I am 40 years old and have dealt with insurance companies my entire life. I was born with a very super rare genetic condition which requires lots of specialized hospitalizations and medicine. Select health stands head and shoulders above Blue Cross of Idaho above tuffs healthcare of Massachusetts. Above Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Massachusetts and above fallon community care in Massachusetts of these for insurance companies select health is hands-down the most responsive. The lowest hold times to speak to a human. And has made me overall feel like I am an important customer to them even though I know that by covering me they are losing tens of thousands of dollars a year. I would recommend select health insurance to everybody and anybody who wants to be treated individually and fairly. The services are almost so good I am scared to refer people in, in case they get too busy and turn into one of those other terrible health insurance companies. My hat goes off to select health somehow they have managed to make me feel like I am calling a neighbor every time I need to deal with a prior Auth., an unwanted hospitalization, Or just changing my equipment to test my levels. Great job

Select Health has become a very important partner in managing my health care, and whenever I have had a simple question or needed help with my policy they are quick to answer my call and followed up if needed. I really appreciate the level of service they give me and it s great to have them as my choice for coverage! Thanks so much for all your help and being there when I need you.

I spoke with Mackenzie Goldrup regarding applying for a healthcare plan (lost coverage due to a Life Event). The call was quite long. Mackenzie was very patient, kind and highly knowledgeable when explaining the different plans. She answered my questions (which were few due to her thorough explainations). She is an extraordinary person, easy to relate to with low pressure. I feel confident in stating my remarks due to having spoke to four different insurance representatives over the last 10 days, who lacked the integrity Mackenzie obviously possess. It was a pleasure dealing with her on all levels. Many thanks to Ms. Goldrup. I will be selecting a Select Healthcare Plan in the next day. Many thanks!

I'm happy with SelectHealth. They have a very large selection of providers to choose from and the benefits are easy to understand. My son has a very expensive medication and the generic was no longer available. They helped me find vouchers and pharmacy assistance to help me money.

We recently became members with Select Health, right in the middle of a "falling through the cracks" scenario when our doctor relocated, a big shift in new medications became critical, and a new, serious health issue emerged. I am so incredibly impressed with the level of kindness, support, and genuine concern we have received from every department we have encountered. Jamie spent 2 days on the phone navigating prior authorization *on our behalf* with a less than responsive interim doctor. Others have helped me understand our medications, helped me track down good medical providers, and research appeals processes as may be needed. I realize there is training & coaching that goes into customer care & service. It is a credit that everyone I've worked with does not *sound* coached. They sound genuine & truly interested in the well-being of my family, AND back that up with their actions. Thank you!

I have had health insurance and never needed it but I was in a bad accident where I was hospitalized for a month in Feb 2015. I had over $250k in medical and didn't have a single problem with any of the claims being paid. Because of the level of service I received from SelectHealth it's one of those situations where you'll be a customer for life. Hands down the best.

This is no longer health insurance--it is JUNK INSURANCE. My deductible is now $6,600 on top of a nearly $400 per month premium for ONE PERSON, not a family. Now Select Health is sending me a $90 bill for a co-pay on a tetanus shot that was part of my yearly physical. The law forbids this as it should be part of the no co-pay physical and part of the ten essential benefits. Yet I am certain they are pushing "the (billing) envelope" because they think they have a friend in the White House. Select Health is now joining the dubious ranks of junk insurers. I am filing a complaint with the insurance commission. It will go nowhere, I know. But these jerks need a wake up call. Thank you for showing me the way to single payer politicians who I will now exclusively vote for.

We had a huge bill that was left for us to pay because of insurances fighting over who was going to pay. Wendy went above and beyond to help me figure things out so we could get our bill paid. I talked to numerous people at the hospital and our other insurance and she was the only person that was willing to do the work to figure it out. She deserves a raise!!!! Thank you Select Health for having such nice hard working employees!!!

I have been insured with many insurance companies, and I have found SelectHealth to be the most helpful when it comes to patient and doctor engagement and friendly and helpful customer services representatives.

