Updated review - I have had some issues in beginning with technician and wireless transmitter installed which wouldn't work with my cell phone but Ryan called me back in timely manner and resolved all of the issues . Tech. Gary who came for follow up visit did awesome job. I really appreciate that Smith Thompson security is taking customer service very seriously and they're here to stay in this Industry by serving customer in best possible manner. I have been a long time customer with Smith Thompson. This year 2021 in Jan I called them to ask if they had sent out the yearly bill because I never received it in Dec 2020. I was told by the rep that my alarm system was canceled because I did not pay my yearly bill in 2020. No wonder why I never received a call in Dec 2020 when m alarm went off. Anyways, the rep was nice enough to explain what happened, I paid my 2020 bill and she added me to the email list for reminders. Today Technician Leo Rios arrived on time to reactivate my alarm with the new 4G/5G device and within 30 to 40 minutes had everything set up. He was nice and provided a card on how to activate the board. I have been with Smith Thompson for a long time and this is the first time I see this card. Leo thank you for the quick service and for educating us on how to use the system.
Our experience with Taylor the technician was wonderful. He was very helpful and did a fantastic job. I am very happy with the pest control service. Due to change in the weather we did see some pest issues inside and outside the home, one call and booked an appointment and Taylor came over and pest problem solved. Thanks so much.
My wife and I recently moved and switched alarm companies to Smith Thompson. We were very happy with how easy the process was from our initial sign up to installation. The technician was very helpful and was able to use our existing key pad in the bedroom and install a new key pad by our garage door. The technician gave us a full explanation on how to use the system, and we have not had any issues with the system since.
Jason was the technician who came to do the sales call and then came back to install my system. He was very professional, explained everything in detail, and got things done quickly. I'd previously called another company, but they were obviously all about the money - customer service was definitely lacking. Smith Thompson is a very responsive alarm company. Recently we needed upgrade our system and tech Jason came in and did the switch in a professional and efficient manner, answered all the questions and was very friendly and cordial. Great service and value.
This was our first time working with Smith Thompson, and must say the whole process was indeed a pleasant surprise. We recently moved, and after a lot of deliberation we decided to go with Smith Thompson. From our first communication to the setup process - everything was great! Our technician, Jeremy Dunn, was a pleasure to work with. He was very polite, professional and knowledgable. He patiently waited for our decision on the number and location of devices after providing his recommendations. This was refreshing to experience since we've dealt with a number of pushy salesmen with other providers. That being said, we are very happy with the service and the app's ease of use so far.
My husband and I have always wanted to have a security system around our property and when the funds became available we did. We decided to use Smith-Thompson Security/Alarm as they have been our security provider for over 20 years with exceptional service. Whenever our alarm sounds whether intentional or unintentional service is expeditious and professional!! The police department is notified with no more than two officers dispatched when a call is not answered or a incorrect passcode is given. The officers too are very professional and courteous. THATS QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT YOUR FINGER TIPS!! We have a huge field behind our home and had installed a front/back camera/ door camera and a garage door opener. Prior to installation we were greeted again by a professional service technician who explained step by step the procedure of getting everything to work smoothly on our smart phones followed by the necessary paperwork to seal the deal. So glad that he was the one to return and install all of our services. Keep hiring quality people that understand what customer service really means.

Dan is always on time and gives great communication when he works at my house. When I m having a problem with pests he ll explain what he s doing and why so I can understand fully what s happening. He always makes sure the problem is solved. When it s a quarterly preventative job he always calls beforehand and does his job thoroughly.
If you want to be notified if someone is burglarizing your home, Smith Thompson is not the way to go. My home alarm was armed one day when i left the house. Something set off the alarm and was never notified. My neighbor is the one that notified me and a letter from the constable at my door. I called Smith Thompson after hearing the alarm was set off and they told me if it was serious the cops would let them know. Found out also that they cant tell if your system is armed or disarmed. The only way is if i had their app. Well i did have it once but i got rid of it because the app is delayed and even their workers know that its not a good app and they still haven"t changed. They cant tell if they are receiving a signal from their cellular device either. I thought home security companies are all the same. So i went with the lower price. The only thing your getting from Smith Thompson is a cheap price that's even if its working at that. If you care about your family and your life don't put it in the hands of Smith Thompson.

