The best in customer service. Put the customer needs first. Listened and gave options for repairs. No pressure tactics. Very informative as to the problems. Just a very nice and knowledgeable person. Seemed caring. Mike B. was just great. All in all a very pleasant experience. I have been using Genz Ryan for many years. Thank you Mike.

A few days ago we had a new water heater installed . The technician was Tom Ronia.We can only say good things about him. He was efficient , professional and we are very satisfied with his work. Also, Tom is very pleasant, polite and neat. We will recommend him and Genz-Ryan Plumbing to anybody.

I had an immediate plumbing issue and googled plumbers in my area and Genz-Ryan was the first provider that came up. I called and was able to get a next day appointment. The person answering the phone was helpful and explained their process thoroughly. Joel, my technician, was so friendly! I had a huge project and he was at my home most of the day, was a pleasure to have him in my home. He had great communication and was patient with my 5 year old daughter who wanted to chat with him while he worked. He took time to answer her questions as to what he was doing. He was professional. I would definitely recommend this company and Joel in particular. My project was big so another technician, Shawn also came to help. He was also very professional and efficient. So grateful for these guys and that the issue was resolved same day! Couldn t have asked for more!

Beware.

The technician they sent to my house tried to pressure me into making a fast $7500.00 decision about what turned out to be a made-up issue. Phil put a camera in my main waste pipe and pretended to try and break through a clog. He said if I decided in two days that they would give me $1000 off, if I took more than two days it would be $8500.00. He said I could have a basement full of waste water at any time. He also told me to use his personal number not to call the main Genz-Ryan number but to call his personal number instead.

The technician (Phil) said I needed to have my yard dug up to fix a waste pipe and that they needed to bust through the floor in my basement to fix another pipe leading to the main pipe.

I was able to get another company to come in that same night, and their technician took less than 15 minutes to set up, stick the camera in the pipe and poke through a wad of toilet paper. He said there seemed to be nothing wrong with either pipe.

I have read most of your other customers coments. Noah Fieldseth is fantisic. Very knowledgeable,polite ,helpful. Noah gors the extra miles to do what it takes to fix problems. he answered multiple questions. The whole Genz-Ryan team is an example of how to run a business. WOW Keep up the good work. Furnace experienced two failures within three (3) months of living at residence. Called Genz-Ryan both times and was treated courteously on the phone while scheduling an appointment. Both visits were scheduled the day of my call so that was another plus.

Jeff P was the Genz-Ryan HVAC technician that visited my home on both occurrences. He was courteous, punctual and very knowledgeable about the equipment he was repairing. He was more than happy to take on my barrage of questions so I could more clearly understand the root issue and how he fixed it. I would definitely recommend Genz-Ryan, and in particular Jeff P, when looking for a furnace. The service experience after purchase has been fabulous.

Max was such a trooper given the disaster he walked into. I had a granite install where the owner said he could do my plumbing successfully. He tried and failed, so I was left without drains overnight. By the way, don't use Epic Granite MN for anything. Max came in from Genz Ryan, was calm, kind, fair, and explanatory about what was going on. He did a superb job, cleaned up after himself and left me with no worries about what the future holds for my pipes and new faucets/garbage disposal. Thanks, Max! From the bottom of my heart.

Their so called tech. guys are simply sales people. Nothing was done to diagnos the problem but the nice "tech" guy spent the majority of his time coming up with different packages to sell me. After some research online for my Venmar air exchanger I have chossen to attempt to do the work myself.

I write this review on behalf of my elderly mother, Carol N Lang, who gave me her explicit and written permission to share this review documenting her experience. This company had google delete my negative review from yesterday, so I have amended it and am reposting on her behalf.

She is in a state of complete despair over the experience at Genz Ryan. So much so that we are forced to look to legal action. My mother who called me in tears because this company's aggressive sales team (whom they refer to as "technicians") bullied her into buying a new air conditioner IN OCTOBER when she called them for a simple heating service. A home inspection for this property (documented) was done two weeks prior showing the A/C was in perfect working order.

