I had an 18 year old monstrous furnace that finally was becoming dangerous. Brad came in to do the initial analysis. He was very helpful and educated me on what was going on. I very much appreciated his knowledge and ability to communicate with me. Next Will came to give me the details on replacing the furnace. He would be the project manager to oversee the new installation. Will's ability to warmly communicate and give me options was excellent. I could tell that he would be a good project team manager as well. Finally, within just a few short days, Will showed up with Cosmin and Mike D, two extremely skillful and experienced installation technicians. They did a great job, on time and very neat and clean job. They installed a new high-efficiency furnace and also walked me through some of the details of the new system and thermostat. These guys confirmed my choice of Shavitz for my HVAC work. They are professional, courteous, communicate well and are obviously experienced. Thanks to all. I would heartily recommend them!

I have used Shavitz for many years and have never been disappointed with their services. This appointment (May 20, 2020) was for the semi-annual check-up and ongoing maintenance of the furnace and central air-conditioning, as well as problems with the hot water heater (no hot water. David D. was the technician for this visit, my first experience with him. His communication was outstanding. He listened to my descriptions of problems, informed me of what he planned to do, and kept me updated on his findings and his progress. He fixed the problem with the hot water heater an arranged an appointment with a Shavitz Project Manager within a week to discuss possible replacements for equipment that has been in use for many years. I was completely satisfied with David and with this visit. The service was outstanding.

David was our technician. He came out and it was -20 and our heat didn't work. He had to go up and down three flights of stairs a bazillion times and ultimately had to get an enormous ladder to go to our roof (after dethawing the lock on his truck and then dethawing the mechanism on the ladder. . .) It was quite an ordeal. He was patient, respectful and determined to get it fixed for us. And he did. Super appreciate his huge efforts in extremely awful conditions. Thank you!

Removal and Installation of a basement furnace by Linas and Mirek. The guys arrived at 8:00am as planned and got right to work. In 90 minutes the old unit was out and by 4:30pm that afternoon the new unit was in, tested and working well. Very good job.

Can t say enough great things about Cornelius. He has been out technician for the last 3 years. Very experienced and knowledgeable about our steam boiler, and takes the time to explain why he s doing certain things, or how the system works, so you can also learn as a homeowner.

Over Priced- They will screw you over a lot of $$$- Don't use them! I used them a two years ago and they charged me over $300 dollars for coming to look at the HVAC- this did not include a quote for the part. Recently the same part is no longer working and they wanted to charge me again $200 dollars for coming out to the place, this did not include looking at the HVAC. They are over priced, they will over charge for the installation, delivery and parts.

Shawn B was our service professional. He was so nice and helpful. He explained everything so well and did his job as quickly as possible. He did a maintenance on our furnace and humidifier and found some issues, which he felt should be taken care of that day. Replaced some parts and we are good to go. Thanks Shawn and Shavitz, you guys rock. Will definitely recommend you to others.

Miguel came to look at air conditioner today because I had a whistling in it. Turns out the door wasn't on right. He found the problem in about 5 min. Thanks Miquel!!! You rock!!!

I have not received any response from Shavitz even after talking to the CEO... the email below is self evident, and was in response to an inquiry by Sevan from Shavitz. We have heard nothing from the company:

We have been quite pleased with service and relationship with Shavitz up until this recent past visit. Since we were out of the state all winter and just returned a week and half ago, we had not obviously scheduled our a/c maintenance. However, within just a couple days of being back we realized our a/c was not even working. I called to schedule an appointment to have someone come and take a look at why a/c was not working (only a few years old) as well as to perform our regular maintenance. I was told by I believe Linda, if the problem of why a/c was not working was something that would have been caught during regular maintenance then we would NOT be charged for service call. As it turned out, when Shavitz serviceman went to yard where a/c unit is, the fuse or something of that nature, was not even connected/inside (not sure how the structure works but I'm sure your service ticket will reflect correct terminology). In any case, this must have been sitting like this since our fall service which must have been sometime in September (the 19th) since we left for Florida at the end of the month. However it is that it came to not be attached, is clearly something that would have been found by service tech during a regular maintenance call.