I love their MyHealth website. Having the ability to correspond with my provider, look up lab and imaging test results has helped become more educated and engaged in my medical decisions.

I will do my best to always have SelectHealth insurance, whether it is through an employer sponsored plan or an individual plan.

Aweful experience with select health. We were signed up for coverage and then they decided not to cover my daughters birth. We fought for months for coverage and no one even knew what was going on or why she wasn't covered. We got different answers from everyone we called. There was never just one person to talk to and we had to call different offices all over the US. We will never go with select health again. They didn't listen to what we said and they ignored our requests. They make everything so complicated you just want to give up. Also they suddenly knocked me off the plan because hey decided I wasn't an American citizen (?!) even bought they had all my documents.

Select Heath is the best insurance I ve had. Every time I call, a patient specialist helps walk me through my specific plan and helps answer all my questions. Gage was extra helpful when speaking with him today & I appreciate his help.

During my first call to them a year ago, I was told that as I was recently enrolled under my spouse's employer-medical plan, they don't have to pay any claims submitted as they are no longer considered primary insurers. I explained that my coverage was, at best, minimal due to my spouse was working overseas and that the company insuring him was overseas also. I was told that Select Health can make any decision that they want to make and I just need to accept it. For the past year, I have really struggled with getting medical care due to having little insurance coverage, even though I am under Medicare. My inclusion under my spouse's plan ended earlier this month due to policy changes beyond our control. The cause of my frustration with Select Health is this: They have received monies from my government/Medicare program during the past year, but have denied all claims submitted to them. During today's phone call, I was told that I could not dis-enroll from the plan as it is past open enrollment time. I explained that a family status change existed and that I am no longer enrolled under any other plan. I now have to wait two weeks for a form to arrive which I need to complete and return to them, including a handwritten letter stating my reason for requesting dis-enrollment and, also enclosing a copy of my spouses HR paperwork to prove the change in status before they will dis-enroll me. Until they process the completed paperwork I send to them, I will have no insurance coverage at all and they will continue to be paid monies from my government/Medicare program.

Most abysmal customer service I've experienced. After setting up automatic payments we left the state for work. Upon returning home we discovered that our sons policy was canceled for non-payment. We even spoke with Select health while away and no mention about owning money or a pending cancelation. One girl, Jessica was extremely helpful in trying to get the issues resolved, but in the end despite not being informed of our account status while away the policy was terminated and they refuse to reinstate service even though we are fully prepared to pay for it. SelectHealth's asinine policies win out and they forever lose our business. If you want to be treated fairly, do NOT use SelectHealth.

I have been using certain scripts that are rare for years, no matter the problems I have with the pharmacies, we all have had problems with pharmacies, on their time... I contacted Rachel at the pharmacy side of select health to come to my rescue!
I've dealt with her before, and have waited just to talk to her about my issues. She's in your corner! Her trainers, supervisors, and her fellow Co workers have been trained well, they go out and contact your pharmacy and sort out whatever issues is going on, because they are the insurance company!

She took care of everything for me, and even called me back about a concern I want aware of... Who does that? Someone who cares about their customers, face less, unknown customers.. but it's their customers and they really care!

If you looking to change insurance or get new health care coverage GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Select Value will deny coverage when you need it most!! So for $1900 a month in premium I have to pay at my age they still don't want to pay for Preventative care when you need it the most

I have RA and Select Med is refusing to pay for the medication that allows me to work and be a productive citizen. I will end up on disability because the insurance we have paid for 20 years has decided they won't pay. They are with Intermountain Healthcare but they don't care about people? You are a non profit hospital, you don't pay taxes yet you take our money but won't pay our claims when we need you?

How do you guys sleep at night?

The worst possible service, support and understanding for a patient. They always find a way to make the patient responsible for things completely out of our scope of influence or management.
Terrible at very step of the way!
Unfortunately, so many of us are stuck with using this company for so called 'health care benefits'.