I am certain this company will claim they were merely serving their customer, but what they won't dispute is that THEIR TECHNICIANS ARE PAID BIG COMMISSIONS TO UPSELL EXPENSIVE INSTALLS.

So ask yourself, why would a company pay service technicians, sent to a home to offer repair services sales commissions? Are they in your home to give honest advice, or, are they going to sell your grandmother, mother or other disoriented senior you know an air conditioner they don't need in the middle of winter?

From the easy scheduling with Shelby to the excellent service provided by Noah we could not be happier with Genz-Ryan. Noah fixed our AC with hot weekend weather coming. He went out of his way to explain our options and found us most cost efficient repair. Luckily we did not need new this time but I am sure when we do there will be another call to Genz-Ryan.

I continue to be angry that we ever worked with Genz-Ryan. We had them fix some plumbing issues, and install a toilet and water filtration system. Our toilet stack was cracked and leaking so we were in a hurry to get that remedied and didn't shop around and were naive to whole the process. They just picked our toilet without discussing any options. I would not have picked this style toilet now that I've looked around. They couldn't provide any info on the products or the companies they got them from because of the contracts they had. We have since had work done from other companies and they are upfront about everything and when we told them about this experience they were shocked. We don't know anything about our filtration system because it isn't branded and they couldn't provide us with anything at the time. Recently our power went out and re-set the filtration system so we need to adjust the timer and it would cost $99 for them to come out and do something that will take 1 minute because I've seen them do it before. They refused to offer help over the phone even when we're in the middle of a pandemic. The filtration system is supposed to last a lifetime and it's just going to continue to remind me of how much I regret ever working with Genz-Ryan. I would never recommend them to anyone.

We worked with Alex Breuer and he provided an exceptional experience, and was able to provide great tips and suggestions for our current projects and care for the home! He was very social while completing the job quickly!

We had a great experience with a new air condition and electrical box upgrade install. The entire team was prompt and professional, Kelsey in particular was extra great! Would have given 5 stars but the equipment had some issues that had to be corrected that resulted in a couple extra service visits. Otherwise 5 star service!

Genz-Ryan did all HVAC work on our home in 2011. Have had furnace and AC issues. Last year we had a leak in AC coil. G-R technician recommended sealant and dye, stating that this resolved the issue 90% of the time. Predictably, coil failed again this summer. Have talked to four other HVAC companies, all said coil should have been replaced because of their high failure rate. Complete waste of $800+. Of course, no warranty on work and only two year warranty on new equipment. Very profitable business model, but unfortunately poor customer service in our experience.

We had an emergency Toilet overflow issue fairly late at night. They let us know the soonest they could be here was the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised with a text that Matt was on his way along with a bit about him and a photo. Matt came right on time, and listened to what happened, took a thorough look and found a even more pressing issue. There was never a rush to get to the next place, more then enough options to fix the concerns. Super impressed and plan to use them from now on. Highly recommend especially Matt.

My appointment was still 5 days away, but they had a cancellation and called me to see if today would work. It did and they showed up a few hours later. Loved that. Technician was courteous, did a thorough analysis of the plumbing through my entire house (not just the problem I called about), diagnosed the problem and offered a range of solutions. He addressed special questions and concerns I had and was very customer centered. Great experience!

UPDATE - I will not be changing my 1-star scoring at this time. If Genz-Ryan would like to label me a disgruntled customer then so be it. Questionable business practices should be questioned. After almost $4,000 spent, I have lots of questions.

