Horrible Support, Maintenance, and Faulty Product

I purchased a spa from Aqua Living Factory Outlets (BBB Complaint ID: 22898792) along with a Maintenance and Support package. The spa has never worked properly.
I initially worked with LPI for repairs but was told labor wasn’t covered because I own an Airbnb. I filed multiple support cases:
• Case #00032127 & #00032128 (Filed 01/16/25) – Unresolved. Spent hours troubleshooting their product instead of receiving proper support.
• Despite providing over 25 emails, photos, and videos, they kept asking for more "information" with no resolution.
• It took 1.5 months to escalate to a manager, who then demanded $450 for a technician and another $500 for faulty equipment replacement.
• I ultimately hired my own repair person and am awaiting a $450 refund.
Additionally, I requested they replace the spa top at their expense. They agreed—but only if I removed my negative review.

Do not buy a spa from LPI, Inc or any of their companies: Aqua Living, Catalina Spas, Dr. Wellness, Tuff Spas, Plug and Power Spas, Hudson Bay Spas, Pinnacle Spas Hydro Spas, Signature Spas, EneverySaver Spa Equipment or Wholesale Spa Covers.

I purchased a brand new spa from their TuffSpa line of products for ~$8,000. The molded spa cabinet had a manufacturing/design flaw, and water from rain and spa use was getting directly inside the spa, where all of the electrical components are. I filed a warranty claim a few weeks after receiving my spa, and the company refuses to do anything about it.

The company will no longer respond to me, and I am now left with a completely broken spa that is less than 1.5 years old.

Avoid at all cost any product from this place. Bought a hot tub last year. Got it late, finally arrive...circuit board broken..month later finally replaced. Month or so later some panels falling apart. Month layer, motor busted. Next find small screws in tub. "TUFF TOP" is warped and does not close Now for the last 5 months trying to get items replaced. Week after week another story ...no one reads the case file as they are fixing piece by piece each time closing the case out. No one returns calls or emails. Perma hold and when you finally get someone they said the case has been resolved . Which is incorrect. Anyone know if I can sue? Bbb does nothing

LPI dba Aqua Living Spas is nothing short of a joke! PLEASE do your homework before doing business with this company. Do not fall victim to their erroneous claims that they stand behind their products, or the ploy to entice business by stating that they are a local company. It's not worth it.
My experience has been a nightmare in the 7 short months I have owned my spa. Initially, my spa was delivered several weeks after it was promised. I let this go. We were in the middle of a pandemic. Life happens. Next, I paid a considerable fee to have my spa delivered and set up in my back yard. It was placed on the slab in my back yard. It was not set up at all. They didn't even remove the trash from the packaging. It was left all over my yard (these tubs come with a lot of packaging). Once again, I overlooked this inconvenience. I should have identified the red flags.
2 months later I had a jet adjusting knob fail. I called customer service and submitted a service ticket. The technician tells me it is a simple fix and he can send me the replacement knob. 3 weeks later...Still hadn't received the knob. I call customer service. They tell me the part was never ordered. 2 additional weeks later, I receive the part. ZERO instructions. I once again call customer service. I am reprimanded for not knowing how to fix a simple knob (there were several parts to it). He likened it to "changing a light bulb" that any child could do.
I was irritated, but refrained from posting a review as I take reviews seriously when purchasing a product.
Fast forward to today. I will spare most of the details as his could turn into a book, but the condensed version is... My spa has been making some noises when it goes into auto cycle, like the motor is struggling and whiny. I explain the issue to the technician, who then proceeds to inform me that I need to identify the part needed so he can send it to me. WHAT?
When did I become a hot tub technician? I asked him to send someone out as my spa is only 7 months old and still under warranty. Only to be told that they only warranty parts and not service. I would need to hire a local technician to identify my issue and repair my spa at my own cost.
So, my first realization is that LPI "Technicians" are nothing more than data entry parts orderers.
I attempt to explain to him that this is ridiculous, and I am very unsatisfied with the customer service. I then request (Mostly sarcastically, I'm quite annoyed at this point) that he sends me 1 of every part that goes into my spa since all of the parts are under warranty. He wasn't willing to do that. After 30 minutes of his complete disrespect he agrees to send out a technician, which will likely never actually occur, but we shall see. Even his service ticket comments in the email I received were inaccurate, rude, and inappropriate.
Save yourself the trauma and money. Purchase your spa from a company who actually stands behind their product, and values their customers.

