Their service is pretty bad. I have been trying to open my account since last 2 weeks. I uploaded all my documents and transferred 1000 dollars 2 weeks back. But since then the application keeps showing me that my document verification is under progress. Below that they have written that this process takes 1-2 business days. In my case it has crossed 10 business days.
Their support is even pathetic. Everyday I have to wait for 2 hours before I can find someone to connect with on their chat portal and then they say it will be done by tomorrow. Everyday same story. I tried calling them but the number either never connects and when it does, the automated voice say that wait time is over 2 hours. Will be exploring other brokers now as I have given up on them.

I trade stocks (long and short), ETFs and occasionally options. Part of my portfolio is managed on TDs ThinkorSwim platform and part on Questrade s IQ Edge platform. I have traded other platforms in the past, OptionsExpress, TD Direct Investing, Virtual Brokers and Scotia s iTrade. Of these, TOS and IQ Edge are the best for my purposes. TOS has more features, but IQ Edge is robust, easy to use and has lower commission rates.
IQ Edge order entry and tracking is intuitively simple and includes bracket orders which I use on every trade to place my open and stop orders at the same time. Part of my strategy is to place up to four orders on the same ETF at different prices. IQ Edge makes that a snap. I get a notification on my iPad if any of my orders are triggered, so I don t have to be near my computer all day.
Since I trade on the US market, I appreciate that Questrade is structured for both the Canadian and US markets. US markets aren t just an afterthought.
Customer telephone support representatives are friendly and knowledgeable. I rarely have to wait longer than a minute or two to be connected and to get my question answered.
Horrible wait times for phone service. Am on hold now, quoted 8 minutes and it s been 35... Otherwise, it s a decent option since Robinhood isn t available in Canada.
Low Price Low Ethics. With a positive balance, I tried to withdraw money from my account for 3 times (in a week) but I was declined for 3 times by 3 different agents for 3 completely unrelated reasons (all emails are in a single email chains). Yes, once you put money there, they will not deny its yours, but they will try their best to use whatever policy to disguise the fact that they want you money in. Because they can borrow your money to margin account holders, which creates interest. Later, I was so discouraged to get my money out, because I think they are legal fraud. The indirect loss related to their 3 "declines" is over $6000 USD. Meanwhile, a few of their internet agents are pretty friendly. I guess humble people get the lowest pay just like me. However, whoever is in charge of making an official reply or make decisions related to your account is generally not reliable. This is insane. I have never ever thought those sort of things could happen in CANADA. It makes me wonder if I am arriving the correct place on the earth. I was attracted to its cleaniess in terms of non-crimes and non-violence. But this makes me wonder if all the crimes are disguised under the mask of "law", "legal", "ethics", "rules".
It really worried me because it reminded me of the bank collapse in USA and in UK in 2008 and 2007. The bank doesn't have enough money reserved for their customers. I know that if investing in less liquidable securities might have liquidity issues, that is why I choose stocks. But I have never thought that the liquidity issue could come from a security company. The previous depression only mentioned banks but not security companies.
So far, my money is still not out yet. I am afraid that I would never dare to put my money into ANY USA security company.
One last sentence: just make them pleased and amused so that they satisfy. Otherwise, they will put their foot in your way when you are in the dark.
I was excited about the low trading commissions but it has been nothing but headaches. The customer service phone line currently has over 2 hour wait time. They never called me back when I elected to receive a call back. Their online chat option is broken... wait an hour in queue and then it freezes. Do your business somewhere else, not being able to contact a rep to take care of a business in a 6 figure portfolio is too much money to be lost.
