Ive been coming to this hotel since it opened some 15 or more years ago, and its now time that it should close. at the very least for a gut renovation. The photos which show the air conditioning unit in my last room just a week ago could easily be swapped out for any room during my last several stays. Bottom line is this place is disgusting and a health hazard.
Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else....

Very helpful staff, friendly the reception and concierge, organised our cab return to airport, good breakfast, it's limited but perfect for a start for the day ahead, rooms were clean, warm with a powerful hot shower, TV and a mini kitchen, room safe is always handy too, bed was very comfortable which is not always the case in even high end hotels, I liked the feel of the place, plus complementary drinks some evenings and we had a great evening drinking and playing cards on last night, sounds boring but after 5 full days it was nice to hang out in the main area chilling on comfortable sofas

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have free breakfast, which is always nice, and watched our bags before our room was ready. Definitely a nice place to stay.

The location wasn't great (times square and next to a parole office) but it was very convenient for tourist stuff. The room was pretty large and had everything one might need plus more. The staff was very accommodating. It wasn't a very sustainable location however, didn't even have the option of reusing towels.

I'm truly confused by the number of good reviews on this hotel. The single good feature of this hotel is the staff. Let me list out for you the negative aspects of staying in this hotel.
1. The hotel was exceedingly busy with only three slow moving elevators, and at times, out of order.
2. The hotel room was infinitesimal. If you are not athletically built, you will not fit into the shower. There is no bathtub, and as this as marked as a family friendly hotel. I hope your babies are comfortable showering.
3. The sink did not drain.
4. The lights flickered while on.
5. The lights eventually burnt out in more than one place.
6. The bedsheets were bloodstained. I have pictures.
7. The air conditioning came off and on at its leisure, not when the temperature was achieved.
8. The television had two channels that did not work: the two children's channels.
9. There was not toilet paper provided for four people over four days.
10. Shower and bathroom were both dirty with hair stuck to the walls of both.
11. Shower temperature fluctuated drastically any time shower was on.
12. Room was not vacuumed for four days.
13. Bathroom fan did not work.
14. Note that windows open enough for a small child to fit through.
15. Breakfast is free but seating is not. Hotel was too busy to find seating every day of our stay.
We've had fantastic experiences at other upscale hotels for similar prices. I would suggest a hotel outside of Times Square, as all the best things about NYC are not Times Square related. Save yourself the headache and enjoy your trip at a different hotel.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast. If you need GF, the breakfast servers on the main level can make you toast, just ask. The walk to/from the subway is bumpy for pulling suitcases, but convenient when not burdened.

I was there for two consecutive years of the New 2016 and 2017 marathons. The rooms are very small. The morning breakfast buffet is excellent and they also allow you to prepare something to take away for lunch. The morning of the marathon kitchen open from 5am !!!! Perfect for marathon runners.

The first room we had faced a brick wall and an ally with garbage cans. We asked to be moved and though they stated they were overbooked they moved us to a room with a partial view. The rooms were pretty sparse and basic but the manager was helpful and amazing, and the location made it possible for us to walk all over and around Times Square.

I had a business trip where I had to stay in this place. The place it nice and I had a good stay, except one thing. When I returned to DC, where I live, I found out that I forgot my 200$ Electric Toothbrush. I called the next day and they said the "House Keeping" didn't found it! It was in the bathroom where a blind can locate it, but it is "mysteriously" disappeared. It was work "one-night" of stay in that place and now I have to get another one just because their housekeeping decided to get that instead of delivering it to lost and found. Worst stay ever. Not recommended if you might leave your stuff there by accident

The suite was very complete and nice but lacks elevators on the building, you either need to stay very high up so you pick the elevator when is empty or very low level to use the stairs, otherwise you will spend lots of time trying to get down on busy time like breakfast time.

The elevators are terrible! Often waited more than 20 minutes for one to get to our floor, only for it to be packed full already. One of the three was out of order for some of our stay, which I know was part of the reason, but it became really annoying and frustrating. The amazing staff and the great breakfasts made up for it to a large extent.

The staff members was most all nice and kind. But the guests are a problem. It s 2:36am and I ve complained 3 times already about the loud music on the apartment on the side and apparently the security came upstairs, knocked at the door and since nobody answered they just left. I m calling the cops. I m paying to staying in a hotel and the same right they have, I have to. You should at least respect the others privacy. Really disappointed with the disrespect of others and the hotel security staff.

Repairs going on all day opposite our room door with unbearable machine tool noises that drove us out earlier than we'd planned on our first day here. Then on the second day we had money stolen from our room and our belongings ransacked while we were out. Treatment from staff on the matter was appalling to say the least. Their resolve was that they provide safes in the rooms and we didn't use it so they can't help as they do not see any abnormal event from their investigation (investigation being they checked the room access log and found that only their staff cleaners went in to clean the room which is "normal"). Another staff advised that we have spent our money and left our room in a particular way without knowing. No one bothered to come upstairs to assess the situation, we took our bag down to reception to show the managers the situation, couldn't sleep that night as the knowing that someone came into our space to rummage through our belongings was violating enough, but this nonchalant treatment with almost suggesting we're crazy added salt to injury.

