Have been taking our dogs and our foster dogs here for nearly 10 years and love everyone on staff. Love that they are 24 hour, too, so that if something happens after normal business hours my pets are seeing staff they know.

Since COVID-19 this practice has adopted a new business model. You are no longer allowed on the premises. You check in from your phone in the parking lot, a technician comes to retrieve your pet and any conversations with the vet are by phone. I would be OK with these changes if they were well run but they are not. Since they started with their new business model I have experienced dropped calls, long hold times, lost files and excessive wait times. The practice has become very disorganized and I have seen a marked decline in customer service. I understand we are all getting used to the "new normal" with the pandemic but even then I don't think making an appointment, and actually being seen, should be a struggle.

The incompetence of the vets at this clinic caused...

The incompetence of the vets at this clinic caused my cat a week of pain before he died. On a holiday, they were the only clinic open when my cat was lethargic and vomiting. The vet quoted us at well over two thousand dollars for three days of overnight care and stated my cat was just diabetic and this was causing complications. This was, tragically, very wrong. The next day we were told our beloved cat had renal failure (but maybe also had diabetes, too) and would need to be given subcutaneous fluids for the rest of his life. A week later, my cat, now on not a holiday, went in to our regular vet because of worsening condition and she immediately felt a very large lump in his abdomen. He had cancer, a very large tumor, and had to be put down that afternoon, as there was nothing that could be done. He died in pain, and I have to live with that perhaps if we had gone to a competent vet, they would have noticed the lump sooner...and maybe something could have been done about it. This is a chain, for-profit, at-all-costs clinic. Please, find someone else and do not let your loved one go through what my cat did.

Many people complain about many different things. Maybe the price was too expansive, or maybe there were too many unnecessary charges. I, first, had very mixed feeling about this place after reading some reviews.

After going through with them, as I had euthanize my dog, now I am calmed down and able to make a fair judgement. I have decided to give this place 5 stars. I believe what it really matters the most is not the price, but their willingness to try their best to save the dog, and be sympathetic, and assist in making the best decision for the dog.

They have been superb, moreover, I could see that they are pet owners, just like me. They feel the same pain when they see elderly dog needing to say goodbye. They know how you are in need of help and willing to be there for you.

I would like to thank them for doing best at their job. And also wish other people to see that they have kind heart.

Dr Brad Phillips tried to convince us to kill our two year old lab.. We brought Murphy in because he was vomiting blood. 1600.00 for initial exam. Staff the next day kept us informed to say Murphy is doing great. He should be released by 1400hrs that day. 1500hrs so called Dr Phillips called us to say Murphy needed emergency surgery for an additional 3,000. When we questioned the amount and why, he became irate and irritable. He said if you want to pick him up and can t afford to take care of your dog I should put him to sleep.
We immediately picked up our dog, took our dog to another vet. They did all the same tests and gave Murphy heartburn medicine. Total cost 75.00. The same dog Dr Phillips was going to kill a healthy dog for money. I called VCA corporate, they ignored my complaint. Dr Brad Phillips is a money monger who will kill a perfectly healthy animal for money .. He s a animal killer not a vet .. Do not take your dog here! I will publish him home address shortly.

Truthfully I brought my dog in she was an older dog but I couldn t afford the $800 xrays and blood work so they suggested I put her to sleep.. I feel as if I was pressured to euthanize my dog. I ve had this Animal for over a decade and I ve been hurting for days. She was my best friend. The woman who did it didn t even shut her eyes just left her there. Just letting you guys know. For future if you read this don t put your dog to sleep. It s just another buck to them but if your pet is family would you do that to a family member? I ll probably regret this for life.

I was referred to the VCA from the Atlanta Humane Society and am very pleased so far! Everyone has been super helpful as i adjust to having a new pet. My kitten has gotten great treatment from the team as well and is always handled with love and care. I LOVE that this is a 24 hr vet, it's a nice piece of mind that I can always count on them. Highly recommend from my experiences so far!

I'll find a different place the next time. The receiving room has been reduced to add more exam rooms since my last visit. It's too small. Main impression, LOUD!! Not pet friendly. The four seat room had a TV (volume up), the counter staff, one in particular, nonstop, nonsense banter with a very loud cackle and calling out over intercom. The examination room was cold with a noisy a/c vent that was frightening my pet. The room where blood and urine are taken seemed to be a door away. I heard my pet crying and on his return to me he was very upset as we sat and listened to other cats and dogs crying out. Lots of slamming doors and yes the the nonstop banter from reception audible as well. Have they ever heard of Temple Grandon? Try thinking about the animals experience, walk through it from their perspective and make some changes. The medical consult was brief, but seemed adequate.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL YOU WONT TAKE THEM TO THIS PLACE!!!! Our puppy had a reaction and her right eye swole up till it was almost closed. Our friend suggested a vet but when we got thereThey said they couldn t take new patients and suggested VCA because it was close. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went. We brought her in early in the morning. The people greeted us and took the paper work we brought from a different hospital. They called a tech. After a couple of minutes went by the looked at each other and said I know they are back there but no one wants to come out . When the tech came out she immediately took our puppy away and we were placed in a room. 3 different people came and asked us the same exact questions over and over. After awhile they sent us home with some ointment for her eye. The whole day went by and at 9/10 pm her eye swole up even worse. When we called the hospital to ask if that was a normal reaction to the medication they kept asking what medication I gave her. I kept repeating the ones you gave us this morning and we need to know the side effects. The lady refused to tell us what common side effects were and kept insisting that we needed to come back in for an examination. I begged her to tell me what the side effects were and she started getting rude and said that if is was so scary I would bring her back in. No one there seemed to care or even know what they were talking about. We went to St Francis that night and the experience was like night and day! I wouldn t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The staff and vets here were attentive, kind, and sympathetic. We came in with a sweet foundling cat who wouldn't eat but we were very worried about money. They were understanding and generous, honest up front about all the costs, and they worked to find the best solution we could manage on our budget without compromising the cat's health. They clearly care about animals and people. We are extremely thankful for them.

