for 3 hours, and now we are in a turf war between departments. In the meantime my dad is sitting in an ED room waiting on a determination if he needs surgery and no one seems to care. This was all pre-arranged and yet we still sit 7.5 hours with no answers at all. And Methodist states they are leading medicine? Seriously?
The medical staff here are very scholarly and far beyond any other on knowledge and experience.
Whoever nurse Ann is that works in the Jones tower is rude as hell . She s tall with glasses and a African or Jamaican accent . She came in with an attitude and was slick talking to me then she stuck me wrong when she was trying to get blood then left out the room with an attitude and didn t even have the decency to put a bandage on where I was bleeding after she stuck me!!! She needs to find a new job if this ain t for her. And I called for a nurse for a whole hour and nobody came then I ended up throwing up by time somebody did come and the nurse didn t even want to bring me new sheets since I got threw up on them ! This was my worse experience ever at Methodist!!!!!
If there was an option for 0 or negative starts, that's what they are worth.
The hospital is all about making money and generating profit. There is no 'service' angle in their medical services, only profit counts because everyone has their goal to meet by ethical or unethical means.
The most disturbing and unethical practice, which hurts patient financially, by this hospital is that it bills you for the services without performing them. I had such experience twice and have decided to stop going there in future. Both the occasions they did not listen or try try to fix their mistake.
On the other hand, so far I had extremely good experience with the other equally large and diverse hospital in Houston - Memorial Herman who always have patient service as heir top priority.
Gave birth to my daughter there for Easter 4/21/2019 and may I say that the care we received was the absolute best...the nurses were wonderful and help all day long so does the pca s. The entire 6th floor deserves an amazing award for welcoming and helpful they were to me and my family. I thank you guys so much for making my delivery a safe and successful one and let me not forget to thank the nicu nurses since my baby is still there you guys are the best and very helpful cause as a new mom I know I m worried but who isn t...thank you so much for all you do
The Wilson Family
Long wait for doctors even after taking appointments
I cant give more than 3 stars. My team of doctors i give a 5 out of 5. But the rest of this experience is brutal from the time i walked in. I first was greeted by three ppl at the er desk with a stare.....a blank @$! stare. Upon doing vitals my blood was 145/96. I complained of shortness of breath and was sent back for a breathing treatment. That short walk literally should of took 30 seconds wound up be 5 min because the lady wanted to stop and chill and talk with local passing employee. By time i get to the back to take my breathing treatment i was hook to a monitor which displayed my blood pressure at 250/148. That number had to be correct because it was check 5 times after that and it didnt change. So what the nurses were thinking or doing in the front idk. Fast forward 3 hours and 4 different types of blood test xrays and scans i was told i was being admitted for heart related issues. Issues i still dont know because i have cardiologist that i have seen the past 5 days for not even a combined 5 mintues if you add up all the days. Why is my kidney doctor telling me i have a whole hole in my heart but ive been here since sunday and its Thursday and my 'heart doctor' has yet to even tell me that. I confirmed with my admitting doctors and yes the kidny doctor was right. Images showed i developed a whole in my heart within 8 months. Fast forward again now im sitting in my room with monitor alarm going off since 930pm and its 206am and nobody, i mean nobody has come to turn it off. I have to refill my own water, dump my own urine, my bed sheets havent been changed and they turning brown and dirty of course bcuz they wont allow IMU paitents to get up and walk so i cant take a decent bath just wipes. I even offered to change my own sheets just bring me clean ones. Its thursday three days later and still no clean sheets. And to add on to this miserable experience, out of the whole time ive been here the kitchen has gotten my meal order right ONE time. And i have to hear a lady in the background when i call saying i should be thankful im eating. If i dont eat something how are you going to force me to eat something i dont like AFTER i filling out the ticket telling you what i want from the choices yall gave me. Whats the point of giving me a menu and telling me to pick something when youre going to send me whatever you want anyways. Im done talking but just to end with i also had a nurse ram a needle in my stomach for an injection to stop clotting. RAMS it in my stomach and had me cursing and had the nerve to ask me did it hurt? Every other nurse who gave me that same injection did it and i didnt even know they were doing it because i didnt feel it. Im almost certain he did that because of certain issues that make him and i different but im not going to assume so ill just leave it alone. And the same nurse was DEDICATED not to give me certain medicines when i asked for it. If the doctors didnt want me to have this certain type of medicine they wouldnt have put it on my profile to use when i wanted it. I have 500 more words to write about this stay that im still currently in but i cant get this alarm thats still ringing to stop. But again i give the doctors a 5/5 some of the best ive had. They found new things i didnt know about and explained existing things more better
Still here. I want thank All medical staff @ Dunn Town 9th. Floor for Caring and Service of My Wife. Thank You All.
