the people here are rude it takes forever for them to see you and i have. a special needs son that is 5 and one of the nurses said he is afraid of eveeygthing have fun with that, to the male nurse.. i think every hospital sjould have a special needs room for the kids that cant take the noise other patients make .. it is the worst ... would give no star at all

Arrived with chest pain, I couldn't talk or catch my breath. So what does the guy from triage do? Calls security and tells them I'm being uncooperative! What in the actual!?! Here I am not able to move without pain, can't hardly breathe, clutching my chest and look at the treatment I get as soon as I walk in the door! If I wasn't so focused on my pain I would have remembered the guy in glasses name
Why do they tell you to call for a follow up appointment with a surgeon in 3days and do not send my discharge papers with diagnosis!! Very uncaring in my eyes
I have to say that these reviews Under Banner Good Samaritan 25% correct and 75% false when people say that they had a bad experiences at this ER..I did have a run in with the regerstation person who checked me into be seen..My wait was only 10 times to get back and be seen..I really like the professionalism that the Dr., Nurse and Staff showed me when i was in a great deal of pain...I would recommend that anyone take themselves or loved ones to be seen here in the event of there is an Emergency..
My daughter spent 3 weeks on the hospital with preeclampsia/extremely high blood pressure. Had a crash c-section. The baby was bor 2 months early and went straight to the NICU. My daughter came home 2 days later. The baby will be in the NICU for a couple months. Came home Monday, and was served with a notice from CPS because the social worker at banner filed a neglect report. The people I talked to on the phone at Banner University just acted like it was no big deal and that s just what they do. Also, the doctors that did her surgery never came back to check on her. Very poor follow up. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone for anything.
Knowing of a lady who having complications didn't let her stay for birth of child just kept sending her back and forth for 3 days like that giving birth to a child who suffer from lack of oxygen. And the docodor doctor wasn't there just a intern student.if this was the Phoenix children hospital they should have helped
Banner hospital in Phoenix on Thomas deployed a k9 dog on me and security put there hands me the patient was not on a medical hold and they used restraints on me and tell me the doctor placed a hold me in the records from banner there is no More
Had my baby here on September 9th and the staff here was amazing during labor and delivery, and in the postnatal ward. My daughter has been in the NICU for the last week and a half and the NICU staff has been amazing at caring for her. We'll be out of here by next week but my NICU experience has actually been a good one overall. The nurses and doctors make sure that I'm kept up to date with what they're doing/planning on doing and they make sure I understand everything completely. This is one of the only hospitals I've heard of that let's you room in with your baby in the NICU 24/7 and I'm so grateful to have that opportunity. I've been able to stay every single day and night here with her and bond with her and I'm just so grateful that I was able to have that opportunity. This hospital is just amazing!
Had my first "telehealth" visit with Dr. Steven Chen of the Interventional Radiology Department. Every staff member I had to interact with was courteous, caring and dedicated to the best patient experience they could provide. From Twila the schedule coordinator, Lindsey the Nurse Navigator to Jennifer the PA and Dr. Chen, each had my best interest in mind while gathering information, reviewing past medical history and providing the intended treatment path and answering ALL of my questions without hesitation. I don't doubt why they are one of the top rated providers in the country. I feel I will receive the best care available because of the competence and skills this team possesses.
Great staff. Trained to be pleasant and helpful. Busy doctors. Reasonable food. The team in ICU was particularly great. Your in good hands at Banner. Only four stars because there were two staff members that should have take the day off.
Stayed there twice due to surgery. The nurses and assistant nurses are so bad. They hardly come around toc check on you. And when you ring for assistance, they take forever to come and isn't helpful at all. Unfortunitely, i have no choice to go this this hospital because my doctor does surgery at this hopsital.
I was sent there from Gila River to get a CAT scan. They never did any tests. After over eight hours they sent me home. My primary doctor couldn't believe they released me. She sent me back to a different ER after she found a kidney stone. Because I said I was in pain they treated me like a drug addict and dismissed doing any tests that would have shown that I had a kidney stone. I will be contacting an attorney.
AWFUL TREATMENT. I came in for an extremely painful tooth infection, the side of my mouth was expanded to the size of a golf ball. Because of a simple misunderstanding with their prior records I was treated with utter disgust, rudeness, and indifference. I tried to clear it up with the physicians assistant and was utterly ignored. I asked if I could get someone on the phone to verify without a doubt that a mistake was made and was simply told no. The PA seeing me then decided to throw up her hands and refused to do anything further. I asked for her or her supervisor to come back to explain the situation, try to work it out and I was told that they wouldn't do anything, wouldn't confirm anything (even through their OWN CHANNELS). Eventually I spoke with a supervisor who actually listened, and did nothing. Oh, and the kicker here- they NEVER ACTUALLY TREATED ME. You know, that thing you do with an infected tooth, starts with an a and rhymes with rantibiotics. They shoved a single script in my face for an over the counter pain reliever I had already previously told them I was taking, then I was invited to leave. I could even hear them in the next room considering calling security - for what exactly? I never raised my voice, I wasn't being belligerent, I wasn't being argumentative, I didn't threaten anyone in any way, and I was listening and responding to everything they said - all I did was make requests and attempted to explain the situation. I never even got off the bed until my paperwork was signed.