We've been looking into individual insurance plans and SelectHealth has been very easy to work with. Not only did they make sure all my questions were answered but they also let me know about cost saving extras like the wellness plan, connect care, and nurse line. They helped me feel like they understood how overwhelming it was to go from employer sponsored insurance to individual insurance.

The customer service representative was very nice & understanding in a very frustrating situation. Waiting on hold was ok but am glad I got the option for a call back. Problem was solved and I am so grateful. Thank you one less thing to be stressed about.

Thank you!

Worse company to deal with! Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing! One can call 3 times with the same question and would get 3 different answers! Some operators are ever so condescending! I've had an online problem and nothing has gotten done within 3 weeks - the developer has to investigate! Seriously??? However SelectHealth is fast in taking money!! DON'T be sucked in with the glorified ads they've been putting out on TV. Totally disgusted!

Just got turned down for a back surgery I desperately need. Said not enough wrong with me, I don t know what they re reading but it s ridiculous. Why do we pay for insurance that bails when we need them, almost the first of the year there s no way I can comply with everything they want before my policy expires. Convenient huh?

Rachel was so gracious to talk me through our pharmacy dilemma and help me come up with a solution to ease my worries. She was amazing on the original call and she even followed up the next day to make sure I got everything figured out. Thanks Rachel! I feel good about the situation.

I have only had Select Health this year 2018. I was on U of U health plans and decided to switch on the Market Plan, what a huge mistake. I cannot believe how hard it is to schedule a doctors appointment. I heard great things about Select Health thru family members and yet don't understand why? I pay almost $300 a month and yet cannot not even get a doctor to see me thru Intermountain clinics etc. Took me 5 months to even get my women's check up. And yet still can't find a doctor who will take me for another check up that's needed, very frustrating. I was told since Intermountain became partnered with Selecthealth there is a short of doctors? Wow, that's great to hear. Not impressed. Waste of money!

USED to be a great company, but now deny everything, don t pay claims and don t return phone calls. Avoid this company! Seems like they are in financial trouble, or about to get bought out and trying to make their bottom line look better. Liars!

I just got my rate for 2018. I have been a client of them for over 20 years and my rate increase for a silver plan was 83% higher for 2018 as compared to 2017. I can not get help from the government in the market place and Selecthealth took my premium for the upcoming year to $3030 a month from $1,641 for last year. They also increased the deductible up from $2,500 to $3,100 for individual. I know the health care situation is complicated, but to essentially price me out of health care is criminal. I don't know how Patricia R. Richards and her organization can sleep at night doing this to good, hard working families like mine here in Utah. Please feel free to call me Patricia if you would like to discuss this with me, since I can not get a hold of you because you have created layers to keep yourself insulated from your client base.

I had a problem with my pharmacy telling me that my medication was not pre-approved when I had a letter showing it was. I called Select Health, was able to speak to a real person right away, he called the pharmacy and had it taken care of within a matter of 15 minutes or so. The gentleman was very nice and professional.

Not great to work with. Happy to overcharge and take your money. Takes 3 weeks for a refund? Shocked and dismayed at the way they operate.

Update: Select Health is still unresponsive and hasn't resolved my refund. I've gotten nothing but run around from these people. If you have an option don't buy from select health.

Update #2: finally received my refund check.. 3.5 weeks and two hours of call time after they said it would arrive. I was lied to and told multiple different stories about why my refund was taking so long. Miles the supervisor in premium billing got caught in his lie and was quite frustrated with me because I trapped him in his lies. Dont promise things you cannot deliver on Miles. Also funny that the fastest response i got was the generic owner reply on Google reviews with their customer service number attached. Select health you SUUCK!!!

They denied my claim, again, with my maxophillo surgeon who has been treating jaw spasms and open locking that included a manual reduction under anesthesia to get my jaw back into place.

My premium and deductible are both ridiculously priced for them to deny the claim, over and over again.

I may as well not have insurance at all at this point.

Apparently the jaw isn't an important part of the body, it just facilitates breathing, eating and speaking.

