One star is too many for this company, but, alas that is the minimum I can give. They decide on a whim if they provide coverage--don't waste your money on a premium because even when you pay regularly, they can put a hold on coverage for what ever they feel like without any notice. When you are stuck in an emergency situation needing health coverage, you find out from the Dr's office or from the pharmacist that they have put a hold on your account and you end up paying the cost out of pocket. The odds of being covered by Select Health at any given visit are slightly better than winning the jackpot in Vegas.

Additionally, they are hetero-centric, and have a 1950s mentality for defining families. Their forms expect people to have a mother and a father--even though there are other, legally recognized forms of marriage and families. And when you inform them of something other than a family with a father and a mother, the customer service representatives get confused.

Overall, I found Select Health terrible to deal with and they provid awful, spotty coverage. Comanies like Select Health are the reasons why we need federal regulations to keep health care companies honest.