So, if you're in so much pain that you're literally crying, and you need actual treatment I would suggest literally any other hospital - or perhaps a prison dispensary if you're looking for a place with a little more bedside manner.
I understand if there are rules and guidelines they have to follow, but that doesn't preclude them from simply trying to verify my statements, and if they can't even bring themselves to do something I would classify as reasonable and humane then I would at least ask that they not assume the worst and treat me like a crazed leper in the 17th century. It wasn't necessary, and it wasn't right. Please stop assuming that every single person who walks through your doors is a violent junkie con artist. Some of us just need help believe it or not.
I've had my share of hospital stays. From the moment I was admitted I was treated like a human being, and was taken care of very well. Fast, efficient, well educated staff.
This is ridiculous to be at this hospital. My aunt has been in the hospital, No doctor or nurse have gave us any information for the past 4 hour's. The staff here are very rude and very unfriendly. This is one of the worst hospital we have experienced.
The three stars represent the wonderful hob the hospital did at getting people from other states from what I was told to save my life. I survived a major accident a truck i was driving flipped 4 times and i was ejected from the vehicle and I received a posterior fusion of c1 c2 and c3 a right orbital fracture and right nasal fracture and termatic brain injury and I got off life support and started walking. Thank God thank you for saving my life. I never got a neck brace that fit. Though Took it off a few months into it everything was ok but I'll forever be scared the doctor who they had me see for the return visit from the hospital for my posterior fusion of c1 c2 and c3 that doctor hurt me in the room that day. I was waiting in the room by myself on the place to sit by myself on one with me the doctor burst threw the door he had no assistant with him he rudely shut the door from behind him slamming it shut loudly made me jump and goes straight to the back of my neck and says nothing and yanks from the bottom to the top of my head the tape from the fusion area so ruff and hard yanking up so fast rudely commenting the only words its gonna get infected over and over. My neck is not good its swollen and I can't breath at times now. It feels like its gonna fall off I need a specialist badly it's the most awful thing to deal with I never went back to that doctor I was so afraid of seeing him again he hurt me with the tape and his words I will go there but that doctor should be fired hes extremely mean. It took me till now to speak up about him. I trust the hospital but not that doctor. Thank you for everything you have done have a good day
The staff on floor 6 pod c were great with my mom took very good care of her thank you but after she was discharged she ended back in the er due to high blood pressure and having a hard time breathing. Anyways the er staff is lazy!!!!! My mom had to be helped out of the car and we told all them helping that she pooped well after we got back to er to see her they still did not clean her she sat in it for over a hour. She has brain cancer so her memory is not good so she forgot she pooped.. Er staff is LAZY
Bariatric center Out of Banner University was not a good experience at all! Staff does not return calls for a week or 2 and the PA they have you see states they can t do anything for you and yet that s who you see after surgery!! Dr Blackstone s first priority is her speaking engagements and NOT her patients! Good luck with follow up care!
information will be given to me cause it's by phone and I cant prove she's my daughter . And I can't visit in person due to covid19. If it was their sibling dying they probably wouldn't care either. But they are good in taking your money .
This review is for the billing office and whoever decides when to send you to collections. July 13th my husband was admitted and had a stent put in his heart the following day. July 15th he was discharged. We requested a statement for our HSA. So really we didn't receive a bill. July 29th we get a bill from a collection agency. They had already sent our $91,000 bill to collections. They haven't even billed the insurance for their portion and then bill us for the remainder. It was an outrageous bill to begin for just 1 stent and less than a 48 hour stay. That shows you what their number one concern is. We don't feel they care for you as a patient but as a means to make money. Will not go there again and suggest you go somewhere else also.
Absolutely appalling. I am from Minnesota and work in a hospital. I was in Phoenix when a situation concerning a family member arose and we needed to get some medical attention to at least see what was going on and go from there. I am not familiar with the area at all and did not have time to read reviews. Let me just say, I was shocked with the ER. We waited for 4 hours and were never seen. I believe the staff took my description of why we were there and deemed it a matter that they didn't have time for or care. During all of this, there are people hacking and coughing everywhere, no designation for possible COVID patients to be seated, a person laying in he corner. Others waited also and were getting fed up. The cleaning staff was trying to clean the floors with a machine that was making a very irritating beeping. The staff working the desk asked him to turn it off and they got into a shouting match/altercation. How unprofessional can it get? Well...worse I imagine. after 3.5 hours and seeing sprained ankles (if you can walk in on your ankle with just a slight limp, you don't need ER, go to urgent care in the morning) go in along with many people who arrived after us, I asked if they had any idea where we were in the queue. I was told it would be a while yet. I asked for a ball park time frame and was told "couldn't even guess" During this wait, my family member was becoming more agitated and her mentally altered state even worse. Eventually, she left without being seen and I am very concerned as to what is going on with her. Her vitals upon arrival were in the toilet, so much so they got another cuff to check her BP again. I guess it didn't matter to them. It was an awful experience and I would never recommend this ER to anyone. When I informed them that she had left and asked what can I do to get her seen, they told be to come back in the morning when it wasn't so busy. Yeah right...and it was steady, not what I would call busy. It is an ER for cripes sake. And don't bother sending me an automated message that you are sorry to hear about this and please email details to you. Obviously, there is a problem at this place that requires some actual intervention and change. Absolutely horrible place!
