Been a customer for over 10 years, then this year it all went downhill. First, they messed up my appointment for an emerald advance review and had me wait for almost 2 hours. Then, the employee submitted my info with the wrong info causing a delay in processing. Then it took 48 hours to get reset before trying again. Then they closed and had limited hours so I couldn't get in to finish the review. Now today they tell me the emerald advance promotion is over. Seriously this is the WORST experience I have ever had at any company. Staff was rude, couldn't even fathom why I would be upset, accepted ZERO responsibility for their mistakes, and then offered no options to even attempt to keep my business. This was at the location at 253 Woodland Blvd, Deland, FL.

Not a single employee worth keeping if you'd ask me. They turned a long time customer and changed me into someone who will NEVER use their services again.

This kid Raymend Emmanuel, he is so arrogena, we have paid them 285 USD for filing our taxes, man he is like a little kid, he just wants to talk doesn't wants to listen, my wife has been their Clint from last two years but this year it all went down like a rain. Man he was high, he was talking to himself. I have no idea what's wrong with him. Boy take care.dont ruin H&R blocks.

My tax preparer Debbie Ferguson in Edinburgh, IN has been a phenomenal tax preparer for me for the past 5+years. The H & R Block Company is a disgrace. They double charged my credit card on their website when I was trying to get to review my return that had been prepared in another state. I found out later that my card had actually been run a total of 6 times & I still never got to view my return online. When I called to try to get the charges reversed I spent 88 minutes on the phone transferred to a different operator 6 times and never got it resolved. Giving them one more chance to make this right, I am on the phone with them now. I am speaking to the third operator after 33 minutes and she just put me on hold to try to figure it out. I doubt there will be any resolution to my situation so my next step will be to call the headquarters in Kansas City, MO on Monday. When I contacted my credit card company on two separate occasions I was told nothing could be done until the pending status was removed or 5 business days had passed. I've now been transferred to the 5th operator and her supervisor making the 6th person again that I've spoken to from H & R Block. I WILL BE CALLING HQ on Monday.

Strictly for their parking. Used to be a good place to park after hours and on weekends to catch a movie. They've recently jacked up their rates. One downtown movie theater validates for parking, which used to make it free on Sundays. Now it's posted at $3, which is not great but at least it's acceptable. Unfortunately H&R Block Parking can't even abide by their own posted rates. I had my parking ticket validated and was still charged $16 for parking on a Sunday. I verified with the theater that all they can do is validate the ticket. It's up to H&R Block to accept it, and they didn't. They didn't even bother to update their website with the new prices, just slapped on some new signs. Still, not accepted a legally validated parking ticket is unacceptable. I won't be parking here again and will be letting others know not to do so as well. Sure, our measly few bucks won't hurt them but considering how much the company makes anyhow, you'd think they could afford to accept validated parking tickets and honor their own posted rates.

We had a horrible experience with H&R Block's online tax service. We caught multiple mistakes made by the "tax pro" and it took days of talking in circles to get the issues resolved. Further, we encountered issues with the website when trying to finally sign our return. When we called customer service, we kept getting dropped after being on hold for 20+ minutes. We will never use H&R Block again and wouldn't recommend anyone else do so.

to whon it may concern ,we have filed our taxes with H&R block for many years and never had a problem until this year we get a letter from the IRS for our 2011 taxes . they tell us that we have to pay the IRS $1992.00 all do to one of your employee not imputing unemployeement in, and since we did not pay for the peace of mind after already paying $325.95 to get our taxes done ,its not H&R's responsibility but they will pay $62.00 .i mean come on $62.00 out of $1992.00 when it wasnt even our fault it was one of your employees that messed up not us we gave her all the paper work she needed but didnt input it in right so now we are out not only the $1992.00 ,penaltys, interst on top of that .and we feel if your employee did her job right we would not be out all this money that we dont have and we will not be going back to any H&R block anywhere ever again .to us if a company as big as H&R block cant stand behind a long time customer then its not a place where we want to go anymore ,its all about the money with H&R block before they will stand up for a 10 year plus customer just aint right ,so after this you all will not just loss one long time customer but more just because they see how you all really are now either pay more money to us or we wont help you for one of our employees screw up and then tell us they will pay $62.00 and yet we still have not seen that ,so yes we are very unhappy customers and will never us H&R block again due to this BIG TIME SCREW UP BY ONE OF YOUR EMPLOYEER!!!!