I will make sure everyone knows to steer clear of select health and imc hospitals.

The insurance industry is a scam.

Advocates are a joke. I called them because was in need to therapy and told them I have free therapy with my insurance. I'm on my wife plan as she works for your company. They never asked any questions and I thought they connected me with the right people. I didn't know until after the fact they paired me with a therapist that was not the free therapy included in the plan. They advocate never bothered to ask any questions to find out I was on the employee program. I didn't think I had to or know I need to. I thought it was their job to know my benefits and direct me. After paying the therapist I filed a complaint with select health and was denied reimbursement for the therapy based on the fast I should have know in section 5 of the employee benefits handbook it out lined it all. One its my wife that works there and two I have never even heard of the hand book. Also because the people I needed to contact was not the advocates, and they said the therapy number was on my benefits card. As it is I guess, but no one bother to tell me until after it was too late. So are they advocates, maybe just not for me. That fact they misled me and when I asked for them to own up to it all they do is place the blame on me. What a joke. If you want to pay me the $190 I will still take it but I doubt anyone cares.

They still rock!!! The fact they'll pay 80% for my husband's allergy serum shots without first meeting a deductible is incredible!!!

I had Select Health insurance growing up and have it again now. They have always been amazing! Always so kind, caring and fast! I've had to have my Pharmacy call them when I wasnt able to get a 90 day supply, and they were so fast to get everything fixed!

I work for Select Health so thought I knew what I was talking about when my Pharmacy would not fill my 90 day supply I don't know my insurance covers it well I called the pharmacy here at Select Health and the pharmacy tech I talked to was very helpful and actually in for me that I have to use an IHC facility to get my 90 day supply then he told me about this wonderful thing called Pharmacy delivery where all I have to do is sign up and they said my 90-day supplies to me through the mail and it says me to have to go to the pharmacy each month and it could read my house and it's only the cost of my copay and I would normally pay even I picked it up at a pharmacy so I appreciate that very much and information and it made a big difference thank you very much. I wish I could give zero stars for select health.

I wish I could give zero stars for select health.
I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and the pharmacist said that I was a delinquent pay.
I just said to him, my payment was made on last Friday night , how come they can say that????
I has been trying to deal with select health for 2weeks and no answer, now they are charging the monthly premium, almost $600,00 with no notices, after 2 months that a has been pay my monthly, this is just ridiculous.
They don t send you a notice and just cancel your police.
I do have some medical condition they shouldn t do that, actually they send me a bill from granger of $607,00 they are not pay a least 50% off from my bills.
This is a shame select health, I never has been late on my monthly payment.

I've had a great experience with Select Health, and I've had quite a year. I had a complicated delivery and was hospitalized for a week. ER visit. Digestive issues needing $1k antibiotics. I had to appeal the automatic denial of the prescription but they approved me even though I had met my OOP Max. I have a selectmed gold plan. It's pricey (thanks obamacare) but it has been worth it.

Way to expensive. I feel there is no coverage. They have unrealistic standards for deductibles, and all that. When I had PEHP my deductible was only $500, and I only had to pay my copays. Select Health only cares about making money, not their clients.

Checked ahead of time to make sure that we would have flu shot coverage at Walgreens. Waited for upwards of an hour for insurance approval to be done. Then insurance company told Walgreens that two of my children were not covered for flu shots. No explanation why even though rest of family is covered. Customer service rep could not get it fixed or figure it out. Even after we checked ahead of time that we were all covered we get this. Unacceptable.

Loved Select Health up until this year when I realized how much they raised my insurance premium. I expected a price increase, but not that much! I had to swith to a different carrier. As did just about everyone I know.

Today I worked with a young man, that was extremely sensitive and empathetic to my needs filling out the forms necessary for a transition health policy.
He walked me through each step and was not rushed, or irritated to spend the time with me. Select Health has done a great job in hiring and creating a culture that cares. Kudos to you!