The staff, nurses and people in maternity were all awesome, they took such good care of us, my wife and newborn baby. Can't say enough about how great they all are. The construction was a little annoying and the kitchen messed up my wife's food order almost every time, but it's not a restaurant. Important part was mama and baby are healthy and happy.
Zero stars and I'm removing my 2 previews reviews. I had a SCHEDULED endoscopy done at this hospital because I was forced to by my garbage obamacare plan. The problem is I trusted they would assign me an anesthesiologist that was in-network with my plan. IT WAS THEIR JOB TO VERIFY THIS PRIOR TO MY PROCEDURE. THEY SURE AS HELL TOOK MY 2,300 PYMT BY VERIFYING MY BENEFITS, BUT THEY COULDN'T DO THE REST? Now the anesthesiologist is billing me 2,000 because their billing dept did not do their job. This is why this place gets zero stars from me, I called and got this rude idiot on the line taking no responsibility for anything AND they NEVER called me back regarding my problem. It's been like 2 wks. I'm going to sue the hell out of this hospital for more than 2000 unless they fix their screw up. UPDATE: I WROTE THE EMAIL THIS PERSON BELOW TOLD ME TO WRITE TO AND I GOT NO RESPONSE AT ALL.
Horrible experience. I only chose a star because you have to to write a post. I was 19 weeks 5 days pregnant when I found out that my baby no longer had a heartbeat. I chose to deliver my baby at this hospital. Before the baby was delivered I had at least 4 different nurses come in and 3 doctors. I spoke to each one and was very clear what I wanted done. They offered 2 types of genetic testing to test the baby to see if anything came back abnormal. I did tell the staff I wanted both tests done. One was by blood they took my blood and swabbed my husbands cheek for testing. The other testing was on tissues from baby once he was born. I went to a check up 2 weeks after delivery to find out there were no results. They drew the blood too late so couldn't send for testing and the cheek swab couldn't be ran alone. No answers there! I asked what about the other testing the other testing wasn't done. Why wasn't it done everyone that I had contact with I let them know I wanted the testing done. I"m not sure was the answer I got. I even called spoke to head nurse she was gonna investigate call me back still nothing and this happened beginning of May. I called again other day to speak to main manager of labor and delivery and still no answers. All I have got is a run around as far as why the nurses and doctors didn't do their jobs. I was hoping for test results to at least maybe help put my mind at ease but now there is nothing. Nothing to go off of! No results! Horrible horrible way to take care of a patient in already such a tough situation. Never would I ever again even consider Good Sam. Thanks for nothing!
My daughter was taken to Good Sam because she is a dialysis patient and Banner has only a couple of places that provide it. She was incoherent and had high blood sugars. She was placed in Observation in a room that smelled like urine. After mentioning this to several people finally one nurse smelled it and had the bed removed and tossed. My daughter got a clean bed. This is unreal that a hospital would allow this. Some doctors and nurses are really nice but this hospital is highly over rated. My daughter never wants to be treated at this hospital again!
This is the worst hospital. Lunch comes late every single day. Instead of eating lunch at noon. Lunch doesn't arrive until 2pm or later. Seriously I was admitted to the Trauma unit and on heavy medications and I didn't get my lunch until after 2. Don't come here hungry for lunch you will starve before you get to eat it
I have sickle cell anemia and the last time I was there I was there for 4 hours and I only got treated with a half bag of fluids and one pain shot and I kept pushing the button for help and the never came to help me until 20mins later and when my fluids was done they didn't change the bag and my blood was coming out of the iv, me and my wife made a promise to never go back, and trust and believe me don't go there
Our first time coming here was decent but after a surgery here .My girl friend developed a small cough and a hard time breathing after giving birth . Instead of treating her for her pain and breathing they are taking test for covid . Which takes atleast two days to get back . So that's two days she not getting taken care of and just waiting in pain
They lost a 260 lb gun shot victim refused to look up anything but his name and everyone here did nothing to help we had medical numbers and everything from the detective working the case and they said he wasnt in there hospital for over 2 hrs security gaurd got an attitude and then calls us and said they knew he was here the entire time some bs drove 2000 miles for someone to lie to our faces
Your security are racist and like to abuse their power! I got arrested and thrown in jail because I didn't want to show my I'd to the security after he knew where I was going and who I was to the patient! Even after I got the nurse on the phone to confirm I had a reason to be there he still got me arrested for "trasspassing" because he didn't like my "attitude"!! Worst experience ever!!
If your 8month pregnant wife ever gets in a car accident make sure you tell the ambulance to NOT take them to Banner university hospital!!
The triage through ER this past thursday was very smooth. The assessment of Cellulitits was accurate, and the followup treatment, and my room were excellent. Thank the entire Nursing and Dr. Davaraj for being on the money! Paul Anderson rm812 signed out today. 12/15/12
the worst part was med transportation leaving which never showed after 21/2 hrs. That's not on Good Sam.
Appalling "care" from beginning to end in the ER. Contacted medical and nursing management who basically said nothing would be done about it. I would never use this facility again with so many other options nearby. Patients should be treated with a modicum of respect in their time of distress, Banner doesn't seem to agree or understand this.
Banner BUMCP Sleep Center: Zzzzzzzzz it escapes me!
Sleep is so crucial to your mental & physical well-being!! And finding out what is causing or how bad it may or not be can be generally confirmed within a sleep study center.
Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix Sleep Center was opened earlier this year and the rooms are very inviting & homey/hotel like. From the initial appointment setting to the admittance call to the actual night of study: staff was very professional, clearly explaining & informative on what will transpire, and nice. They emailed me, as an accepted form of communication by me, the information packet which includes instructions and preparations for my sleep test prior to the appointment. If I had any further questions; I had a number to call & they answered it.
They had private shower/restroom within your private room. Very clean. As in any sleep study; being hooked up can be quite uncomfortable but the staff made it as less disruptive as possible.
After reviewing my results; within time frame they gave me, they immediately sent my notes to my doctor. Now back to some zzzzzzzzzzz.
Not happy with the ER.how long do you have to wait for one of the stuff comes and check on your my light had been blinking for over 25 minutes. I had to take of the blood pressure cuff and another one so I can use the restroom.we should not be doing thiere jobs.
My daughter had out patient surgery Sept 29 2020. Since no one is allowed in the hospital during covid 19 times, and after no phone update when they told us to expect it, I called and was connected to the nurse's station in the recovery area. Ramona answered and told us her surgery had JUST started which would have been 2 hours after my daughter told us they were taking her back. I explained that her surgery was scheduled 2 hours earlier and that my daughter told us when they took her back. I asked Ramona to double check and she told me there was nothing else she could do, then rudely hung up on me as I was expressing my concern that she may have the wrong patient or wrong info. I will be calling Ramona's dept head. Ramona needs more training or a different career. We LOVED our surgeon. He'll get a 5 star review. He called me 30 mins later to update us that she was out of a 3 hour surgery. Ramona could have found this info if she cared to. We had been waiting for 4 hours (told us we'd hear in 3 hours), but Ramona had no empathy.
Staff on 7th floor tower 2 is sad at best behind on pain meds ask for assistance someone shows up that can't do whatever go to get someone who can and no one ever shows up have to call again.
At 5:30 this morning (7/23) I took my fiance to ER for a bad nosebleed and spitting up blood. They admitted him, and put us in a room. Once we got in the room, the hooked him up to monitors and put an IV in his arm. While we sat and waited for the doctor to see him, he was bleeding profusely so I went to the station where all the nurses were for that wing. I walked up to one nurse and she directed me to two nurses right next to her. I'm sure they heard her when she directed me to them, but they literally carried on a personal conversation that had nothing to do with work and didn't even acknowledge me. As I waited there patiently, the first nurse told me to go to the other two that were there, so I did, and I politely excused myself, and asked if someone would be able to assist my fiance because he was bleeding everywhere, and they didn't even look at me and just shook their heads "yes". Then once the nurse came in to assist him, she acted like it was a bother and was pretty rude. Finally Dr. Bohw came in, and he was really nice and took care of my fiance. They had to stick a bandage up his nose which left a tube hanging out of his nose. The doctor said they would tape it up so we were like okay. Then when it was time to release my fiance, the same nurse came in to take the IV out of his arm, did a horrible job at bandaging it up because it bled all the way home. I ended up rebandaging it at home the correct way (and I'm not even a nurse). Anyhow, we also asked her if she could tape the tube that was hanging out of his nose and she literally handed him the tape and was like, you can just tape it up, but he asked her nicely if she could do it, and again acted like it was a bother to do it, but did it anyway (because it's her job). Finally, we were out of ER by 8:30 thank goodness. So overall, I give Banner Good Sam on McDowell & 12th Street (ER) a bad review because the nurses there are very rude and will treat you like you're a bother, which they shouldn't because it is their job to "take care of people". We'll never go back there again.
The billing department for Banner university or just all Banners send false billing information. I was initially mailed out an invoice total I owed.I also called banner on several occasions to find bbn out if that amount was the total. I then asked a current statement to be mailed to me with balance total of 1067 when it came time for me to pay the hospital charged me 1600 more. Somehow I was told I had to pay 1600 more due to their incopent billing department. I
5 plus hours waiting on the emergency room. And being told I m pushed because of other patients. I was told I d have to go straight to a room at 4pm but at 7pm there still isn t anything available
Wow, Dr. Nakaji operated on my 2nd aneurysm. He was actually my 2nd opinion doc, but not any more. Him n his crew did such a wonderful job on me. After, ever single nurse from ICU to a suite, haha we're fantastic with me. I didn't want to go home but my puppy needed me more. Then when I went to get my staples removed. My medical transportation was running late. I called, let them know n they still took me. I expected the worst when I got there, but no, everyone there treated me like I was on time. I am so glad that the whole team has turned over a new leaf. I didn't like the way I was treated before at banner thanks for everything!
One of the best hospitals in Phoenix. Caring staff, doctors, case managers, and nurses. New towers is fantastic. Clean and modern and big. Great job Banner! Keep on being rock star and taking wonderful care of your patients.
This is the worst hospital ever. My husband side was hurting. Because he could not stand, they called security on him and told him to leave. Turns out that his appendix was going to burst. No thanks to those incompetent health care workers.