I'm really happy that I registered with Questrade for my RRSP and TFSA. The on-line trading platform is easy to navigate. The on-line information is what I need to make good decisions. Funding my account is fast and easy. I trade like a pro quickly. The customer service team answers my questions quickly and thoroughly. I email a question at night and receive the answer the next day. That's good enough for me. Thank-you
This place is a scam. Do not, I repeat DO NOT open a margin account with them, they will charge you 8% interest everytime you buy and sell any USD stock, and they will hide this from you as best they can
THIS IS IT! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REACH OUT TO THIS AGENT WHOM I TALKED TO A COUPLE WEEKS AGO ABOUT MY ACCOUNT AND THIS AGENT HAS NOT BEEN RESPONDING TO MY EMAILS OR ANYTHING. I EMAILED HIM TWICE ON HIS PERSONAL EMAIL AND NOT EVEN A SINGLE REPLY FROM HIM. I HAVE BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THIS AGENT. IS THERE ANY WAY I COULD CONTACT THE HR OR HIS MANAGER TO TEACH THIS PERSON HOW TO ACT PROFESSIONALLY. THIS KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD NOT BE PART OF THIS FIRM. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
What about their IT? Account portal has no ssl Securitycertificat. Mobile app is not loading most of the time. How does a financial website run on http?
I've been using Questrade for several years and it has worked out well for me. I'm honestly surprised to see such low ratings here. Sure, wait times can be a bit long for online chat but I eventually get my questions resolved no problem. Service has been quite good overall and I get the impression that this company cares about it's customers satisfaction. I've transferred money in and out of my account many times with no problems. I like the trading interface a lot (the browser one, but not the IQ desktop thing). It's very clear and simple to use. Has worked well for me in both long term investing and more fast paced trading. Recently subscribed to a data package and got Active Trader pricing and I love it! Saving a lot on commission now. Margin Power, the thing that lets you leverage TFSA investments towards margin account is excellent too! Really helps me make bigger trades. However, the one thing I really don't like is how high the margin interest rates are. Right now it's around 6-8% depending on currency and amount. Way too expensive and really kills some strategies. Also the commission for options trades seems high, even with active trader pricing. I'd give 5 stars if interest rates came down a few percent and options trading was cheaper.
never heard back from them after they deactivated my trading account for almost 2 MONTHS, i keep calling them and they ALWAYS ending the call. This is so B.S!! everybody will lose their patience when you experience this kind of service. Now I know why they have very bad reviews. !!
Whilst initial set up does have some hiccups, I do know that they are helpful and will stay with you and answer your questions offering assistance until you end the chat yourself. I surely recommend them for their rates, offerings and service.
I am really disappointed with the service that I received from Questrade. I have been trying to log in to my account for the past 30 minutes with no way to get through. The online platform and the phone application both aren't working and when I try to call in I am unable to reach anyone and I am told there is a waiting period of more than 2 hours. I am losing money on the market just because I am unable to log in. This is the most frustrating experience ever, and no client should be faced with this. I understand these situations are tough and people are panicking, but to not have systems in place to trade your position in crucial time like this is inexcusable as people such as myself will be losing money because they can't connect with anyone or online and move their positions. I hope this gets resolved soon, but a truly poor experience.
My family has been a client for a number of years. Everything is decent - except the tax slips. Every year the tax slips are available late - sometimes as late as end of April. It makes tax preparation difficult. Moreover - the tax slips are often wrong! I have to 'audit' them myself, compare them to my statements - then ask for explanation - which often causes an amended tax slip to be generated. That is simply unprofessional, and the reason I would not recommend their services.
Very poor service. They will gladly take your money but good luck getting it out. In my case, they are refusing to withdraw my funds because these morons are too stupid to look at my provided identification to see that I am one in the same with my financial account.
Tried to setup an account. So many technical difficulties, took so long to setup and very poor customer service response time. Went with TD instead, much happier with them and would recommend TD over Questrade to anyone. Also saw on Reddit that they had an outage for many hours causing someone to lose out on their 50k position which is how I remembered my own personal experience with Questrade and why I wrote this review.
Adding funds to the account was Horrible. Every time I transfer money from the banks to them, there will be a significant delay and I don't know why. The most common excuse they used is "Sorry it is the policy for me to hold your funds for seven days". then its been two weeks and I still haven't got the money. Their call center always on busy tone and no one answered. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I do have account with questrade and they can recall the shorted stock anytime and you can loose lot of money without your fault so pl. Be careful as it happened with me and moving my account and they haven't any answer for that.
