Do not risk receiving payments to TransferWise. We're a small business and they rejected a large payment which was vital for our cash flow. It's had a number of knock on effects at our end which of course TransferWise do not understand at all. They will reject payments randomly so if you need to receive payments quickly and without delay do not use TransferWise, it is far too much of a gamble, we are switching to receiving payments to our bank going forward.

I've been using transferwise for over two years now and i'm extremely happy with their service; hence, I thought it was about time I leave a comment here.

Fees are extremely low compared to when I pay with my bank and because of that I decided to get the borderless account (free mastercard - no monthly charges applied to use it). Since I travel a lot and have family abroad this is the best and cheapest method I have found in the market so far!

I've always used their platform online and never had any issues so far which I'm happy about. If you send money early in the morning and prior to the weekend, you can be sure the recipient will get the money on their account the same day :)

Hello, good morning, I have not found a way to contact you, you are causing me a number of problems and in times of pandemic for me and my family nucleus, I am in the UK that I move with my family this weekend From Spain to here, understand husband and minor daughters and I am waiting for a transfer of money that a friend owed me, he decided to send it to me from his company that operates in Miami United States and transferwise due to the fact that his company name says In part of its commercial name Venezuela they have decided to stop the transaction and that for security reasons and they asked me questions as if I were one of the criminals who operate or govern that country. Gentlemen, it is 2900 dollars and there is a traceability, I answered an email that they sent me and I have sent them several emails raising my situation and several calls and they do not tell me anything, only that the case has another department, which department do I ask? I am stranded in a country that I have just emigrated with no money or anything.

Case 2. Not only did they stop me the money from case 1 that I urgently need since I moved from Spain to the UK for work and family issues, I made a transfer with my money that was in transferwise that I spent there from the company where he worked in Spain, that is, traceability is known and the money was there. Well, it turns out that they have stopped the transfer and now the people who made the transfer pressure me and question me as if I did not have the money. And all because of your bad work, they do not give an answer and do not ask what they want to ask to clarify the problems. Be careful! This payment provider has frozen 7 business accounts in deal related. Now they have to complete another due diligence before funds releasing.

We have reported the situation to the Prosecutor and FCA. Please remember that Transferwise could have checks shortly and FCA could freeze the customer's accounts as for e-Payments

My advise is to contact FCA for more information.

This no British Company Funders started with a good intention and goal. Now their interest is just in the fees. Moreover the high percentage of the operator in Transferwise are from Est Europe.

Be be careful, it is a based British Company, no a real British Company. Indeed the European Iban is from Belgium.

Honestly,If there is a rating as bad as worse, then this company surely qualify for it.I wrote a review late last year October about Azimo and if I am honest, this company TransferWise Money Transfer is even worse off than Azimo to be honest. Azimo corrected their wrongs but this company's licence should be withdrawn because if it is withdrawn, it will make them sit up and stop messing up with people's money. The staffs are so unprofessional,grossly inefficient and lack appropriate standards to say the least. I hope the FCA and the regulators take up their case.I wish I had read up their reviews before using them. They are fraudulent, lack credibility and no sense of trust at all.

Joined today and made a transfer into my account abroad via Santander. Transferwise got me the best rate, infact it was the rate seen on google which no bank or forex companies offer. Within 20 minutes I recieved the money into my account abroad. I for sure will use these guys in the future and will reccomend whoever else that requires such services.

Lack of customer friendly processes kills it all.

This company froze my 3 accounts in April 2019, for no reason, they have not refunded my money and are refusing to communicate with me by email or phone. I attach one of the lies they sent on 24/5, they have had this info and in OCT 2019 they have not refunded my funds. there are many customers in the same boat.
I am taking them to the small claims court.
There is a growing number of people who have been ripped off by TransferWise and Monzo..just search the net and Facebook.

I have been using this Service from over 3 years and initial experience was Excellent...!
However, lately everything is going down the drain...! I believe TransferWise is getting Greedy Every Day...! The fee is automatically hiked after you start the cheap transfer and switch to a Debit Card Payment. The transfer process is blocked by extra checks with no explanation of what these checks are. In short, not a happy customer anymore...!

All staff I talked over the phone were rude, no knowledge about the system, more than helpless. Volunteers studying a little bit about it could do much better job. Even customer service in Japan was a mess that is super rare but it happens when the head company is located outside of Japan. My transaction did NOT make it on time. Why they did not send me even a single notification ?! Horrible customer service ever!!

