Not really sure what the point of having an appoin...

Not really sure what the point of having an appointment is. Waiting for hours for my car inspection!!! Only come here if you have no plans for the day. I will never be back. Should have listened to the other reviews...they are all true!

Courteous service. My tire was repaired in two hours on a Saturday. They called me as soon as it was done, no unnecessary waiting. I've been here several times for inspections and other minor issues. They have been great every time.

Mixed results. Car was supposed to be done 11a-12p for new tires install and alignment. I call at 2:15pm and they are wrapping up, they say. Ok I get there at 3pm and the woman tells me the car is on the alignment rack cuz she/they just noticed there was an alignment on the work order. Still waiting and it s 3:30p. I ve had better service here previously, so we ll see where things go.

Extremely helpful in getting me what I needed. It can be very intimidating especially since not everyone is a mechanic. They also helped me install everything I bought at no extra charge. The prices were fairly adorable and they have options for everything. If you are ever in a bind and you need help last minute this is where I would go.

Don't bother making an appointment. They'll acknowledge it when you arrive, then tell you to come back another day. I went 2 blocks down the street to AAA and they took care of me on the spot, sans appointment.

This is the worst Pepboys experience I ve ever had...

This is the worst Pepboys experience I ve ever had. They over charge for an oil change, I waited for 30minutes to pick up my car because they had one working the service. I was not notified when my car was ready, and just found it in the parking lot. Other staff was incompetent. Do NOT waste your time here.

My altinater went in my Murano and I had to get towed home. Now I'm ready to have it replaced, I called Pep Boys this morning and phone was promptly answered to let them know of my plans. I was told that I didn't have to accompany the tow ride and my car registration was not necessary. Just give them a call when it's on it's way. My tow service via of my car insurance was backed up today, so I called Pep Boys again at 4:04 pm and let them know it may be a little longer. I was told no problem we're here. I ended waiting almost 2 hours for their arrival. When I called Pep Boys at 6:03 to advise them that my car was on its way, nobody answered the phone. I stayed on the phone for over 2 minuets while my call bounced around. I continued to call selecting different options to get a live person and nobody answered the telephone! Now here's a 65 yr young senior and a nervous reck about my car. When I finally got through my situation was placed in the hands of Jim. Thank Goodness for employees like him. "Customer Service is the provision of service to customer before, during and after a purchase." Perhaps this quote placed at the service phones can enhance the customer service provided via telephone late in the day.

TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! This is by far the RUDEST staff I have ever had to deal with. All I wanted to know is if I could get an oil change on my car that day and the man on the phone cut me off (after i was put on hold for 20 minutes) and said "listen if you want us to do that you have to come in now...i don't know how long it will take but I have to get off the phone I have a line of people in front of me" I opted to change my own oil in 90 degree weather than ever give them money!

Worst experience ever
Had my car 5-6 days longer it than it was suppose to be and when I go pick it up to go to work and it doesn t even start !!!!!
I spent over $1400 for me to not even take it off the lot and now this is another day without my car and I gotta pay for rides
This is extremely upsetting in every way
I felt like I wasted all my time and money
I was better off going to the hood to get my stuff fixed

Updated review based on my most recent experience: I scheduled an appointment at 8am for my car to get inspected. I dropped the car off, but I didn't hear anything back by 5pm, so I gave them a call. I was told that they didn't know if my car had been inspected yet and they would call me back. At 6:30pm, I called them because nobody had contacted me. I was told that the car was currently being inspected and that it should be done in 30 minutes if I wanted to head over. I'm glad I didn't because I got a call at 8:30pm telling me that the car failed inspection. I was told that it had something to do with the brakes, but the person I spoke with couldn't tell me what needed to be replaced or how much it would cost. I was told they would call me back the next morning.

The next morning, I didn't hear back so I called them. The phone rang for about an hour and then someone finally picked up. The person that picked up told me that he was actually from a different Pep Boys and that the call was automatically routed to his store because nobody at my store had picked up. He said that he couldn't tell me anything about my car, and he recommended that I head over to the store that did work my car and talk to them in person. At 10:30am, someone from my store actually called me. They told me what work needed to be done, and I told them to go ahead and do it. Later that evening I was told my car was ready for pickup, but by that time it was too late for me to go get it.

