Dr Ulfelder was absolutely amazing. My boy was diagnosed with Sarcoma which is a form of cancer. She got him in within the week to do the surgery. He has been doing so well!! She was very patient with me when I had asked a million questions. She never rushed me off the phone and I felt that she truly had the best interest of my dog. I will honestly say I expected the surgery to cost me over 4,000 it turned out to only be 2,095. The prices are reasonable. The surgical team has been available for me to ask any questions post surgery and allowed me to send a picture over to make sure all was all set with the incision. I have never been so impressed. I can not thank the staff at Angell Memorial enough for all of their hard work and dedication.

We brought a 4 month old kitten who became lethargic and stopped moving. The exam was performed and the x-rays. Doctor seemed very nice and compassionate. He told us that x-rays showed that there is something really wrong with the kitten's skeleton and that he needs a diagnosis by radiologist. We took the kitten home. Next day the doctor called and left a message with really bad news and asked us to call back to determine the treatment if possible. I've been calling all day and never had him return my call. The receptionist is pretty rude with no compassion. How can they charge $500, give us awful news, and not have 5 minutes to discuss the treatment???

Our cat ended up needing a partial tail amputation, and everyone involved was very kind and helpful (I was an anxious wreck). He is recovering marvelously, and our family is very grateful to Drs Lohin and Kudisch and the rest of the staff for their help. We found prompt, empathetic, skilled care at Angell.

Your pet will receive comprehensive and excellent care. It is easy to communicate with treating veterinarians through liasions. I have only had one negative experience in the 20 years I have been a client at Angell. Because you have emergency services, you are always there, which is a great comfort.

Everyone I encountered was incredibly lovely and kind. The emergency vet (whose name I'm so sorry I can't recall) who helped me decide what the next course of action would be in the treatment of my pet was above and beyond helpful and patient as I blubbed my way to the conclusion that humane euthanasia was the kindest option. She patiently listened through my tears and was so understanding and honest. I won't soon forget the experience as I felt heard and supported through a terrible ordeal. The absolute kindness of every staff member from the first phone call in to the final wave goodbye stands out, and makes this place so very special.

The care my cat, Little Yoda, received was caring, compassionate and skillful. Dr. Kirstin Johnson and Britt Gustafson pulled him through a sudden and serious illness. Dr. Montgomery, who was covering for Dr. Johnson when she was away, was also a standout, taking time to see us on short notice for consults. The team is responsive - always calling me back quickly when I phoned in with questions or concerns. I also appreciated the staff's taking the time to text me with updates and photos of Little Yoda when he was hospitalized - it makes a big difference!

Dr Hsu was incredible thought the whole diagnostic process and onwards. She really knew how to explain things to us and made it easy for us to make decisions for Gorgonzola as a team. The resources available to us at angell were outstanding, made it possible to get Gorgonzola the care she needed.
Having resources for all forms of treatment in one facility makes all the difference to us

My 7 year old chihuahua had surgery last week. The entire staff was supportive and compassionate. They walked me through exactly what would happen and kept me posted on his progress during the surgery. I even got a picture of my little guy once he woke up. I am so pleased with my experience at Angell. Best vet services I have received so far.

I brought my dog in to make sure there was nothing serious going on. He is a Dachshund, and has had some minor issues in the past. The vet who saw him was very thorough in her examination of him, and gave me instructions and meds to make him more comfortable.
My mind was eased, and his pain is being managed. I am very grateful. I appreciate receiving high quality care on Easter evening!

I just recently had to put my 14 yr old dog down and chose Angell at the recommendation of a friend. The vet and staff were very sensitive to our needs and truly made the experience bearable. Through every phase I felt like they put our needs first. We are new to Boston and will now use Angell for all of our pet needs going forward.

Loved the cat waiting area, the view of the adoption area was quite entertaining.
The KittyKarts and blue blankets to keep kitties calm are extremely thoughtful!
Check-in is efficient, wait time was short.
Vet tech was personable and competent.
Dr Ratnofsky was personable, knowledgeable, willing to answer all my questions and instruct me.

Her follow-up when the test results came back was on par with my medical doctor, and she's very good!

I appreciated that the exam was conducted by the vet with the excellent and well-coordinated support of a vet tech. Cats are so slippery that one doctor trying to poke and prod without assistance is quite awkward, and does not inspire confidence in the diagnosis.

My dog had surgery at Angell last month and I was very impressed with his care. They were very efficient and professional. I got updates via text on how my dog was doing, including pictures of him! They answered all my questions quickly and I felt that he was in good hands during his overnight stay. His surgeon Dr. Trout did a wonderful job, allowing for a quick recovery! Overall, very satisfied with Angell.

You will not find better veterinary care for your ...