So many hidden fees, and charges. The Questrade representative misled me about inactivity fees, and services. They've been nickel, and diming me forever. They won't let me draw out my money, and are selling my assets so that they can pay themselves. It's a form of theft. This is a terrible company. I do not trust them whatsoever. Do not sign up with them.
Oh, and by the way, you know it's a terrible company because they (as of speaking) only reply to positive reviews. They should be responding to negative reviews, and trying to solve their customer's problems.
These guys are professional time wasters. They have no respect towards peoples time. Time is a currency in itself which in my opinion has more value than money. In starting with questrade in 2020 - they have horrible customer service. They have closed chat on me 3-5 times after an hour wait, unresponded to emails, I have waited on the phone for 1-2 hours to have someone pick up the call and then end it nummerious times. Plus they do nothing to reimburse you for the inconvenience they caused you like a respectable business would. I even have chat transcripts where the response time between each message was 8-10minutes. Hello - 10min - Hi -10min - I would like to have help with... - 10min............
Didn't have a problem using and trading on Questrade prior to 2020, but this year its been nothing but a nightmare. They seem to close one account, my deposits dissappear. Never using this company again!
The process of setting up the account took a couple days, which I thought was the long. To chat with the help line is always a 30 minute wait, but once you get talking to someone, they are fantastic and helpful. Would like to see a quicker way to transfer money. Most people's debit cards are Debit Visa and interact doesn't work with Debit Visa. The inability to deposit money quickly can cost you the chance to purchase a rising stock. It could get a better rating once I start doing regular purchases.
I've not had any substantial issues with Questrade. And I've been with them since 2012. I lost my book marks and googled to get to the site and saw the 2.5 star review average and I'm like, this isn't right so I'll try to bring it up a bit.
I got what i wanted with questrade. And that was $5 trades and the ability to hold dual currency in my accounts. At the time no one offered that. They were also the first to give me something like first 50 free trades. So their hook to me was good value.
Over time, and I've had a couple of complications and I found that when I used the email/chat system and knew my issue and provided clear instruction, they'll get a chance to go over it and get back to me usually with the issue solved. Sometimes there was some back and forth for clarification.
Horrific customer service. 10 business days later, my account is still not approved. They take your funds and make you wait weeks for approval. Tried to reach them through phone on multiple occasions without success waited today and yesterday on hold for approximately 5 hrs without getting through. Currently, Im in queue for chat going on 6hrs, still waiting for customer service to answer my queries.
disappointing wait time for customer service ...waited for 26 minutes...where automated message said wait time is less than 15 minutes to be disconnected automatically after 26 minutes.....really disappointed.
By far one of the worst customer services I have come across. Trading platform is good and competitive commission structure too but transferring funds is a nightmare. It has been more than 2 weeks since the funds were taken out of my bank account and it has still to be credited to my margin account. Customer services is very unorganized and possibly typical of organizations where the right hand does not know what the left is doing. They need one document to be uploaded and then the next day another and next day another!! Seriously thinking of switching to another brokerage with a little more customer-centric focus. Pardon the vent, what is more frustrating is that I lost on a good buying opportunity at a recent correction in the market.
Their site goes down for "maintenance" during the most critical trading period of the mornings. That is extraordinarily unscrupulous, and I have lost hundreds because of this charade.
EDIT: They have taken 3 months now to process the transfer of $30,000 back into my bank account and each time they have different excuses for why it will take another few business days.
You need to exam the statement and T3, T5 carefully as there could be errors.
Here are my $0.02:
Low commission. But you have to pay commissions on mutual fund trades. Their "free trade" promotion does not apply to buy/sell mutual funds, according to the support personnel. I learned it through hard way.
While overall service is pretty good, I experienced two big headaches regarding taxes when dealing with Questrade, and still not resolved:
1) For 2018 tax year, there are discrepancies between the T3 slips and January statements for the Canadian ETFs. Contacted the Platinum support on Apr. 3rd, 2019 (T3 was issued on Apr.. 1st, 2019) and was promised to get it addressed immediately due to it is tax sensitive. But everyday I was told "still working on it". Finally the long waited email received yesterday, but completely useless as the email reply talks about the tax on REIT, which I do not own. This is a huge issue since the tax filing deadline is approaching and my accountant may be too busy to complete my tax returns in time if the issue is not addressed by Questrade promptly.
