I went in for over three hours and aced every test they could throw at me, and I can't reach them to follow up.

No wonder every reviewer is so frustrated with this place.

Truly liked the environment and my recruiter Brittney Rerecich. Talk about energy, attentiveness and determination- Inspirational!!!

3.2018 Update: After a year of being in their temp pool, weekly asking for work, they assigned me 2 positions. One manager @ a company lied to my recruiter about something I didn't say, and I never was placed with another company after. Boly Welch insisted that wasn't why... But a year later, & that being my last gig... I'm thinking so. That company had a 1.9 star on glass door, so it made sense there was petty drama.
My recruiter stopped returning my calls and emails for several months. It took 4 weeks of calling to speak with a Boly Welch manager, which I was promised they'd place me soon. I never heard from them again.

Jan.2017: I've been looking for a positive, professional employment agency for a while that would be a good bridge for my current freelance work and career goals. I am technically transitioning from my previous skills in sales, customer service and office admin into a creative industry which my schooling is in.
Boly : Welch surprisingly is a good match for me!
I reached out initially with their online chat which was responsive, sent in my resume and connected with coordinator within a handful of business days. After a delightful interview with Moira and chatting with the receptionists, I felt this company would be a good match. Luckily, a temp opportunity was offered the same day!
After waiting and trying for months with other agencies for work within my skill sets, Boly : Welch exceeded my expectations.
I greatly look forward to working with them further and growing professionally!

What a disappoitment. I called the very next day after leaving my last employer to schedule an appointment to meet with them since they had a recruiter position that was bilingual. I need it we responded to the ad and call to schedule an appointment the lady at the front didn't give her name didn't introduce herself or anything but regardless I still call to schedule an appointment she said that nobody could schedule an appointment at a recruiter would call back I asked her when should I follow up she said 4 days I called back within 4 days she said there was no need for me to call back that a recruiter would call it's been 7 days and I have yet to heard from them I tried calling back and again she said we will call you at this point I just asked for the names of the recruiters so I can follow up with in the future she said that she was unable to provide any names for any recruiters I asked her for her branch managers name and again she said she couldn't disclose that information I asked her for her name and she said she couldn't provide that information that she was instructed to. she then proceeded I'm telling me that if they were interested in me that they would call me that there is no need for me to schedule a time to come in to meet with them.

My recruiter Brice was very attentive and frequently emailed me with jobs and answers to any questions I had. He outlined what to do on my first day so I knew exactly what to do and where to go. I'm thrilled to have worked with Brice and plan to use him in the future.

Sally Williams truly listens to what employees and employers are looking for and matches them perfectly. All too often, staffing agencies try to plug a square peg in a round hole just to fill a position. But not Sally at Boly Welch! She not only matched me up with my needs, she met my wish list too! She has a way of boiling down feedback to the concentrated priorities and pairing professionals for success! Thank you!

There simply are too many good things to say about working with Boly:Welch and in particular Abby P. The office is beautiful and the administrative assistant is highly qualified and professional. Although I did not get his name, I was very pleased to meet him and appreciated the skill with which he was performing each task. It was a great introduction to the company.

Abby was an absolute dream. She offered to help me with advice regarding setting up my resume, networking tips, and hopefully connecting me with a great-fitting position when available. She also listened to some of my thoughts regarding a somewhat challenging job search and helped me to think of new strategies, which I'm looking forward to trying out. Had an amazing experience working with Natalie Hamachek and the Boly Welch staff!! They found me a job that suited my needs and got me to work there right away. I couldn't have asked for a more positive and effective experience than I had with Rosemary. I am also surprised by the negative responses on here. I was put in touch with Boly:Welch with relatively little admin experience, and they were able to help groom me into entry level at not one but two temporary positions at law firms, which were followed by a 3rd temporary assignment that turned permanent. I love the law firm that I'm at now, and I've been here two years, and have had nothing but great experiences with all of the personnel at B:W.

People should understand that NO recruiting agency can be your 'only' lead when you are job searching, and B:W cannot guarantee jobs for all of their candidates. The job market simply doesn't support that. Sometimes, I was weeks or months between assignments, but during that time I was out sending resumes.

Boly Welch is simply the best staffing agency. Heather Gordon specifically is is efficient, communicates clearly and is a pleasure to work with. The Boly Welch team really is the ideal agency, matching industry leaders with the best candidates.

Wow, what an awesome experience I've had with Cory at Boly Welch! Within a couple of weeks of sending in my resume, I was scheduled very quick interviews (1st and 2nd with same company) & offered a great job the day after the 2nd interview. Cory has offered me great advice for resume revisions and interview tips that have helped me stand out in a good way. I feel some of these negative responses/reviews are from people who don't understand there are thousands of applicants trying to get jobs through Boly and these negative people haven't figured out how to be the type of person companies want to hire....it takes more than good test scores, it takes a great, positive attitude as well as many other factors....it's a competitive market out there!