Even though the process for the first attempt is super complicated with little help from poor customer service, once a transaction goes through, it is very quick though its a bit questionable if the commision is very cheap or not.

What a joke of a company. They send money as requested. The bank asked for more information. TransferWise decided that they couldn t give it and instead of informing me about the issue THEY request a refund and again didn t tell me. Resulting me still flying to turkey and not knowing till the day after that because of non payment my surgery was cancelled! And nobody is taken responsibility! 4400 down the drain.

Don t use TransferWise for anything small or big because their customer service reps are shocking and all they say is we understand sorry for the inconvenience

you are not sorry about the poor experience, calling you or emailing you is completley pointless, nobody I have ever spoken to has English as their first language. even when asking for someone to call back from England it doesn't happen.

the financial ombudsman asked to investigate the matter before they are allowed too and you refused. sending me a half arsed email. And blaming me for your mistakes, even though I have it on paper that you requested the money back without informing me.

Its now under investigation with the financial ombudsman - so no you don't care about your customers as if someone does a simple google search there have been far to many situations very similar to mine.

If you travel & need to change money on the go, this is simply the best service there is, because you get the best exchange rate...no bank or prepaid debit card for travel money compares with Transferwise.. I spent a great deal of time looking because I wanted another account that is similar, to increase the amount I could withdraw each day while visiting other countries, but I was surprised to discover, there is nothing else like it..You always get 3 or 4 cents more than anywhere else, when converting pounds to euros through Transferwise, and its exactly the same with all other currencies. Everyone that travels needs the app & card from them. After using them for a while you will realise how much you were losing without them..I see other people have not had such a great experience, but it seems the problems are mostly related to large transfers to other countries & other people, which could perhaps appear to be illegal, & thus attract the wrong kind of attention and most of the problems seem to be related to business accounts. I only have a personal account which is used to receive some payments, but mostly to change money when I travel, make online purchases or at retail outlets. During the 3 years I've been using Transferwise I've had no issues, nor heard of any from friends that use it too.

I have already sent a mail twice to support to provide me with clarification on what is wrong with the documents supplied, while two other money transfer services have accepted the same documents and processed my payments. World First and Currencies Direct, they are both FCA regulated too and they all follow the regulations.

Appalling! No matter if you are a long time customer, their verification methods are a joke! They've been holding a transfer for over 3 days after taking my money, because they can't read the passport in the selfie they request as verification. If your doc is small or laminated, you don't stand a chance to be verified. My mortgage payment is at risk of default because Transferwise is holding my money, which is an illegal practice. I requested cancellation of the transfer and they said it is going to take 2 days to get it back. Which makes it a week without being able to access my own money. DO NOT USE TRANSFERWISE. Their customer service is appalling, treating long time customers as potential criminals, after they've been profiting from my money for years. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Do not use this lot for anything you actually need to get there. They mislead you on the timeframe. You speak to someone different each time you call. No sense of urgency. No updates on delayed payments. Just shocking. They are cheap but believe me, for anything important pay the money and use a bank.

As great as the service seems and Initially it will seem fantastic the app is nice and the site is pleasing but once you start using the service as a daily replacement to your bank it will let you down. The main problem is there is limits set on how much you can spend of YOUR MONEY so buy a few things online it will start blocking payments - there s an option to increase the limit but this seems a beta function as it doesn t work. If you plan to spend your own money without a worry you ll have to face a decline when you need your money most stay clear of this service. I was a huge fan initially as the signup process and app is nice and removes the need to spend hours on the phone to a sales agent but start using it often and you ll be left disappointed.

I opened up an account with TransferWise. Both business and personal account and I requested a business transaction to be paid into my business account with them. After receiving payment. I decide to split the money between my business and personal account. In which TransferWise decide to block both my account and holding on to my fund without any reason. I was told I would have to wait 60 working days for my fund to be paid. I have now wait 60 days and yet no news from TransferWise about my funds. Firstly to hold on to my fund without any reason should be illegal and am pretty sure TransferWise are using my funds for financial gain. This is a poor service provided and will discourage anyone and everyone from opening an account with them as they are a poor financial service provider.

Sent 2 business transfers today and both of them were put on hold due to some checks that Transfer Wise is running randomly. In order to have those transfers released immediately I contacted Support Desk using their Support Line and it took almost 25 shocking minutes to get through. There is no way to accelerate the release of the transfers which will be processed in 2 days. This is not business supporting at all as it is randomly limiting access to finances and Transfer Wise Support have absolutely no clue what those checks are. So they simply put your money on hold for two days without taking into account your circumstances. With this model in place, planning any kind of business activities using Transfer Wise Business Account is like playing Russian Roulette. You never know when your business gets affected thanks to Transfer Wise.