My sister is having a baby girl there the 2nd best hospital
I have had many procedures there. The staff was amazing, very clean and professional facility.
2 1/2 years ago when my husband went in for 18 days, the cancer doctor Sarah Creamer admitted she overdosed him on morphine, the nursing staff would not assist me on the Jones ward 9th floor when he was struggling to survive, you all lost a piece of his jewelry prior to surgery. I really get tired of seeing your commercials. I know several people with similar experiences with your "facility." My husband passed 3 days after leaving there, thank you for the poorest service ever!
While the nurses are top quality and caring, not much could be said for the rooms and administration of the hospital. I was in the Jones building for 5 horrible days. The a/c system was not working and despite having the thermostat on 70 the room was still 80 decrees.
The initial response to try and resolve the a/c issue was to tell me to have a family member bring a fan for me for home.
Finally after requesting for maintenance 4 times, they finally came and advised the nurses and hospital staff to move me out of the room. Even my doctors were very upset that I was in a room with no proper working a/c.
The hospital changed my room 3 times, and each room had the same problem. The hospital seemed to only transfer me within the Jones building and not to another part of the hospital in which did not have theses issues.
I am sure if I was a politician, celebrity or person of wealth I never would had been assigned a room within the Jones building. It seems Methodist reserves their better rooms for those that was more than willing to pay for their "deluxe suites".
I spoke with the patient advocate on several occasions and the only assistance they could offer was to provide my family members with one day free valet parking.
I had to check out of Methodist and re-admit to St. Lukes Hospital just so I could properly recover from surgery.
If you have to be admitted to Methodist in the Texas Medical Center just make sure they do not assign you a room within the Jones or Main buildings.
I was taken to Methodist med center ER Thursday at 10pm July 24, 2020 with level 10 pain, a result of SBO. There are previous records of the same condition at Methodist. It took over five hours before being hooked up to suction equipment to decompress/relieve the pressure. Pressure which could EASILY have resulted in life threatening rupture, sepsis and possible death. Due to the lack of competency in a critical, time-sensitive emergency, next time I will use St Luke's. When my life is at stake, I will no longer trust what I assumed were trained professionals in what is considered the best hospital in the Houston Medical Center.
Brought my husband here because he had serious inflammation, vomiting vigorously, having diahrhea, and was incredibly weak with fever like symptoms. He could not get up anymore. His blood pressure was to the roof. They did not see him more than two minutes. They denied treatment and said for him to see a rheumatologist and that they don't do CT scans etc. The least they could have done was took care of the serious symptoms!!! They said the inflammation was fluid and it would go away. They were wrong.. I was upset and left. We face a lot of discrimination because my husband is Mexican. A few weeks later, it became worse and he grew a huge lump on his neck. He could not perform any activity at all. I didn't Hesitate and took him straight to LBJ. They performed CT scans, X RAY, blood work, ETC. My husband was diagnosed with Polymyositis, Cellulitis, and Sapho syndrome. He sees a rheumatologist in LBJ and they are amazing. What a shame, Methodist.
I worked at the TMC in Surgical ICU last year and it was the most soul crushing job that I have ever worked. Management's priority was self preservation at the expense of the nurses, especially in SICU. This was the absolute worst unit in the facility to work. The manager navigated the unit in mute mode. Never did she have a smile, a word of encouragement, or even a hello. I am so glad that I got out of that hell hole and completed my AGNP degree.
The best hospital in Houston all very clean excellent care the best
Doctors I was there for 2 weeks and all the staff very nice people treated me to the best in neurology
Hate this place. All they think, how to cheat and take more money/ I paid upfront full amount. Week later they sent me a bill with amount - 2 times higher, I paid. They don't want to talk. Don't reply to letters. Stay away from those predators
I had a BMT done at HM. I'm doing all my outpatient care there. Well organized, all staff cares about the patient. I was at MDA before, and prefer HM as MDA gave me the impression I was in a factory.
This is a 'hospital' that is trying to kill a conscious patient, David Christopher Dunn, simply because he is costing them too much in terms of profit. Dunn has been pleading for his life, and each time, the Administrators have refused his pleas, going to court to enforce their decision to remove his treatments. I guess this is what Methodists call 'Christianity'. Don't go here if you want to live!
The emergency department is honorable they treat you like a number u get pushed into a room with other sick people a d u wait for hours. I was there 4 hours before I even got seen by a nurse except for triage desk. It was a horrible experience
Great service and makes sure that you come in and out efficiently !
I had surgery in June 2020 and stayed overnight at the hospital. Everything went well, from my first doctor's visit to pre-op /post-op care. I appreciated the extra measures the hospital had taken to ensure my safety. My room on the 12th floor of Fondren far exceeded my expectation. It was spacious and cozy like a hotel suite!