I worked with Gwen Rudolph to help me find a paralegal job in Portland. Within weeks I was interviewing at many interesting places and was quickly given an offer of employment with a starting salary at the top of my asking range. I migrated to Portland from Sydney Australia two years ago. My biggest fear was finding a job that matched what I had in Sydney. After a couple of weeks of being in Portland I decided to join Boly Welch recruitment agency to assist me find a suitable job.

Absolutely terrible! They want to charge for coming to our company for a few hours, for which more than 1/2 was a lunch we paid for, and the rest was them describing services that they really don't perform. The rates are through the roof. And then if you do hire them for consulting... they just want your staff to do all the work, when the whole point is they are already too busy. They have no tactical abilities in HR consulting. I think they are trying to sell themselves as HR consulting, but really are not that type of company. The recruiting aspect was fine... but if you engage the HR consulting, be prepared for getting your arm twisted to accept their insane rates, and be expected to actually be insulted to your face. Have fun with BolyWelch if you can, we sure did not.

I recently sat in on their Boly:Welch 101: Where to Start Your Job Search workshop (video conference) and found it very helpful! The team leading the session were very candid and made it a comfortable environment for asking questions and engaging with the content.

My meeting with the senior recruiter was extremely helpful and what most impressed me was how direct, honest and to the point she was. This makes such a huge difference because it was decided that pursuing a position through Boly:Welch was not in my best interest professionally. Awful AWFUL temp agency, if you can call a place that treats you like crap and never finds you work a "temp agency", cuz I sure don't consider this place to be anything but a HUGE WASTE OF TIME...

If you've been struggling to find a job and the stress is consuming you, this is the place to go. I tried searching for months and within a week I had Roxanne helping me apply for 3 different jobs while also recommending ways to improve my resume. I actually wish I had reached out to Boly Welch sooner than I did. They were really able to hone my application packages and my interview techniques so that when I got a potential placement I was able to really perform and land the job.

My primary point person, Rosemary Schwimmer, director of legal recruiting, was an absolute pleasure to work with. I am starting to suspect, as others have suggested, that B:W collects resumes based on postings for jobs that don't actually exist. I've sent resumes and well written cover letters in response to positions that I am perfectly qualified for and have not even received a request to set up a phone interview. When I apply to other agencies or positions listed on CL I usually at least get a personal reply and sometimes an interview. Does anyone know anyone who has found a position through B:W recently? My guess is that they're failing and grasping at straws to stay afloat. Too bad. But also it is a waste of honest people's time if this is the case. I'm considering contacting the BBB.

I can honestly say...I am super surprised by what some people are writing in their reviews about this organization. I have been both a candidate and a client over the last 7 or so years and can't say enough fantastic things about this company.

That all being said, they are not like other staffing agencies, they aren't just going to take anyone with a pulse and plop you into a position to fill a seat...you better know your stuff and be able to prove it time and time again.

The recruiters are very helpful, honest (sometimes to a fault) and willing to work with truly qualified candidates. I am now using them to find my replacement at my current job and the candidates they have sent over are nothing short of spectacular (which makes my job SUPER hard right now as I try to decide who to pick).

Please be very aware of this company. I worked with Gwyn and she was overtly disappointed when I didn't go with someone she had set me up with and am curious if she had a hand in sabotaging future interviews that I went on that I thought went very well, but subsequent to me rejecting the first company Gwyn had set me up with. Contact completely stopped with Boly:Welch and they no longer helped me further after this incident. I was so incredibly disappointed and will not utilize them again. If I see a job on a website that states I have to go through Boly:Welch, no thank-you. Just my personal opinion on the matter.

Gwen at Boly Welch was recommended to me by two people and I could not have been more happy with her as my recruiter and just wished I had contacted her sooner. I had just moved to Portland so was unfamiliar with the area and what opportunities were out there for my field. I worked with Rosemary Shwimmer after being laid off due to Covid-19 at the end of March. Looking for a job is a terrible experience on so many levels but looking for one in the middle of a pandemic is absolutely dreadful. Heather has worked with me on a few permanent leads that, unfortunately, didn t pan out for me, and she also directed me to other team members in her agency who found me great temporary assignments, while Heather and I keep searching for that perfect, permanent position.

I understand this is a very tough economy, and there are a lot of highly skilled, highly qualified candidates who know all the software I know, and have work experiences similar to mine, too. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend them. They never called me back, never replied my emails, never gave me the respect and talk to me. Every time I call they are rude with me, and tell me "I only have to apply once by sending the resume to the email mentioned". They think they are the only temp agency out there! Thank God I got a perm job by my own.

I had a great experience working with Brittney Rerecich. She was quick to respond to all of my calls, texts, and emails. She was patient with my many questions, and incredibly knowledgeable about Portland law firms and their various workplace cultures. She was frank and honest about each position and what my role would be like at each firm. I was able to be myself with her, and she helped me find a job that exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a position on the support side of legal work!

I had extremely high hopes about this company. I interviewed with Roxanne, one of the recruiters, about a role that they had advertised that I applied for. I met all of the requirements for the job, offered a comparable minimum salary requirement based on my experience and the average pay for that particular role, and conducted myself professionally during the interview. I scored in the top range on all assessments that they had me take, was early to our meeting, and was kind and courteous to all staff members.

