I was thinking of changing pharmacies but wanted to check the prices first. The associate helping me was very kind, patient and gracious. She took the time to look up all my medications and check the price at the new pharmacy. Excellent service!!

Select Health charges more than what the marketplace states will be the premium. When I got the marketplace involved several times, then select health agreed that they overcharged me. At this point Select health said that the marketplace said I was a smoker and that's why my premium was higher. Still disputing 9 months of over charges. Spent more than 8.75 hours on the phone. I think they give the run around so much hoping you will give up. Call up an 6pm and there open till 8pm, told that the supervisor is gone for the day. more run around.

Terrible insurance! Liars too but they ll make you out to be like you re lying or you re dumb. I d give zero stars if I could. One of their representatives lied to me and said some of my son s medical claims were being covered but they actually weren t now I m $2,000 in medical debt. I tried to get an appeal even explaining the phone call where their representive told me it would be covered of course they have no record of it. Don t trust them! Go somewhere else if you can. If you re able to record your phone conversation with them on your end do it. Call me naive I thought I could trust a company that claimed to care about their clients. I guess they re right, I am pretty dumb. They re lying, thieving crooks though. I rarely leave bad reviews I even made a google account just so I could leave them a bad review. I will never, ever go through them again and I will tell everyone else not to go through them either. Lord forgive me but sincerely wish this company gets shut down!

Over multiple years, and various issues and phone calls, I have always been given exceptional support and service with Select Med. We feel so blessed to have this insurance company. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly, and are fluent in their departments of expertise. I even received a thank you card from one that expressed appreciation to me for being their customer. When I've had troubles (at my own fault for not preauthorizing a procedure), I have been given great compassion and support in knowing how to dispute claims. These people are so about people and not their bottom line. I hope they stay in business forever!

Pay almost a thousand dollars a month to Select Health for health insurance for my family. We felt it would keep us from paying a lot out of pocket for services because we have a special needs child. I recently had a procedure done. They covered the endoscope, but would not cover the anesthesia bill. What insurance company covers the procedure but does not cover the anesthesia? Find another insurance company. Definitely not worth the money. Terrible customer service too.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! YOU WILL END UP PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS! I switched insurances, but my pharmacy accidentally billed Select Health for six months, and they paid for all six months even though I WASN'T COVERED UNDER THEM. Then, they made me pay them back what they paid the pharmacy, which was $600! The worst part is, after posting this on my personal Facebook, I heard countless stories about other people having the same thing happen to them. Select Health is careless and unorganized, and when they make mistakes they do not take responsibility and make their customers pay for it. Seriously avoid them unless you want to pay hundreds for their mistakes. You've been warned!

To have decent coverage we would have to pay more than our mortgage. So instead we have what we can afford which includes outrageous deductibles and very little coverage. My son is a baby and hearing aids are not covered. Let that sink in. Hearing aids are not deemed necessary for children (or anyone for that matter). They will tell you that they have a discount plan but they don t help you navigate any of that. For a mid-level hearing aid you are paying $2000 per ear out of pocket that cannot be reimbursed or used toward your deductible. Very disappointed in this company. They definitely don t operate by the values they claim they have.

The worst insurance plan I've ever had (despite th...

The worst insurance plan I've ever had (despite their great customer service). I signed up for a health savings account with my employer because it was the most "affordable", never mind monthly premiums have gone up nearly 40% in the last year through our employer-I'm a school teacher.

With no spare money to contribute to the HSA and my employer not putting any in after the first year I was left essentially without going in the hole each month AND having to pay out of pocket for any medical care!!!! I was paying $400 monthly premium for me and my kids. My yearly deductible was $5000. Which means in order for HSA to cover anything, or 80% I have to meet that deductible. If you do the math that is 12 months times $400 per month PLUS my $5000 deductible. It's a freaking joke, robbery, racket is what it is. I WAS ESSENTIALLY PAYING THEM MONEY TO GO IN THE HOLE AND THE ONLY THING GOING TOWARDS MY DEDUCTIBLE WAS MY OUT OF POCKET HEALTHCARE COSTS.