Transferwise was great and easy to use initially. Now I am having all sorts of issues. My debit card does not work properly to put money in my borderless account anymore, I have confirmed with my bank that my card has no restrictions on it so there should not be any issues. Another issue is I made a ACH transfer for 1000 USD and cancelled it due to the transfer being more than a week long. So I follow up and initiated a wire transfer since i have bills to pay in the UK. Long story short they pulled 2000 USD, only 1000 USD went into my borderless account the other 1000 USD stayed floating who knows where, initially i figured it was a mistake and called to have them fix the issue and refund the 1000USD back to my bank. Problem solved, you would think! I check my borderless account this morning I'm sitting in a negative balance. They refunded the 1000 USD to my main bank account and used the amount I had in my borderless account which made it negative. So I still have 1000 dollars sitting somewhere other than any of my accounts! I'm not for these dodgy games, and if this issue isn't fixed tomorrow. I'm raising hell!

Worst ever service i had, do not ever send money through them, instead go to any other such services provider, i made a transfer to one of my friend in Pakistan, and once the payment gone through from my account, they send me an email that the transfer is processed, i made the payment with a fast and easy method of payment so that my recipient will get that money in 24 hours as per their (so called ) promise and advertisement, they mention in the email that my recipient will get this money on the following day, but after waiting 4 days, i inquired them about the progress of my account, and they simply deactivated my account and had not bothered even to give a proper reply, i tried to seek help from their help desk, but i failed to get any help from them, my transfer number was "43998490", after several failed attempts i get in touch with one of their representative Sandra through their live chat, and she did the same no proper and logical answer by her.
if you want to get yourself down and want to have a lot of hassle, then you can use their service as they enjoy playing with peoples money, i don't know how this body is registered in UK, i have already decided to launch a complain against them to the Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011, and will make sure that you guys will no longer be able to do, what you have done with me.

Passport, driving licence, original bank / credit card statement from online banking and a scan of CRA tax letter. I have used two other providers for money transfer, with my passport and driving licence, no issues at all. For a little rate difference, please don t waste your time. Use other services that are available.

Never send USD! I sent USD12000 to my TW (Transferwise) USD account, although paid for all sender bank charges, the amount received was USD11900. Transferwise s USD bank account (it is originally a Barclays account, TW is not a bank) deduced USD100. USD100 was disappeared. It took 10 days to receive the transfer USD11900 (it has to be USD12000 normally). I do not recommend the TW for USD transfers.

After I used transferred to transfer $2000 USD and it never arrived Transferwise have been useless at providing assistance in finding where the money has gone and puts all responsibly on the recipient to try and find it.

Update:
My issue was resolved and the money eventually found although it took a couple of months. The delay was caused by 2 factors.1 - when the recipient was given the SWIFT payment information their bank did not properly trace the deposit. 2 - Transferwise provided little help with going through their channels to contact the receiving bank. They just said they had tried through their channel but the bank did not respond. Transferwise needs a better way to get in contact with banks that they send money too. Its not good enough to say we sent them a msg but they didnt get back to us. Its hard to believe thats the best that SWIFT or our international finance system offers.

Worst service. Don't use this Transferwise for money transfer to India. It has been 3 days and still money not received in my Indian account. When I contacted customer service, they mentioned silly reason saying they have received pounds from my UK bank with name as my first name as single letter and asked my bank statement. I have provided the bank statement proof and still money not received in my Indian bank account.

Overall a positive experience. I did get the exact amount in a timely manner, and for a fair and competitive fee.
On the other hand, I had to send sensitive data (iban, passport and more) in order to find out that they don't have a bank account in my country, which makes the service less valuable (unless you manage to get a Euro credit card). They did have a bank account at the destination country at the main branch of the receiving bank, and I did end up using Transferwise, which might saved around $10 in intermediary bank fees. If they had a bank account in my country, I would be able to save over $50 (Actually, when I come to think of it, I don't remember ever been asked what bank the money would be sent from). (edited)

We open our account months ago, everything was going fine, one week ago we tried to login and our account was deactivated.
After contacting support they said us that account was deactivated (without explaining nothing) so they needed our other
bank account on same business name to send funds back. We provided it. Than they replied again that for some checks which
will take 90 working days they cannot send funds. We contact they again also via call phone, they do not give any reason
for deactivating account or for checks that they will do. Also they block funds of our company without any reason.