2) Questrade statements do not show the foreign tax withholding amounts on dividends issued by foreign stocks and ETFs. Although this detail shows up on the year end T5 slips, I want to know the exact amounts when withholding happens. For the past two years the answers from Questrade Platinum support are: 1) why do you need it? (sorry I feel no obligation to explain that to you); 2) you can calculate it yourself (no, I don't want to calculate it myself as there could be rounding errors. And even it is possible to calculate the IRS withholding, it would be impossible to calculate it on international ETFs); 3) it is on T5, check T5 by yourself (yes, but not until Feb. of next year, which I don't want to wait that long); 4) we cannot tell you the tax withholding amount because ABCD (you take my money, but you cannot tell me how much you take away?). A few times Questrade emailed me the exact amounts after I insisted on by multiple phone calls, while other times I was ignored by no answer, no reply, no email.
The frustration on the tax issues with Questrade have increased to a level that I am considering an alternative discount brokerage firm.
Absolutely 5* customer service and excellent product. I do not understand why so many people find reasons to complain, but I have used other brokers for self-investing and Questrade is at least on par, but in my opinion should be considered more competitive, and better than some big brokerages in Canada.
I recommend it to anyone who is willing to do their own trading and who wants to save money, by either "Free ETF purchases" and half the price of commission trades.
They have separate customer service queue for new potential customers which will quickly respond and even provide their contact details for better communication. Once you become a customer good luck on getting in touch with someone. The wait time on the phone queue is "more than two hours" and you will typically be number 90+ in a chat queue but will always be kicked out (lost connection) once you make it to within top 20 or 30
So far so good. Fairly easy to set up, very easy to make trades. Very good trade commission prices. Good web site with easy to understand charts and tools.
Funding is a nightmare here ! I used interac online method and both times money was not deposited in my account..finally the transaction being reversed by the bank. Long wait times are not appreciated
You have the worst customer service. You have taken the funding and still do not have a running account and I'm not sure why it takes soo long to process 3 piece of documents.
They resolved the issue after two weeks and I like to update my rating to 3
Zero star if there was an option for it. Questrade is a total nightmare and I hope no one ever has to deal with them . Long story short, It took 10 days to fund my account via interac online payment (which they claim it only takes upto 1 bussiness day on their official website), and after i had enough of the bad experience, I decided to close my account and transfer the remaining balance to my bank account , this was where it got dramatically interesting, I submited the request on Jan 7th and I was told I will receive the money on 11th the latest. So I waited untill the 11th , nothing showed up on my bank account , I contacted them again, they changed the story and told me the fund will arrive on the following Monday which is the 14th , I waited and waited, on the 15th I had to contact them again and this time they started blaming/accusing me for something completely unrelated . After a long conversation, I asked them two really simple questions " when was the money sent out ?" And "when will I receive the money ?" ,initially they told me it was sent out on the 10th , a few seconds later , they changed the story once again and told me the money was sent either on the 14th or the 15th , they were not entirely sure and they said the finance department was not responding , so they asked me to wait patiently for an email which will explain what's happening. What a joke!!!!???? I took a few screenshots of those ridiculous conversations and I wish i could upload them on here. Listen guys , try to avoid questrade at all cost!!!!!
Horrible service. Put money in the account and 2 days later still nothing posted. How are you supposed to make trades when you find a good opportunity!!! If they don't fix it soon, this will be my last year with them.
I would never trust these guys with my money since they could or would not explain to me what happened to money that disappear from my account for a month.
I am waiting phone call queue for 1.5 hours as I type this. I have plenty of time to think about this review. These guys services are worst than banks. There is no schedule feature (Questrade should pay me for this idea), no chat feature (Questrade should pay me for this idea). Is this even a Financial Tech company or a traditional trading company? Especially if its run by a gold teeth CEO.
Ok Thats all I have for now. I should just stay with my bank.