Here's the math again. 12 months times $400 per month is $4800 I'm paying them in monthly premiums-thanks Obamacare! None of these go towards the $5000 yearly deductible. So there I am paying $4800 for the year and getting ZERO coverage because my $5000 deductible hasn't been met and to add insult to injury I'm paying out of pocket for every medical care visit. THIS IS INSANE. I was flabbergasted when I found out this situation and of course Select Health customer service could do nothing.

two years and counting. CANNOT get any help for my diabetes at all oh Ive called there so called customer service and there main insurance building to no avail. always give me sample meters but wont cover test strips or lancets or a sharps container or alcohol wipes for testing. gives me 5 days of insulin if im lucky and calls it a months supply. i seriously am ready to sue this company to get the benefits i need. wonders if the state of Utah or Medicaid would consider it fraud to give 5 days and bill for a 30 day supply? am ready to contact them too. i may lose my membership but at least ill finally get some answers. the doctors, dietitians and others don't know there butt from a hole in the ground. next chance i get to swap insurances im out of here. if your diabetic they wont help you at all. well at least me they wont
calling is useless, seeing people in person is useless. overall its a zero star facility

SelectHealth is such a great insurance company and the best one I have ever been with. Their customer service is better than any other insurance company, and they are open extended hours which is great if you need help after work. They also have chat options on their website which is always a life saver when I don't have time to call.

If it were possible, I would give them ZERO STARS. THIS IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF WORKING WITH. They dropped us the MONTH that our baby was born! We added our child to our medical insurance plan, (they tried to add her to our dental plan and we had to explain to them that she was a NEWBORN baby and DIDN'T HAVE TEETH) when our bill came and was DOUBLE what we were supposed to pay, they gave us the run-around for a month until finally just dropping us. They have refused to work with us and now we are having to pay IN FULL for our baby who should have been covered under them. DO NOT GET YOUR INSURANCE THROUGH THIS COMPANY. Unless you:
A) want to pay out the nose to take care of your newborn's dazzling toothy grin
B) LOOOVE spending hours on the phone getting passed on from one brainless idiot to another like a freaking hot potato or
C) love flushing your money straight down the toilet.
Then be my guest.

I have tried other Insurances but they all wanted to charge an exorbitant price that no one can really afford. I give a Huge thumbs up to Select Health for caring enough for the people that really need them. I will continue to use Select Health!

Had a policy here for my family for a few years until my husband got insurance from his company for my kids and himself. I tried to get a new individual policy and was denied because I didn't have my children covered by it. They don't sell individual policies to women unless they get enough money out of you!

I had Select Health in 2014 and found that they had been purchased by a company traded over the NY Stock Exchange. My coverage totally changed and if I had not check all of my meds for my COPD would not have been covered. I changed my coverage and spoke to some knowledgeable people in the insurance business and was informed not to sign with a company that has stock holders. If the stock is down they change the coverage so they meet the stockholders demands. This is totally wrong when it comes to its clients. We are the ones who get taken advantage of. So far I have only found 3 or 4 companies that do not have affiliation with stockholders and are member owned.

I typically don't write reviews, but Select Health has really been amazing for us this year. This year we have had insane medical bills because I needed to have heavy monitoring for my pregnancy for eight weeks at the hospital, I gave birth to two high-risk twins that were in the NICU for seven weeks, and we also needed to diagnose and help my other son with autism-related therapy services. I'm only giving them 4 out of 5 stars here because a couple of times I heard inaccurate information from one representative, but outside of that they have been quick, helpful, and everything has come through exactly as expected. Our plan has saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars. They've even helped advocate for us when a couple of providers billed us incorrectly, and they made sure everything was covered. We would have been sunk without our insurance plan this year, and I'm seriously grateful.