They let my coverage lapse without so much as a phone call. Did not realize my automatic payments were not going through until 6 months later. Had no idea that I was without coverage for a considerable amount of time. I would think if they weren't getting payment and were about to cancel coverage, that would at least warrant a call.

Edit: SelectHealth reached out and made things right by re-instating my coverage. I have had a good overall experience with selecthealth the whole time I have been using them, so do feel they are deserving of 5 stars.

Let's be honest, nobody wants to deal with health insurance. We've been very fortunate with Selecthealth. The fact that they actually listen when we call and really do try to help by finding solutions or letting us know exactly what steps need to be taken. They treat us like real people and not just a number or inconvenience.

I am looking for family health insurance and spoke with Ashley. She did a fantastic job walking me through the SelectHealth website and answering all my questions. I am very pleased. Great job Ashley!

I contacted you on 11/13/2017 about you going back...

I contacted you on 11/13/2017 about you going back and recouping money paid from claims both this year and last. I was told that there was an error in my file where you entered I was eligible for Medicare (I'm 30 and not disabled). After bringing it to your attention, I was told the error has been corrected and that you will re-process and re-issue payment for all of my medical claims for this year and last. Here we are over a week later and absolutely nothing has happened. Not a single claim has been re-processed! Now I'm receiving medical bills from every medical provider I've seen in the past 2 years; to the tune of $20,000+ dollars worth of medical bills. What am I supposed to do? Pay and hope they refund correctly? I don't have $20,000 to pay these! If I don't get them taken care of quickly, I'll be sent to collections for an error that was not my fault whatsoever. How fair is that? Thank you very much for ruining my holiday season.

UPDATE: SelectHealth has reprocessed the claims (took 3 weeks), after having to contact them 4 times. Unfortunately, all of my doctors for the past 2 years have already resubmitted new claims (duplicates now being denied) and then sending me bills for the total amounts. I'm still receiving random bills in the mail, and now, 30 days overdue notices. FML. Luckily, this happened around open season so I have already switched to another carrier next year.

Is this how my 2018 health plan will be? I hope not. I have been waiting for ID cards for a month now. My daughters prescriptions are to expire tomorrow. Every time I call customer service they claim they have ordered ID card AND I will be able to print them within a few hours. Nope! Now I have to schedule another doctors visit so they can write new prescriptions. What's wrong with 24 hour customer service for a multi billion dollar NET company? What's my daughter to do tomorrow?
Update! They just hung up on me because I'm upset about their poor performance.
Update V.2 My ID Card was emailed to me the very next morning. Unfortunately it took a lot of frustration and complaining to get my card but in the end they heard me and made it right.

We have a medically fragile son and have dealt with a lot of insurance reps over his lifetime. We recently had an issue that was incredibly complicated to resolve and figure out. Mandi from Selecthealth was by far the most intelligent, dependable, compassionate representative I have ever dealth with. Not only did she do her job, she also followed up to make sure everything was going well and sent us a card in the mail. All this when it wasn't even Selecthealths screw up. Thank you Mandi and thanks Selecthealth.

I'd rather try to cancel a Comcast service than deal with SelectHealth's billing department. Their billing department works less hours than my banker. Need some help from them? They'll tell you to go suck eggs.

I have never dealt with a company that cares less ...

I have never dealt with a company that cares less about their clients than Select Health. I called their customer service department regarding a bill that I received due to the fact that I seemlessly changed jobs (both companies with Select Health) and they stated that I was not covered though I had paid for coverage with my previous company through the month of January. Though the bill was only $58.78, the absolute lack of communication and terrible customer service is something that should be investigated immediately. Sad when you look at other reviews and see nothing but more complaints of a terrible company taking advantage of every single person they cover. Their uneducated executive management team must be completely oblivious on how to run a company, as they greedily focus only on profitability. Hint for you Select Health - check out how many people hate your company. That is a great KPI to measure next to your revenue/profitability dashboard.