Hot tub was a great price. Paid extra to have it delivered to your location guy showed up by himself needed me and 4 of my friends to help him Carry it. Spa loses program every time there s a loss of power and needs to be reprogrammed. Spa is 7 to 8 months old and all the head rest are peeling manufacturer will take any responsibility. I guess all I can say is you get what you pay for. Also horrible customer support been on the phone with them all day only manage to speak to people none of them helped.

I purchased a LPI X-6 model 3/2/2017. After about 7 months all the massage jets fell apart with in a few weeks of each other until everyone was broken. Leaving ball barings all in the bottom floor of the tub! The stereo speakers lasted about 18 months!
Today, i have a leaking Split Bracket at the heater pump! Typically these need to simply be tightened with a screw drive! However, the manufacter DID NOT install the brackets correctly! All the screws are facing the floor making it impossible to tighten or even remove! NOW, the entire pump must be removed to gain access to the 2 bracket screws!
MANUFACTER DEFECT
POORLY AND CARELESSLY BUILT!
Customer service is only interested in selling new products! I got no where with them on customer support and product replacement!
They only see dollar signs! They don t care about me, the past customer!
The Dissatisfied customer! So, I have decided to warn others so that they do not have to go through what I have. Yes, you save money buying wholesale but you get no customer service and the product is built poorly!

We ordered our hot tub they said will take 4 weeks to deliver, took them 6 weeks to deliver it. Got it June 3. 2 weeks later found a leak, called service they have sent 3 people out for them to be told over and over it is cracked, came to us cracked. We have the water fall tub and we have not used that feature due to the crack in it. But mind you they are still taking thier payments out. So we have called them since the 2nd week we received the tub and still on Sept 20 they keep giving us the run around. We are about to get nasty with them.

Ordered my Spa in May, got it delivered in August. Sides are smashed in, I contacted LPI, they said as long as Acrylic is ok accept it and we'll fix it. It's been over a month now since i spoke with their "customer service" and haven't heard a peep about it. Also, the Spa is very poorly designed, and still can't one of the seated areas to work, knobs are low quality and don't turn easily, need to dry hands and use both of them to turn it. I wish I would've bought somewhere else, every time I talk to the sales rep his response is how I got a great deal buying from them. This "great deal" is pretty lousy! I guess you get what you pay for! Just stay away from these people!

If I could give this company a review of -0 I would. The "top of the line" hot tub we purchased from them is the worst purchase of my life. Their customer service is a joke! The Hot Tub looks like someone put it together in their garage with untreated lumber, spray foam and bubble wrap. The plastic siding all around it is terrible. We have spent more time fixing it than sitting in it. I am just disgusted with it and the price we paid was outrageous! Do yourself a favor and purchase it from some other company. Stay far away from them!

Armstrong Catalina hot tub delivered in May . We live in Atlanta where we have learned there is no local tech support and unfortunately we have had serious issues since arrival . Tub kept heating from start , temp was set to 88 but it was heating to the hundreds which required me emptying and refilling to keep from overheating several times a week . Temp raised to 107 when we went out of town . It took six months , four separate technicians to visit and countless hours calling and on hold with LPI to get problem fixed . Thankfully heating issue is resolved but now our lighting isn t working ! The tub is located on a large reinforced deck with main entry to tub and another side completely open but LPI are now refusing to honor warranty unless my husband and I ( both in our fifties ) move tub away from wooden railings it is set next to on two sides . Sadly we have realized two things
1) we have bought a poor quality product
2) the company has no intention or ability ( local technicians say they don t want to work for them and they are located in Tennessee ) of honoring warranty.
The hot tub was bought through Aqualiving .
I wish I had done better research and not been impressed with false promises of a top quality product at a low price ( tub still cost $7000) . This has turned out to be a stressful , exhausting experience and not the relaxing , fun time we hoping for .