You will not find better veterinary care for your beloved companion than Angell. Veterinary emergency and speciality care is expensive regardless of where you go so you have to be prepared for that and either get pet insurance or save up money for future emergencies. Given the high level of care, prices are quite reasonable compared to other veterinary speciality practices in the area and equivalent services in human hospitals. Options are presented so that you can select one that best fits your financial situation. You will not be disappointed if your expectations are realistic. My dog's life threatening condition was rapidly diagnosed and treated. She would not be with me today if it were not for the care she received in Angell's ICU. I received frequent updates and photos and was able to visit her several times in ICU, which was a great comfort to me. Watching the nurses in ICU work during the times that I visited convinced me that the staff is not only dedicated and highly competent, but aware that as a "dog mom" I am anxious and worried and appreciate kind, comforting gestures.

Kind doctors and staff. I appreciated the quick service and personal care from the doctors. I didn't appreciate the front desk person telling me that there were "emergencies" before my dog came in that were taking priority over his care. She told me they would keep him comfortable while dealing with those [actual] emergencies. My dog was seen for a severe allergic reaction, most likely from a yellow jacket sting. He was unrecognizable by the time we arrived. I was noticeably distraught and crying. I was really scared for my dog's health. I didn't know at that time that my dog was not in danger of anaphylaxis so to me this was a dire emergency. That comment made me feel like my pet wasn't a priority and made me more nervous for his well being. Thankfully he was seen right away and I was told by the doctor that he was not in danger of anaphylaxis- it was not until that moment that I could calm down.

First off the 'tech' that worked with Tobey initially was literally a dog whisperer. Tobey has been to plenty of vets and had numerous techs and vets give him exams, etc, and NONE of them were able to even use a stethoscope on him without him being muzzled. I warned her that he was a 'bad patient' and should be muzzled, but she would have none of that idea. She talked to Tobey like he was a person and basically negotiated a deal that every time she did something to him and he was a good boy, he'd get a treat. And, Yep, it worked.

Your neurologist, Dr. Jennifer Michaels, is basically a saint in my book. She diagnosed him correctly even prior to his imaging, and then walked me through any and all options once we had the results of the MRI. I decided on surgery, because my Tobey has helped me through the roughest times in my life and I owed it to him to give him his life back. I will forever be in Dr Michaels debt.

Everyone I dealt with at Angell was polite, compassionate and patient. I will recommend your hospital to everyone. Thank you and God bless you all. You're kind and compassionate both towards the animals and to their human parents. If only people doctors had half of those skills/traits the world would be a better place.

We came to Angell as an emergency patient on Sunday night, because our dog had a bad reaction to a bee sting. I called first, and the woman on the phone was really nice and helpful in counseling me on if I should bring in our dog. The reception staff was wonderful when we got there and a technician came out right away to take our dog in the back for medication. Dr. Engel was super nice and looked our dog over carefully and listened to my explanation. Her advice was really helpful and we've been giving our dog the medication according to the doctor's recommendation and she's already much, much better. Thanks so much for your quick and empathetic care! We really appreciate it!

I brought in my dog who had gotten into the bathroom trash the day before and was acting very strangely. I was worried about her having object(s) obstructing her digestive system, and the doctor on staff ended up doing x-rays and confirming there were foreign objects (in her colon, mostly) but no obstructions, and that she should be able to pass them. I wasn't informed about a recommended bland diet or how long I should wait for the foreign objects to pass until I called that evening wondering how long I should be keeping an eye on her stool for. I was also told that a doctor on staff would call me back later that night, but no one did. Otherwise the experience was satisfactory.

We brought our cat in for two emergency appointments in the span of three days. Both of the doctors we saw were extremely knowledgable and completed thorough exams to rule out possibilities before arrving at a likely diagnosis. Someone always called us back within a few hours when we had questions. And everyone seemed genuinely concerned about us and our cat's well-being. In this very difficult time, I'm glad we have the people at Angell helping us.

This is the most unprofessional, poorly run, and p...

This is the most unprofessional, poorly run, and predatory profit oriented "animal hospital" I have ever seen. I was referred by a vet at a clinic which did an X-ray and reccomended endoscopic "scoping" removal of a foreign body (piece of rubber) my cat had eaten early the next day.

My normal vet stressed the need for the scoping to be done early and as soon as possible. I dropped my cat off at Angell at 9 a.m and stressed the urgency. They immediately slapped me with a 175 "diagnostic" fee and a 300-500 "emergency srablization" fee despite him being fine. The Angell office said they would get medical records from my clinic.

Next I was told I was "next on the list" for five hours. I checked in at least six times and received no updates or timelines from Angell.

Five hours later, at 2 p.m, my cat was finally seen by a flustered vet who didn't have any records and was just "figuring things out." I explained calmly I was just here for an x-ray to see if an endoscopy was necessary. Could she do the X-ray in an hour? Nope - she rattled up the list of unnecessary procedures I had no choice but to consent to if I wanted the procedure my actual vet had referred me to get. I asked them to give him laxatives to see if he could pass the foreign body by stool - easily the most normal and inexpensive option. She wouldn't even consider it.