My mom suffered the worse headache of her life and soon began to scream and vomit. We called 911 and described my mothers symptoms. When the EMT's arrived at out house they didnt find anything wrong with her vitals but my mother was still in terrible head pain. We had received bad news about one of my aunts being diagnosed with cancer the previous week and for a second, decided that it was information the emt's needed. They took my mother to the nearest hospital which was abrazo hospital. They didnt bother checking my mother and decided to diagnose her with anxiety attack. Discharged her and perscribed some pain medicine. The following morning my step dad woke up to the screams of my mother's pain and decided to act quickly. He rushed her to banner thunderbird hospital where they acted fast and professional. They asked if the previous hospital had performed a CT scan and were shocked to hear they had "not". They took my mother and performed a CT scan. They confirmed their suspicion and it turned out my mother had an anyurism which should have taken her life but by some miracle didnt fully rupture giving everyone a second chance. Thunderbird banner did not have a neurologist on campus but got a hold of university of phoenix banner formely known as "Good Sam" and arraged transportation as soon as my mother was stable enough to transport. Finally my mother received the proper care she needed. The following day, the surgery was next and we were all in absolute pain not knowing if my mother would survive the procedure. She finally went in and it felt like the 2 hours she was in surgery were an eternity but when Dr Sunenshine came with the good news that the surgery had gone without a hitch, i knew that my mother indeed had the best medical care. I cannot express my gratitude to all the medical staff involved in giving us a second chance with our mother whom we love so dearly. Thank you Banner University hospital for you excelence in medical care.
These ppl here are for a check not o take care of the ppl that are sick . And they will not tell u what there are going to to to u but want to tell u no to everything some of that he cradio are great but I feel hey should list this hospital burn hell the county do better than this.
For starters this is not Leonela Rivera. I am Norma Moler and I am posting because of the treatment that was given to my sister Lucia. Now on 10/16/15 I took her to the emergency for pain and what looked like an infection on her breast that was being prepared for reconstruction surgery. Now her discharge papers from the hospital said that if there was any swelling fever redness or cloudy discharge to go to the nearest emergency.Which is what we did. Now the emergency doctor took a look at her and had her admitted. Now she did not get pain meds right away and she was not feed until late Saturday afternoon just in case they needed to operate. Well lets make this short no operation because her doctor did not have surgical privileges at this hospital. Well they suggested transporting her to another hospital but this could not be done because transport does not work on weekends. Nice ha. Well they discharged her on 10/19/15 and by the way no pain meds were prescribed because they said her doctor had to prescribe them to her. Well she went to her doctor when she was released and he will be doing the surgery on her 10/20/15 but he said he could not issue her pain meds today, she should have gotten one from the doctor at Good Sam. Well then they took her pills when they admitted her and never gave them back either. I never thought i could think so low of my favorite hospital, but i am putting all the blame on the stupid ass doctors because we told them that she had the surgery at another hospital, and the first thing they should of done is gotten her comfortable and sent her to that hospital and I would not be so disappointed in Good Samaritan but lets see how they do for future patients
If you value your reproductive organs run don't walk away from Dr. steven chen in radiology at banner he will destroy your life i wouldn't lie. I'm very sorry no one told me about this monster of a doctor. He puts shame to the title Dr. He is a monster .
We brought my elderly father here back in April and without going into detail had a HORRIBLE experience in the observation rooms where he was kept for 4 days. We swore we would never go back. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, we had another medical emergency with my father and had no choice but to take him back (it's the closest hospital to him). We were extremely hesitant. But this time it was different. This is in large part due to one of your nurses in observation, Michael. I know how difficult an 86 year old man who doesn't want to be in the hospital can be, yet Michael handled my father so perfectly. He took the time to explain things to us, and my father took to him immediately. When he was finally discharged, Michael took the time to make sure we understood everything and handled all with grace and a smile. While the first time we were there, he was discharged with absolutely NO help from the nursing staff to get him into a wheelchair (which they were hesitant to give us) and help us get him out of bed and wheel him outside, Michael made SURE we had assistance and even had someone wheel him to the pharmacy before we left. I cannot express enough what an asset this man is to your hospital. Thank you, Michael, for reinstating our confidence in the healthcare system.
I just checked myself out of this place after getting subpar care from the MDs. My nurses were both great but were clearly overworked. I was sent to this hospital by ambulance because the urgent care MD found an abscess on my tonsil and he wanted it removed. The hospital never uploaded the scans done at the urgent care center and the MDs never even opened the paperwork that was sent over - I had to tell him where it was. He went to look at the scans after telling the first MD to hold off on draining the abscess. That was at 11:30am. By 5:00pm no one else had been back in and my IV was no longer hooked up to any medicine. The nurse had no idea what was going on because no one would tell her anything. Horrible experience and I m still in an inexplicable amount of pain but I can sit in bed alone and watch Harry Potter at home. Will literally avoid this hospital at all cost going forward.
Have sat in ER 50 minutes. Daughter has puked the whole time. Worst care anywhere. Ten minutes later still in ER. If you are very sick stay clear of here. It is a mess. Filled up second puke bag. Still in ER. Hour and ten minutes and still in ER waiting room. 10 minutes later and still have not seen a Dr.
Scheduling surgery has been a joke; the scheduler has been away for atleast a week and my family doctor had to pressure them and actually scheduled surgery for us. Note:my family doc doesn't even work at this complex. Surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday; we got a phone call yesterday telling us that the entirety of our bill will be due TODAY. Seriously?!? Less than 24 hr notice, otherwise they will cancel surgery. We have a great insurance policy, and have to pay UP FRONT for a necessary procedure, and of course there are no payment options. Absolutely ludicrous. After this experience we will not use Banner again, and will be voicing our concerns to our insurance provider.