I'm not sure why they're not rated higher but this VCA has helped us out, a lot over the years.

From their emergency care, to the helpful staff (shoutout to Gary and the team!), this 24/7 clinic is thorough when it comes to our fur kids.

Even though we lost our big guy (Kahlua), they were there to help us.

My visit dates back to June 2019. I brought in my cat for an emergency visit. I decided not to do the fecal test because it wasn't necessary so they credited it back to my card over the phone the next morning. I had to bring in my cat a couple hours later and they ended up giving me an estimate for the next round of treatment. But this time the nurse came in stating that the $76 that was credited back to me that morning hadn't been processed yet so when I make my decision on which tests I want to do - to consider the $76 will be applied to my bill vs crediting it back to my card. Since the bank hadn't posted the return from earlier that morning - I trusted the nurse on his word and proceeded with the estimate minus a couple of things BUT with the $76 credit on this bill. Turns out there was a miscommunication with the nurse and front desk where they didn't update the system. NOWWW they want the $76 and the $76 was returned to my bank but if I had known that the bank refund was actually happening - it would've altered my decision on which tests to do on my cat!!! Their manager - Mary Ann - kept repeating how it wasn't VCA's fault. How is it not their fault that their nurse and front desk weren't communicating and updating their system? So it's MY fault that I was lead to believe that the $76 credit on my bill was something I WROTE in their estimate? Absolutely not.

I'm now sitting in the waiting area at VCA and Mary Ann Miller has avoided me by saying she's on a "conference call" and she'd be out in 20 minutes. She emails me at 11:12 AM as she is apparently on this very important "conference call". by 11:20 AM I ask if shes ready and after some time the front desk woman comes back out to say she is still on the conference call and then the front desk woman says she doesn't know when it will be over. Literally the most immature and unprofessional treatment by Mary Ann - she failed to understand the mistake that her employees have made and as a business - be empathetic for a customer trying to make the most budget safe decisions for my cat. Thumbs down all the way for the way they handled this.

**Update**
MaryAnn Miller comes out of her office to meet me after an hour of waiting. She kept shoving the debit card refund receipt + the bill showing that $76 was being subtracted to the bill I paid in person. I looked at her and said "Yes, this bill is the mistake of your employee who added the subtraction of $76 and failed to remember that she had returned the fee earlier that morning." MaryAnn once again confirms the incorrect bill and information relayed is not their fault. I am so fed up at this point because it's NOT about the money - it's about MaryAnn's failure to admit their mistake and come to a solution we can BOTH agree on. So I decide to propose a solution - that I pay 50% of the leftover amount. She says no and then walks back into her office leaving me in the clinic - floored.
Disgusting behavior.

**update**
I walked out and said I ll just take this up with corporate which none of them probably thought I d actually go through with. Well I did and they were very responsive. They re located in Los Angeles and the department that helped was a Client Experience Specialist. I explained the situation and they were on my side. The specialist ended up reaching out to the regional director of ATL and then the bill was cleared.

Timeliness and handling seemed to be a little bit of an issue on our visit. More than an hour wait time to see someone for our planned appointment.

Facilities are well kept though, & staff's friendly.

I took my dog in for routine grooming then after several hours I received a phone call that my dog had stopped breathing and the doctor was trying to resustate her. I and my partner rushed to get there and I injured my ankle in my rush to get to her. They said they had to put her to sleep at a cost of over $100.00 to trim her nails because she was so agitated. she recovered but has not been the same since then. I have since found out from other groomers that she is calm when being groomed. I would never take her there again I would rate them lower but one star is the lowest you can post. I plan to take legal action against them, the owner and the doctor for their conduct. response yes she was groomed at your facility maybe you no longer do grooming but you did two years ago and she was groomed at this which I will prove in court with a cancelled check when I file a lawsuit against your company.

It has taken me a couple of days to write this, but I feel it s important to be said. VCA is not our regular vet. They were my go to in case of emergencies bc they were closer to my home and open nights and weekends with no appt necessary. I have four animals and all of them have cycled through here at one point or another. Even without an appt they always treated us first class.
This Saturday my husband and I were out of town and got a call from our roommate that one of our babies wasn t walking right and had defected in her kennel overnight (she never has accidents). We asked him to bring her to VCA. We never thought that it would be the last place she went. The vet staff was so kind and caring. She ended up having what they believe to be a brain tumor that had gotten into her nervous system. We were 2.5 hours away for a funeral and immediately got into the car to go be with her. The staff there was INCREDIBLE. They called us with updates and made sure she was never alone. One of the vet techs was so attached to her that by the time we got there and had to say goodbye and put her down she was crying too. It was a hard thing to do and everyone was amazing. I cannot give this place enough stars.

Great staff, don t get me wrong, but appointments truly don t mean much at this office. Every, single, time we have come in WITH an appointment we wait at least 45 minutes after our appointment time regardless if we show up early. If it wasn t for Doctor Douglas we probably would have to change offices.

VCA is one of the best large-scale veterinary clin...