Apparently there were "many other cats waiting for a scoping" and a same-day procedure, without a costly and traumatizing overnight stay, was "unlikely." She also "does not work with insurance companies" and so could offer no help on whether her procedures would be deemed medically necessary.

Ten hours after dropping him off i got an update. My cat was fine and the object was in his colon so it would pass. Good thing I wasted up to 2.5k! This is something they could have found out at 10 a.m if they had just done the X-ray my medical professional had referred me there to do.

This for-profit "hospital" will literally take your pet hostage to maximize the fees they can charge, ignore the advice of other medical professionals, ignore all of your input, and put your animal's life at risk. They have no customer service office, no transparency in billing (you have to fight them to even see a paper copy of an invoice), no medical ethics: just a steely eyed accountant demanding 2.5k in lieu of a diagnostic that should cost less than 200 bucks. Stay away.

I was very impressed with my cardiology visit to A...

I was very impressed with my cardiology visit to Angell a few weeks ago. I met with Dr. Rebecca Quinn and cardiology assistant Robin Grammer. Both were friendly, professional, and considerate when meeting with my dog, Kylie, a 12 year old Border Collie and Aussie mix with a heart murmur. Both women took the time to ask questions about Kylie's medical history, and to carefully review her ultrasound and physical exam results before explaining the details to me. I am a very inquisitive person, and asked Dr. Quinn MANY questions, and I was so happy with how she took the time to patiently answer them all and really go into detail regarding Kylie's present health and future health maintenance.

Because I may be relocating in the near future, Dr. Quinn also went out of her way to find out if there were any veterinary cardiologists in my new location (there are none), and went even further to find an internist that she would recommend that I work with if we move, so that she could assist with coordinating care for Kylie. She also let me know that Kylie should remain as active as she wants to, which is a relief, because trying to impose a sedentary lifestyle on a "Border-Aussie" is truly a Sisyphean task!

I was even further impressed that Dr. Quinn reached out to me via email with a summary of her findings, as well as updates on some of the bloodwork results within a few days of our appointment. Several days later, when all the test results were back, I received a phone call from her as well, to make sure I received her emails and to discuss the rest of the bloodwork results. I have never worked with a veterinarian so accessible and so happy to explain everything and answer my exhausting gauntlet of overly specific questions. Time is valuable, and I was so impressed with the time Dr. Quinn took to really go into detail about Kylie's ultrasound and bloodwork.

I am so relieved to have stumbled on Dr. Quinn and Angell Animal Medical Center! The exceptionally sincere and capable care that Kylie received has empowered my husband and I to confidently make informed decisions for her that will keep our lovable girl healthy and happy in the years to come. Thank you so much!

The entire staff at Angell was amazing! From the moment we made our nervous phone call about our sick cat, everyone worked so hard to make a scary situation as easy and comforting as possible. The frequent text messages that included pictures and updates, as well as answered our questions, were very reassuring and helpful during our pets 2 day stay. We even received guidance on the financial aspects with helping us apply for care credit and financial aid. We have received quick responses on our follow up questions and our cats scar is healing beautifully. Thank you Angell team!

Disappointed with the service. In light of COVID, ...

Disappointed with the service. In light of COVID, there has been conflict between posted info, info given over the phone by reps, and what actually happens.
1. I specifically asked over the phone whether or not staff changes PPE including masks between each animal. I was assured that they do, so I scheduled an appointment. However, all the staff I interacted with was wearing reusable masks and not changing them between each animal.
2. Website mentions possibility of video communication while your pet is inside of the hospital. The staff at the actual hospital acted like it was completely unreasonable to ask, even though we set up and brought our own extra iPad so we could watch the visit. What was going to be done during the visit was described very generally and not step by step. We took him for a nail trim and an annual visit, but we are not sure what was included in the "annual visit" part. Did they take his temperature? Weight? Height? I don't know. No documentation was provided to us at the end of the visit.
3. Currently you have to drop off your animal at the front desk. Process seems chaotic, there is no labeling of the crates/animals, no ids checked. While I was waiting to drop off mine, I was called by front desk to come pick him up as his "visit was over". I had him in my arms at that time.... This did not inspire confidence. What if they mix up animals or hand them off to the wrong person?

Inability to monitor the visit by video basically means your pet is taken away with no means of contact, this opens door for all sorts of issues. Just because this industry is not well regulated does not mean this treatment of animals and their humans is acceptable.

I only put two stars because prior to covid we had a really nice vet. This time, I am not even sure who was treating my bunny so I cannot comment on it (I don't even know if it was the same person).