They are fantastic. They don't require Dr. Referrals for specialists, their member services are great and once you've met your deductible you pay minimally(or if you have a high deductible plan you pay nothing after you've met it no matter what) I have a smaller plan for me and my husband and we've been seeing a fertility specialist, even with our small plan they cover quite a bit. I love Intermountain Health Care and their attentiveness to patients so this is great for me.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
The wait time wasn't long. But their staff doesn't know how to do their job! I was inquiring about a claim that had already been paid, and was told that it was not covered at all. It wasn't a matter of coverage, clearly, it was just a question of amounts. I asked for a supervisor and was told that they couldn't transfer me, but that they would "relay the message".

Have PTSD? they won't cover that diagnosis! What else will they conveniently not cover? I am a provider... 17 sessions later, plus multiple re-billings, time and effort only to learn treatment for PTSD is not covered...I guess War Veterans, abuse/trauma survivors don't count. I am furious with SH and am cancelling network participation immediately. Before you sign up for SH coverage, ask about behavioral health to be sure your diagnosis is not excluded.

My review is specifically for Ashley in the Pharma...

My review is specifically for Ashley in the Pharmacy customer care department of SelectHealth. After having to fill a few prescriptions for pain medication from two new prescribers at two different pharmacies during the COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated me going to a different dentist and endodontist than I normally see to treat a complex and excruciatingly painful dual root canal, my account was flagged for possible medication misuse and I was sent a mandatory contract to sign with my primary care physician. The letter I received from Select Health stated that failure to complete this contract would result in termination of my health care insurance.
I certainly would have preferred to go to my usual in-person pharmacy at Costco rather than using the drive-through pharmacy at Walgreens (for which there was a long wait). I also would ve preferred to have seen my regular dentist and gone to an endodontist here in Salt Lake rather than having to go to Bountiful to see the only available endodontist in the entire valley Who was willing to come in to do you oral surgery on my two root canal s during this pandemic, but unprecedented times call for innovative measures. While I I feel that receiving the threatening letter from SelectHealth via UPS on a Saturday and the threatening message it contained was both punitive and draconian in nature, and failed to take into account my personal circumstances at a highly unusual time for all of us, I am still leaving five stars because of the resolution of this matter through Ashley. I initially called and talked to a representative in the pharmacy department at SelectHealth who was rude, condescending, and dismissive. I tried to resolve the issue with him without becoming escalated or reciprocating his unfair treatment, but at a certain point, I did request to speak to a supervisor at which point he promptly disconnected the call. Frustrated and confused, I called back and was connected with Ashley. She listened patiently, she made sure she understood my concerns, she empathized with my unique situation, and she promised to take this matter to her direct supervisors and the whole pharmaceutical customer care team to seek a prompt resolution. She did just that, and after advocating on my behalf, she called me back the following day to tell me that she had met with the team and they had decided to rescind the behest for me to sign the contract. I thanked her and she went on to apologize to me for my experience, thank me for bringing it to their attention, and sincerely wishing me well. She is an exemplary employee and person. Select Health is fortunate to have her. They could use an entire customer care staff just like her.

I would give them zero stars if I could! Sad really! I've had select health for years and even though their billing got messed up and the marketplace kept changing the premiums I stayed until I was approved for Medicare. In May 2018 they canceled December 2017 insurance for my family! And billed me for my expensive medicine! They told me I was a delinquent payer. So I've paid by bill pay all along and in August premiums changed. November reverted back to original premium. So November 15th they sent me a letter. December I paid and somehow was still $10 short but I never got a December 15th reminder. I did get a letter saying my contract was closed effective Dec 31st 2017. I've tried to make it right but the communication is so bad over there. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. No resolution from them. It's now August 2018 and I just got a letter that they are sending me to collections. So I called and there was zero updated notes that Medicare is actually paying them. Its convoluted! I know insurance is crazy right now but Select Health is the worst for sure!