If I could rate this hospital 0 star I would. Let me explain what happened here. After coming in through the ER and waiting for a long time we were finally seen, the ER doctor was nice yes, we ordered X-rays and that an orthopedic surgeon should look at the X-rays he also ordered a Neurologist doctor to see me and go over the results from the previous hospital. I was admitted as an Outpatient, in more than 24 hours no Neurologist or orthopedic came to see me. The doctor in the Outpatient ward an Indian doctor or such was the rudest ever. As I was admitted he first refused to give me my pain meds that I get prescribed by my Pain management doctor because this doctor believed I am not in pain. I was without any pain medicine for over 10 hours, I was in extreme pain and going into withdrawal. He also refused to let an orthopedic surgeon look at my X-rays because he believed nothing is wrong there. He also admitted that the Neurologist can evaluate the X-rays the same way an orthopedic can. (Which isn t true). I am born with hip dysplasia and have had 2 hip operations already. He refused to let me talk to any of those doctors based on I saw her walk on crutches her service dog . She is in no pain. He also admitted that I am being discharged because I am in no need of a doctor or anything urged because nothing is urgent unless I am dying. The head nurse at time of discharge told us that the Neurologist now refuses to see me, why? Because the test results from another hospital is all he needed to see to be able to determine that I am not sick. This is with having the CK value being extremely higher than normal - which means that you either have or have had muscle damage which would explain why I cant walk for more than 10min - but apparently I am healthy and nothing is wrong with me. I was discharged without being seen by a Doctor, except for the Indian doctor who believes he can refuse me pain meds, who believes nothing is wrong with me as he is an expert on everything . When I asked to speak to a doctor such as a Neurologist as well as Orthopedic I was told to leave and they had security come and force me to leave. (Keep in mind that I am a female who weights 120lbs, soaking wet). The question is why would you call security when the only thing I asked for is to talk to a doctor of knowledge. Feel free to contact us via phone. It s on file
I have had multiple trips to this hospital. I have never had a bad experience. Every time we have had to use them the staff has been very helpful and friendly. We have also had the most outstanding care. I would highly recommend going to this hospital for any care that you may need.
Great attentive nurses, informative and passionate doctors, latest tools and equipment, better choices and better tasting meals, when compared to VA Hospitals and St. Joseph's ... over all BUMC staff and atmosphere is the best, only loosing to Banner Estrella in furniture.
I come every week to the wound clinic & im on crutches all the time and when you have employees that park in th e covered close handicap parking spaces the it makes it really tough when I have to park father out in the wound care parking lot. I think this is very disrespectful of the employees and the hospital ..
Apparently abnormal pregnancy pain and bleeding is not an immediate priority for this hospital's emergency room even with a transfer. Vaginal bleeding? concerns of miscarriage? okay please wait an hour inbetween every single time we acknowledge you. SUPER SLOW with bloodwork, paperwork and proper care. Was stuck multiple times when drawing blood. The building was absolutely freezing.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CARE! ( with the exception of MOST of the nursing staff). My boyfriend was transferred and admitted here Tues because of "chest pain" (nerve pain) they have done all kinds of testing for tb etc since which have all been ruled out yet they still have him quarantined. We've been told for the past 2 days he is being discharged yet here we still sit in this hell hole they call a hospital because the Drs don't want to do their jobs. He waited over 2 hours for pain meds that never came, the food they bring looks like it's been sitting out for hours, the Drs don't follow thru on anything they say. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They will be in for a rude awakening in about an hour when out lawyer gets here yo see the poor care this "hospital" provides
This hospital could be a 5. If i was to judge it solely on the medical aspect, the rooms, the medical staff, and thoroughness of check in i would give them a 10!!!!! I am here now and the first evening my awesome nurse called in my dinner for that night, breakfast and lunch for the next day. The next day 9am hit and no breakfast came i called and the staff said she was glad i called it was just sitting. She checked my other orders but they were not in the system so i gave her my lunch and dinner again. That whole day nothing came. I think i would die of starvation before anything else, why should i have to follow up on service when i am being charged. The friendship garden could be an awesome place for patients to share in healing by visiting, lounging, reading, getting some sun,and or exercising. I did little laps, wish i had a lap track . The little garden needs some basic TLC maintenence then it would be perfect. The hospital is gorgeous in itself but i wonder on a second look if cleaning staff is cut short during day hours or if they are hiding out. The beautiful design work and plants have trash in and on them it ruins the esthetics. When my kids came they were picking up the trash and properly disposing of it in nearby trash bins. I worked in a fortune 500, 100 company for 25 years so im not complaining just being honest so hopefully this awesome facility can be its best and hopefully bring great pride amongst its Banner team.
Do not bring your infants here, they will kill them.
I brought my 7 month old son into the Banner University ER, he was unresponsive, vomiting profusely, pale in color, and screaming in pain every 20 minutes. When my son would vomit he would stop breathing - when this happened I looked at my husband and said, "what do I do?" And the triage nurse responded, "what do you mean 'what do you do?' Youre the mom. You're supposed to know" as I was holding my sons limp body, gasping for air.