I do not feel we should have been charged for this service call and yet the technician insisted that he had no say so but had to bill us and that we could call the office. I did call and spoke to Linda who said she didn't have the authority to make the change and that she would talk to whoever she needed to speak to and get back to me. I have NOT heard back from her. I am very disappointed in the level of communication and would appreciate resolution.

Great service! The technician who came to my home was polite, knowledgable, flexible and patient with all our questions. Following the appointment the office called and walked me step-by-step how to program my thermostat to optimize its settings based on my needs. Thank you!

Excellent service with this company. Seamless process from scheduling appointment all the way to service completion. We had to get our multiple HVAC units cleaned up and we were given clear instructions on what to expect, how long it would be expected to take, how much it would costs, etc.. It was very easy to schedule the appointment, easy to contact the company service center when we had some clarifying questions, and the representative was super responsive (I got all I needed to know with 2 email exchanges, all within an hour of the start of business).
Our technician Shawn was friendly and very professional. He did a quick assessment of our units and gave us his diagnosis immediately, did an excellent job with the cleanup, was careful not to leave a mess around the HVAC units, and quietly went about his business quickly and efficiently.

Jose came to our condo for our annual air conditioning service. He was perfectly on time and very professional throughout the entire visit. We happen to be experiencing several furnace/ AC issues all at once, so some of the bad news that Jose delivered, cause me a little grief. However, I am appreciative of how he explained the issues, and provided several solutions. He walked me through the cost of each solution, and the pros and cons of each. He also scheduled an appointment for us to speak to a project manager about our options in more detail. We plan to continue to use Shavitz for all of our HVAC needs, and continue to recommend their services as well.

I called Shavitz to obtain a 2nd opinion for a major purchase and installation. I ended up accepting their bid, having the work done quickly and professionally, and finding out that my previous maintenance was negligently and unsafely performed. The Shavitz team, from initial telephone call to Project Manager to installation team, provided me with intelligible information, creativity, patience and expertise.

and what to do--when he came 12/11/19 for a regular service call at my place.
Explanations were clear and understandable to someone like me who knows
nothing about AC and heating- How is channeled and flows through the system
and what adjustments are possible or not...especially when you live in a multi-
level structure where temperatures are difficult to keep stable! fro my next service call!

We had Shavitz install a new air conditioner/furnace after having an excellent experience with them a few years ago. We were again pleased with the whole process. Cosmin and Hozey were on time, polite, careful workers who did a great job of installing the systems and cleaning up after their work was done. They were friendly and considerate in explaining their work. I'm now enjoying my cool house! Thanks guys!

At first I thought that Shavitz was a good firm. That their repair people were friendly as were the folks who I called to schedule repairs with. I thought they did a pretty good job. Until now...

We had Shavitz out at the house last December, 2017 as part of a maintenance plan we purchased. The technician (Henry) came to the house and told us our humidifier for the furnace was not on, and that he needed to connect a water supply to it so that the house didn't dry out during the cold winter months. Makes sense. So he came back, piped water to the humidifier, turned it on, and voila. So far so good.

Fast forward to October this year. Our tenant notices water pooling on the carpet near the furnace. So I call my plumber to come out. Right away he notices that the humidifier (behind the furnace and not visible to the eye) is just draining water onto the wall and floor, that whoever installed it did not allow for it to drain properly- it's literally just coming out of the unit through a 1/4 inch flex tubing drain. He also notes there's a bunch of what appears to be mold on the walls in the furnace room. This has been going now for 10 months, after all. Uh oh.

Sure enough, it is mold, and the very bad black kind to boot. We get a mold remediation company (Mold Solutions- look them up- they are 5 STAR!!!) to run tests to determine where the mold is (right next to the humidifier, doh!) and they work to clean up all the mold. Mold that was caused by the professional negligence of Henry the Shavitz technician.