Terrible, they have done my return twice with the IRS and still wrong. We are working in it again. Now I owe money. They missed documents. I paid for piece of mind. It's my fault. I New they were wrong on the 1st return show Beverly and she would not listen. Paid my taxes $1,100. Took it to another office they claimed to fix it. I got back $2,200. Then I find out they both missed forms. Not my fault! Can I talk to anyone! NO!!!!

Used to be a five star rating. I am a retired Military Vet after 40 years and could file my taxes with H&R for free no matter what the case was, owning home or homes, investments or anything. This year I paid 24.99 so I would have audit backup. Also everytime I ran into a question the software would ask me to upgrade to get an answer, or when i went into UTMA and investments...wanted another 39.99. I want to know how to clean out everything on the H&R site...I will use another program next year...or Turbo Tax, why not, same price when it is all said and done. Amazing how these companies get you hooked and then charge....pretty much like our Government

We filed an extension in April at the Dawsonville, Georgia and we are now told the office LOST our file! All our documents are gone. EVERYTHING. We went to the Thompson Bridge location to attempt to finish filing our taxes and when we walked in an employee was on the phone with someone explaining to them they LOST her file as well. We maxed out our charitable giving etc. and they lost our receipts. AND this is a common problem apparently!!!!!

I am a tax preparer for 8 years. I've seen all the problems that people say they have. If you want to make H&R great again, here is what i'm hearing.
Prices to high. No one to greet you at the door.
First of all i'm just a regular person that loves doing taxes.
When you have your taxes done always, i do mean always check the account number and routing #of your bank that you want it sent to. This has to come from you and watch them as they put it in, also ask questions. We are humans too.
As much as giving away all that money was a waste. Sometimes is better to talk the tax preparers or send an e-mail to them and ask " what can we do to make this a better year" they can give you more answers then anyone else. We deal with the public everyday and can be a lot more helpful than you think.
Just saying the people that work at H&R Block are great people and would love to help the Headquarters get more and more clients this is what needs to be done.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DONT PROVIDE ACCURATE SERVICE. I was told by Blockheads I would be getting a refund of $5k, It turns out I owe the IRS $695. I have been given the run around, customer service is from random call centers not Block employees. NEVER AGAIN

Louis Johnson is the best! He prepared amended tax returns for my last years federal and state returns. He's been in the biz for a long while can pretty much be described as a tax genie! Very professional, very deliberate, and I will totally be going back to him if I have any issues with my taxes going forward. Can't recommend him enough.

Avoid H&R Block if you can. They do not stand behind their work at the local office. After admitting that their preparer made a mistake, they told us we were "out of luck" about paying additional taxes because we did not buy the special insurance they tried to sell us. Scam from a financially failing company. Use a local CPA.

I had my tax return done by H&R block ....They Messed it up and now I am trying to straighten it out with a Regional Manager that doesn't respond to his agents request for direction on how to solve my problem.....It's all on them ....all the information they requested was correct on our end..... they filed it incorrectly ...Now I'm late with my return OH no.... no longer a return .... I have to pay now....and my EX wife also has to return what she received ...what a mess with no help from the people that screwed it up in the first place.

I have been a user of the H&R Block Deluxe software tax preparation software for 5 years. I have been generally happy with the accuracy and flexibility of the software. HOWEVER, this year I have experience very poor quality support for their software as highlighted by the following 2 points:

1. Software "Help Center - Chat for Support". Per HR Block software, the chat facility is available 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm. daily M-F. I entered the chat window on June 29th at 8:30 a.m. The virtual agent continually responded "We re sorry we missed you! Chat is currently closed. To see our current business hours, please search support hours in Help". It was impossible to contact a live agent.

2. On the web, the HR support sites were all focused on on-line tax preparation support. After going in "circles" via software links, it was impossible to easily find a site that was just focused on tax software. How about providing a support community that is not on Facebook for those who do not like to use Facebook.

I can only scratch the surface of how incompetent and unprofessional H & R Block are both on a regional and national level. They are impossible to deal with, you are passed around each department. I have tried several times to speak with the manager at the regional office. Initially his office staff didn t know who he was, when he d be back. I even asked if he was on holiday, they didn t know. Eventually I had to speak to national level.

