Tom Berry's review sounds suspiciously like Mark Thompson responding to the BBB Online complaints against Smith Thompson.

No, not everyone who has a complaint about a bad product or service is a chronic complainer, but it's interesting that Tom's review of ST is the only positive one he's left. Does that make him someone who "gripes for no reason whatsoever"? Does he "have problems with any and everything"? Those are the very things Mark Thompson repeats in response to customer complaints at BBB....right before he cancels their service instead of addressing the issues.

The prices are great; the dispatchers are, too. But have an issue requiring a chat with management and you'll be treated with complete disrespect and a "leave if you don't like it" solution. Calls to Mark Thompson were not returned which is what prompted us to check BBB online. There we saw repeated what we experienced when we called. Guessing this is a family-run operation so all the managers know they can do and say whatever they want to a customer because the owner does. we didn't bother filing a complaint; we just cancelled our service since we knew that's how they would handle it.

If you're considering this company, we suggest you check BBB online first. ST may appear to have an A+ rating, but read the complaints and responses from the company. They are all the same and their customer service is anything but.

My husband Vinh and I have been with smith Thompson for 3 years and not one complaint from us! They are a great solid and dependable company!!

Customer service - I would give 1 star, the tech person on the phone was highly unprofessional and rude, he was not willing to explain the complete details of installation. Since my friend gave good feedback, I scheduled an appointment. The technician who came to our house for installing the security system went above and beyond our expectation. Five star for this technician . He was very Honest and straightforward; In fact, he explained thoroughly the functionality of each device he installed. I hope I won't have any trouble with my system since I didn't get a good response from customer service.

We scheduled an appointment for Smith Thompson to come show us their offer for their services. The technician was on time, very thorough and got our service up and running very quick. He also mentioned he loved working there and the ownership were "good people". His name was Jason and our sales person was Jon.

Had a guy out to install sensors after we replaced all our windows. He was on time. He was extremely friendly and courteous. I m very happy with their service.

Great company you never heard of!!
After routinely getting hosed by ADT's predatory contracting practices, it's nice to find a company that is half their monthly price, no contracts and no hassles. Wish we found them 20 years ago!

Technician was very professional. He followed the CDC guidelines and fixed my alarm problem. The service was great. The price was great. Smith Thompson service is on par if not better than the big alarm companies. You get great service, prices and equipment without a contract or high prices. If you need alarm and or pest control service, please give Smith Thompson Home Security and Alarm a call. You will not be disappointed.

We just bought a house whose previous owners had a Smith Thompson Security system. Unfortunately they had it disconnected when they moved so I called them to see what I needed to get it back and working. I spoke to the tech who answered the phone and he didn't try to sell me anything more than the monitoring since I already had the system wired. So far it has worked without any issues and I am real happy with the monthly cost of monitoring. I would recommend this company to anyone shopping for a reliable alarm system.

I switched to Smith Thompson years ago and haven't had a single issue with them since. They are always responsive, pleasant and helpful. Gary came out last week to check a sensor issue, and; he was wonderful. Not only did he fix that issue, but he upgraded (at no charge) the equipment, which I didn't even know I needed. He went above and beyond what was required of him, and I appreciate very much everything he did. They're a keeper!

Smith Thompson is great. We just switched out existing service to ST. Our technician (Mark Thompson) was prompt, personable, knows what he is doing, and very professional. We will definitely recommend this company to others in the market for alarm systems.

Smith Thompson has great prices, professional installation and no contracts. On top of all of this, they are a locally owned company that cares about professionalism. They are an easy recommend to anyone who needs home security.

You get what you pay for. Keep an hour or so aside if you have to call them for anything as small as updating your phone number. They are always understaffed and they will put you on hold multiple during a call.

Smith Thompson security is great you muat switch if u haven't done so yet. I have them since we build the house 2009 paid $16.95 and until now in 2020 is still same price. No other company have not done this. Also they service is top notch. They call qithin minutes if alarm triggers. I am upgrading their smar home security even that ia awsome price $29.95 and thats cheaper than everyone else. I am happy with them not changing them. They deserve 5 stars.

I called Smith Thompson Alarm Comp tech support to test my system and spoke to Dominic. He was extremely rude, unprofessional, impatient and short. I have been with this company for over 20 years and have never dealt with such a horrible employee. He has no business being in a role where he deals with customers. It was shocking to me that such a great company has someone like this representing them because it s not reflective of who they are.

