If you are looking for a hockey program that will develop your child stay far away from this hockey academy. They have no interest in it... or the personal with any knowledge for $44,000 +.. your child better be a super star player or the only hockey experience they will receive will be the BENCH!!! ..
Winning is the only measurement at this academy...When the team is struggling they simply fix it with bringing up not one or two players but an entire team so that hopefully it will provide some success... How they justify the cost when you could pay $2500 - $3500 having your child play in your local community/quadrant.
The training is sub par, the practices are awful and it's focus is on only what they believe are the better players..When you ask for feedback they lie and ridicule the child...
Please ask them for as many references as possible before handing over your hard earned money.
Our son attended this Academy a few years ago. We were thoroughly disappointed in the Coaching. We should have anticipated an environment of elite young athletes could be toxic under poor leadership. Unfortunately the Coach played his favourite 5 players. Anyone not getting regular playing time was considered at the bottom of the order of importance. As a result there was a toxic environment amongst the kids.
The facility is excellent. The academic support was a great fit for our son. The house parents were amazing. Isabel and Frank were very considerate and compassionate towards our boy.
I am very positively satisfied with the first year which my son spent in Academy. At the beginning we were a little bit worried how he will cope with many difficulties - being far away from home, not being confident in language, new environment... I have to express my big gratitude to the teachers, couches and all other staff at Academy who helped Leo to blend in and motived him. I appreciate the prompt feedback and willingness to solve any problems and issues straight way. I am also thankful for the relationship between teachers and students, where they work closely and together to make this experience for boys most enjoyable. This is one of the many reasons why we decided to let our son stay in Academy next year.