As soon as the interview started, I realized that my time was being wasted. Roxanne would ask me a question, and as soon as I started to answer it, she'd interrupt me and start talking about something else. I remained professional and attempted to navigate the conversation as best I could, given the lack of tact on her behalf. Regardless, what happened next was appalling.

The entirety of our conversation lasted no more than 10 minutes. At about the five minute mark, she inadvertently labeled herself as an ageist and stated that I am "asking for too much money for my age", despite the fact that I far exceeded the requirements of the positions that I was applying to. She admitted that my assessment scores were stellar, I acted and dressed professionally, and that I conduct myself well, but then proceeded to state that she can't believe I'm asking for "this much" (i.e. a comparable salary based on the role, requirements, location, and my experience) given how "young" I am (note: I'm in my mid-twenties).

I am extremely disappointed that a business such as this one is enforcing such discriminatory practices. To all other candidates - I hope that you are treated far better than I was, regardless of age, sex, gender, race, or ethnicity. Or, at the very least, I really hope you don't have to work with Roxanne.

Also worth noting: the guy at the front desk was incredibly kind and professional! The business is lucky to have him!

Very happy I connected with Boly:Welch after moving to Portland. Both Kirsten and Hannah have been extremely kind and helpful and I begin my first contract with Nike tomorrow because of them. Highly recommend them for help finding your next role!

After applying to multiple jobs and not getting anywhere the lovely staff at Boly Welch sent me a tart email to discourage I apply again. Let this not be confused with the generic email they send, the one in question was a new variety and not the professional kind.

When I responded to the email the owner reached out and contacted me. At first I thought this was really telling about the quality of customer service and professionalism of the owner. Boy was I wrong!

I had the unpleasant experience of speaking with Pat Welch this afternoon and could not be less impressed. I respect following up on complaints about your business, but calling strangers sweetie and hanging up in folks faces because they are not buying the fluff you are selling is far from professional. I spent more time then I should have having this woman speak over me and not listen to what I was saying. It was as if Ms. Welch is not used to people having common sense, a personal backbone, or the ability to think and speak for themselves. Nothing about my experience with this company was pleasant. No part of me wants to ever interact with such rude and unprofessional people again.

I had the pleasure of working with Sally Williams, and I cannot possibly say enough good things about her, or my experience with Boly:Welch in general. I had never worked with an employment agency before, and had no idea what to expect, but from the second I sat down with Sally, I felt like a weight had been lifted. In contrast to the stiff, impersonal interviews I was used to, my meeting with her felt like I was talking to a good friend--someone who understood what I wanted, and truly cared about helping me. For the first time since I had begun my job search, I felt encouraged and optimistic, knowing I had someone in my corner who was rooting for me, and actively working to help me succeed.
In the end, not only did Sally help me break out of my old industry, but she guided me into an absolute DREAM job--one that I probably would never have found, let alone had the courage to pursue on my own. I have spent the past year or so aggressively job hunting and interviewing without any progress. The experience of doing this time and time again without any results is exhausting. Over the year I have been applying to jobs through Boly:Welch because they were quality positions, but, I was never able to get in for an interview. After many phone calls and emails I did finally get a response from Heather Gordon. After spending some time on the phone, she agreed to have me come in. We had a great conversation. Heather was a good listener, had great advice, and even had some immediate job opportunities to submit my resume to. Within a few hours of leaving the interview, she had me lined up to meet with a potential employer. Then about a week later I was offered a position. I could not have had a more professional experience and I owe it to Heather for being such a great advocate. I never imagined it being a pleasure to go through getting a new position, but this one time I was proven wrong. Roxanne really helped me stand out from the competition which allowed me to secure a great position! Everyone is very helpful, professional and really involved in the process from start to finish.

I went to work for them right after my husband got laid off. They had a job for me the next day. They were great and continued to call me even after he went back to work. I was staying home with my oldest son so I had no desire to work once he was working again. I've considered going back to them once my kids are all older. I had a great professional relationship with them. I was able to work at some very nice places for the month or so I worked with them. This was some time ago, in 2004, however I can't imagine it's gotten as bad as what other people are saying. I currently have no affiliation with Boly Welch and don't work in the recruiting office.

Brittney Rerecich is amazing!
She's super positive and bubbly. She found me jobs I wouldn't have known about, or wouldn't have been able to get an interview for, had she not made sure I got in the door.
Even when a job placement or interview wasn't ideal, she always stayed positive and motivated and made sure I did the same. She was always very responsive to my requests (like wanting a different placement from a nightmare law firm) and definitely listened to my wants and needs (type of law, location, long term career goals).
I am SO grateful to Brittney. After several temp jobs (which built my experience and gave me insight on what I really wanted in a job), I was offered a permanent position with a law firm that I love!

Yet another very lukewarm agency. Natalie Hamacheks, albeit very nice, was never proactive with her communication and required constant communication to be kept on her radar. Any opportunities were pipeline and never came to fruition. If you're looking to babysit adults for your placement needs, this is the agency for you. If you need an agency to actually work for you, take interest in your employment well-being, and pair you with actual placements, look elsewhere.