VCA is one of the best large-scale veterinary clinics/hospitals in central Atlanta. I switched here after going to the Humane Society for the longest time and I've never looked back. Humane Society is great, don't get me wrong, but it's always so busy that you have to make your appointment weeks in advance, and God forbid you have to reschedule you'll have to re-book it even farther into the future. At VCA, it seems like they always have a date and time that will work for you. Plus, they're 24/7, so if you have an emergency, you can bring your pet in and see them that day, and if you already take your pet there for regular check-ups, they'll have all the information they need on hand already.

In addition to the convenience, the staff here are exceptional. All of the vet techs are kind and helpful, and perhaps more importantly, they're very efficient. The computer system seems very up-to-date, so when you call they'll be able to pull up your file based on your phone number and use that to book your appointment, send you your pet's records, or whatever you need without unnecessary waiting times or relaying information you've already given them. The vets are just as good if not better. I feel like I've seen every one of them and I'm never disappointed. They're very understanding of your wants and needs as an owner, and they do a beautiful job balancing that with their knowledge of the wants and needs of your pet. They all keep up with the most recent news and practices of veterinary medicine and always provide the best information available in regards to your pet. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about the people that work here. They love your pets as much as you do, and it shows.

If you have a rescue (as I do), this is absolutely the place to go. Everyone there is extremely patient and understanding and they will do everything in their power to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible. If you have an especially frightened dog, I would recommend asking for an appointment with Jayme Douglas specifically. She has personal experience with rescue dogs and does a phenomenal job working out the best plan specific to you and your dog. I cannot recommend her enough. She's simply outstanding.

I tried VCA with a new rescue puppy but will likely be returning to my previous vet. Had puppy in for some follow up medication and got a call the next day letting me know he was due for his booster shots - let them know I was just in yesterday - apparently they did not check his medical record at the time of making the appointment or during his visit - never got a call or mail reminder about booster shots. Hoping it was a one time incident but it does not give me a lot of confidence in the level of care that they will provide long term.

Helped us save our kitten!

We rescued an abandoned kitten that was 1 week old. We brought it in and had it cared for and checked out for 2 days. He is now strong and healthy. The staff here is amazing and having a 24 hour service was just what we needed. Our kitty wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for these wonderful people.

I came in on Sunday because my pup was attacked at Piedmont park. I was a blubbering mess, couldn't stop crying, my dog was in pain and I was terrified. Not only did the staff make me feel extremely comforted despite being absolutely slammed, but the veterinarian was incredibly patient and kind. She took her time to explain to me what we would need to to get my girl healthy again. I have never experienced a situation where I needed an emergency vet, but if I am ever in this situation again, I will not hesitate to go back. They were incredibly kind, honest, professional and kept me up to date throughout the day to her progress.
Thank you so much for your compassion and services!

These guys are just wonderful. So kind. I brought my kitty in with an injured eye. I had never even been there before but the 24 hour place was necessary on a Saturday afternoon. They worked kitty in after a wait, and gave us a great plan for treatment and a followup visit. Very up-front about costs and outcomes. This will be our new vet. :-)

First of all, the reviews that the wait times are ...

First of all, the reviews that the wait times are LONG are true. There's no denying it. It's been a couple years since this incident, but I think I'm finally not so heartbroken that I can't type about it. I took my cat here for an emergency... came home to him laying prone and nonresponsive with vomit all around him... rushed him here... They took him back the second I walked in crying with him in my arms. I still am so thankful for that one moment. However, they came back a few minutes later to tell me his vitals were fine but wanted to keep him overnight to monitor ... I absolutely agreed he needed to stay. He was in pain and whimpering... and the night male vet, not tech, was flipping him all around while talking to me about possible diagnosis, until I took my cat from him to hold him still and not cause any more discomfort. THEN I got a patronizing speech from a female vet tech about it was going to be around $1500 (some outrageous amount I can't remember now) and that she had already brought me the paperwork to apply for their credit card! Wow. I didn't. Fast forward, I go to visit my cat the next morning and his stomach was completely distended and hard, and his eyes were murky and glossed over. How did they miss this??? I told them immediately this was not normal... a different female vet tech looked at me all dumbfounded... then he peed on my lap, which again, is extremely not normal. He was falling apart so fast and they just had him in a cage hooked up to an IV! ANOTHER DAY PASSED before they got "results" from me having to TELL THEM to check his stomach and take action .. .I can't remember why it took a whole entire day... They advised surgery but wanted me to pay some outrageous amount upfront, even though it was emergent?... so I had to rush to a freaking ATM and bring them like another $1500 in cash... He went into surgery... died in surgery... The female vet and female tech who did the surgery were visibly shaken by his loss and I could tell they really did care about pets and their job. My issue is not at all with them or their care. They let me into the back room to see him and say goodbye. I was an absolute wreck and the two ladies (vet & tech) were being very kind to me. But before I left, reception asked for another $$$$$ payment. Imagine that... just losing your best friend and someone is like oh hey, pay me again. That total included his post-surgery care, which he clearly never survived to see. I asked about it MULTIPLE TIMES after that and they kept telling me the amount was correct, even though I had the original statement showing otherwise. I think they ended up giving me like $200 back for meds he didn't take because he died before he could ... AND... The male receptionist made a comment about how I "had an expensive baby!" Disgusting.

The only reason I give 3 stars is because there are 2 female vets and 1 female vet tech who TRULY CARE about the well-being of the pets. They were so caring and I am forever grateful for their care.
I want to also include that I ended up bringing my female cat back here because we moved out of the country and they had a vet certified to sign her travel certifications. That female vet was absolutely wonderful! I would go back to this place JUST because of her.
Otherwise, even though this place does have a few staff members that truly care, the business itself is just absolutely money-hungry.