H&R Block has failed to honor agreements and has breached several contracts I have had with H&R Block. Moreover, H&R Block has failed to meet Circular 230 H & R Block had a Primary Responsibility to prepare my taxes on an accurate basis. I have been a client with H&R BLOCK of Glenwood Springs, Colorado since 2002. My taxes need to be completed with fiduciary duty each tax year since 2002. For the tax years of 2010 and 2011 the IRS audited me and stated my taxes were completed incorrectly. H&R BLOCK of Glenwood Springs and their tax accountants did not act with fiduciary duty when filing my taxes 2010/11. It was H&R Blocks legal duty to act solely in my interest as my tax representatives, moreover, this has failed to occur In 2010, I had initially requested a foreign tax specialist and H&R BLOCK of Glenwood Springs, Co. Yet when I arrived they had scheduled me with a non-foreign tax specialist. This was the first instance of incompetence shown by this local H&R BLOCK. H&R BLOCK to filed my taxes for 2010 and 2011 however H&R BLOCK filed my taxes in error, using FORM 1040NR for Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return placing me as tax exempt under Article 20 of the U.S.-United Kingdom Tax Treaty. Yet, US United Kingdom Tax Treaty allows treaty benefits for a two-year period. Thursday the 14th of March, 2013, Tyler Whitmore the District Manager for H&R B GW Spr, CO contacted me via telephone(I had a witness (I had a witness in the room I am a school teacher). He asked me what I wanted. I stated he was aware of what I wanted, and Tyler replied that he was going to pay the bill in full. I inquired as to how the full payment would be made. He said that hed write to corporate office, have the check written and then send the check. I asked if he was going to mail the full payment direct to the IRS, he said they wouldnt and that they would mail it directly to me. This puzzled me greatly.

I'm demanding H & R Block pay my bill in full. The Glenwood Springs agreed to completely pay my bill, he even told me to contact the IRS and ask them to hold off for 1 month while they get the check together. This was supposed to be their job. HRB impossible to contact, no one knows the names of managers or how to talk to each other, this goes on at HQ. I want what I was promised and intend exhausting every avenue until this happens. This is a poorly run organization. Other stuff this no caring business does is:

Calls are never returned

No communication between departments. They say they do not know how to contact other departments.

The manager is never in the office and they don't know his name or cannot find it.....

I intend to exhaust things with regards to legal action not only are they liable for their actions, but they are also shoddy in regards to customer relations, their communications are terrible, the way I m bounced around is embarrassing. The lack of interest is diabolical, sadly I put all of my trust into these people, I certainly will never use them again, neither will my friends and family.

USE H & R BLOCK GLENWOOD SPRINGS AT YOUR PERIL!

Would give it a lower rating if possible. DO NOT USE THEIR EMERALD CARD SERVICES, IF FRAUD HAPPENS YOU'RE NOT PROTECTED!! THEY DO NOT DO FRAUD INVESTIGATIONS THEY GUESS. I'VE CALLED THE MERCHANT THE PURCHASES HAVE BEEN MADE THROUGH AND THEY SAID THEY WILL GIVE ME THE MONEY BACK BECAUSE IT IS FRAUD BUT THE FINACIAL INSTITUTE HAS TO CALL THEM, STANDARD FRAUD INVESTIGATION PROCEEDURE, AND THEY REFUSE TO!! We've been using H&R Block for a few years now. This year we were referred to using the File Federal Online for free since we only have the standard 1040 to file and can avoid additional charges for the extra w2's (suggested by a tax expert). We filed our taxes on 6/16/2020 and expected some delay due to the pandemic and all the other government issues going on. We received notice that our taxes had be filed electronically and even a statement that there may be an extra week or two for processing and expected return. Fast forward to 8/10/2020 we had yet to receive our tax return, after some digging into it turns out that H&R Block has not submitted it even though I have documentation stating that it had. So now I have been reaching out the H&R block who has informed me on 2 separate occasions that they would reach back out to me. I have spent hours now sitting in multiple hold queues and waiting for call backs that do not happen. One person told me to mail in my taxes, another has informed me to start over and do the online again. The only answer I have received is that it is stuck in their server.

The one Me and my wife went to was a kennel with a big dog running around the office and then she does not tell us theres a 40.00 dollar fee to have it taken out of your refund and when I get home is when I find out so I take a check back in for the fee and the gril there calls my wife and says its to late to get our 40.00 dollars back and she still has my check and all this comes two 390.00 for a 179.00 dollar tax prep fee. And before we left the frist time she says to me and my wife she can do what ever she wants she,s indpendent Thats when I said we,ll see what Hand R block said.This was a Hand R block in Dumas Texas not headquarters I am sure they do not steal there customers money!!

