For a standard abdominal ultrasound Methodist charges $1,990!!! Unfortunately, I didn't call around prior but trusted my doctor who referred me to Methodist. That was a huge mistake. I checked several scan centers after though and found the average charge for this service is about $200-300. According to the United Healthcare procedure estimator, the average charge for this procedure in my area is $145!!! Methodist is obviously gouging patients in amounts that in my mind borders on psychotic criminal. I would STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM METHODIST AS POSSIBLE. Period.