I would never believed these reviews until I have lived them all in once horrific experience with this so called Canada's leading brokerage (scammers). Reading the too good to be true reviews of few happy clients, it's easy to see they are all fake.
One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, they take 1 month to reply to mails. If this is their way, How can anyone trust them with their money. Wont recommend it. They also don't disclose lot of information.
I had transferred my RBC investing a/c to Questradeand in this transfer, there were silver certificates. My account got transferred to Questrade including silver certificates during this whole process no one from Questrade informed me that Questrade won't be able to sell these certificates once it has been transferred to the Questrade.
I called them to sell these certificate and rep told me that I will have to transfer these back to another institution and then sell it and top of it I will have to pay transfer out fees too , so why you guys transferred these certificate in the first place when you were unable to trade to sell and top it you want to charge transfer out fees too.
Now I will have to go through this whole process of transferring these certificates to another institution to sell and also pay transfer out fees to the Questrade
Shady shady people...stay away as if your life depended on it. Lost thousands simply because sent them funds 10 minutes late? If you are a simple and hard working Canadian like me, trusting them with your money would be the last thing to do...
The wait times for general inquiries are long. When transferring from one chat department to another ..... there is no status updates. I waited an additional 45 mins to speak to new account department while never receiving an update. This is after waiting 40 mins to reach general inquiries. Customer service is not what they advertise!
Don't use them, it's a mistake. I lost the equivalent of 4 years of management fees by switching to them when they lost a cheque sent from my transfering institution. Use a real broker backed by a bank (now switching to one after this ordeal).
The worst customer service in the world i think it's questrqde the big winner the software is ok even if it lag a lot the pricing is ok but Interactive broker is a lot better i dont recommend to anyone this company
The worst company I had been ever used . When I tried transfer all my money from the tfsa account to my bank , the questrade just close the tfsa account by itself and it did not even remind me any informations . Omg since now I do not know where my money go .Do not use questrade!
garbage site, never experienced a forced password reset outside of a work environment, I don't need a nanny and your reset doesn't work ... endless loop so now no clue is password reset or not ???? no confirmation if changed or not, just keeps send back to same reset page ... underwhelmed, time to start evaluating competitors
Right, this platform gets a bad rap on google reviews so i thought i'd just drop in and share my experience, as most satisfied users don't go posting a google review about how nothing's gone wrong. I've been using questrade for about 3 years. small fry account of just a few thousand and... it works. Deposits work. Withdraws work. Buying and selling securities works. Access to market research is nice. It just does everything i want a trading platform to do.
What an absolute pain the ass. They will call you endlessly to fund your account but if you call them, prepare to sit on hold for a long time (if you're told 2 minutes or actually means 5+ and if you're told 9-10 minutes it'll be closer to 20-25). I'm guessing their agents are too busy calling people that don't need or want to hear from them to bother helping people that do want to talk to them. Oh and transferring a registered account? They don't tell you that they need a signed LOD until after they receive the shares you had transferred. What's an LOD? It's a Letter of Direction, though if you search either LOD or the whole thing on their site you will get 0 results which is odd since it's on the drop down list for documents to upload. It's a terrible oversight and doesn't give me a lot of trust in their website or services. This is my first experience with Questrade and I'm already regretting opening these accounts.
I request an account transfer all in cash on July, 26, 2019. After 2 months, all my TD water house deposits was finally showing up on my margin account. On september, 26, 2019, i realized my entire checking account in the amount of $10,513.04 was withdrawn and closed, and the payee was listed as Questrade. I've yet to see my funds on Questrade, and have no way to pay for everyday purchases. EDIT: the issue has been resolved, this was a big mis-understanding between Questrade and TD. I did get my money back, and with this issue being the exception, Questrade has provided excellent customer service.
One of the most horrific investment experiences ever! Don't get lured by fancy appearance of their web site or sweet talk of the people opening your account. Things will hit the fan once you run the first margin call. People dodging you, laughing at you, hanging up the phone at you, calling you names, being sarcastic with you and finally selling your entire portfolio because of a tiny margin call! People not answering their phone calls, people not returning their phone calls, people having no clue about their work and tons of arrogance along the way !!!!
