My 15 yr old is in this "facility". We had limited choices due to Covid19. Here's what you should know ahead of time before doing the tele-intake permissions for your adolescent :
First of all they will not disclose that they currently have an active Covid19 outbreak. They have both staff and patients that have tested positive. They have refused to say how many cases. I only discovered that, after agreeing my child's intake, when googling and the news articles showed up in the search results.( Very RECENT news articles!). When I called requesting information, I was given PC answers about "precautions" they are taking. that may or may not be true. But they did, in fact, confirm positive Covid19 cases. We were entitled to that info BEFORE agreeing to place our child there!
My child is not showing improvement. They have put her on inappropriate medications, and although they did require initial parental approval, they do not give you time to research and discuss when unfortunate effects/info come to light. They have punished her with isolation for refusing to take the drugs, that we have seen (heard) are having a negative effect on her.
Tonight, in fact, I called to speak with the RNP, planning to rescind my authorization of one of her medications Abilify,( which they wanted to add on top of Zoloft and, Lamactil ( Do your homework on this drug people!), and I could HEAR that nurse refusing to speak with me, saying "Take a message". When I said "No, don't take a message I want to talk to her, She said, " tell her I will call her back". I said , "I only need two minutes of her time, I want to talk to her", and she again refused. And when she refused a third time, I told the charge nurse that I would be contacting the CEO, because this is BS!
Later that night they told my Daughter to take her Abilfy or she would stay in isolation for non-compliance. So now I know why that nurse would't take my call. She wanted to get my daughter to take that med before I could revoke authorization. Needless to say, she did not "Call me back"!
Do anything, everything, in your power to keep your child OUT of SOUTH COAST! Navigating the mental health system is a daunting task for any parent. There are no easy answers, but please do not hand your child over to "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" that is South Coast Dartmouth!
ETA: For those of you who need further proof of the incompetence at South Coast Dartmouth, here's a nice Yelp review I will quote verbatim:
"I'm not even from MA. In fact, I live on the West Coast. Here's why I'm writing a review.
"For some weird reason, they got a hold of my email address. They also think I'm an employee there. I've received I don't know how many admission reports from these guys in the past year and a half. I have asked them several times to stop emailing me. I've tried to reach out on Facebook and got ignored. I tried calling and no one there was able to help. All I want is for them to stop emailing me random patient information. I've responded to the random people I've received emails from (Seanna Kelly, Crystal Charest, Brittany Morris, Linda Thivierge) and for some reason, none of them can reply to me, but they can keep sending me emails.
If you don't want some random college student to know who got admitted to this institution, don't go here."
Are you really willing to trust your Teens life with such incompetence?