The next morning (2 days after I had dropped off the car), I went to go get it. I waited in line for 15 minutes to get the car. When I got to the counter, I was told that I could only pay cash because their system was down. I pointed out that the store has signage that they accept credit cards and that I dropped it off there with the anticipation that I would be paying with credit card. The guy at the counter apologized and just said that he wouldn't give me my car back unless I came back with cash. Like most people, I don't carry $300 in cash on me, so I had to drive to an ATM and get money out to pay for the car. I'm just lucky that I have the cash on hand to pay the bill and that I had my wife drive me as opposed to getting an Uber.

I would consider this one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had.

Absolutely horrible. My car was at Pepboys for a month (part on back order), however I was NOT notified when the vehicle was completed until days later. When I picked up the vehicle, it was beyond evident someone broke into my car and rummaged through all my belongings. No windows were broken, so one would assume the vehicle was left unlocked. When I brought this to the manager s (Eddie) attention, his lackluster demeanor as it pertains to client satisfaction was more than apparent. He did not seem to care that his staff didn t inform me when my car was actually finished or that this happened while my vehicle was in their care. Do not, and I mean do not take your car for servicing here.

I had an unfortunate experience with this location. Today, 1/15/2018, I called this location for an appt for an oil change. My appt was at 11:30a. I dropped my car off at 11:25a and went to meet a friend for a few hours. I returned at approximately 2:45p. I walked up to the counter, and the gentleman asks, "what's your name again?" I gave him my name and he walks off into the service bay area, only to return to tell me that they were about to pull my car in now. Huh? I asked the time frame to complete the oil change, and he replies "another 45 minutes." I simply respond with, "please give me my keys." He says, "but we're about to pull your car in." Sir, I called and made an appt., and it has been 3 hours!? Further-- I only want an oil change. This makes no sense. He replies, "we've had a lot of cars and we take appts because we don't take walk ins." Huh? I acknowledge that I'm not an automotive professional; however, I will offer that this suggested business model doesn't make sense. Additionally, I find it "interesting" that as soon as I returned, 3 hours later, "they're pulling my car into the bay." This is a huge inconvenience . What would someone do who actually had plans? Lastly, if I needed to leave my car the entire day FOR AN OIL CHANGE, that should have been shared once I made the appt. I normally take my vehicle to Cherry HIll for oil changes and maintenance. Once, I had a very positive experience with a mechanic at this location previously, which made me think this would be a good opportunity to move my business to Philly, where I live. #fail. Perhaps the experience is based on who you get, and I just got the wrong person. My feedback would be to evaluate basic business practices and customer service. Unfortunately, I won't be back to gauge improvements if they are made.

I just moved into the Pennsport area this August. I went to this location for the simple task of putting a tire on a rim. I explained to the representative that I was coming from the grocery store, I had groceries in the car and that I just wanted to drop off the rim off and pick it up at another time. Of course he tried to get me to buy 4 brand new tires because that's what sales is. I reiterated that I did not have time and had no interest in buying four brand new tires. I told him that I would put the tire on the car myself when I had the time. He said that he would have the tire put on the rim if that's all I needed. I picked up the rim & tire two days later thinking everything was okay until I put the tire on and there was no air in the tire.

After experiencing some unexpected car trouble while in Chester I went to this location via Uber and was sold the WRONG part by a heavy-set female manager.. I went back to her in yet another round trip through Uber only for her to say that her store doesn't carry the part & she had it ordered to her store. Finally on my 3rd Uber trip i was able to pick the correct part up. The female manager didn't acknowledge her mistake so of course she didn't offer an apology either. Know precisely what you need the model make color, shape ect before going to this store since the staff is clueless! $68 in Uber fares for a $11.75 water hose smh.

They have good customer service if you're shopping inside the store for something. However I went here about 2 weeks ago for an oil change and I will never go back for service. I went in for a conventional oil change for $25 but the guy told me they can only do synthetic for $65 because that's what my car takes. I've gotten conventional oil changes the past 3 years because that's what my manual and dealership says my car takes. I walked out without getting the service done because they just wanted to make money off me.