Case #1192428. I went to an H&R Block 1 year ago in Glenwood Springs, CO and my taxes were so badly messed up the manager offered me a $200 credit for this year. I moved to Atlanta and my credit could not be honored because of my new location. This to me is not acceptable. When you want to return a clothing item to a store do you have to go back to the exact location that you purchased it from? I can not help that I moved but the credit should still be upheld to a loyal customer. It has been 5 months of an open case and I keep having to call to check. Today Megan told me things were slow bc it is not tax season which I then had to remind her that I started the complaint during tax season. I asked Megan if I could escalate to a manager and apparently she is as high as my complaint will go because she let me know that it is not beneficial for someone to look at a franchise complaint. Wow they sure have a way to keep the H&R Block name in good standing. If franchises can do whatever they like that is pretty scary!

For the second year in a row, I have additional pending charges. I should be charged $21.15 ONE time, not FOUR. So now I get to wait three days for the $63.45 to "drop off" is what I was told. This is evidently an issue with your e-filing service, and needs immediate attention. I will not use this tax software in the future. Bummer, because the product works well.

I did our taxes last year online. This year I had to reset my password, it takes 5 to 24 hr for a security number, to reset your password, but the system has timed out, I had to start over and over. So I called they found my account but couldn t help me. Then I called again, they didn t find my account, then I tried to reset my account again manually, the system is saying I don t have any account. ? 2015, 2016, 2017. Is there anyone who can help me? Are we living in a world of likes and friends and not customers service. When a company doesn t respond it means they don t care. I don t see one response from this company.

Horrible experience. The appointments will be delayed by 10-15 minutes which we can understand, but after the H&R block team
start's preparing the tax document the real story begins.

1) They keep searching on their desktop for 5-10 minutes to open the Tax Application, which keeps logging off after sometime and every time you have to see the they type letter by letter and belive me it gets frustated to see
2) They have no idea how to file ITIN, they keep checking with their colleagues, other people will come and ask so be prepared to repeat the same thing 3-5 times
3) After you get the ITIN, don't be relaxed they don't have a clue whats has to be done, same story will be repeated.
4) Be prepared to know about everything, because the H&R block team will ask basic questions, they can't even read the tax return form which you have filled.

I can go on and on

And finally take the appointment for 180 minutes, 60 minutes I bet all they do is arrange the documents in a proper order and ask you a simple question, do you have to leave now?

When you try to update your account information, instead of simple Check Boxes they have those silly sliding buttons that seem to work backwards - "ON" seems to be "OFF", VERY CONFUSING and no where on any HR Block website does there seem to be a way to send them a message.

BEWARE to anyone using their Emerald Advance! They are denying people who have been approved in previous years, and refuse to elaborate farther than saying it is due to "income". When I tried to speak to someone about it, I was told that the "bank" makes the decisions and it is impossible to talk to them. I requested the terms and conditions showing the stipulations to qualify, and was told someone will call me in 24 hours. Well it's been well over 24 hours and no call! When I expressed my concerns on Facebook they promptly blocked me from accessing their Facebook page. I was not rude, aggressive, or harassing, just trying to warn others before they had an unnecessary credit report hit, as they would probably be denied as well. I have done business with H&R Block for over 10 years, and this has ended that! Shame on H&R Block for treating their customers so horribly, you won't have many customers left if it keeps up! I will say that the tax preparer at the office I went to was VERY nice and it's unfortunate that I won't be able to have her do my taxes.

I was given the wrong tax documents when I had my taxes done. I was given 2013 Estimated Tax Forms instead of tax forms for the year 2014. I have wasted hours on the phone trying to get someone to send me the right forms. My local office is closed until January of 2015. Try explaining to the IRS that you couldn't send your estimated taxes because you couldn't get the right forms.

I also tried printing the forms from the IRS site, as one of the many H&R Block CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS suggested, and I got so tied up in getting my printer to synch with the site that my printer is now offline.

This is a disgrace. Last rep told me my public library would have the forms, and she was a supervisor. My public library said she's misinformed, the only time they have forms is at the end of the year.

What a joke!!!