PLEASE DO NOT go to this clinic. Not even in an emergency!!
They do not care anything about the animals - it is all about the money
I recently took my dog there after a tragic accident and watched him suffer until the very end - they did nothing to comfort him or make him feel better..all they were interested in was selling the most expensive service to us even if it wasn't the right thing for the animal. didn't even care that he was in pain and suffering..
and to top it off they were extremely rude and insensitive.
I have never been so disgusted by a business in my 40 years! These are not people who are in the business for the love of animals that's fir sure!

For the sake of your mental state and the well being of your pet PLEASE find another place

I have found the staff, tech's and Dr. Masterson to be awesome. She is always concerned about the expenses and always gives me options and recommendations on what to do. I had an emergency injury to my Dachshund's back. I usually go to my vet located 20 mins away but they are closed on Sunday. I went to the midtown VCA and was blown away. They had a vet come to the lobby immediately and asses my dog and gave recommendations without being pushy. After they gave my dog some pain meds, they took us to a room and the vet was amazing. She even gave us a hug when we left. I am now using them as my primary vet. Also, they just a had a remodel and the space is beautiful. I would highly recommend.

I would first like to state - every single staff member I have encountered has been amazing. With that being said, I agree 100% with the review below. I scheduled my dog for his first round of injections for heart-worm treatment. When I logged onto the VCA portal a couple of days before, I noticed they had me scheduled for another appointment (I do not remember scheduling this appointment and had heard nothing from this appointment from them). When I called, they let me know my dog needed boosters for his vaccines from October 4th. They told me I could schedule him to have the booster and heart-worm injection done on the same day. Well today I logged back on to the portal and noticed his vaccine boosters were still marked overdue. When I called them, they told me they couldn't do the boosters on the same day. I was not informed that they had not done the boosters by anyone, not the vet who called me to say the procedure went well or the tech who released him to me. The booster shots are time sensitive. I would not have known he even still needed those if I had not logged on myself to check his records! It is extremely concerning because I am traveling for the holidays and he will be boarding at a place in the same city I will be in for the holidays, but I will need these records. Luckily I checked online to get ahead of the game. The staff is very friendly and seems to love animals, but it is not okay to not let people know you didn't perform boosters that are time sensitive. It is actually really concerning by the lack of detail and communication. If I had caught this a week later, he would not have been eligible for the boosters. If you are going to go here, I would double & triple check they ran the correct test and did everything they said they were going to do. Pretty disappointed because I thought we had found our place.

Everyone at VCA Pets are People Too is so friendly. The staff at the front desk always greets you with a warm welcome and the vet techs do as well. I've seen several vets there and they've all been great, but I'll have to say that I've had the most contact with Dr. Brad Phillips, who is the Medical Director there. He is so kind and definitely knows his stuff about vet medicine. He has a way of making you feel better and calm when you are worried about your pet. I've taken both my cat and kitten there this year and I will continue to do so. Dr. Phillips is always composed and professional and goes the extra mile to make sure your pets have the best care possible. He definitely goes over and beyond the call of duty and I will always trust his advice. I really appreciate his hard work. He's a great vet and I recommend that you take your pets there. Thank you Dr. Phillips and everyone else there for taking such good care of Milo and Benji. You all rock!

We've taken our dog there three times now for a nose bleed. Blood Work, tests, and an $800 vet bill later, they have provided no solutions. Not even that, but it seems that the female doctor who treated her had no clue about anything. We asked her about a fungal infection, and she proceeded to tell us it was rare and that there was only one way to diagnose it. Even though the first internet search I pulled up- FROM THEIR WEBSITE- Said that German shepherds were more likely to have nasal infections because of their long snout and that there were 4 ways to diagnose it. Incredibly disappointed with their lack of knowledge and steep high prices. Save your money, save your pets, and take them somewhere else.

We absolutely love this vet. The 24 hour care is great, especially when our dog gets into something he shouldn't or knowing it's there just in case. Plus we can always call with questions before deciding whether to bring him in.

The care club has been essential to raising our puppy and covers so many costs in an affordable way. Plus we've had multiple experiences where they will end up discussing our bill veering what we expected.

Lastly we've never had a bad experience and we, as first time pet owners, bring him in a lot. This place is amazing.

I started bringing my terrier mix to VCA after a terrible experience at a different vet in Atlanta. Shelby had some challenging health issues which, to this day, still weren't quite accounted for.

The vets and techs were always helpful and kind. Dr. Washington even took the time to call off hours to check on Shelby when needed, and was thoughtful enough to speak to other specialists while she was attending a conference to see if she could figure out a better diagnosis.

Unfortunately, Shelby had to be put down in April, and the care and compassion I received during that time were outstanding. There was one snafu with being notified when Shelby's remains were available to be picked up from the office, but they are quite busy, so get a pass.

I also used VCA Pet Care Plan, which was incredibly helpful with Shelby's medical care - and highly recommend if you have pets!

Picked up my cat from boarding and she was covered in urine and feces. I paid for a bath and nail trim and they did not do it, and when I asked them to wash her off they told me they couldn t do it. So I received my cat back covered in urine and feces and then had to put her in my car. Have come here for years and never experienced anything like this. I will never come back to this vet again and I highly recommend you don t either.

I found a stray kitten that looked pretty awful. It was 11pm on a Saturday night so I rushed it to VCA immediately. They told me it was fine, there was nothing life threatening and it was a girl. Just looking at this kitten i knew something was very wrong so the next day i took it to a different vet. The 2nd Vet couldnt believe what VCA said. The kitten had a fever of 103, a severe respiratory infection and a lot of worms. AND it is a boy. Being about six weeks old, this kittens testicles had descended and the new vet could not believe VCA couldn't even sex the kitten correctly. My theory is they took it to the back for a minute, didnt want to deal with it and gave him back telling me it was fine and didnt even take him out of the crate.