We have had Smith and Thompson for about 3 years and highly recommend them. I thought there would be hidden costs...there weren't any. During the installation, I was expecting a huge sales push for "extras". Never happened, in fact, they corrected a few wiring problems at no charge. Our alarm has gone off a number of times during our three years (thankfully just accidental on our end) and we have ALWAYS gotten a call back within 30 seconds. When I had Brinks, I would get call backs 10 minutes later or not at all. Their customer service and sales has been nothing but pleasant and professional.
Excellent customer service, pricing, and security; we've been customers for years and just recently moved to a new home, so keeping them was a no brainer! We even got my parents to switch from a pricier competitor. This time we added the app to be able to auto arm/disarm from anywhere and also added pest control service!
We have been with Smith Thompson for about 6 Years on both Security and pest services. Home Security: we used to have a renowned brand before thomson security, the response time is about 1-2 minutes but with Thompson it's less than 5 seconds, which is amazing. Peat Control Services: We always been pretty much satisfied with their services and professional manner. They are extremely knowledgeable and very patiently checks every corner of the house and all the way into Attic and roof edges of the house.

Guy didn t even make it through the door. Loyd the service guy for my area in Houston was scheduled to come on a Saturday. Gives me a call to know he s on his way and will be there in 45 minutes and that ended up being 2 hours. If you are running late give me a call don t have me hanging all day. He finally shows up to just sit in his Ford Explorer and Drive off and claim he knocked on the door. Ended up going with another company who wants to work on Saturday because loyd decided that Saturday he was going to go home early.
The technician was great no problems he came in and did what he was supposed to do but the office failed to tell him that I had also ordered a another keypad so he didn't get to replace that . Apparently there is poor communication between the office and the technician. I have no problems with the alarm service itself.
The technician showed up on time, was very professional and made sure I had all of my questions answered. In the past (with other alarm companies) I ve been pressured to upgrade for more than I requested, had to sign up for a minimum two year contract and a host of other similar issues. With Smith Thompson there was no pressure, they were very accommodating with regards to my situation, I didn t have to sign up for a minimum 2 year contract and their prices are very competitive. I have friends and family who recommended this company and I highly recommend them as well.
I was looking into ADT from a brochure that advertised one price but when I called them it was another price. I called Smith Thompson and not only is their price the same as advertised there's no contract, and no hassle. Tech was friendly and knowledgeable, fixed all my old equipment and got it all up and going quickly.

We recently just moved to Tx from East coast about 1 month ago, my husband did his own research on which one to get for our first home security ever, obviously he picked Smith Thompson home security for the reason that they are the cheapest in town, hubby says they are all the same anyway, providing you home security, he didn't care much about other techy things that other providers had, more things added, more money to pay he says. So installation guy came in, was very friendly and helpful, and very accommodating, he even changed the location of our motion detector because it was being blocked by a curtain rod. Everything went smoothly, and quickly as far as the whole process of installation, we were provided with a certificate asap upon request for our home insurance guy. But wait, this is not even the highlight of my review. So on day of installation we didn't have our permit yet, Jason, guy that installed the home security reminded us to have it asap, so hubby applied for it asap. But 2 days later, a False Alarm went off, guy mowing our lawn hit something by accident and hit our window, no one was home and we missed the call, so deputy came in and charged us unpermitted false alarm. Called Smith Thomspon and emailed Marc Thompson as well, they were very helpful, took their time to hear us out, not only that they advised us what we needed to do, they also went out of their way to resolve our problem. And for us, being newbies in this state and town, we needed that kind of services. Exactly what they are, a "FRIENDLY and DEPENDABLE FAMILY OWNED, P BUSSINESS", who will take care of you because they appreciate your business, simple as that. FYI, according to our research, they haven't increased their charges for the longest time, and they are still in Business, so that has to mean something good. More power this awesome company.