A shady organisation with blatant disrespect of basic privacy notions. Would disclose your information to anyone calling and pretending to be you. Would stop at nothing to liquidate your portfolio without giving you a chance to transfer funds to them. No way to contact risk department, constant changes to margin requirements.
Left them to the brokerage account with my bank and ever since it has been perfect. Whenever they call you because of a margin requirements, they see that you have money in your bank accounts that they can instantly transfer. They see that you are a client with a education fund, 2 mortgages and 3 credit cards, so they right away know you have money and no one will attempt to liquidate your portfolio.
Avoid this plaque fraudulent organisation with a 10 feel pole! They will ruin you before you know...
Surprised by the low rating and reviews. Main complaint seems to be long wait times on phone to customer service. I've never had to contact customer service so I can't comment on that. It was quick and easy to open an RRSP account (less than 5 business days) and recently opened a TFSA account. It does seem to take a while longer than I expected for money to transfer in from my bank account but eventually it gets there. Otherwise no issues. Interface is really simple and easy to use and it's easy to make trades. It's a self-directed discount brokerage so I'm not really sure what people are expecting. If you're not a DIYer and you have limited knowledge of how trading works, it might not be for you.
Very unprofessional. I have called 5 times now and they have failed to apply the promotion coupon of free trades commission. What a rip off and false advertising. Stay far far away. If you are questrade owners you need to be ashamed.
Avoid them at all costs (pun intended) They have clever marketing but have zero experience with actually growing your hard earned money. Mostly this place is full of graduates with minimal experience. Will never deal with them again. Much better investing/trading options out there
Dont ever trust these guys they lie just to pinch pennies from you, multiple bad experiences and horrible customer service and wait times. The commison rebate for signing up is a scam also
Waited over 8 hours in total on hold for a single inquiry. Sent multiple emails. Tried connecting to online chat but they closed it at 1pm. Disgusting level of service. Worth moving your investments elsewhere.
Can never get through to them. I've been calling two and three times a day for over a week. Don't bother signing up for a call back cause that never happens. Of and apparently they won't respond to an email for 5 days so if you want to trade a stock don't do it here!
I was on IB (Interactive Brokers) for awhile before, along with other platforms, and Questrade is a million times better. There is all this hype about IB but Questrade is the real deal!
I really mean it. Best service and best platform out there. So easy to use and intuitive and INCREDIBLE customer service. I have a small account, and I still get VIP service. Just now I had a problem, my bank messed up, and they are right on it, prioritized my issue, and gave me an easy way to be in personal contact with the same agent so I don't have to keep explaining my issue again and again, or worry that my emails will get dropped for days.
Right now there can be some wait times due to COVID but it's nothing out of the ordinary, and before that I was always answered very quickly.
I have no idea what these other reviewers are saying. They must be fake from the competition or something, because there is no way you can deal with Questrade for real and have such a negative takeaway.
DO NOT JOIN!!! save the time effort and stress!!!!!!!! It took me 6 months to open an account and it is taking 7 months just to close it and get my money out! this is not acceptable and should not be legal. The extent to which their customer service is bad is beyond reasonable.
There are a million other options that will save time effort and pulling your hair out!
Worst customer service, waiting more than 1 hour and 15 minutes and still could not get people on phone...they doesn't care about others time. My phone battery die and still these people are not on phone... Please close call center rather giving these king of service.
I am a young and honestly bit naive of an investor. I have been using Questrade for a couple months now. I decided to go self-directed for the first time in my life and Questrade has made it a very easy experience. I got support throughout the whole process and they were more than happy to help with any questions I had in a timely manner.
Very glad I started with them, made getting into ETFs and stocks on my own cheap pain free! If you are sick of paying ridiculous fees at other companies, give Questrade a shot.
Recently, I opened an account with questrade, I called them to verify that they would partially reimburse the fees if a deposited a DRS. They said yes, when it came time to arrange for the reimbursement they would not honor their word.
They are a typical financial company they screw you over on fees. It costs 300 dollars in fees to deposit a DRS. My DRS was 1000 dollars worth of stock.