I was grateful for the consistency with the doctors follow up. We had two different doctors during the weekend that worked to communicate when they said they would. Everyone on their team was aligned every time I spoke to the two doctors. I was impressed with their internal communication, and their communication with me and the follow ups were impeccable. I Felt both doctors really cared and you we able to tell that they spent enough time to get to know my dog. We are happy and healthy hear again my house thanks to your amazing staff! What I appreciated most about Angell is their communication. They calm when they say they will for follow up. AND they really care for your animals well-being and take the time to figure out the best path to go.

Angell has been an amazing place for us. I could not have found a better spot for our newly geriatric pets. Angell was the first place to truly diagnose and follow up with the care for both our 17 year old cat and 15 year old dog. They have adjusted our appts so both pets could be seen together, they follow up regularly and are available via email anytime. They have been wonderful about responding quickly and we have been thrilled to have a vet that can truly monitor all services. Our cat was diagnosed with cancer and it was great to have our oncologist and general vet communicate and truly monitor her care together. They are fantastic!! We've had to board our cat at Angell while we were out of town and the staff again were so great that she didn't seem upset when we got home. It was the first time she has had to be boarded and we couldn't have been happier with the service. I understand that if you have young pets and likely don't need the vast array of services they offer, it might feel a little cold. That said-- this is the third vet in the third city we have had to adjust to and our first vet was a smaller clinic and we LOVED everyone there. They knew us by name and it was very warm inside. The second clinic was about as large as Angell and it was definitely a COLD place. The care was intermittent, they didn't usually remember what happened with our pets the last visit and results weren't communicated clearly. So while the building and set up may seem cold since they are also an emergency and rescue location, the staff there are wonderful and truly care about your pets.

Our dog received very caring and professional care at Angell Animal Medical Center. It was an unusual case and we were very happy that Dr Pavletic was able to review the case and set up a course of action. When we decided that surgery was necessary, the staff was very helpful and understanding, calling us before surgery to ensure we were all set and calling afterwards to let us know our dog was doing well. We feel that we received an expert opinion and are pleased with the continuing care.

This was a difficult visit for me, as the result was a terminal diagnosis for my cat. Every single member of your staff, from Dr. Landry (who had the task of breaking the news to me and explaining the situation) to Keith at the front desk to Chrissy who walked me through the discharge process, was extremely kind, knowledgable, and patient with me. I can't thank them enough for making things as easy as possible. I'm sorry I don't also have the names of the ER staff from Sunday night or the women I spoke to on the phone Monday and Tuesday mornings, but they deserve recognition as well.

It's got to be extremely difficult work, having to deal with the grief and sadness of your patients' parents every day, and the staff at Angell handled it with grace and sympathy. I am grateful to all of them. (The medical care is first-rate, too, but I had less direct experience with that.)

Angell memorial hospital is beyond amazing at what they do. They have an incredibly well organized system. It runs just as a regular hospital for people would, if not better. Everyone single person there that we have met seems to truely care about the animals and their owners. Excellent communication between staff members and patients. We were never left in the dark. The staff here is so professional and completely dedicated compared to other emergency animal ERs we have been to. Our dog's issue was very rare, his care was very involved, so we got to know Angell memorial well through many appointments and we have not one bad thing to say! Thank you guys all so much!

Dr Erika de Papp was so on top of our poor doggie s rare situation and got us a diagnosis within 24 hours of our admitting Shyla. This was after our local vet plus a referral hospital vet were unable to do so over a number of days. The staff an Angell were all wonderful too, we really loved getting the nightly pics of our pup with the little status updates by text. What a nice touch. It was incredibly sad to learn that Shyla s cancer was otherwise addressable but located in a place where it could not be removed. But we are grateful how Erika handled everything and was responsive even up until our last day a few hours before we had to put Shyla down to make sure she got the full biopsy data to us, removing any doubt that we were doing the right thing for our fur baby. I would 100% recommend Angell. And I hope the symptoms our Shyla suffered and the eventual diagnosis (Erika said she had never seen this cancer in this particular location) can help diagnose and maybe one day treat other dogs with the same problems.

We use Angell for emergency care, off hours, vacations etc.

While sometimes you have to wait just because it's a busy day/night, we have always been well cared for, appreciated their competent staff and high quality facility and our dogs and cats have always received good care. We were happy to bring our dog, Rory, to Angell.

We recently happened upon a quiet evening (midnight :) ), were taken care of swiftly and competently.

Rory, our 4 year old mixed breed, had had an allergic reaction to some treat she ate. We were done in 30 mins and all went home, healthy and happy. The doctor who took care of us was friendly with us, sweet with Rory, and again efficient and competent in his care of her. Thank you!