I switched from another company to Smith Thompson and couldn't be happier. The technician put in the new wireless dialer in about 10 minutes, tested the system and was out in another 10 minutes. Great follow up from the home office and the monitoring rate can't be beat. If you are thinking of a new home security system or changing providers I highly recommend Smith Thompson.
Smith Thompson was recommended to us by both a neighbor and a family member. The technician was very professional and proficient. We had an old system that had been installed 30 years ago. Our technician updated the system and instructed us on how to use it within an hour. This system is much easier to use than other systems we have had in the past. We have accidentally set it off a few times, and they have called us immediately to confirm a false alarm. We would definitely use them again and recommend to friends and neighbors.
I have to say that this was probably one of the best experiences with someone coming to our house to install something! Gary (person who showed up) was prompt, professional, went through all the questions that I had (and I ask plenty!!) and was accommodating in every way he could. I must have changed the direction of what devices to install or not probably 3 times or more and he never uttered a single complaint! I never felt like I am not getting direct answers to my direct questions. Try getting the same feeling responses with ADT - good luck!
While Gary's rating was a clear 5/5, the only reason I am giving a 4 star overall is because of a) slight (minor) inconsistency between multiple customer service folks that I spoke to on the phone initially (before Gary) and b) the 3 week wait for someone to come out and do the work. Although the wait was totally worth it!

I'm using Smith Thompson Home Security for last 6 years. And I still got their service, when i moved into a new home. Monthly service charges are low, around $18.35. But they make money by replacing your keypads ($39), adding wireless motion sensor ($99) and glass breakage sensors ($99) etc.
The Smith Thompson technician was amazing!!! He was so helpful and went over the system with us so we knew everything about it!! We would recommend Smith Thompson to anyone looking for home security and their technicians are the best!!
Our family has been using this Alarm Company for about the past 4-5 years. Love their service, love their price! Very affordable! Customer service is excellent! We are very pleased with their service! We have recommended this company does several friends and family and will continue to do so!
Initially contacted Smith Thompson (ST) on Sept. 24th to setup service and discuss their process. Financing, and fees. I had equipment from a previous vendor and but we were not sure if my equipment would be useful to this company. ST sales agent scheduled an appointment on Oct. 14 th which was the earliest to have a technician come out and examine my home and current equipment.
After this process was complete, an installation appointment was scheduled for Oct. 28th. On this day, the Tech informed me that the full amount for the product was due which caught me by surprise since we talked about financing at the initial call but the Sales Rep. did not discuss the process to complete the financing.
From Oct. 28th to today Nov. 2nd I have waited for a Manager to call only to confirm the service offered, and offer to reschedule my appointment 3 weeks from this date.
I am a return customer and the previous owners of my current home were ST as well. I'm not sure if this is a new trend but the customer service I have experienced has been deplorable. I told the manager that I would share my experience and he seemed to be fine with my decision instead finding a resolution for my concerns.
ST seems to be understaffed so make sure you contact them weeks prior to your desired installation date.

Technician was pleasant, knowledgeable and quick. One issue I had that he couldn t resolve was wanting a motion detector in a remote office be active when in Stay mode as well as Away mode. He said city regulations prohibited motion detectors being active when people present. Not happy about that but I guess unavoidable

Great home security service however their pest control service is far from anything close to satisfactory. The person who showed up miscommunicated in what they cover and it was an eyewash in the name of bundled discount as its pretty much useless and their pest control customer service is very rude to say the least.
Mike did a great job of fixing my security system and then took the time to explain to me what the problem was in the first place. He was professional, personable, and courteous.
I recently contracted with Smith-Thompson to update my home security and begin monthly monitoring. I had two calls with the sales department to inquire about the service and equipment each was very productive. The scheduling the technician to monitoring has been wonderful. The sales staff are extremely friendly, and very patient with me. Since it had been many years since I had investigated home security, I had quite a variety of questions. The advice was sound and suggested the proper equipment for my home. They provided me with the exact website and process required for the alarm permit. We were able to schedule the technician within days of my second call. He showed up at the front end of the allotted time, which was very convenient for me. This week we had them come to our home to add some additional sensors to some doors which the previous homeowners had neglected. We also added a glass breaker. Excellent experience and great prices They provide a narrow enough time window (unlike the 4 hours that some others do) and show up on time. Installed everything and taught me how to manage and activate the system. very thorough. They even reminded me that I needed an alarm permit from my municipality and advised how to get it. They provide top level service at realistic rates, and they saw my existing security system, adapted it to work with their monitoring network and didn't came with the "oh, you need to install our system" or tried to upsell me anything. Well I had new windows installed and they did not leave enough wires on some and none on the others so could not install security on my windows. So, he suggested window breakage monitors and that's what I went with. I've never had any issues where I live so I think this will be ok for me. Thank you Smith Thompson.