Questrade is awesome. Low fees and great mobile and web trading platform. I can even buy stocks from other markers like Japan stock exchange with a phone call and see them in my portfolio. So many options, even trade Options. 5 Star . I guess with the pandemic many people are frustrated with the long hold times for customer service or with trying to join Questrade as a new customer. But just select the option for a call back; worked every time for me. I don't have to hold on the line for hours, I just go about my business and when the phone rings back I get an agent on the line. My experience with the agents have been awesome, they are so polite, professional, and helpful. They answer my many questions Lol. help with my transfers, etc. 5 star for agent support. I would definitely recommend Questrade compared to those big banks for your self-directed training needs as per my personal experience.
Very very disappointing experience. I will not recommend questrade to anyone. Their insufficient and incomplete information and lack of knowledge literally causes financial impact on my portfolio. I said the same story more than 5 times without getting proper understanding. (I have not problem in communication both at work and personal life. I am working in investment industry. )
Just had a terrible experience, i was very happy with the platform until today. I had set up a stop order that was triggered even though the stock never even came close to this. I understand there are flash adjustments but the low was nowhere near the trigger price. Customer support can not give me a solution to the problem all they're saying is they'll get back to me in 3-5 days.... Could of been up $400, luckily it was a smaller trade but not impressed... I am beginning to question the back-end software of this platform.
I tried to open and fund an account after I previously had an account open. Thought it would be easier but it was more diffcult. You have to wait in a queue of 700 to 800 people to talk to someone which takes hours and they took one week to respond to my email telling me they can't deal with my problem through email. Awful. Their rates are good but it's not worth the hassle.
Update: 5 days later I got an email saying they can't fix my issue through email. I waited four hours to talk online and had to hang up....
Happy to remove this review once Maria, Team Lead of Client Services, decides to stop ignoring my emails. Her email to me was "feel free to respond to this email if you have additional questions about the transfer or otherwise, I will email you as well with any updates I have". I emailed her several days ago with no response. We have been given no updates. I emailed again, hopefully this time we won't be ignored. It has been over 3 months and our funds have not been transferred back to our bank account. We need the money back desperately and thus we started the process very early, but it seems the company wants to hold on to it for as long as possible. Edit: On second thought, I'll remove this review once they decide to actually give me back my money.
Excellent so far! Intuitive website, good functionality, outstanding customer support and low fees. I have transferred all of my TFSA funds to Questrade and so far, it has been nothing but positive. Very glad I switched to Questrade, just like the ads say :)
New account set up for Canadian with US residence a nightmare. Customer support group is polite but no one actually proactively helps you complete the setup process. Long wait times aggravate the situation, along with no individual who actually stays with you if there is a need to call back. You end up explaining everything again.
I have been a satisfied customer for five years, but trying to roll over to a RIF has been awful.
Still waiting for someone to help!
-update Jan 15, 2020 Shortly after insisting to speak with a supervisor, I was contacted by the supervisor of sales. He acknowledged a broken process when it came to US residents who were Canadian citizens. He then made and kept his promise to stay in the loop until my application completed. I am thankful for his concern and help. Hopefully they will address this issue procedurally. Their customer service people are very professional but cannot be effective in this case. Until then I recommend escalating as soon as you start having to explain your situation the second or third time to a different person who is following up on your application.
Questrade is fine if, and ONLY IF, the things you need to do are available through the website on a self-serve basis. If however you need to talk to someone in support or get something done that isn't available through the website, then you're better off switching to another company. It would actually be less of a hassle to switch companies then to deal with their support team. The support people put no effort into helping you. No two support people are capable of giving you the same answer. Every support person gives you a different answer to your questions. Each person gives you a different set of procedures, none of which are correct.
I finally decided to close my account after years of hanging on, hoping they would improve. There is no way to contact management to voice your concerns. They have no intention of improving.
poor poor poor services. They were good in the first 2 or 3 years after established, but gradually they became indifferent with clients. they don't respond to your quest. customer service personnel just wants to get rid of clients with questions. ASAP.