So how does Shavitz respond to this? By admitting they screwed up and offering to cover at least some of my costs (exceeding $6,500 now!!!) ? No way. Eric the service manager doesn't return phone calls, emails, nothing. And to think I'm still on their maintenance plan! So I'm taking my case to Yelp (and to small claims court) so hopefully other people are aware of my experience before using these guys.

The bottom line is, if you call yourself a professional company, you have to abide by professional standards. I.e., if you connect water to a humidifier, you have to allow for it to drain into something that's not the floor/wall. Otherwise it's professional negligence. Not to mention just plain stupid.

Cornelius was extremely helpful in diagnosing issues and servicing our geothermal unit. He has spent a significant amount of time finding cost saving fixes as well as giving us advice on how to save in the future. His service has been invaluable.

David performed routine maintenance on my boiler. He showed me before and after pictures of the cleaning. He also gave me an estimate for additional work to consider and answered my questions.

Had my yearly maintenance performed on the heating system. The serviceman was prompt and very thorough. A real pleasure to deal with him and his company.

Shavitz is by far the best company to go to for all things HVAC. Our furnace and AC unit were way overdue for an update. I received quotes from a few companies, however Shavitz was clearly the most knowledgeable. Will took the time to inspect our home and make recommendations that were specific to our needs. While some companies provided a quote after a few minutes of looking at our equipment, Will spent almost an entire hour explaining the different options and going through all of my questions. He even made calculations to help decide what size furnace would be best for our place, which ended up saving us money since he discovered that our existing furnace was to large for our place. I texted multiple times between our initial visit and the installation day and he responded immediately each time. Will was even present on installation day. Mirek and Linas were responsible for installing our new furnace and AC unit and they truly are the Dream Team. Not only were they professional and extremely nice, but they took their time to make sure everything was installed properly. They were nice enough to clean up the mess left behind by our old furnace and were very careful not to damage anything during the installation process. My child happen to be home that day and they were thoughtful enough to plan to take a break during her nap so that they did not disturb her! I cannot say enough good things about Shavitz and I highly recommend them.

I don't know much about HVAC, but Peace, Cosmos, and Flax, whose pan-European names I am translating into English for clarity, seemed to be both competent and courteous, completing an HVAC and water heater replacement in the span of a long day with no disruption to my telecommuting. Embodying the best managerial principles of "shared visioning," they kept their internal debates quantitative in nature (36 vs 30, 80 vs 90) which translated into an installation respecting norms of geometric integrity, to a layman's eye. There were only minor bits of entertaining eavesdropping ("He ask you, he say he don't have, I don't have...if you do not know the answer you cannot lie.") but the high point was when I sneezed and got blessed in two different languages AT THE SAME TIME! I do in fact blessed with Shavitz.

My first contact with Shavitz Heating and Air Conditioning was with salesman Greg M. who took the time to discuss my needs in order to provide me options to make an informed decision. He took measurements, made note of sun exposure, and the number of windows. After collecting the information, he provided me with a detailed plan with options taking my budget in mind. I decided on the Mitsubishi 3 zone mini split heat pump since I have boiler heat and a flat roof, no space for duct work. On the day of installation, installers Mirek & Linas along with Greg arrived at the agreed upon time. Together they discussed the best installation approach and in fact came up with a better design with a more pleasing outdoor look and stayed within my budget. Mirek & Linas were very knowledgeable and professional and completed the job in 2 days. I am very pleased with the install and confident that Shavitz will be around if I need them.

David D. went above and beyond to ensure our furnaces were ready for Chicago's brutal winter this year. I used to have an annoying loud clap sound that came from the heater when it kicked on and one of our furnaces was failing repeatedly. He took the time to investigate our furnaces and humidifier thoroughly, diagnose, and correct all issues completely. I'll definitely use Shavitz in the future thanks to David's top notch service!

Updated: Technician came back per my request to replace the humidifier system and once again provided a friendly and professional service. He showed me what has been replaced and cleaned up after he finished. Furthermore, he talked to a manager and was able to give us a discount. I highly recommend Shavitz to anyone and will definitely use their service again.