I brought my cat in when he was very sick and vomiting. I ended up having to have him admitted, and I felt that he was very well cared for during his time there. All of the people I came in contact with at the mspca were very compassionate and understanding. They kept me posted frequently via phone calls on what was happening, and took the time to answer my questions.
My only *minor* complaint is the the long wait time in the ER (I was prepared to wait a long time, but was told by the receptionist that there was "no wait" which was a bit misleading). Overall my experience was very good--the bill was painful, but I got my baby home without needing surgery, so I'm calling that a win :)

We received excellent care very promptly after our first visit - we were pleasantly surprised that there were multiple openings for surgery the same week as our consultation. Dr. Pavletic and our care coordinator Jessica were terrific and our pup seemed perfectly comfortable post-op. We will recommend Angell highly to anyone who asks. Dr. Cai took amazing car of our puppy who had ingested mouse poison while at another house. Once we figured out what had happened he administered an amazing amount of care and luckily saved his life. While he was in care all the Doctors and nurses were amazing at the amount of details they provided and they really "spoke" for our dog. We are happy to say he is doing great so far and without their quick decision making the outcome would be quite different. If you have the slightest idea your animal ingested something dangerous please call Angell right away.

Avoid this place if possible. our cat wasn t eating or drinking water and had high fever. after two days spent as inpatient, blood tests, x-ray and ultrasound, they have no clue what is wrong with him. in addition to the stress caused to our cat spending two days alone while no progress was made, we paid $1900 for nothing. zero diagnostic skills, poor customer relations.

edit: I did call and ended up talking to 4 different people. No adjustments were made to the bill. Please don't pretend to care for your patients while you clearly don't.

Dr. Duddy was fantastic with our dog Phoenix. Very friendly to us and the dog, which is a huge bonus for a vet. She was very thorough with her exam and explaining all our options and steps forward. We left knowing the next steps and confident in our decisions. Thanks Dr. Duddy! We appreciate how clearly Dr. Duddy cares about both her patients and their owners. Also her quality of care is off the charts and she kept our dog calm so she wasn't scared. Her knowledge and explanation of what we need to do next for Phoenix's care was great and very easy to understand. She's a great vet!

If you're reading this because you're in a crisis ...

If you're reading this because you're in a crisis and wondering if you should take your beloved animal to this clinic, then I URGE you to read this entire review.

Our 6 and a half year old dog was pregnant and we arrived urgently to Angell's clinic desperate for help because she was having contractions for four hours after only birthing one puppy. My boyfriend called before arrival to let them know that we have a pregnant dog in pain, pup, and expressed his deep concern. The only response was "you'll be due $155.00 examination and everything else that follows." Fair, of course, there's a price but can you at least say something that reassures that you want to help? However, we were almost there and panicking so continued in high hopes. We walked in, and I was holding her newborn pup in my arms wrapped in my PJs and went to the front desk and said, "can I please get this puppy formula, she has not eaten in four hours and I'm afraid for her life?" The woman at the front desk said that someone would be right out AFTER your dog gets checked in. Very upset, I said ok and waited with my boyfriend. We arrived around 10:15pm and did not get checked in and seen until 10:45pm even after we called. No one was in the waiting room, and there was no sense of urgency. The most pleasant person we dealt with was the nurse that came out and greeted us. She took the dogs vitals without a problem, and she said she would be right back. Upon her return, she stated they needed to separate the pup from her mother, and take the mother back alone. Any educated professional should know that it is not in the mothers best interest to bring her to an unknown area while she is in stress, without her newborn pup, and her owner. It sounds like you're only putting the dog in a more stressful situation, this is common sense. We asked why we could not remain together, and she told you just can't, its protocol. After some arguing and begging, they allowed us to stay together in a room.

At this point, we were waiting for our doctor, Maya, who came in greeted herself coldly, and took the mothers vitals and asked some questions. We told her about a green discharge, and she disregarded the statement (this is significant, please continue to read). I asked again if I could get some formula for the baby and reiterated she had not eaten in 5 hours, and the doctor said she would look to see if there's an extra in the back. I'm thinking, "How is it possible that Angell hospital s EMERGENCY department has no formula for this puppy that may die?" and she also went on to say, you should probably get the puppy checked in for evaluation too. She even stated that it is dangerous for the puppy to go without being fed for only an hour, but she proceeded to do nothing about it. She never bothered to look for the formula, and never updated us on the status of that. She said she needed to take the mother back but my boyfriend wanted to go with her because of the mother s stress levels, but Maya said that no one could be back there.

Brought in a very sick dog and was very relieved to have a professional, competent, empathic staff , from desk staff, to techs, to vets. This is my second time making an emergency visit, and both times I have been impressed with the excellent care. Thank you!

Want the best for your pet? Take them to Angell. They offer primary veterinary care, 24/7 emergency services, a full-service veterinary pharmacy, and specialists of every stripe. We've taken our pets to Angell for years. It gives us great peace of mind to know that whatever medical problem one of our pets might face, there is a specialist and state-of-the-art facilities right down the hall. Angell goes out of their way to make clients comfortable, with ample free parking; separate waiting areas for dogs, cats, and exotics; free coffee; and a vending area with tables and chairs. We love Angell. We cant imagine our pets' lives without them.