This company has lost my business after several years of using them. If you read the reviews you will see an underlying trend of expensive and unnecessary tests. I also fell victim to this in a time of need when my dog had been attacked by another dog. The results of the test came back after my dog had heald and was no longer sick. So was the test necessary? You be the judge. After consulting with a vet at another hospital I was assured that the test was completely unnecessary for my particular situation. I suggest anyone in need of a vet to use WellPet Humain, they have 4.1 stars on Google with over 200 reviews. While VCA pets are people too sits at 3.3, there are way too many 1 star reviews for you to spend your hard earned money here. Also, don't waste your time attempting to talk with Mary Ann, she is of no help.

Our dog had been super lethargic and developed a bad cough over the weekend- called Pets Are People Too early sunday morning and made an appointment- It was not "emergency hours" so we have not had experience with that but the service we received was excellent. The vets aid informed us that since it was our first visit, by showing her the coupon on the website we got our first exam free which saved us $55. The Vet, Dr. Natalia Gracia was AMAZING- very thoughtful and helpful- comforted us greatly and made us feel like she had been out vet for years. Highly recommended!

Please avoid this location. I honestly rarely write reviews; however, I need to express my disappointment in the hopes of helping others that are trying to protect their pets. The following is a list of concerns that I had with my past three visits:
- They do not know my cat s gender
- They did not disclose the standard results of the vitals examination until further pressed and asked (e.g., temperature, weight, etc.)
- They reported that my cat s temperature was normal, while suggesting FIP. A common symptom of FIP is a fever, and when asked, they said they did not perform a rectal temperature test. They then performed the rectal test, and it turns out to be 4 degrees higher. The result went from normal to high fever (101 to 105 degrees). Yes, the ear test is less precise, but this level of discrepancy would have left me without a clue of a possible fever.
- They did not address how to administer the medication received
- They did not review blood work that was conducted at another facility and provided as supplemental information to help assess my pet s condition
- They forgot to provide me with my prescription
- Their follow-up exam pricing fluctuates each visit without an explanation
- Was told to purchase medication directly from them due to limited national supply. The CVS next to my house had the medication in stock for at least half the price

I understand this is a 24 hour emergency facility. The premium prices your customers pay reflect these services. Yes your facility may be busy, and yes there s a lot going on but the level of unprofessionalism is shocking. I honestly feel that the focus is to up sell on opportunities, and these opportunities are at the cost of your pets, which I consider family.

I will find a vet that takes the time to get to know my pet, understand my pet, and ensure that their sole focus and goal is to help my pet be healthy and thereby happy. When this is provided, I wouldn t care to pay whatever the price may be.

Case in point, I have yet to see great reviews regarding cats that have been taken here.

Staff are very nice and friendly, but very, very upset about the scheduling process! Had a 10:30 am appointment for a simple checkup. After sitting in a small windowless room with a restless and extremely bored dog for two hours a tech came in and politely apologized for the wait. Then asked some simple questions that I think could have been asked at check in. After another 30 min and still in a silent room we left. Why do you even make appointments if you can't see them for 2 1/2 hours I didn't appreciate wasting on my day off. I appreciate your friendly staff but I will NOT be back.

I came here because Furkids recommended it. The initial checkup was awesome! Now, about a year later, my cat has displayed worrisome symptoms of a larger problem. I was unable to make an appointment for a month, meaning I had to come for walk-ins two separate times. The vet tested for what I was worried about (and had had a previous cat pass away from) and told me the results were normal. Two weeks later I bring my cat back in and they inform me that the results actually weren t normal, gave her an injection and sent me home. Two days after that and I m currently at a different vet who said my cat needs emergency care, is critically ill, and could crash at any moment. VCA charges premium prices and still left me and my cat out to dry. Don t waste your time or money on negligence.
UPDATE: my cat passed away. I don t think we would have been able to treat her issues, but professional vets should have been able to notice her condition. Especially given that I brought her in twice in the two weeks leading up to her death. Both times they didn t take her health seriously.

As an emergency hospital the prices are not cheap. However they were flexible with letting me know what procedures were most vital so I could get my baby boy cared for without spending unnecessary money. They did not charge a second exam fee when I needed to return the next day. Everyone was so understandable as I was an emotional wreck and after two visits in the past few days my kitty is feeling much better and starting to get back to his normal self! Thank you so much VCA.

This vet is full of incredible and knowledgeable staff that really treat you and your pets like human beings, and I couldn t have asked for a better place for my dog to have spent the final weeks of her life. They did everything they could for my senior dog and went above and beyond. Dr. Davis, Dr. Mehan, Dr. Douglas and Dr. Scott are among the best people I ve ever met. I will be going here forever and recommend this place to everyone with pets!!!

Dr. Brad Phillips is an excellent Vet. I have been bringing my dogs to him for years and he has always treated them as if they were my children. He is kind and gentle with them and goes the extra step to explain everything to me. Gary at the front has been there for years and has always been polite and helpful. I have brought my dogs here for regular checkup and for emergencies and I feel they are in great hands. I highly recommend Dr. Phillips and his team.

I've been meaning to write this review for some ti...