Genz-Ryan did contact me and offered to send someone out to. A technician came out. His response was that they couldn't really do anything with the AC at this time since it is the fall, and that we should try calling them out early next spring. I find this to be convenient yet again, because the warranty on the first job they did will be expiring at that time. But wait, there's more! He found another issue - the circuit board of the furnace was supposedly "dead", and guess what? More $$ spent. I guess they are done milking us for the AC repairs and are moving over to heating now. We requested to purchase a warranty on this work too and they said it could only be warrantied for a month, and, "this isn't the type of work that needs to be warrantied because nothing happens". Yeah, I've heard that before, and yet we still have to fork over more $$$ every-time a technician touches anything in our house. And he kept saying we should buy the Service plan instead. I swear, they have been trying to sell us this Service plan ever since they first came out, because, more $$$$$$$$ [I would like to talk to someone about this, for the record].

But that wasn't all! Something he did shut off our boiler. For 4 days we were without hot water. If you live in MN, you know what this is like. So we called again and they sent someone over. I'll give the credit for this one - this was the one time they did not charge us....although I wouldn't be surprised if an invoice showed up.

Again, I find it to be very, very convenient that every-time someone comes out and does any sort of work, another issue crops up. More issues, more $$$ spent. I'm sure they will claim that these repairs are unrelated, but come on. We are being taken advantage of. When the technician said the furnace circuit board replacement couldn't be warrantied for a longer than a month because "nothing goes happens", that just further solidified it for me.

I will say though, the technicians who were sent out were always professional. But they had a job to do - sell us stuff, up-sell the work and milk you for money, which they do very, very well.

I wouldn't recommend them at all. A simple ac tune-up/check up turned into a ~$3000 bill and our air conditioning is worse than before. I wouldn't recommend them. First, it was an electrical issue with our ac, that was a ~$1300 bill. The issue wasn't fixed. Next, it was a mechanical issue with our ac, that was a ~$1600 bill. Nobody wants to live in a hot house in the summer. You'd think that after spending all that money to fix the so-called electrical and mechanical issues, our ac would work and keep the house cool, but nope! After spending $3000, I just want them to undo all they've done so far and refund our money back. I'm willing to bet that if I invited another company over to do an ac checkup they'll still find issues with it, $$$$$. It's all a scam!

Noah was a personable technician who spent the time needed to fix my furnace even that it was after hours which is when some technicians do not always take the time needed to fix things right! I don t like writing reviews because they always seem hyperbolic, but I m going to go full hyperbole here: Karim was almost indescribably fantastic. I m primed to not expect much from contractors coming through. Most are grumpy, wanting to get in and out as fast as possible, while trying to upsell whatever products they can.

Karim was ridiculously personable. Enough so that my normally stranger-shy four year old tried to follow him around everywhere he went to chat, and even yelled out the window after him when he was done, Hey! You guy! Come back!

The service from Karim - and by extension Genz - has been pleasant, professional, compassionate (weird to type about an HVAC company) and reasonably priced.

They re definitely our go-to company from now on.

Service Technician Ryan was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. He broke down a multitude of different options and explained what it would entail. He went above and beyond when it came to fixing my heating issue. If I need any work on my furnace in the future Genz-Ryan is my choice. Hopefully Ryan will be available then too!

No one showed up....office seemed confused about who was coming and couldn't contact their service technician.....or tell me how mich longer I would have to wait. I took off work from 9:30 to 1:00....so I couldn't wait intil 2:00, 3:00 or 4:00 oclock. These are the people who advertise "love those guys"??????