Our dog was hit by a car. I came into the hospital and everyone made sure that the dog got to the top of the list in terms of being seen. The professional and administrative staff were efficient and courteous and understood that I was in a difficult state. My phone kept running out of power and I had to sit in my car to keep it charged, so the staff made sure I knew when to come into the building to check with the Dr. rather than asking me to sit in the waiting room You take care of the animals and the people, both of whom need attention and care. But your focus on the pets is very reassuring.

Also, we had to leave the dog overnight and the staff was very good about letting us know what was going on. We got a photo one night and some texts from the the staff that she was doing well. The Doctor was also very conscientious about letting us know what was happening. WHen she said she would call, she called. When she said how we could reach her, that's how we reached her.

My dog ate something that they should have not and they threatened her life, saying that they would either put her down or give her away if we didn't pay a thousand dollars a day. I cannot believe they would do that. I INSTEAD took her to Tureen where they cared deeply about her unlike Angel.

Check in was quick and friendly. Barely had to wait before the tech got us. Dr ratnofsky is always amazing with my dog. Ally can be really nervous but she adores Mara and even sat on her lap! She was quick and had such finesse when doing the vaccines and exam and her tech Brittany was very thorough while taking a history and very loving to Ally as well. When she had a tough time getting Ally s blood (totally understandable, she s super fluffy and not always an easy stick) she was able to get another tech very quickly to give it a try. Jamie from clinic stepped in and saved the day! They all could see that Ally was nervous but were so patient and sweet and kept telling her that it was ok and that she was a good girl.

Girlfriend's cat got sprayed by a skunk. She was in tears and worried about him. She called this place and they told her she should bring him in. I frantically picked her up after she called me in tears. Got there. Told the woman at the desk what happened. Some guy behind the desk laughs and says "most people just wash it off" while my girlfriend is literally in tears because of her cat. The most reprehensible and appalling thing I've experienced at a hospital, especially considering she was told. To take him in. The only good thing is this place didn't get a penny of my money. Unbelievable.

Dr Hannah Lewis was amazing. She listened to me and was extremely thoughtful. Even though she had bad news to tell me she helped me to look at the positives of the situation.
The only negative was the amount of time i had to wait to be seen initially. I also think that there should be longer visiting hours to visit your pet while they are in the CCU.

From the moment we entered the medical center, the environment was one of care, compassion and understanding.
The initial exam experience prioritized the comfort of my pet. I loved that she got to walk around in the exam room and explore while the doctor explained the action plan.
I greatly appreciated the check-in calls and text message update with a picture of me dog.
The visit was not the most comfortable as I went with my mother who was older and stood up for the entire visit which lasted 30 minutes. I wish there was a place for us to sit with her.
The discharge meeting was great. I appreciated the opportunity to ask questions.
GREAT COMMUNICATION!!!

Dr. Ryan Bookstaff, the ER vet we saw, gave my cat Poppy excellent care. He was very calm and sympathetic as he gave a preliminary evaluation of her eye infection and a scratch on her cheek that was very swollen, took her away to see the ophthalmologist and look after her condition, then explained everything he had done and how I should look after her. We have been Angell clients for almost ten years, and I am always impressed by and grateful for the care Poppy and her late sister Sissy have received.
Every experience we have had at Angell has been remarkable, especially the extraordinary care my late cat Sissy received and the kindness and sensitivity we both felt during her four-year chronic illness and eventual decline. Everyone--the receptionists, Drs. Jean Duddy and Susan O'Bell, and their assistants, and the pharmacists--went above and beyond any level of care and professionalism I could have imagined.

Really great resource, especially for low income families that need services for pets. We had our dog neutered through their low cost spay/neuter program. Easy drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, all with social distancing guidelines in place. Also a microchip, nail trim, and vaccines were included in the cost of the procedure, and they sent him home with pain meds no extra cost.

I am very saddened and disappointed with this faci...