Just switched from ADT after 25 yr to Smith Thompson. ADT would not let me add remote arming to my $30 plan (said I had to upgrade to a much more costly plan) - bye bye ADT. I was very skeptical initially about Smith Thompson (just the way I am), but I saw their 4.6 rating here. With it all behind me now, I am very pleased with everything.

There were no sales tricks - it was exactly as discussed. They switched out my WIRED panel and 1 keypad at no cost. In fact they even had to go up a level on the panel as I have more than typical # of zones, plus remote arming eats up a zone. I paid only for a 2nd key pad and a wireless transmitter (at the reasonable prices they'd quoted me previously), and voluntarily paid a year in advance to get a free month of service.

Kevin, the technician, was awesome. He said he had 22 years of experience and I found him to be very professional. He switched the whole thing over in about 2 hours. Believe me - not an easy task - there a ton of wires there to move and keep straight, and smoke detector resistors to locate. After he did some testing, Kevin set me up on the Website, and walked me through the arming procedures. Its DSC, so a little different operation than my old Honeywell/Smartwatch.

Later that day I tried out tech support, with a question, and that all went smoothly. And even though I explained the operational change to my wife, without a practice session, on her first attempt she managed to trigger the alarm unintentionally coming home before me. The company call immediately as Kevin had indicated, and I gave them the code. The following day I had a billing question, and the person I spoke to was very helpful and polite.

My only suggestions are that the sales people should ask new customers about their current number of zones, for people with existing systems. That way the installer can be prepared with the right panel. And it was disappointing that they don't have an auto-renewal option - they said I'd get a bill next year - that's so last century.

So in a few days, I've had touch points all over this company, and I'd say they deserve more than their 4.6 rating - Im giving them 5 stars.

Call to schedule a set up and they came right out and on time to set up. So far so good, the technician did not have all the materials to complete our setup so we have to schedule another appointment which sucks. So far so good.

Helped me when I called. I like the low prices. They did not install my system so I am unsure how good they are with that. I also have never had my alarm go off yet either (unless testing) and I hope I never do.

I have been using ST Pest Control for a few years now and it has been well worth it. They are reasonably priced and offer great warranty, which I have used for a re-spray. All of the technicians are great, especially Colton H, who makes my house is in good order before he leaves.

I also use them for alarm monitoring, no complaints with an extremely reasonable price.

After purchasing our new house we looked into home security companies and we are so happy to have gone with Smith Thompson. The technician was extremely friendly and helpful. He was able to use the existing keypad and helped show me how to work it. We even set the alarm off accidentally but he quickly figured out the problem and fixed it. The set-up was quick and easy! This is the second property I have used Smith Thompson to secure/safe guard my home. The first property installation was just the cost of the wireless transmitter, plus the 3 months monitoring, and this was due to the home's old security equipment was still working properly. The second property, I did have to get 2 new keyless remotes, wireless transmitter, and I think a new sensor, but they were very good to test all the old equipment prior to making me buy something I did not need. I have had ADT in the past, and they were very expensive and not very nice to work with when there were issues with my bill.

I had to call in to have my glass break deactivated due to my dog setting off the glass break sensor when she gets excited and wags her tail too hard against her metal crate, and I did not want to have any false alarms. The process took me less than 2 minutes on the phone with the technician and my key pad.

I will always recommend Smith Thompson Security for their honesty, my safety, and an unbeatable monthly monitoring cost.

Tom is a very knowledgeable representative and was able to diagnose and fix the three zones that were disabled due to remodeling in my house. Tom was very courteous, conducted full system diagnostics, identified issue with a motion detector, replaced my battery and an overheated plug in the attic. I fully recommend Tom s services. The only negative was the long delay in scheduling his services, but that is something that Smith Thompson should correct.

Very satisfied with this company! We live out in the country and we weren't even sure if we'd be able to get services. Our tech went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He upgraded our system, walked me through setting up the website, mobile app, and extensively showed me how to use the system! I chose Smith Thompson for their pest control services after some frustration with one of their competitors scheduling system. ST has consistently shown up on time, been courteous and very quick. Glad I found this security company, since all the others I contacted required a 3-year contract and at higher monthly rates. Installer came out and fixed an issue we were having with our front door sensor. He offered a couple of options and got it fixed rather quickly. Friendly service and so far, so good!