It s not often that I need to call my insurance company, but when I do, SelectHealth has always taken care of me. I get personable people who know what I need from all areas of SelectHealth whether it s from medical claims, pharmacy, or even technical assistance. Thank you from a member who has had SelectHealth insurance since 1986, and hopefully through my Medicare years!

I have been with SH for several years and never had an issue. Last year i developed a condition that requires pain meds. I was sent an MMA in the mail. Talking with the agent and going over questions as I knew what was upcoming I felt that I had to sign this MMA or pain meds after surgeries and dental procedures would be denied. Yet almost a year into the MMA and I am still having issues with getting pain meds after seeing my dentist. Who wants to be over night after breaking a tooth with pain.

I've had Select Health insurance for years. I like that they are a stable company that has been around for a while. It's easy to give them a call and get help, if your not in the right department they can transfer you to the right people. Everyone I've talked to has been friendly and helpful.

I have been with SelectHealth for years. Their representatives are always kind and knowledgeable. I never have had any problem asking them about my coverage, they're always willing to answer my questions. I recently submitted a claim request to help cover the cost of my son's cranial helmet. Since we met our deductible, they will be covering their percentage and we are elated! Many insurances won't cover the cranial helmet but I had an inkling that Select Health would because they cover most expenses. We love this insurance and would recommend them over and over to friends and family.

Customer service reps are uncaring and rude. The plan has so many exclusions and deductibles so high that they guarantee their own profit and your total cost for insurance and copays will be higher than if you didn t have insurance at all. This is a big ripoff.

One star is too many for this company, but, alas that is the minimum I can give. They decide on a whim if they provide coverage--don't waste your money on a premium because even when you pay regularly, they can put a hold on coverage for what ever they feel like without any notice. When you are stuck in an emergency situation needing health coverage, you find out from the Dr's office or from the pharmacist that they have put a hold on your account and you end up paying the cost out of pocket. The odds of being covered by Select Health at any given visit are slightly better than winning the jackpot in Vegas.

Additionally, they are hetero-centric, and have a 1950s mentality for defining families. Their forms expect people to have a mother and a father--even though there are other, legally recognized forms of marriage and families. And when you inform them of something other than a family with a father and a mother, the customer service representatives get confused.

Overall, I found Select Health terrible to deal with and they provid awful, spotty coverage. Comanies like Select Health are the reasons why we need federal regulations to keep health care companies honest.

They change how they process there online credit cards and didnt notify me what so ever of the change, which in the end made me behind on payments and then my services stopped. I will never use this company again.

My company just switched to SelectHealth. Must be cheap for them, because it is wretched for us as employees. The plan options either have out of this world high premiums for sub-standard coverage, or they have their CDHP which basically means you pay reasonable (not cheap, only reasonable) premiums, but they will not cover a dime of ANYTHING until you meet the $3500 deductible. Worst...Coverage...Ever.

I have been screwed over by this company more time...

I have been screwed over by this company more times than I can count. The most recent issue is after 5 months of trying to get my insurance policy activated, (customer service agents gave me conflicting information, my policy was lost somehow, I paid my premium but it was never activated) I found out at Instacare that my coverage was just dropped completely. I called in a fury, asking why for five months despite all of my calls this issue hasn't been fixed, and demanding that my premiums be refunded since my policy was canceled without notice, to be told I couldn't be refunded. CROOKS THIEVES AND LIARS.

This is mainly pertaining to their god awful website(s) (WHY CANT THERE JUST BE ONE) as I've not had the insurance too long. Very difficult to maneuver and use, some completely useless and unnecessary page (their help and FAQ page is laughable). I cannot for the life of me find anywhere to make a payment on my premium or set up auto bill and the pages regarding it might as well be blank they're so useless.

Irritated and frustrated with how poorly designed their website(s) are.

I needed to get approval for a larger prescription than what is typically allowed by insurance in order to cover my time while on deployment overseas. Ashley was a HUGE help to get me what I needed in lightning speed. She worked both with my local pharmacy and my doctor's office to facilitate the adjustment to my prescription, and getting it filled. I can't say how grateful I am!