We tried not to let this event ruin the entirety of an amazing NY experience we'd had prior.
But I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

One of the ugliest hotels we have stayed at. On one side of the bus terminal, with sidewalks full of homeless people, drug addicts and foul smells. The rooms in shabby condition, dirty, poorly preserved. The carpets smelled awful, perhaps because the rooms have kitchenettes and pets. Badly faced and rude staff. A very bad experience, definitely.

Rooms were small and no view. Not what we expected for a suite. Toilet did not flush properly. Breakfast was just OK. A fair walk to anything. The concierge on the first day was helpful; however the new one on the second day was a con-artist. He told us we HAD to buy tours from him in order to have them booked. Not true. We saved money booking elsewhere. He also told us that it would cost $95 to get the hotel car to take us to New Jersey, and not to bother with a bus because it would be at least $60 to take a bus for two people. We walked to the bus station and it only cost us $6 in total for two people. We should not be CONNED by YOUR EMPLOYEES!

The room was small but very nice. The bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was a full buffet with lots of options and was delicious. We parked our car with the valet but just wanted to walk around the city after checking out. The hotel let us leave our bags with them all day. The staff was friendly. All and all excellent hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel, very well located, full breakfast and a brunch three times a week with which you can dine, but want to go out in the room has a full kitchen and a large TV.
The employees are very attentive and are attentive to our needs, it is a little expensive but if they can afford it it is worth it.

Ideally located hotel, helpful staff, very clean room but very small for four people, the breakfast is gargantuan and extremely varied.
The big downside lies in the time spent waiting for one of the three elevators ... 15 to 20 minutes of waiting in the morning for breakfast (over a ten-day stay we therefore waited nearly six hours in front of the 'elevator).

Small rooms that were not well kept. The breakfast looked unappetizing so we ate out every morning. Sometimes free is not worth it. The elevators are horrible. Be prepared to wait for a ridiculous amount of time to get down to the lobby. If you are anywhere below the 20th floor the elevators will all be full when they get to you so be prepared to walk down if you want to get out in the morning. If you stay on a higher floor, be prepared to stop on every floor on the way to the lobby with angry people looking in the elevator that is full because they have trying to get on to one all morning. Stay somewhere else and save yourself the headache!

Visited New York City 3 yrs ago. The hotel is just a couple of blocks south of Times Square, in Hell's Kitchen. The neighborhood has definitely improved in the years, but keep in mind that it's still Hell's Kitchen. Stores around are generally pour, I remember walking past a sexy shop and a parking lot, but as you get towards the 8th Ave, you'll just have a better visual of the city.
As the hotel faces the Port Authority Bus Terminal you'll probably see dozens of cars parked on the roof. I remember finding it odd at first, but then I realized that bus terminal (which is something like 5 stories tall) meant the absence of a possible skyscraper, so this gave me a wider perspective of what was around me.
Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. All of them facing Upper Manhattan.
Breakfast is very good, though a little repetetive, kind of serving same things day after day, and after a week you just get enough.
Doorman was extremely kind, along with the receptionists and the concierge. Highly suggested!

AMAZING! Located close to everything in NY!
I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, fair prices and everything you could want and more included! Five years ago I stayed in a very high end expensive hotel in NY, and Staybridge blew them out of the water!

Pros: Air conditioning, good location, free breakfast/happy hours, free wifi, free laundry, big rooms, helpful staff etc...

Cons: sloooowww elevators, advise to stay on a lower floor so you can take the stairs! Somewhat a seedy street, but never felt unsafe at all.

The worst IHG hotel I've stayed at in NYC and I've...

The worst IHG hotel I've stayed at in NYC and I've been to many (several Holiday Inns and HIEs and a Candlewood). I am an elite ambassador and travel often. The front desk staff was not welcoming and did not mention my being a part of their rewards program which is standard across all IHG properties. I asked for an upgrade and was told I had already been upgraded. Not sure what the upgrade was from but it was nothing special and no view. There were 2 broken light switches, the cover of the thermostat broke off when gently lifted to turn on, the shower/tub drain did not drain (think ankle deep, standing water), the bathroom floor was dirty, and the toilet broke which turned into a 6am maintenance ordeal. I was looking forward to a good night's rest after traveling all day and experiencing NYC at night so the maintenance wake up call was a huge frustration. That on top of sand paper sheets left me with very little sleep. I should also mention while the toilet in our room was out of use I had to go down to the lobby to use the restroom which didn't have toilet paper. Icing on the cake as they say.

I will never stay here again. If you're IHG loyal find another spot within the brand but do not, I repeat, Do Not stay here.

Staff were friendly, but the biggest knock would be slow room service. We were done with our day and back to the hotel before housekeeping could come by 2 days out of 3. No biggie, just a little disappointing when you are paying so much for a bed and have to clean/restock it, too. Rooms were nice. Location was not ideal. Too much noise, trash, and congestion in midtown. Next time we'll be looking for a place in lower Manhattan.

First time staying in New York, and boy what a dis...

First time staying in New York, and boy what a disappointment.