I am very saddened and disappointed with this facility's staff and best practices based off of my experience on Tuesday 12/29/15. I brought my 1 1/2 year old male cat, Wheezy in for inability to urinate, physical pain, vomiting. The vet told me that he was blocked and that time was of the essence and that they could not express him manually and to "unblock him" we needed to talk about payment and treatment. The ONE thing they did do right was give him pain medication right away, the humane thing to do. The veterinarian told me that she suggested the "gold standard" of care which was to use invasiveness to unblock him, IV fluids, and a few days stay for observation. She went on to explain that the cost would be anywhere from $800.00 to $2,000.00. I explained to her that I applied for the Care Credit and did not qualify and that I got paid on Friday (3 days away) and I would do anything to save my cat and I would be in on payday to pay my bill, even if I had to volunteer around the clinic in the meantime as a thank you for the generosity. Well, the vet's answer was "we do not accept payment plans of any type, I suggest asking someone to borrow the money or call around to other vet hospitals, OR it wouldn't be inhumane to euthanize him". I started weeping uncontrollably of course not only at the thought of losing our family's best furry friend, but the fact that you would think veterinarians get their job because they truly care about the welfare of animals- not based off of immediate "cash in my hand or we can put your animal down". You can try and throw policy around all you want- but when it comes to life or death on the line- to say they cannot accept payment on Friday with my paycheck and to kill my cat is completely unacceptable in my eyes. I would consider what the vet said to be a valid medical suggestion- HOWEVER my cat is only 1 1/2 not 15+ senior cat. He has barely lived a beautiful life thus far. I called a local clinic and they didn't hesitate to tell me to bring him right there, time is ticking for his life, be safe driving (because of the snow storm) and we will work with you on payment because we want to save your cat. Now THOSE are people that care about the welfare of animals. Could I say the same about the MSPCA Angell West if someone asked? No, I cannot. I also waited 20 minutes to get Wheezy back in my care after the vet came in and asked for a status on payment update. The receptionist continued to tell me that they will bill me $150.00 for today's visit and BEFORE I LEFT I had to pay $10.00 for the pain killers they gave to Wheezy? Are you serious? I handed her the $10.00 and couldn't wait to get out of there. Thanks to a local clinic full of loving people, my cat is still alive today and making a recovery. I would also like to add that I kept my word and made my first payment to them on Friday, when I got paid- correction Saturday due to the holiday and they were not open. My bare minimum thought of this clinic summed up is- if you are going to turn away saving an animal's life based off of IMMEDIATE payment, do NOT be an EMERGENCY clinic. Because, we all know, whether human or animal, no one can PLAN an emergency and not everyone has extra thousands of dollars lying around in the bank!

PS. The bill was nowhere near $800.00-$2,000.00

We had to take our cat in because of some severe coughing and paid the $145 emergency visit fee and waited about 2 hours to get checked out (reasonably typical experience). The vet checked her out and and did a few minor tests, made some suggestions for at home treatments. Then followed up with offering to do an xray if we wanted, mentioned very casually. Sure, doesn't sound like a big deal we thought. Must be just a small fee on top of the emergency visit. No mention of price or expensiveness. No mention of extra charges as we leave either.

Then almost a month later we get an unitemized bill for $220 with no detail. I discussed it with them and got no where. To me it feels like they have no respect for people's ability to pay and feel no responsibility to be up front with their charges. A doctor would discuss pricing of treatments with an uninsured patient for optional procedures. Why would vet's office be incapable of this?

I can t say enough about how amazing the people at Angell are. My rabbit, my guinea pig, and I have all been treated with compassion and care every time we ve been here. From the front desk staff to the people on the phone to the vet techs to the vets, everyone here truly loves animals and cares about seeing them well.
They ve saved my rabbit s life an amazing five times. I can t thank them enough.

My dog was extremely sick and needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately we were not able to come up with the money up front that they were requiring so they recommended we surrender him and they will take care of al of his medical needs and then adopt him out to a family that loves him as much as we did. An entire 24 hours had passed and my phone rang from MSPCA, my heart instantly dropped. They informed me the dog was showing aggressive behavior and they weren t going to move forward with any treatment or surgery and the only option was euthanasia. They proceeded to tell me no surgery or medical treatment had been done yet..... my dog was only two years old and has been with our family for two years. We have a one year old and two year old and our pup was far from aggressive. I am sick to my stomach that they allowed him to sit there so sick for so long without operating on him as he was puking up blood for almost 48 hours at that point. If my dog was to show any sign of aggression, it would ve been the first time and quite frankly, I wouldn t blame him. Out dog was in a unfamiliar place surrounded by strangers, he was very sick tired and probably in a lot of pain. I do not think euthanasia should have been the result, shouldn t have even been in an option in this situation because if there was any fear or concern, they are a vet and could ve given him any typed of meds to calm him down or even muzzle if they thought was necessary. I m disgusted in this place and forever hurt that they refused help to my baby and it ended in a wrongful death.

This place is great! The staff is very caring for every single person and pet that comes through the doors. They have emergency vets available, and a pharmacy right inside the main lobby area.

There are separate waiting areas for dogs and cats with treats available to keep your pet a little less stressed out from being sick or in need of a regular vet visit.

You can also adopt pets directly from here, which is a good way to give the pet a nice home and it will help fund all the things that they do here.

The vets follow up with you about your pets, and every person who works there is very friendly.

Your pet will get good care here.

Razor (an amazing (rescue) cat!) referred to Angell ~ 5 yr ago with a "rare" ($$) ailment- pemphigus folliogeus. Yes.. expensive problem but his MD team enabled him a normal life up until now. Age caught up with Razor @ 17 years. Various interventions offered (because technology can) but reality it's "dwindles". Feel comforted all options were explored on Razor's behalf and his existence on this Planet in making us humans laugh & smile was appreciated. Thank U all @ Angel.