I've been meaning to write this review for some time now, because it's very much deserved. At the beginning of this year I had to say goodbye to my sweet girl, Aoewa. Everything happened very suddenly, with her previous vet missing crucial blood work results, our time was limited once she was showing signs of distress. She was diagnosed with cancer, and only 5 days later she had a life altering seizure. We immediately took her and were a walk-in at VCA Pet Hospital. We were put into a room almost immediately. The doctor, who I can not remember her name, was blonde and middle-aged. She was very communicative and answered all of my questions, even the hard ones with clear answers and options. Even with this tough situation and a lack of a previously built relationship, the doctor was still very kind and comforting to me. Aoewa was given less than 48 hours and was at high risk of organ failure. We took her home that day to say our goodbyes and returned to VCA the next day to have Aoewa put down. The previous doctor was not working that day, so we were given another doctor who also showed immense compassion and respect to us (short haired blonde, younger). After the procedure, they let me take as much time as I needed to say goodbye. With no previous experience of having a pet cremated, VCA has a partnership with Paws, Whiskers & Wags - Your Pet Crematory and they handled everything from there. I was taken really good care of from the crematory as well and was able to have Aoewa back within the week. Although our ending together was very abrupt and extremely sad, I'm very thankful for all of the professionals who made our ending less stressful. They even sent me cards (both - VCA and the crematory) after Aoewa's passing. Thank you to everyone at this office, I hope you know the differences you're making. I highly recommend! <3

Unfortunately there's no option to give zero stars...

Unfortunately there's no option to give zero stars.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
I should have known when the doctor constantly referred to my female dog as a "he." Aside from the fact that their pricing is completely arbitrary and changes every time you visit and based on the person checking you out, this place may KILL your pet with negligence. One of the vet techs at this place put my elderly pug in a diabetic coma after she gave an insulin overdose, and subsequently hospitalized for a week thereafter. One would think if the dog is hospitalized due to your own employee's negligence, they wouldn't charge for services connected to your employee's negligence. Not true with this place; they covered only a portion of the costs for my dog to remain in treatment. And when I visited my dog in treatment, she was laying in her own urine. The vet tech may have been disciplined (who knows), but she kept her job. Imagine how it felt to see the person who almost killed your pet still working at the place in the same position when your dog is still suffering the after-affects of that employee's negligence. And just like their prices, your proposed treatment plan will also differ from doctor to doctor. One doctor might recommend dental work and the next will strongly advise against it. That's not just differing opinions between different people, that's a complete opposite recommendation. Imagine your own doctor recommending heart surgery and the next doctor advising against it. Some places might have doctor's with not-so-great bedside manner, which I can deal with. This place though, has problems beyond repair. FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE. Atlanta has many vets, don't settle for sub par, negligent care. Picture below is what your dog will look like as she suffers from VCA's negligence.

I would not recommend this facility. Although the people are very friendly (I feel almost bad leaving this review), they seem to be so overwhelmed that they missed things that would have put my puppy in harms way had I not asked questions. I was shocked and extremely concerned about the lack of knowing his history / checking what's in their system when I started to ask questions.
They had no idea what they did to my puppy just 6 days earlier (I took him on a Sunday and followed up on Saturday), and they almost vaccinated him twice for the same thing which would have made him really sick. They hadn't even looked at his history, which was outlined in detail in their system and on my last receipt. They also told me to come back for a vaccine in one week, and then the next vet said he didn't need it for another 3 weeks... I have no idea what's accurate and am moving my puppy to a facility that will spend the 2-3 minutes it takes to read his history and make sure they are providing the best care, not the fastest care.
Again, very friendly staff and very well-intentioned - they love animals! But overwhelmed. I will never bring my pet here again.

Really what is on offer here is a poor customer service experience, including the annoying up-sell on non-essentials, at a very high cost. Pricing is absolutely ridiculous. Go elsewhere for your veterinary needs. I was quoted $192.85 for basic vaccinations & an exam. All quoted with a nice side of attitude. I decided to look elsewhere and I procured the vaccinations I needed and then some other services at a rate of $89.00. Wow, that ridiculous quote was over 217% more than what I paid. And I got a much better customer service experience. No attitude, a short wait time, more veterinary services and yeah more money in my pocket. Until this practice can differentiate itself from all the other veterinary practices in this city... I am going somewhere else. Why would anyone pay more for so little?

Avoid! All this company cares about is money at the expense of your pet! I was given an estimate to repair a cut on my dog's paw for over $1500. It was a simple cut, yet they tell me it requires surgery! When I tell them I am taking my beloved elsewhere to confirm this, they belittle me as I am crying & tell me I am cruel not to leave him with them over night! I take him to WellPet Humane. There they wash him, clip hair from wound, bandage him, give two different medications, & include an e-collar for just under $100 including the exam which is $100 *LESS* than VCA charged me solely to hand me an estimate of $1500+! At WellPet they inform me putting him through surgery would not only needlessly ENDANGER HIS LIFE but any sutures would immediately come undone! If they feel you have the money to spend, they will do anything they can to convince you to hand it over.

Thank you VCA for showing me precisely how GREEDY you are. Enjoy taking advantage of people who will believe your lies while their pet suffers.

