I called customer service and when somebody picked up they just said "we're updating, call back in an hour" and hung up on me. Didn't even give me a chance to say anything. This is not the first time I've had trouble with Citi. If they didn't have the contract with Costco I'd cancel immediately. American Express was so much better.

What an unbelievably disorganized bank to open a savings account in. I want to immediately pull my money out but they can't even seem to get that done. Very scary to have put my savings there. Even seems like a scam. I hope not since I put 80k there!!! Stay away!!!!!!!

After fighting fraudulent charges on my account for two months I finally get a letter from Citi basically saying to "stop trying to get one around us and just pay your balance already or we'll report you to Equifax". Gee, thats what victims of fraud love to hear. Just go with Chase or AMEX if you're looking for a card with good customer service. You'll need it one day.

I have been Citi Bank customer for 17 years. Last month I got an email from them and informed me that they had closed my Master Card account because it had zero dollar balance and I had not used it for a while. I called them and in the phone they also mentioned that they might also close my checking account because I had not used it for a couple of years. This proved to me that Citi was not a reliable bank anymore. I transferred thousands of dollars that I had in my checking account to another bank. A couple of weeks later Citi charged me $12 maintenance fee because my checking account had $3 balance plus $35 because the over drafted me with $12 of maintenance fee. I called them and asked them to close my checking account. The said they cannot close my account and the would keep charging me for maintenance fees and over drafting fees in consequent months. This is completely rubbery and is not expected from a large bank with over 200 years of history.

Visited the one-room branch bank in first building at Sioux Falls, S.D. work location. I wanted to change my name on my credit card account.
I am dressed in yoga pants, blouse, make-up on my face, stiletto nails and carrying a purse. I am clearly transgender, and dressed as I wish to live.
When encountering a transgender (introduction, and/or business interaction) one of the first things to ask is, "What pronouns do you use?"

I expected simple courtesy. What I got was every 2nd sentence was HIM, HE...one of the three people in that office was clearly performing a passive aggressive insult to how I live.

Train your people better. (And hope they learn how to be polite during business hours.)

I am having a problem with the credit limit transfer from American Express. Citibank told me to write a letter and fax it with documentation to Sioux Falls. I sent a letter on 7/9 AND faxed them on 8/1. No one has contacted me to date. Can i give zero stars?

I live in Utah and have never used citibank, but somehow someone pulled almost all my money out of MY bank, from citibank Sioux Falls. Reading through other reviews looks like others have been through the same thing. Absolutely ridiculous

Try and call their 800 number and GOOD LUCK trying to speak to an actual human. The ONLY prompts are for payment, cancel account, etc. I've carried their card for years, and will continue to do so -but it's a sickening feeling not being able to speak to a person when the rare need arises. Thank you.

Tried to open a money market account with this bank. Nothing they did worked correctly. Their online bank transfer mechanism didn't work. When i reached someone and they tried to transfer money manually they screwed that up as well. Every time you called them you were sure to have to wait on hold with no estimate of how long the hold would be. Invariably, the first person couldn't help you and you would be transferred to a different department starting a new hold period. Fortunately i found another bank with a higher deposit rate and put my money there. Good riddance Citibank!

very poor website and no easy way to contact anyone (that's why 1 star). Tried to set up a log in to get free fico score and their system seized up just as I was finishing the process. Tried to go back in using the ID and password just created but it didn't work. Then to fix the problem, the system wants a "secret word" that I haven't established. What a fiasco. Get your IT in order Citi....

I am very pissed off right now....I just bought an LG tv from Best Buy in San Antonio and decided to open an account to get the 10% store credit back on a $3,500.00 plus purchase. I was approved in the store with no problem which I was confident that I would be approved as I have perfect credit.
That was a week ago. I just received a letter from Citibank welcoming me to and letting me know that I was approved for the account. They said my credit score was 703.....WRONG!!!! IT'S 824 AS OF TODAY AND WAS ACTUALLY 826 ON THE DAY I PURCHASED THE PRODUCT.

What the HELL is going on here. You can take your credit card and stick it. I have perfect credit and higher than the majority of the public. You can bet I will be calling your bank first thing tomorrow morning and get some answers!! Until then....PISSED OFF IN TEXAS!!! I would have given you a 0 rating but had to give at least a 1 star. You don't deserve that!!!

I have made multiple calls and cannot access my account. Technical support is only a name - you are sent to the Philippines. No one at the subcontractor is of any assistance. The only way to effectively communicate is to send a return receipt requested letter to the General Counsel of the company located in South Dakota.

I had a carpet business keep my credit card information without permission from the deposit transaction over the phone. The day the job was completed the sales person left a VM/email asking if I wanted to use the same card or use a different method. She never waited for a response and just charged it again right then without permission. I submitted the dispute that included her email "ASKING" me how I wanted to pay the same day of the charge. They just closed it out saying I had services completed with the business. Businesses are saving credit card numbers left and right and charging customers as they please. They need to be held accountable. CITI did not hold them accountable. I therefore closed my account in good standing I had since 2013. No thank you. If they didn't help me with this I can only imagine what would happen if a thief used my card number. Their customer service lines are terrible.