I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews. I love Select Health. I've never had any issues with them. The customer service is quick and super friendly. I had a doctor send my lab work to an out of network provider by accident and got a bill for $750 just for some blood work. The doctor's office wouldn't do anything for me but Select Health covered the whole bill as a courtesy. They've been really great. A little on the pricier side but all insurance is unbelievably expensive now (Thanks, no thanks, Obama!!).

Went and got my free preventative annual physical with IHC covered under select health. They covered most of it but the doctor billed me for talking about nutrition on top of the annual physical. Wow didn't know I was going to get a bill for talking about nutrition for 10 minutes during my physical. Very tacky to me and seems like they push to make money. Unfortunate. You can't go to a preventative screening and talk about anything othewise you'll get billed.

Probably the worst company to deal with. Not only would they not provide coverage when they received a premium they decided to go back on their agreement with me and charge me back for the valid claims they authorized months ago. Every person you talk to has a different story. They lie, cheat, and steal. The number one reason insurance companies are hated is because of low blows like this. I canceled my policy with them and will never to business with them again. Do not believe a word they say and defiantly do not believe their Explanation of Benefits they send out because its a lie.

Terrible company! I had a great plan in 2014 that only had co-pays that would count towards my deductible, when 2015 rolled around I decided to renew the same plan I had only at a slightly higher premium, because I liked the plan. They neglected to tell me that the plan had changed and that I would now have to pay my deductible BEFORE I could use my copay as fate would have it I got major sick and had to see a bunch of doctors, when I got my bills I called them to ask what was going on and they would pass the buck to the healthcare market place and would not even take responsibility for THEIR policy! They wouldn't even acknowledge the change that had occurred in my policy. The healthcare market place said the same thing and that it was not their decision to change things like that. I cancelled my plan and went elsewhere and bills are still showing up. THEY ARE SNEAKY, take your money elsewhere.

Despise Select Health. Apparently preventative car...

Despise Select Health. Apparently preventative care is just not high on their list of priorities. And their customer service is terrible. I just tore my ACL and had surgery. First surgery in my life time. I've had two children, both normal deliveries. Our family of four is very healthy and fit. The only time we use insurance is when we are sick. Or, in my case recently, injured. Select health actually has plans that puts limits on therapies. Any kind of therapy. Thing is, everyone heals at a different rate, how can you put limits on that? So, I had 10 initial visits. Then I had to get a scrip for 10 more. Apparently 20 is our insurance plan's max. So now I have to appeal. They drug their feet in telling my PT office that, and I just used my 20th visit. I found out today that now I have to appeal, so no more visits for me until they approve it. I am at 110 degrees bend, doing everything I can at home, and keeping all my PT appts. I followed every post op instruction. I am just healing slower and have developed some scar tissue that is limiting my mobility. If I don't get PT then I will have to either 1) be put under and have my knee forcefully bent, which will entail daily PT afterwards 2) Cortisone shot, and more PT. It would stand to reason, that just making sure a patient gets proper care until they are 100% better would be the best decision. Their customer service rep was super rude on the phone, which didn't help how irritated I was already feeling.

I'm inclined to think that the corruption is more ...

I'm inclined to think that the corruption is more in the healthcare industry than in the insurance business. I'm not going to get started on my tirade about healthcare in this country here in this comment box--I'll just say that the insurance is insurance, about what you'll get anywhere, but virtually essential here in Utah, because they're the only ones who cover the IHC resources. Anyway, I am inclined to like them because it's always very easy to talk to a pleasant human over the phone and resolve my concerns. The complaints in the comments here mostly seem to be made by people mad over policy changes or specifics that they didn't read up on beforehand--they're willing to help you understand stuff beforehand, it's after the bill has already been sent that they can't really help you too much anymore, because regardless of what's in the contract--you signed it and it became your responsibility.