Dr. Douglas & Dr. Mehan are GEMS, I tell ya. I wish I was an animal so I could go to them for my primary care. Dr. Douglas will give it to ya straight (in the most charming way) so you know exactly what needs to be done to keep your pet living a long and healthy life - while going ABOVE & BEYOND to provide the most comprehensive care and service. She might be a real life angel. I wish I could see her every day. Dr. Mehan will knock ya on your feet with her kind demeanor and intense understanding of your pet and their needs. It's like she can read their minds. Try not to look directly into her baby blue eyes or you'll never leave and she really needs you to leave so she can move on to providing the best care to her other patients.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! I have 2 dogs When I initially started coming to vca over a year ago it was due to my dog Zee having an infection and needing emergency surgery $1600 Dr. Moral performed the surgery saved her life .. now they said she needs dental surgery $1000 the months after that it started to be one thing after another and nothing was under $200. I ADORE MY DOGS so I paid every bill with no issue next they said my other dog Porsha tested for heart worms again a process of $1100 or more that I paid out of love for my dogs. I started having issues of my bills being wrong from double charges that they thought I wouldn t see as well as dropping off my dog for a bath and nail trim and coming back no the service not complete and still having a bill. Mary Ann tried to resolve these wrongful charge issues I did appreciate however that is minor to the bigger issue at hand. I am CURRENTLY IN THE LOBBY i work long hours and dropped Porsha off for a bath and nail trim to give the place 1 FINAL TIME I got here after 12:30am a male tech opened the door and said someone would be with me next a female tech walks out does not tell me her name and only says I can t pick my dog up until 7am because it s between 7 and 12am I told her my work schedule would not permit she said it s nothing she can do or I can pay 116 for emergency and with that she doesn t know when she will get to my dog to release her. Another couple just left with their dog she brought the dog did their paperwork and had time to crack a joke while not even acknowledging that I AM STILL HERE. I shouldn t fear the treatment of my dog while in vet care and that s where it is! ALL IN ALL DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE I FEEL LIKE SHE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME AND MONEY IS THE ONLY OBJECTIVE NOT THE WELL BEING OF YOUR ANIMAL!

I am ashamed at myself for not reading all these reviews before we took our dogs for their yearly check up. This place was recommended by my sister.

So we had a 5:30 scheduled appointment. We arrived at 5:25 and already had their records transferred from our our previous vet. We were put in a windowless waiting room at 6:00. Did not see a vet until 6:45 and finally paid at 7:30. I understand things get busy, but what is the point of scheduling an appointment if you are going to be there for two hours anyways. I can t remember the exact numbers from our last vet on their yearly check up, but I can assure you that it was half of we paid for this visit.

The wait was not event the worse part. After our visit Our 12 pound dachshund is a completely different dog. She seems to be in pain every time she is touched and has lost her appetite. We waited three days assuming she was just sore from shots, but I firmly believe something happened to her while she was taken from us to get her shots.

It is unfortunate that we will not go back even though it is a mile from our house. It is worth the hour and 15 minute drive back to our original vet near Athens. If anyone needs a suggestion on an incredible vet and do not mind a little extra drive please check out Winterville Veterinarian.

I love the staff at VCA, pets are people too. We have been bringing our dog Chloe and Cat Claire here for 4 years! At first the vets were amazing. They were on the expensive side but were always attentive and fixed any and all issues our babies were having.

We have seen a sharp decline in quality of service over the past year with ever increasing bills. In the past 7 months we have spent $4550 and they have yet to determine what is wrong with Chloe. Every visit is easily $250 with a 3 visits reaching $900.

They always want to do more and more tests that always come back inconclusive and "will call us back" when they have a clue as to whats wrong which they never actually do. We usually have to call one or two times to get a vet to tell us what the results were.

In general, they offer extremely poor service for the amount of money you pay. They are all extremely polite and friendly which is why we kept on coming back but I can no longer justify the insane cost...

Needless to say we are looking for a different vet.

We took our Dog to VCA Pets Are People too Veterinary this morning, she was having a seizure due to eclampsia. We honestly to her here because it was the closest and only Emergency Vet near by that was open. They took her in and did exams to her. The Dr told us she need to stay from 12 to 24 hrs for supervision. At the time she was in critical condition. The cost for 12hrs was $1700. With a deposit of $1400 :/
We applied for a carecredit but were declined, it took them less than 15 minutes to tells us to leave to another clinic while our dog was according to the doctor in critical condition.
All because, i quote " its too expensive for you" , it saddens me they returned our dog back to us in the same condition we brought her in. They happily charged us $575. We stayed there from 6:15am to 8:30am. IRONICALLY THIS PLACE'S MOTTO IS "PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO".

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS PLACE.

We've been bringing our dog here since he was a puppy. Very friendly staff, the Vets and Techs are all stellar... HOWEVER, please know that if you're coming to see a vet/tech, you're going to wait AT LEAST 45-minutes to see someone, even if you have an appointment.

This has been my experience EVERY. SINGLE. TIME that I come here.

I'm super disappointed each time and every time I throw them a grace card, BUT... I think I might have to start going elsewhere. Sorry, VCA, but you've been consistently undependable enough times that it's pushing me away.

I waited for 4 hours as "technicians" came in and out of the room to negotiate my bill. Our cat was there for vaccination and to see why he has lost some hair as he is a long haired cat. I had to request a vet to come check on him. As I was talking to the vet a "technician" was shoving papers in my face to sign up for some month to month payment of $78.00. I worked at a vet clinic for several years and have never ever seen anything like I witnessed. They ran blood work etc and told me I would receive a call in a couple days. The fourth day I called and was told someone would call back. After waiting around with anxiety for the results, I drove up to the clinic and let them know I was there to speak with a vet. They looked like they saw a ghost. I was then told after waiting for 45 minutes that " because the test results came back normal I was put at the bottom of the pile because it wasn't life threatening so I should feel good about all that.." i asked if they had run several basic feline test aids and leukemia. They said they didn't test for it but could at an extra cost. Agree with many other post, they seem uneducated and care about money. I just called up to cancel my monthly payment and was told I had to pay 770.00. I have already paid near 400.00. I will go to court if I have to with this place, it's horrible. They don't care about your pet! I also say technicians in quotes because non of them ever touched my cat they took care of the sale. The "technicians" are nothing but vet assistants and sales reps.