From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank my surgeon Dr. Aparna Kamat for her empathy and expertise, and all my care takers who were attentive to my needs during my stay!
Horrible customer service somehow ended up calling my mom about a procedure I was having done will not ever been going here
They call me over and over for a woman named Karen. Every department does. I don't know Karen. I can't get them to take my phone number out of their system. They don't communicate between departments. I now know what kind of medical condition she has because they left it on my voicemail, which violates HIPPA guidelines.
I came here for abdominal pain and a few other symptoms. I went back to the room very quick and the nurses and doctors were very friendly. I got an x ray and the technicians I guess their title is were incredibly friendly and helped me stay comfortable. I declined some medication they tried to give me and they were polite about it and didn t force me. The only thing negative I would have to say is that my experience with getting my blood drawn and IV put in could be a little better. I ve had two traumatizing experiences at previous hospitals with getting my blood drawn and an IV put in. I m always very uncomfortable and scared when I see the bottles or needles I have panic attacks and while I was screaming, crying, and shaking while the nurse was doing what he needed to do they could ve been a little more comforting towards me. The comments that were said to me just made me feel worse. That s not a huge deal tho other than that I had a great overall experience here. This is the first hospital I ve been to that actually gave me a diagnosis and actually made me feel like I know what s going on with my body after I leave.
Nurse Gabrielle very horrible, rude, does not know what she is doing. Should have what little nursing license she does have taken away....
Houston Methodist Texas Medical Center. The best Drs, Nurses, and PCAs
I just want to say thank you so much babes!!!!! Everyone was amazing, nice, and made you feel the most comfortable you could be I highly recommend this place to anyone.
Disappointing. Nurse gave my mom the flu due to unhygienic practices. We suspect her wallet was stolen out of her purse while getting a CT scan. Seriously, couldn t have had a worse experience in this aging institution. Doesn t live up to its reputation.
Update: Wallet was found by a police officer nearby and confirmed stolen. All that was missing was a few bucks cash. We suspect staff.
Unfortunately I am lying in a bed in this horrible place with hopes of leaving tomorrow. . Do not come here. I have spent several months here and this place has forced me too suffer endlessly. I will have a long update soon. Methodist there are LAWS to protect the innocent.
I'm giving 4 stars because the staff and doctors where Great, rooms where clean, everyone was super friendly, my only problem was the fees for parking. I feel like if I need to stay and make sure my loved ones or who ever is going to be okay, then why charge so much just to step foot into the building, and Lord forbid I have to leave to get a bite to eat or anything, I get charged all over again 50 bucks in 4 days is ridiculous just to be able to visit my family. Oh make sure Everyone rides together if You have different work schedules, each car that goes through that parking garage no matter how long Your there. I just think it's greedy on the hospitals part, when Your already stressed out that Your Loved ones may die.
I'm a healthy 42-year old man who recently went to my neighborhood Methodist Hospital Outpatient Emergency Room (in Missouri City, near Sienna Plantation) around 11 pm one evening because I fainted unexpectedly, after getting off my sofa (while walking to the bathroom). I quickly recovered afterward and drove myself to the nearby clinic. I requested the service of speaking with a doctor to see what caused me to faint. The doctor performed some routine test and checked my vitals. She said I needed to perform a CAT (CT) scan in order to determine a potential cause for my issue. After reviewing the results of the CT scan, she told me I needed to have further tests performed at the main Sugar Land Hospital; however, a bed wouldn't be available till around 4 am in the morning. I specifically asked her if it was absolutely necessary for me to go through this extent since every test she performed came out negative. She stated, "You have insurance, right?" I responded, "yes, but I don't feel it was necessary to get more tests performed because I feel fine and I'm scared about receiving a large medical bill later on." She then responded, "not to worry, the reason you have insurance is to cover you in these instances." She then disappeared. After waiting several hours, an ambulance team showed up to take me to the main hospital. The ambulance arrived at the Methodist Sugar Land Hospital around 4 am and a nurse carted me to my room. She told me to get some rest because the doctor won't be able to see you until 1 pm later that afternoon. When the doctor finally arrived to my room she told me they needed to run several tests to determine what caused me to faint. The test she ordered included an MRI, ultrasound, and several others. The last test was performed around 4pm in the afternoon. Then, another doctor returned to my room and stated all of my test came out negative and I was free to go after the paperwork was completed. By 6 pm, I was discharged from the hospital. A month later I started receiving bills from various sources that totaled my out-of-pocket expenses to around $5,000. The actual bill I received from the Sugar Land Hospital stated I was being charged $27,000 for 1-day stay in the hospital, which was not acuate since I was only in the hospital from 4 am to 6 pm. The majority of my time was spent waiting on the doctor to show up. A few weeks later, I also received other bills from the ambulance provider, the radiology company and the outpatient ER clinic. This large financial expense (that I'm now obligated to pay) was exactly what I was trying to avoid if the first place because it wasn't absolutely necessary for them to perform the number tests that were ordered by their doctors. I entrusted their integratey to do what was right and I believe they failed at doing so. It's obvious their intentions were to run up my bill, so they (The Methodist Hospital) could file for services that weren't unwarranted (to my insurance provider). This case is a great example of what's wrong in our society and why we need better statues/laws that protect consumers (and insurance providers) from irresponsible and "greedy" healthcare institutions, like The Methodist Hospital.