The medical staff did not exam my son at all. They were presented with a shreiking, limp, heaving, and colorless baby and concluded without any exam or bloodwork that it was a stomach bug and to give him pedialyte. Without checking his glucose they brought in an inept IV proctor to give him fluids. I declined and asked to be discharged so we could go to Phoenix Childrens Hospital they responded that it would be pointless as we would just sit and wait as we had been there.
After 4 hours of no examinations, no bloodwork, and no improvement they reluctantly transferred us to Phoenix childrens where he was immediately diagnosed with intussusception - a life ending illness if not properly addressed within 48 hours. After a simple Google search of my sons symptoms they were textbook - and the doctors, nurses and staff of Banner University Medical Center are incompetent.
They advised us to force feed him fluids and wait it out. Had we followed their instructions, my son would be dead.
My mother was airlifted to this hospital from New Mexico. We were told how fantastic this hospital was and that she would be in great hands! The first few days she was here on the 11th floor of the new wing she did receive awesome care. However, when she was downgraded to a lower level of care to the 5th floor of the old hospital boy was it a culture shock! It was like someone flipped a switch and the level of care went to hell. They tanked her blood sugars two nights in a row to the point she was having pins and needles throughout her body. Then they loaded her up with orange juice and apple juice to bring her sugars up which overloaded her body with fluids. So, then they had to start IV lasix to take the fluid off her body which then shut her kidneys down! This training hospital is a joke! Take your loved ones somewhere else if they are really sick. Don't let those learning to be doctors, nurses, etc use your loved ones as Guinea pigs. So, then they upgraded my mom back to the 12th floor because of their mistakes and the fact that she needed more one on one care. Care on the 12th floor of the new wing was good. Then they downgraded her again this time to the 6th floor of the old hospital. Where again you get all those that practicing! There were three really amazing nurses on that floor that went above and beyond for my mom....Ashley M from the night shift, Ashley N from the day shift, and Alettia from the night shift. These nurses are in this job for the right reasons....caring and compassionate! There was one nurse in particular that should have her nursing license taken away....her name was Alena from the night shift and on the 6th floor. We had discussed mom's insulin one night because she was going to give her too much and then I declined mom Trazodone because I really believe it causes her more agitation and aggressive behavior. The next night we had the same nurse again she was going to give mom to much insulin and tonight I discussed with her the Trazodone. I went ahead and agreed to let her give it to mom. Sure enough 45 minutes to an hour mom was say mean, hurtful, ugly things. I had had enough and need a little bit of time. When I came back 15 to 20 minutes later mom was worse! Elena had decided to give my mom Haldol which was supposed to be stopped a couple of days before. Because it makes mom a raging mountain lion with littler of kittens....so for the next 20 hours which is what mom was awake being hateful, mean, and yelling. We had to put up with, other patients had to put up with, but more importantly than all of that my poor mom didn't understand what was going on. The doctors and nurses on the 6th floor don't know what one hand is doing after the other. Now let's talk about case management these people are about the heartless as you can get! They truly have NO people skills and they lie like you can't believe. They bring 5 or 6 people into the room so that they can intimidate you and make you feel like you have no other choices but what they offer....news flash karma has a way of biting hard. If you or your family member needs a hospital because you are seriously do yourself a favor and forgo the heartache and headache of coming to Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. Stay healthy and God Bless!
Horrible service went after my car accident the nurses was rude and the doctor was rude also I had cuts and glass from the wreck and bleeding none of my wounds from the accident was treated left how I came i pressed the call but for a nurse the light stayed on 40 mins before a nurse came to me I could see the nurse outside my door at the nurse station laughing and eating
I need to file a complaint against one of the supervisors in charge of security. He stated that his name was Chris. He wouldn't not give any further identifying information. Such as ID or badge number or his supervisor name.
Incident took place at 12th Street and Mcdowell Hospital.
Security guard was covering down for a the recipient lady who asked for a 10min break. He arrived already mad towards her and telling her she needed to hurry up because they where short staffed.
Shortly after when the receptionist left on her break.
One of our family member was waiting outside the entrance like we were asked. Our aunt needed to use the restroom and proceed into the east lobby. She approaches the door and the security guard, went to the door and with a disrespectful tone asked "what do you want!?" She explained she need to use the restroom and he denied her a basic human need. She was already inside the hospital priviously and we explained that to him that she was already inside with us and only went outside to brief our family. He want on a rant about policy.
We were there grieving the loss of our family member.
We understand the situation and policy of covid but his demeanor and attitude towards us was unprofessional. All we asked for was a bit of compassion and understanding. But his disrespect towards us was unjust.
I had moved to Phoenix about 2 months into my pregnancy and had to pick a hospital to deliver at. I chose Banner Good Sam and I completely regret it. Do not get me wrong the nursing staff were great! Kourtney, Alicia, Megan, Katie to name a few, but during the delivery the way the situation was handled was so stressful to the point where I never want to have another baby again. When I got to 10 cm and ready to push about 15 people (nurses, doctors, students) came rushing in the room all crowding around me. I wasn t even able to have my mom next to me, which was very important. They told me the baby s heart rate was dropping and needed to get her out, might have to do a C-section. Which I was already at 10cm I don t know why they wanted to cut into me. It was just a mess. Nobody ever asked me for permission to have students watch my delivery. It was just horrible. I know they were students because they were just in the room observing. Maybe processes can be changed so another delivering mother doesn t have to experience that.