In an emergency, this is the vet I'd have no choice but to go to, but otherwise I'd say avoid.

VCA Animal Hospital would have potentially blinded...

VCA Animal Hospital would have potentially blinded my dog Sillian had I not double checked the wrong medication they gave us!!!!!! I am so stressed and angry.

I took Sillian, my dog, to the VCA Animal Hospital Pets are People Too today 12/29/17 at 1:30pm, and we waited 2 hours. We left at 3:35pm. It took an hour to see the Dr. Natalia Gracia, and another to get the Fluorescein eye stain test and blood serum done. We were told before Sillian was taken back to get the stain test that she has a corneal ulcer by Doctor Natalia Gracia. I was then told by the vet tech when we were going over the payment plan that the ointment Sillian is getting will not have steroids in it, because steroids would hinder the healing process and make the ulcer worse. It also literally says that on the VCA Animal Hospital website not to use steroids when treating ulcers that they hinder the healing process and could lead to serious complications. Well not knowing the cream was in fact a steroidal cream, I get home and administer the medication.

Shortly afterwards I start reading the pamphlet inside the box the medicine came in, and it says it contains corticosteroids I peel the prescription label off the box of the medication and see in the name of the medicine the word Hydrocortisone -thank god I know from experience that that means steroid (too bad people who actually work at a vet clinic apparently can not make that simple distinction). I call the vet hoping that they just forgot to tell us that they didn t find an ulcer with the stain test and did indeed give us the correct medication. NOPE! I talk to another veterinarian on duty after hours, and he pulls up her papers and sees that she does have an ulcer and says she should not be getting steroids. I told him I was going to immediately come back to get the correct medication. He seemed shell shocked. I asked, Is she ok though? I put the steroid cream in her eye earlier. He says that it shouldn t set her back too much .doesn t tell me to bring her back in to flush out her eye or anything. CLEARLY this is unsettling.

I brought Sillian back with me to the office, and when I get there the front desk receptionists Colin barely opens the door to hand me the new meds and says, No charge. LOL ..uh yeah bro no we are coming in and the vet is going to make sure my dog is ok and CLEARLY it will be no charge!!! You guys screwed up the meds!!!!! YEAH NO CHARGE! We asked for the veterinarian that I talked to on the phone and the front desk receptionist Colin literally told me he didn t know where the doctor was lolol WHAT?! Clearly he was trying to just shoo me away and not have to deal, but your office just gave my dog harmful meds so sorry man you're going to have to man up and not lie about not knowing where people are in your building and go get me the veterinarian I JUST talked to on the phone to make sure my dog's eye is ok!!!! I didn't say any of that I just stayed there with my eyes wide with disbelief that someone was that insensitive. He said, "I could get you a vet tech though," and we said no we will wait on the veterinarian.

So Colin's apparently illusive and unfindable veterinarian, Dr. Ollie Neil comes from the back and tells us to go back to a room with him and says that he is sorry and embarrassed by what happened and that a manager will be notified tomorrow about what happened (We'll see). He washed her eye out with a saline solution to wash out the steroid cream. He actually explained to us the treatment process and that it takes 6 weeks to treat and that he likes to check up on the dogs about once a week to see if its progressing smoothly. The vet Natalia Gracia we had before said nothing about a follow up and nothing about a heal time of 6 weeks!!!!!

What we are hoping will happen is I get a refund for the visit today and won t have to pay for follow up check ups with her eye. I am so upset. They could have made her worse and she could ve had to have surgery or even worse lost her sight. I'll see tomorrow if the manager's treatment of this malpractice gets any better.

Wonderful experience with these people. My kitty was constipated and I decided I couldn't wait for his appointment with his regular vet. Found this place - so thankful they are always open. The price was very reasonable (same price as my regular vet) which is awesome because usually the overnight charge is outrageous at other places. They also let me spearhead the treatment so that he was taken care of and treatment stayed within my financial ability. (Always thankful when people don't run the bill up!) All the staff were extremely nice. Amazing experience and highly recommend! My kitty says thank you too!

I dislike leaving negative reviews, but they said the Office Manager would give me a call and they didn't, so here we are.

I've been using the VCA in Ansley Square for about 4 years. The staff are all super nice and you can tell they all really care about animals. My issue is how it's run.

I had an appointment on Wednesday, checked in at my appointment time, then had to wait 30 minutes for one of their "runners" to come get my dog. Then after I spoke with the vet, and after all services were provided, I had to wait another 30 minutes to pay, and then another 15 minutes after that to get my dog back so I could leave. In the last 2 visits I paid $400, so there is no excuse for them not to hire another runner.

This was my second time bringing in my dog that week and I was charged an exam fee each time (average of $64 per exam). Usually if you have to come back 2 days later for the same issue, you'd expect to not have to pay the exam fee a second time. But this is not a clinic that has several Full-Time vets on staff, it's a bunch of contractor vets (I've never seen the same one twice), and understandably they want to be paid for their time.

It's just not worth the cost anymore.

If you bring your dog here, it will be cared for -- just be surprised if you can make it through a visit for less than $200.

I brought my cat in for a 3:30 appointment sat in the windowless room for about hour before the vet came in & examined my cat though she was nice I feel that this place has the worst scheduling of any vet clinic ever it took close to 3 hours before I was out of there granted they had to draw blood but 3 hours is unacceptable this place reminds of a fast food joint looking for a quick turn over, what is even worse is no one seems to care about your time they don't even apologize for the inconvenience this is enough for me to take my business else where I spent over $500.00.