Cornelius did. an exceptional job finding the problem in our HVAC system. We noticed a leak in our dining room ceiling on July 14th (Saturday) below our furnace on the second floor. We called ShavItz
and spoke to Brandon who was able to schedule a technician to come out that day! Cornelius arrived in the evening and spent hours discovering the issue. He advised us he would need to return to establish where the leak was coming from but was able to add refrigerant and our AC was running perfectly when he left! We recently had our gas hot water heating system preventative maintenance and inspection done. Last year when we signed our three year contract we made our first appointment we were told that it would assure us priority emergency service. our furnace went out during the winter and we were told that it would take three days to come out. the building is occupied by two ninety year old women. my aunt and her tenant were completely without heat. i explained to the scheduler the situation and was told that this was the best that they could do so i went out and changed the furnace gas valve myself. This September Shavits service cancelled our annual service appointment at the last minute. this appointment was made one year ago.. They did come out and found a problem with our furnace when the finally came out this year to service the unit eventually. The cost was what we expected but i am troubled by a followup email from the company asking me to like them on Facebook and if i refer someone to Shavitz i will receive a gift card. no one should be paid to give a good review or for referring a customer. Good service gets good reviews!

I had my first appointment with Cornelius today and my first experience with Shavitz. I was not disappointed! Cornelius explained everything clearly and was able to breakdown what needed repairing, both in the immediate and long term. I am going to request he be my preferred point of contact for repairs and regular maintenance in the future as having a both a knowledgeable and cordial technician is difficult to find.

Shavitz came and installed a new expansion tank on my boiler and replaced a pipe that was rusting on a radiator. They were courteous, thorough, and left everything neat. Highly recommend.

We've had a great experience replacing our furnace and AC with Shavitz. We got three bids, and while Shavitz wasn't quite the lowest, Rich's professionalism, flexibility and lack of BS won our business. Cosmin and Miguel, our installers were punctual, friendly and professional. They explained our whole system and made sure we didn't have any questions before they left. They left our home as clean when they arrived.

We have a complicated geothermal HVAC system and Cornelius does a great job maintaining and troubleshooting it. He is also a consummate gentlemen.

The people I spoke with in the office (Alex, then Nancy) were friendly and helpful, and they dispatched our tech quickly. They called ahead with a good amount of time, and Chris R arrived ready to work. He had the problem diagnosed quickly and despite there being some challenges with our equipment, he was able to adapt and get it working. He also identified a component that was beginning to decline, but didn't push its early replacement. He answered all of my questions (I can't help but try and learn how all this stuff works!) and also made a few suggestions for maintenance / cleaning going forward. Price was reasonable and the house is cooling down as we speak! Shavitz is a speed-dial call from now on.

I can't say enough positive things about Craig K! He was very pleasant and patient with a buzzer that didn't work and i missed him, but when contacted, returned immediately and was courteous and professional. We learned to change our furnace filters because its causing too much stain and is possibly dangerous. We are the tenants of Mark Priest and Tina Alfaro, who set up the appointment. I communicated to them immediately how great everything went and we are all very grateful. Thank you!

Shavitz has installed incorrect equipment and, after review of outside firms, been documented as creating problems with furnaces so they will be called out more installing wrong equipment and mis wiring furnaces and other fraudulent work. I've been very happy with my service from Shavitz since they replaced my furnace a couple of years ago during a holiday week. They've always been prompt, courteous and take time to explain any issues. During my most-recent visit from Shavitz for the annual furnace maintenance, the tech, Shawn B., noticed that one of my sinks wasn't sending out much water. He figured out the problem and fixed it in a jiffy. That's above and beyond!

We have been experiencing ongoing problems with our commercial air conditioning unit for nearly three years. We've had many different companies and people try to figure out the issue. We were finally lucky enough to have a service call with Eric S. He spent hours at our condo troubleshooting and diagnosing the problem, even going so far as to call the manufacturer. He was finally able to figure out the cause of the problems and repair it. Without his skill, experience, knowledge and dedication, we would still be stuck in the same situation. He is the best!