I would give a lower rating, but can't.

I was skeptical about this place from the start, but the reviews of over 4 stars misled me to believe that this would have been an ok stay.

I flew in for a business trip, was politely greeted, and when my reservation was booked, it was incorrect from what I had requested. The front desk person, Shelly, was always courteous and polite and asked us to manage for one evening and that we would get things rectified the following day as she was sure there would be availibilty.

*** keep in mind I'm checking in on a Saturday night in New York ***

So I get to my room, ON the surface all looks good. It's a bit cool so I want to adjust the thermostat, I see some brownish/blackish debris with blue bits on it inside the vents...i question turning it on. A quick call to housekeeping, they send up a technician to address the issue.

He says it's dirt/dust.

I know better, it's mold.

See my pictures, that's after they "cleaned" the vents.

Then he adjusts the heater, and it starts blowing chunks of dirt on the bed...

From my room, I can:
-hear toilets flushing from other floors
-distinctly smell sewage/methane/fart every now and then
-hear the fridge condenser going all night

I put up with it, I think 1 night...cant hurt, even though I'm paying for this.

Following morning, wake up head down to speak with front desk about moving to another room as my reservation was incorrect...the person behind the desk, Amanda, who's also the manager, as she says, says that nothing can be done and that Shelly (from the previous night) was wrong, they cannot accommodate any change.

Here I am, and the manager is showing no sense of trying to find a solution, no willingness to help or understand my frustration.

So what would you do?

Here's what I did, it's now 12pm, clocks have just sprung forward I pack my things and just check out.

Normal check out time is 11am, so had the clocks not sprung forward, I'd be OK but I'm charged and extra night just as I'm checking out.

Amanda, tells me her guard is up and that she can't deal with the situation, and walks away completely.

Here I am, in NYC the first time. What a disappointment in hospitality service, what a disappointment for New York.

Make sure you protect yourself.

Do yourself a favor, and no matter how good a deal, pass on Staybridge suites.

*** be sure to check the pictures, that's what you and your family are breathing in ***

The rooms were nice, but the shower door leaked so the floor was extremely wet almost flooded. During our one-night stay, we found the staff to be friendly and attentive, and the overall value to be very good. Deducting a star because of 3 (minor) reasons: 1. The bathroom leaky shower door, 2. The elevators take a looong time to service 31+ floors, and 3. The tiny sitting area in the front outside the lobby just lets in too much smoke from the smokers who congregate there. Other than that we enjoyed our stay . My wife did not complain about the room so that is a positive rating right there. Breakfast is included and yes, we would come back to stay again.

Very well located hotel just minutes from Times Square, Broadway, subway. Took two rooms for four: had to fight to get the window closed in the children's room, which overlooked the street and the bus station, as a result, they had to buy earplugs to be able to sleep. Ours overlooked the garbage room but we didn't have the street noise and the nightly announcements of bus departures. Very rough cleaning in both rooms: dusty lampshades, hair in the bathroom that has never been vacuumed. The rooms are a bit dated, closet a bit small. Three small elevators for 42 floors, which could give long waits at breakfast time. Breakfast very sad, not very good, spread over 3 rooms forcing us to move from one room to another because, for example, hot milk in one room but not in the other. In addition, the breakfast staff were not always very friendly unlike the reception staff who greeted us very kindly as well as the porter and the person who booked the shuttle to the airport which turned out to be very effective.
We were therefore very disappointed with the reviews we had read.

Great week-long stay. The breakfast bar is complimentary and very nice. You get a complimentary drink at certain days of the week. We were greeted by a guitar-playing employee that was very helpful in getting us settled. Only thing was that the elevators were a bit slow. If staying here, stay on a lower floor to help with this. Otherwise great stay.

Excellent hotel, in every way.

Excellent hotel, in every way.
Ideal location, just a few minutes walk from Times Square, subway stations, Port Authority, shops, warehouses and different types of restaurants.
Large, comfortable rooms, always clean and very complete. They have super spacious and comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen with utensils, a stove, a coffee maker with free coffee every day, a dishwasher and a large refrigerator, and a full bathroom with free amenities.
It has free WiFi throughout the building.
Breakfast is extremely complete, varied and with fresh and high-quality food, as is the aperitif service that is offered from Tuesday to Thursday afternoon. In addition, there is a free 24-hour coffee and tea service.
The staff is multilingual, and is always ready to help or resolve any inconvenience or concern that the passenger may have and advise them on what to do or how to get to the attractions or places of interest in New York. In addition, he is always very friendly and provides personalized attention to each guest, making the stay even warmer.
Free laundry service is provided, and rooms are cleaned daily.
There is a small pantry open 24 hours, where food and basic items are sold.
Despite being very crowded, the elevators are sufficient to transport all passengers without delay.
It is definitely a wonderful hotel, and I would not stay at another on a new visit to New York.

It is impossible to communicate without feeling attacked by Sherry at the front desk, the rest of the staff is more willing to solve the needs.
They also charge the cleaning of the room separately and we had not been notified. The elevator takes forever.
The bed is very comfortable and the location is good.