I went and asked how much longer and they said the guy who does the oil changes was not there and it would be another 45 minutes. I read the reviews once I got here and am usually a pretty easy going person. This was just the worst experience ever. Not coming back here ever.

I should of known not to go to Pep Boys for automotive repairs. I knew they d try to screw me and that s what they tried, but I had to get it done ASAP. I took it to them Saturday and got call Sunday I needed new front brakes/rotors cost $490 which is ABSURD! But I said fine do it I need it done only place open on Sundays. Then get a call few hours later hey there s a lug nut we broke off and part of it is stuck on the stud. We need to chip it off and it will most likely crack the rim. I took a deep breath and said ok chip it and hopefully doesn t crack. Assuming it d be free to chip it they tried to charge me $270! To chip it off with risk of rim cracking so plus new cost of rim that would take 3 days. So I said no to all of it and bought the parts myself ($116) missed Monday from work but got it done by a local mechanic who charged $100 to put new brakes and rotors on and oil change. Also no charge to chip off broken lug nut and said the rim won t crack. They will try and get you for everything at least this pep boys will. Be careful and take the time to make sure you re not getting ripped off.

If I could give this Pep Boys zero stars I would. I make an appointment for 6:00pm for a headlight replacement, and to patch a tire that a nail had gone in. Mind you, I called right upon open (8 AM) to schedule, and actually inquired what the latest time could be for that work. I asked if 6 was okay, and was assured that it was "plenty of time." I come at 5:45, and the mechanic stated that it would take about 2 hours. 8pm rolls around and I have not recieved a phone call to update. I call, get placed on hold for 15 minutes, then hang up. I call again and inquire what is going on with my car and get asked to hold again, wait 5 minutes, then another person answers and asks why I'm calling. I ask again, and get placed on hold for a 3rd time so they can check on what's going on with the car. I am on hold now at this point for another 5 minutes when another person comes on the phone and says I need to call back. It is practically 9pm (closing time) and still have not received a phone call. I call back, and someone answers and says "can you please hold." Politelty, I say no I can't hold I need to make sure my car is ready and see what is going on. I get cut off mod sentence, and the male on the other line says "well you're going on hold" and then CLICK. At this point, I'm infuriated and decide to head over. On the way I recieve a call that they are backed up and ask if I can leave my car. i state two different times earlier in the evening that I could not. They told me to get there by 9, so I don't get locked out. Customer service was absolutely awful, they were rude and inefficient workers. They obviously did not start on my car for hours after my appointment. I will never bring my service to this pep boys again and will be calling corporate tomorrow.

Absolutely ridiculous how they treat their customers. I received a call from an employee there and he basically told me I had to make an earlier appointment. I told him I made the appointment at the later time because it worked for me and he told me he couldn't take me he was too backed up. Instead of apologizing for not being able to honor the appointment that was open in their website he acted like I was inconveniencing him and told me that if I wanted my oil changed I had to leave my car there over night. I ended up canceling my appointment because of the lack of customer service the man hand and no respect for a paying customer!

I made an online appointment for 5pm for the mechanics to complete a simple oil change however this ended up being a three and a half hour wait. This happened after being told the wait was only 45 minutes once the mechanic took my car into the shop. My car was supposed to be next in line. After contacting the service center 2 hours later for an update they said I had 1 more car in front of mine. once I was able to pick up my car, I was told that the mechanics who do the routine work left early in the day and it was very hot in the shop so the workers had fallen behind. Which I understand, but when you have an appointment I would expect the car to be finished especially when the paperwork says the customer is waiting for the car. Lastly, there are multiple signs over the store that say 30 minute oil change. When I asked the woman who checked me out she said that doesn't apply. I was a first time customer at this pep boys location and I am guaranteed I will never step foot in this or any other pep boys. They obviously don't care about their customers. It's not about retaining customers, it's about working their staff to the ground and making quick money through falsely advertised gimmicks.

I can't say enough about the service I received to...