I don't have much to say other than everyone has been so kind and full of empathy for our dog. It really feels like everyone there is rooting for us. After every visit I feel like I have a firm grasp on what is happening with my dog. Everyone takes time to explain and answer any questions. And again, it truly feels like everyone in the building is rooting for our dog.

The front desk was rude and did not communicate with us about what was going on with our dog, I asked if they could check on him (had been an hour with no word on his condition) and they brushed me off and never asked. BUT, the vet and the technician that originally treated our dog was awesome, so helpful, but wish we could have met with the Vet earlier instead of being brushed off by the front desk. And it was great that our dog was attended to right away - he had an allergic reaction and was completely swollen in the face and covered in welts, when we arrived the technician took him right away to get shots.

Every single person I interacted with was incredible. I was panicked and scared just like my cat and every single person showed empathy and patience. DR. REZ! She was the best, I can t thank her enough. My first Dr Koontz( I think??) was great too. Keith & Taylor (i think?)at the desk were so kind. I wish I remembered everyone s name but I can t say enough about how wonderful everyone was. The general kindness everyone showed was amazing. I was a mess and I felt like the minute I walked in, everything would be ok! Dr. Rez spent a lot of time with me on the phone (sometimes 30 minutes a call!) and on site making sure I understood everything. I didn t feel rushed out. You could feel the genuine caring from everyone. As I'm sure you can imagine, the payment part is overwhelming but I was given options and felt comfortable asking as may questions as I needed. While I hope to never come back due to an emergency, I feel confident that if I do, it will be a great experience again

The MSPCA Angell Animal Hospital is great. I would bring my dog back to this hospital anytime she needs to be seen in an emergency. The staff is professional and knowledgable. The facility is clean, organized, and beautiful. The Veterinarian who treated our 2 year old lab was wonderful and I would highly recommend her to anyone with a pet. I feel that my dog received the best possible treatment during her visit.

I very much appreciated the attentiveness when I brought my cat in for emergency care on a Sunday. Though not an immediate life-threatening situation, I was going out of town that evening and needed to know if it was safe to leave my pet with somebody else. My cat was vomiting and not eating for a couple of days. Dr. Baker apologized for my having to wait as she was dealing with a greater emergency, none was needed but appreciated.

Dr. Baker was great in proving me with all the different choices along with her strong recommendations aiding in my decision making. I had earlier told her that her job was taking care of a nervous owner!

My mind was eased by having appropriate tests done to rule out serious issues.
The doctor was great at answering my questions even taking my recommendations seriously and acting on one of them.

That done, we could then focus on treatment and aftercare. By the end of the visit I had my cat back with a treatment plan and medications.

The follow-up phone call from Angel allowed me to ask questions about diet and was given very helpful information.

Also helpful was being told that lab tests costs were very good as Angel is non-profit. Knowing that Angel is non-profit influenced me to undertake the tests knowing that they were justified and reasonable.

Love you folks!

Imagine the surprise of being told you have an additional $3300 balance due less than a day after making a second deposit. These people refuse to communicate true cost of care - initial estimate of $1600-$2600 turned into an $8000 bill and all they could say is "well, what we did saved his life". Then they make you buy double the prescription meds as needed because "That's the system" according to the employees in the pharmacy.
The quality of medical care is fine - otherwise they deserve 0 stars for ethics!

I already sent a thank-you note to Angell because our experience with the emergency/after-hours team was so positive. Our cat ate some packing tape and was vomiting badly and seemed very uncomfortable. We'd never seen her so unhappy, and we were really worried. At Angell, all of our interactions were professional and reassuring everyone was so kind. We also appreciated the waiting area where we could sit with our cat away from the dogs. Thank you for taking such good care of us all on such a scary night!

After my bird, Trixie, was examined by the ER vet, they had her wait in a back room all alone until she could be seen by the vet. I understand it is their policy, but my baby would be much less stressed if she could've waited with me. We were there for a total of about two hours just to tell us she has to go on antibiotics for two weeks.

From the start to the end the process of the visit was very smooth - we had an appointment so we waited about 5 minutes. The visit with the doctor was not rushed at all, he answered all my questions and took the time to explain the process we were going to follow to determine the diagnosis.

The hospital was clean, the waiting area is spacious and the interaction with other dogs can be easily minimized. The doctors office was equally clean and comfortable.

Overall the experience was very positive.

After 8 hours of waiting and a few tests I was told my cat is fine and I shouldn t be worried. A different vet told me otherwise and advised me to get him hospitalized. I unfortunately went back to Angel only to be told it s too late. Save your pets from those murderers!

Update: I brought my cat, paid the full ER cost and waited for 3 times more than other people that were coming and going. What concerns could I possibly have to talk to you about other than warn other people about you?