Anyway, I've avoided getting any kind of healthcare like the plague (how ironic) because I just can't afford it--my deductible is too high for it to be useful. Period. I pay the premium to follow the law, but I avoid using it at all costs. I don't think this is exactly what Obama had in mind . . . but whatever.

I have been seeing Dr. Kimball, who is my eye doctor, for years. It's a shame your company will not allow great doctors like him to participate on your plan. He is fantastic and so is his staff. Why be so restrictive to who we can see? There are not any available times with your network doctors for a routine exam for almost 2 months. That is ridiculous!! Not impressed so far. It's January 19th and I still haven't received my insurance card or any other information regarding the service that I'm paying MORE THAN MY HOUSE FOR. Seems odd that I enrolled in their service a month ago, I'm paying them a grip of money and they can't even send a welcome packet with my account basics in a reasonable time? Must be too busy swimming in money. When I try and download a copy of my insurance card from the site I get a corrupt PDF that can't be opened. If there was a way to put 0 even that would be to much credit for this company! After fully adding my 4 month old son to my plan as required during the enrollment period and even confirming that his first wellness visit of the new year was January 2nd we were denied coverage at both the doctor and the pharmacy. I called to ask how to resolve this and was informed my HR department didn't get our enrollment done. Since we are 600 plus employees and self funded I seriously doubt that's the case. I also seriously doubt that they give even the slightest care about their reviews online because they are already horrible and we are all mandated to have some kind of health coverage with only 2 options. Both are horrible and only concerned about drawing the $1000 a month premium out of our checks! If I ever come across a select health employee in need during an emergency I will be sure to pull over and watch them suffer while I enjoy a good laugh! I hope your company is found liable in every suit they face and you all go to jail!

I am really disappointed receiving the second denial in appeal for my husband s needed physician appointment. He has been going blind and his paneled eye doctor referred him to the Moran at U of U over a year ago because it was out of his scope and there really is no place like the Moran. Gratefully a year ago, all the Moran docs were approved. Despite a difficult authorization process, we were very grateful. Now, after 52 visits to try to preserve what vision he has left, and two surgeries, multiple emergent visits, and unexpected setbacks and complications, he has been referred for a follow up visit with the neuro-ophthalmologist at Moran. SelectHealth has decided now is the time to deny coverage. Their review nurses who have worked with us all along don t agree with the decision but said their hands are tied by the medical director. Gratefully it is open enrollment and he is switching insurance to a different company with rave reviews (not Select Health) so he can see his much needed physicians. I don t understand the decision though as SelectHealth wouldn t be out any more money. They only pay the Medicare allowables anyway. It just doesn t make sense and is very disappointing. I worked for Intermountain for 20 years - mostly as a director and nurse manager and have loved everything Intetmountain until now.

I went on-line to take a look at their plans and they have a $6,700 out-of-pocket limit that, I'm assuming, has to be paid for by the patient. The physician would also not take anyone under the age of 65. I'm 67 so that policy doesn't affect me. But with those out-of-pocket expenses, why even bother? They're outrageous. The United States is the only country in the Industrialized West that has no restrictions or regulations on health care costs. It's a national scandal.

I called Rosario earlier today to get a pharmacy override for a medication because I am going out of town to help a family member.

I had to call my doctor to have him change it as well.

I talked to the pharmacy and they had gotten the changes from the doctor.

So, I called back and spoke with Gage and had him double check that Select Health was going to allow me to fill it in Saturday.

Both Gage and Rosario gave me EXCELLENT customer service and treated me with a great deal of respect.

Thank you!!!

I wish I could rate in the negative. I've never been so frustrated. I just had almost $12,000 in reversed payments from treatment a year ago. I've spent literally hundreds of hours in the last five years dealing with insurance issues. It took nine months to get an answer about processing questions concerning my benefits. At least I finally had the answer to tell the workers there how to process it correctly. This last month for me had been horrible for me with $12,000 hanging over my head and family.