I can't say enough about the service I received today. My wife clipped the curb late this afternoon and tore the sidewalls on two tires. As she needs her car to get to work I pulled the wheels and ran them down 45 minutes before closing on a Sunday (without calling ahead) and they went out of their way to get them swapped. A big thanks to Matthew for great customer service. He obviously cares about his job and the quality of service the location gives. Fantastic. And the kicker? I was out the door in 25 minutes! Who does that?! Thanks guys, you are most appreciated.

Bought a 3v keyless entry battery for $5.49 from them for my keyless car remote and I needed help to put it in. The lady at maintenance and service said she doesn t know how but those men in the back can help. But when I got there one of the 3 guys working told me he knows how to do it but he isn t allowed to do it. Didn t even offer any other options like how to open it and put it in myself. But Pep boys at another location helped me and was shocked that the guy didn t help me when I told him what happened. It only took a few seconds, no screws needed removed. Smh. Never again going back there. Bad customer service. Should had return it and buy it at the other pep boys because they didn t deserve my money. Plus, the battery is cheaper at the other pep boys on 2298 Ritner St.

Check in was not completed until 1:10, car was not taken back until 1:30 pm. Car was not finished until 2:15. Another customer who had the same service completed came in 10 minutes after me and was completed 20 minutes before me.

worst car service experience in 40 years! It's actually 0 stars rating. We were told 2 hrs for inspection test and made morning appointment. Called at 2pm and they hung up 2x before we learned they had not started on job. Threatened to cancel service and asked for supervisor. and they promised it would be done at 4pm. When we came at 4pm, they had taken all our tires off and were pressuring us to do wheel balancing/alignment. They failed the car on inspection because of a bulb. We agreed to pay for the bulb. It took another 70 minutes after 4pm before we got the car back. The prices they have posted are also not what they charge. When we were there, there were 4 other equally unhappy customers. Never again will we use Pep Boys.

Truly awful experience, I wish I could give 0 star...

Truly awful experience, I wish I could give 0 stars. Brought my car in for a state inspection at 10am, they estimated it would take 4 hours. Called back at 2pm to get a status update and they hadn't even started!! I should also mention that the employee I spoke to was quite rude and hung up on me twice. On my third call, they said the inspection would be done by 4pm, and also promised to call me periodically with updates never called me once. I showed up at 4, praying my car would be ready, only to find that they still needed "10 minutes" to finish up and put all of the tires back on my car. I have never ever heard of tire removal being necessary for a state inspection, but am guessing it was because they were trying to get me to pay for tire rebalancing or some other additional service I had not originally come in for. As I stood and waited ANOTHER HOUR for them to "finish up", I found that the other 5 people waiting had similar horrible experiences. They were all stuck waiting many hours after their car was promised to be ready and given the run around by the employees. One poor woman had been waiting 3 days for her car back just for an inspection! I strongly suspect they can't keep to their deadlines because they're spending time doing shady practices (like removing tires) and trying to weasel extra money out of customers who are at the mercy of the company fixing/inspecting their car. I will never use Pep Boys again I'd rather drive miles out of my way to use a different company after this experience.

I have never been treated so kindly by automotive staff. By far the staff Quadere, Brian, Jeanette, and Egin has went above and beyond to ensure that their customer has left happily. With my kids tire blew out on 95. I drive it off the ramp anf by luck pep boys. They close in 10 minutes. They can sell me the tire but not put it on. However they stayed while their ride was outside waiting for them to put my tire on and my children and I got home safely. Thank you so much guys you really care about your customers.

I got 4 new tires put on 9 months ago. I now have issues with a side tire bulge. They refused to accept the idea that it could have been a manufacturer defect and insist I pay full price for the new tire. My appointment was at 4 PM. I had to wait until 8:30 PM to get the car back. I also learned that they installed my rear tires BACKWARDS (9 months ago). The service associates were also very rude to me. Never will be back.