They charged my card interest for being one business day late on a payment and they did not want to reverse it, even though the payment was late due to a bank error.

They said they can not do anything regarding this.

I am in sheer disgust with this Citi Bank Simplicity. They have made the experience of a balance transfer from one credit card to another a living nightmare. They paid off My Walmart Master Card to the incorrect account and continue to have me make duplicate payments to them until this day!!! I have called and written them on several occasions and they refuse to contact me regarding this matter! I suggest if you decide to do a balance transfer please do not go with this bank!!!

Yesterday I attempted to get a line of credit at a major electric store that uses Citibank as its lender. After running my credit, I was denied for a card to make a $2,500 purchase. The CSR at the store was kind enough to call Citibank and after being on hold for 30mins, he was told that I was denied due to a lack of credit history.

Awkwardly, all 3 of my credit ratings are in the 790s. My credit score is a reflection of my responsibility and payment history, but clearly that's not good enough for Citibank. Another thing that interesting is how many credit card offers I get from Citibank because of my scores.

When a 790s credit rating does not allow one to get a $2,500 loan from Citibank, its sad. Needless to say, I am disappointed that this financial institution would not honor the request of a fiscally responsible citizen.

I hope your experience is better.

I opened a six-figure savings account several months ago. Citibank lost my check for deposit.
I stopped payment on check, and Citibank charged me a fee for returned check.
Finally decided to close my account.
Three weeks passed, and still no check from Citibank. Called today, and they lost my request to cancel account, so now starting over!
Customer service is some third-world system and quality of calls just abysmal! Today, there were LOUD chickens in background from agents office!
I'm sorry I didn't read more reviews before getting into the abyss called Citibank. What a misnomer!

Do not under any circumstances do any business with any company that uses CITI BANK as their creditor. I have found this bank to be the most dishonest creditor I have ever had. If you have any merchant accounts that use CITI bank I would get rid of them as soon as possible and save yourself a lot of problems.

The whole Citi bank group is a terribly organized mess. I opened an account in Dec. They hadn't completed it by the end of February so now I've been trying to close my account for Almost a month and they can't even accomplish that. You ask someone to do something and they say they have to email you back in 24-48 hours. I've been promised calls and emails 5 times by 5 different employees and have gotten zero. I did get a letter 3 days later stating they don't have my w9 on file once after one employee said he would email me a W9 form, so that is almost like a follow up. Don't trust your personal information to this horribly operating bank

Borderline fraudulent company using false advertising. Advertised on Costco checkout and then stated I could not use the advertised benefits during an online checkout. Kept referring to the fictitious scenario of me being in a Costco. Refused to close account before it was established or remove inquiries from credit report.

Worst customer service of any credit card. Their customer service bot is horrible, making it very difficult to actually talk to a person. When you do get through to an actual person after many minutes of pushing 1, 2, 0, etc, the people you speak to can provide no help. I am closing all my citi accounts and I have opened a case with the better business bureau.

Their Brandsource credit card is horrible. My husband closed his account because the furniture we bought from Rana Furniture was defective upon delivery. Instead of replacing the damaged furniture, they sent an incompetent representative that basically filled in the scratches with a stain. We made a vow to never buy anything from Rana Furniture again. My husband immediately closed his account. We checked his credit reports and we discovered that they have not been reporting his payment history accurately and they reported that they closed his account. Really? We will never apply for any credit cards from Citi Bank. Horrible customer service all around!

Update: after I posted this review, they started to send me credit card offers. Funny, I already opted out of all pre-screened offers so there is no reason for me to receive any correspondence from them in the first place!

Horrible customer service. Definitely not a card for people who travel. I notified them of my international travel dates, and still my card got blocked for fraud in China on my vacation. This happens almost every time I travel domestically as well. I called to get it back on but they said I had to have a landline in America registered to me to verify I am who I'm saying. Otherwise they would mail verification to my address back in California which doesn't help me in China. I spoke with a manager who was even less helpful and just repeated that I needed a phone in America registered in their proprietary system in order to unblock my card. Seriously, I can't make this stuff up lol. They were extremely unprofessional, unhelpful and I'm now stranded on vacation without a credit card due to these idiots that can't figure out who I am by social security, drivers license, phone that I called from, verification of transactions, even answered my security question, but they still refused to verify without a phone in America registered to me. I gave them 4 US phone numbers to verify at my business, and personal and they said none came back registered because they are cell phones. I asked them to confirm on Google Maps that my business numbers were register and they refused. So if you are someone that travels you should think twice before considering these guys.

If I could give a zero star I would. Do not use this Bank! I opened a savings account two months ago. I submitted all the requested documentation. Transferred a significant amount of money to the account and have not been able to access my money for the past two months. Each time I have called their customer service I confirm they have all the necessary documents and they tell me they will escalate the situation and I will hear back in 48 hours. Never have they contacted me. Every time I contact them I get the same run around and no one can give me access to my money. What a nightmare, and seemingly illegal tie up of my money. VERY VERY dissatisfied beware and do not use them for anything!!!

Stating I didn't pay last month, I have cancelled check front and back, acc # written on the check, it was taken out of my account. Customer service is overseas, they inform me it will take 30 days to investigate! They tell me there is no email I can send them a copy of the cancelled check!