Beware of this hi-tech fraud company. They will try to sell all the fancy stuff you don't need and rob you. Only reason I had to call this company is that they installed utilities in my town home when it was built in 2004. Technician who come to house to inspect are not really technicians, they are just pure sales men and their only goal is to convince you to buy expensive and stupid packages by intimidating about the condition of the utility under repair. I had to replace to my natural gas water heater, and technician who came to my home, spent some time at the tank as if he knows what he's doing, and came up with some nice looking and pricy packages on his ipad to replace it. When I asked about rebates from Centerpoint energy, he has no idea, and I could find all the information just by googling for 10 minutes, that any heater starting with .62 Energy factor is qualified for $70 rebate. At first I was almost convinced on buying $2500 package, but luckily talked to one of my friends and he suggested me to shop around and take quote from a different company. When I mentioned the same to Genz-Ryan sales guy, he tried to push me to decide quick saying tank could burst any time and flood my basement. And he said, if I don't want to buy expensive package, buy a cheaper one and they can "cut corners" to reduce the price. That's a deal breaker right there for me, how can they say "cut the corners" for such an important installation and it could put house and family in danger. Finally, I had to literally tell him to leave and payed $99 for the visit. I have contacted another company (heating and cooling 2), and the guy is so genuine and gave quotes on phone itself without pushing for obligatory service visit fee etc. I got my heater replaced on same day for $1325 ($70 mail in rebate on top of it) and I felt more than happy that I took a better decision not to go with Genz-Ryan. I figured that these hitech companies like Genz-Ryan spend lot of money on advertising and try to make up all that money from customers who cannot afford to research and shop around. I have learned that couple of my other friends also had similar experience with this company. Be careful with these hi tech companies and do due diligence to research your options before attempting to calling any specialists.

Matt Motz did a great job replacing our leaking water heater. He explained the options available, including the aspects of the equipment as well as the warranty, and did not use any up-selling pressure. This was appreciated. We selected the water heater we desired and it was installed in a timely manner. Matt took the time to lay out tarps to protect our carpeting and wore shoe covers. Matt was knowledgeable and friendly. He explained the operations for the newly installed equipment. Overall, a good experience.... even if an expensive one....

Nick Thelen did an excellent job reviewing my HVAC system, Water Purification System, Humidifier, Prestige Thermo with Gateway for wireless temp management, and was able to address my concerns with the bath fans and adding a fan to my laundry room. He evaluated the problem and offered several plausible solutions. Bill was professional and worked to repair the water heater. I usually don't write the review and complain about the service, but want to give heads up that yesterday we had the technicians visited our house for cleaning the duct lines. First, I am not sure this is a kind of same approaches that other contractors uses, but they missed several spots in the quote process and suddenly asked us to pay more because the duct counting was not correctly done. In addition, the quote should include the exhaust fan cleaning as well (I was told this), but they asked about $130 per each additional lines in the bathroom, adding up to $500... I chose this business because I thought that the cost is fair and good google review than other contractors. However we eventually have paid more than that other company asked. Furthermore, I spent whole afternoon until 9 pm to clean up all the dust flowing on the floor and mattress, it looks like I tried to clean the house and have better air quality, but it is actually not, living with old dirty dust. Also, the technician left the house without checking air flow and vent dampers' position, so I had to figure out air circulation, because the dampers in the main supply was closed and no airflow when I turned AC on. Although I appreciated the time that they took to clean the ducts, but this is not what I expect to deal with.

I have used Genz-Ryan for a water heater/in-floor system, new high-efficiency furnace, and a new high-efficiency AC system. They are absolutely outstanding at service, follow up, and installation! While they are able and willing to install more basic, lower cost equipment, they do a great job of explaining the benefits of each option. They do not try to up-sell the higher priced options. They always show up on time, are very courteous, professional, respectful and accommodating. The installations and service are top-notch. While their pricing is probably not the lowest, it is fair and I literally never have to worry about bad equipment, poor service, or any issues. Saving a few hundred dollars is not worth the hassles you get with a low quality service provider. These guys are 5 star. They provide "premium" service for a good price. Adam and Cody led the most recent installation and were exceptional. If you ever do have an issue, they will jump all over it until you are fully satisfied. Outstanding company!

Unfortunately we had to have our 10-year old water heater replaced today, however we're glad that Tom R. from Genz-Ryan was the person who took care of it for us. He was extremely personable and genuinely walked us through all of our options from the "bandaid" fix to the "platinum" option. We ended up with an option inbetween and never felt pressured either way. He gave us the options, answered our questions, and never once tried to push us in a particular direction. He is everything a service professional should be. Great job!