Take your vehicle anywhere but here. In 15 years of owning a car I've never experienced more horrendous customer service or mechanics. I got an oil change and a tire repair. The tire blew out literally the next day on the highway. I spent $200 getting home (for a tow, new tire, and installation). After several emails and calls with national customer service and local customer service, the "senior store manager" offered to reimburse me for the oil change because it took an hour longer than they quoted (almost three hours total). For the oil change? Is that a joke? They can keep the $60 for the oil change; it's not worth spending another minute dealing with these ass clowns. If I had the time, I would take them to small claims court on sheer principle. Also, just FYI this PepSocial outreach is completely worthless. They will just re-route you back to that store's management - uh, pretty sure that's a significant part of the problem here. Only call/email them if you feel like spending another several hours of your life banging your head against the wall. What a colossal waste of time. I will never go to that or any other Pep Boys again. You've been warned.

easily the worst experience ive ever had with any business ever. i will never recommend this place or ever step foot in there again. had an app for noon didnt hear anything till i called 4hrs later and they were like.. em o yea we are workign on it now.. i hear nothing for 2 hours so i call back and they say o the oil change is done and so what tire would you want since that one needs to be replaced... like were you ever going to call. they seem so clueless and im worried about how my car is going to function after leaving this place. i might go to another mechanic to have it looked at to just make sure its ok to drive.

My 24 year old daughter took her 2016 Mazda there to get her tire repaired, they told her that couldn't be done and proceeded to tell her they only had one tire that would work and it was $150! A week later she gets her brakes done from our regular mechanic that we've used for 10 + years, he told her she needed a new back tire, the one she just got from your establishment, it's soft to touch on the side walls and has a bump, also located on the side walls. She's been trying to call the store and continues to be left on hold for over 1/2 hour. I would never recommend this place, they took advantage of a young girl!

Dropped car off a little after they opened on a Saturday to have the check engine light diagnosed and the problem fixed. Called at 5:30 that night, no one can even tell me if the car's been looked at. Call again Sunday afternoon, it's finally been looked at but they can't tell me what was wrong with it. Picked it up and took it to a new location (the one by Quartermaster Plaza). They had it diagnosed and quoted in 2 hours. This location sucks anymore.

I can not say enough about this Pep Boys location. The reason, I keep coming back is, yes-they are affordable, but most importantly the service. Jim took care of me my first time here, he was honest, fast working and just incredibly kind. I felt like I could trust him with my car and look to him for advice on what next steps to take. Even when I was just getting my oil changed, I stopped to say hello and he gave a granola bar while I was waiting. Seriously, this guy is the best and the biggest part of the reason I keep coming back. The other staff is great too. Everyone is courteous and efficient and helpful!

I went here despite the reviews because I felt that a lot of people were just being overly critical with their reviews. Well after waiting over an hour for an oil change the mechanic who performed my oil change lazily went about it, taking over 45 minutes. Even after I pointed out that he did not check my air filter, nor did he top off my coolant fluid this was still not complete. I will definitely be making the Drive to Jiffy Lube, it's about 10 minutes up 95 and definitely worth it as they take under 30 minutes to perform the same task and do it very well.

I called 6 hours after my car was dropped off and they said the car was up shortly and they would call me when it was finished. I go there hrs later 45 min before they close to find my car in the same parking spot I left it in that morning. The car was untouched and hadn t even been looked at by a mechanic. I asked for my keys and left. I m done with pep boys. Terribly ran store on columbus blvd.

I needed to replace a blown headlight and had a devil of a time in removing the blown headlight. The man behind the counter dropped everything he was doing, and came out to the parking lot to help. I didn't ask him to do this, he simply volunteered. That goes a long way in my book.

Avoid. They failed my wifes car inspection demanding $769 to replace both rear shocks which they claimed were leaking after less than 12mos light local driving. I gave them lots of opportunity to change their absurd diagnosis, but they didn't. After I get a proper evaluation from a trustworthy mechanic I will file a formal complaint. The car shows no signs of suspension problems whatsoever. Rear shocks on a lightly driven front wheel drive car should last 4-5yrs. Both sides failing under 12mos is highly improbable. Looks and smells like simple fraud to me. UPDATED: Both shocks were in excellent condition upon inspection. We will be making a formal fraud complaint.

Went in looking for seat covers had a very limited selection didn't have what I was looking for. And also, in the process of buying floor mats crushed my fingernail putting back the one I wasn't buying. The lady cashier was very nice gave me a band-aid and since I wasn't member signed me up and gave me 20% off instead of 10%