Some Nurses were rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, and means. When I was in the floor, they did threaten, intimated, harassed , and undermined me. one of the floor does not practice the social distance and follow the CDC guidelines. They did not care about patients well being. They are treating them as a number not as a human being.this from my experienced in one floor where I felt uncomfortable due to their mistreated me. Patient Deserve to be treated with dignity and respect not intimated and trashed. 9 floor nurses are kind and very professional they deserve 5 stars.
Staff was friendly signing in, but Kevin the Physician Assistant was very condescending and useless. He basically told me listen to my doctor there s nothing we can do here. I wouldn t have come here if I didn t think my condition was serious and needed immediate testing. No diagnostic questioning was done apparently this emrgkency room can t help according to the PA.
For starts the ER staff s customer services skills definitely need improvement, they are absolutely rude and have no compassion for what people go through; COMPASSION not SYMPATHY. This isn t the first time I ve been forced to wait in the waiting room for hours and I will say I m not pleased with the service they provide at the ER to be specific. Considering the fact that this was just remodeled you would think that they would have more rooms for patient, unfortunately they still don t have the capacity for multiple patients. I m completely understanding to the fact that there is a wait because there are other cases more severe than others but like I stated above this hospital lacks compassion and it s sad. Also considering there s a recent case where a woman was FORCED to sit in the waiting room for hours because they felt like her symptoms were not as severe as others and she died you would think they would try doing a better job to assure their patients safety and to make sure everyone s cases are handled properly and efficiently. The only reason it s one star is because I couldn t give no star, or half a star.
I went to the emergency room here and had an excellent experience from entry to leaving. The nurse and doctor were awesome. Thank you for all that you all are doing there. Keep up the good work.
I think this is one of the best hospitals. I have been admitted to 12 hospitals around the country. The Doctors are nice and informative and the nurses are friendly and helpful. I was om 3 different floors and it was the same everywhere. I had 2 surgeries. O.R. staff was very professiomal. Thank you nurses you rock. 7th,10, and 14th floors. I will be glad to get home but I will miss your care.
Was in the ER at another hospital and transfered to Banner Univ for surgery to drain an infected cyst on my face. The surgeon and his attendant were excellent and put up with my crying and screams when the pain was unberable. The ER nurses were nice but I think glad to see me go. I have issue with the discharge nurse and the social worker. They were rude and truely in a hurry to get me out of there. We couldn't get ahold of anyone to come get me and take me home as it was around midnight when discharged and the SW was insisting on calling a cab to take me home. They were both so anxious to get rid of me it caused unneeded stress and hardship on top of the pain and trauma of surgery. It was a horrible feeling getting kicked out of a hospital that was supposed to be passionate and helpful. CRMC
I found the Cardiology department staff to be A+ in all aspects - even when busy. Made me feel comfortable through each procedure, were proficient and knowledgeable. Would recommend them all highly. I did experience great service in radiology and transplant departments also. The whole experience at Banner Hospital (Good Sam)showed me how a well run hospital should be. I am grateful I m in a large city with an upto date , professional hospital.
They took care of my grandma very well when she got he aneurysm she was treated with the best care and they really care for the visitors and there patients
My daughter went to have a minor procedure and ended up in ICU. Unfortunate circumstances..but is better and ready to go home (released by 1 dr) however another doctor ordered an MRI before release. SO...on Friday morning we were told that she was 5th in line to get the MRI so would be later in the day. Well..its now Sunday and still WAITING! No One can give us answers as to why she hasn't been taken to get it. Every time I ask a nurse they say they will check and then dont get back to us with a solid answer! It's always they don't know why or MRI is super busy. I get it..they get busy, but we have been waiting for 72 hours! That's 2 unnecessary overnight stays! We inquired about just checking ourselves out but were told the insurance wont cover it if we go without that 1 doctors approval. She could have come home on Friday..but the MRI is holding us up. We asked if she could be released and get the MRI as an outpatient somewhere else and they said "no". Honestly kinda feels like they are milking my insurance to pay for a bunch of unnecessary overnight stays. She could have come home on Friday..but the MRI is holding us up. All the doctors that have visited her say she is ready to go home. The nurses have been super nice, but this whole dragging it out thing is making me wonder about their motives. I understand she is not a priority and they are busy..but they won't allow her to get it somewhere else so we can go home so she is forced to stay overnight unnecessarily just waiting for MRI...been waiting for 72 hours to go get a test that is in the same building. AND racking up overnight stays in the meantime.
The worst thing that is in Arizona in hospital my husband came to the emergency dehydrated almost to the point of fainting and they treated him very mallll and sent him to sit and wait ,,, just thinking about that hospital in Arizona makes me sick
I am not impressed with the service and demeanor of the staff at Banner University. I have been to a few appointments here and the staff is mostly indifferent and treats you like a number, not a human being. Doctors I have seen talk over you and don't let you get a word in edgewise. Nurses here are surly for the most part. Nobody has been straight up rude to me here but you can see it in their faces that they don't care for their patients, or at least most of them. Kudos to the few who do. Then again most of the healthcare system in the US is like that. Too bad this place doesn't break that rule. I will not name names because I don't want to get sued but I can just say that if you want to be treated like a human being don't go to a Hospital system. Stick to a more private doctor/practice. That's if you can afford it. Otherwise deal with the likes of Banner University.