Very good hospital. We drive from west Louisiana to see doctors associated with this hospital. Very satisfied.
I frequent the Methodist Hospital with my grandparents. They always have fast and convenient nurses. I also really enjoy that it's a stop on the MetroRail. It makes getting there to help my grandparents a lot easier.
I'm rating the ER, where I went today. It was by far the worst experience I ever have had, and I have great insurance. A nurse practioner came and saw me, no Dr. My complaint was numbers, pain down my arm, history of aginoma, stated my pain been getting worse by day, he flat said he couldn't help me. No check ups at all. Except vital signs. How wonder medical care/premiums cost me so much. He said the only way to get an MRI was to have fallen out a 5 star building. So I'm not sure what it would have taken for me to be taken seriously. If it wasn't for messaging a very awesome team of Neuro while in there and walk down to see me I'd be waiting till jan in pain that beings me tears. This is unacceptable. In so many ways, I didn't drive that far, pay all that money, to be seen by a nurse practioner in the er. Ridiculous.
Had to bring a loved one here who was having cardiac trouble & a hard time breathing. Went to triage, from the sheriff standing outside to the check in desk everyone except 1 person was so unconcerned, they literally did not care. I'm going to get that 1 ladies name that does vitals. She deserves recognition. Everyone else is in the wrong field. I can only imagine how many people hv died there due to their utter lack of concern for patients. No one wanted to do their job. The dr smelled like he just came from happy hour & he was dirty. Throw the whole triage department away!
I can not say enough about the Emergency Staff and the staff on hand as a whole. My grandmother was transported there from nursing home unresponsive via ambulance. By the time I parked and walked into her room, it was fully staffed with dr on call and a room full of nurses. It took them less than 5 mins to get all her info and send her off for her MRI, xrays, etc. Within 15 mins the dr came back and gave us the news that she would not be coming home with us that she may only live a couple more days. She was very honest and compassionate about my grandmother and the whole situation that was taking place. We as a family could not have asked for a better dr and nursing staff on hand. They moved her to a non emergency room and accommodated for 6 people to stay the night with her incase she passed. The hospitality here was unreal like non of us have seen at any other hospital. The preachers also came multiple times to check on my grandmother and our family. She passed the next day peacefully at Methodist. Again, thank you Methodist Hospital and your whole staff that cared for my grandmother while she was there.
I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I ve been to Methodist numerous times and have usually been impressed by the care they provide. However this last time, my father was sent to the new tower that they just completely building. It was a terrible experience.
The staff was poorly organized and poorly trained. Many of the new nurses were incapable of caring for my father because he was a tall and large man. They often required my help.
The staff were not attentive and took forever for them to answer the call light. Most of them did not know what was going on with my father s plan of care and I had to inform him on numerous issues.
I honestly would think twice about sending my parents or coming myself to this hospital. I was not impressed and greatly disappointed with the level of care that they provided. They have a reputation for providing some of the best care, but on this occasion they failed epically.
Methodist Hospital and Methodist Doctors have always been my hospital of choice since 2008. So very disappointed patient care. They are not the same caring hospitaI based on my last stay in Jan. I also find it suspicious that I was not sent a survey for my hospital stay. This would not look good for thier 5 star rating. Which sadly made me fill out a google review. I would highly recommend other hospitals in the area. Hermann Memorial and UT Physicians or UT MD Anderson are very caring, listen to concerns, explain your care, and allowed to ask questions. Worst Care and treatment I have ever had!
The facility is clean but the billing can use some help.
I can't say enough about this hospital. The doctors, nurses & support staff made all the difference in my father's successful liver & kidney transplant. For at least 10 years we were in and out of this hospital. The physicians and staff always made us feel at ease knowing my dad was in the best care possible. We are forever grateful and highly recommend this hospital for it's professionalism, care and hospitality. It was well worth the 3 hour drive we had to take in order to get him the best care in the world.