UPDATE: I received an email letting me know that it will be another 3 weeks. I ordered the bath on 4/30, it was sent to production on 5/14. It is "supposed" to be shipped 2nd week in June. I was told "so many procedures are in chaos" but they are misleading customers with inaccurate 10 -15 business day timelines. I have lost trust in the delivery timeline as well as the quality of the product.

I continuously called LPI and constantly reached voicemail, get left on hold, and get told I d get a call back in which I never do. The only thing I ve heard (7/2/19) was that the tub has not even started production and the woman in customer service would email her supervisor and said they would get back to me (never did) and would email production. Ordered from Aqualiving in Rhode Island. Contacted the woman in the store where I ordered from and she also told me they said they will call her back (which I m also waiting for). I wouldn t suggest spending thousands of dollars on a hot tub or any product here considering the lack of customer service. Also, they put the incorrect address on the order sheet and spelled my name incorrectly as well. For a $6000 purchase I would assume at least the paperwork would be handled with care.....

DO NOT BUY FROM LPI!!! We purchased a hot from a parking lot sale in June and was told it will be delivered in Sept. Called to check in Sept and was told it will be 8 more weeks. Called at the end of October and was told it may be Feb 2021. Then 2 days later they called to say the unit will be delivered the next day. Upon delivery, it came with the wrong lid and no chemicals. Upon further inspection it was not the 110 I ordered but was a 220. When I call LPI I was told "to bad" and I could pay shipping for it to be returned or keep what I have. They did credit me $200. I had to pay out $900 for an electrician. I was told the correct cover would arrive in 4 weeks. Eleven weeks later I received an email that the cover would be delivered and a freight company would call to set up an appointment. Freight company never called and the top was delivered anyway. Upon inspection it was damaged and will not lay flat on the unit. Freight company will not take the package back and no one at LPI will return a phone call or an email. This has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had. LPI should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers considering the amount of money they are making off of their products. DON'T BUY FROM LPI!!!!

The setup of my swim spa was as bad of a service I have every received from anything I have ever bought. Yes they set the tub, left the garbage (plastic and wood) all around the spa on the ground. The steps and cover lifter came in two weeks later. They where not install like the salesman promise. I had to put the steps together and the lifters. I have not got the lifters under the tub yet. Have not figured how to lift it to do so.

Ordered a spa in early June through lowes.com. ( just a heads up, these five star reviews look rather suspect.) delivery date was supposed to be September 8th 2020 figured that was a long time to wait but we were okay with that. As we all know, it takes a lot of prep to prepare the instalation of a large spa, so it'd be nice to know the progress report on the exact delivery date being on time. Contacted Lowe's at customer service to correspond with LPI to confirm the delivery date. Lowe's stated that they we're on hold for 35 minutes and we're hung up on at LPI spas. so I took it upon myself to call LPI several times same problem, could never get through to customer service not even tech. It is now October 18th 2020 and I received another email from Lowe's for a third delivery date change once again to November 14th. It is my impression that either this company got hit by ICE and they have no more employees or they are going out of business. Do not buy from LPI spas!!!

Unfortunately, this company has quite the scam going, and we fell for their bait & switch. LPI supposedly creates (or at least owns) the Catalina and Pinnacle brands. We purchased what was supposed to be a Signature Spa brand from an LPI roadshow, which was ultimately a tent in a mall parking lot.

We were sold a certain model branded by Signature Spas for a total of $6700. When the hot tub arrived, it was branded Home and Garden Spas and did not have all of the features that were included in the documentation that we were provided at the time of purchase.

Fortunately, we realized this before the company cashed our check so we were able to place a stop payment on the check and try to work through the customer service. We were assured that we just received the wrong model and that someone else must have received ours, yet the rep would not provide any pricing information for the hot tub that we received.

We are still waiting for a refund for our initial $2700 deposit and the company has already come back to pick up the hot tub that they delivered. When I dug into this company and their brands, the brand that the delivered was their lower end model that they sell online at stores like Home Depot and Lowes. The $6700 model that was delivered was only $4900 at Home Depot, yet the rep refused to do anything for us other than pick up the hot tub or offer $300 worth of additional filters and supplies.

DO NOT BUY FROM LPI! Their brands include Laguna Spas, Home & Garden Spas, Catalina Spas, Pinnacle Spas, and Signature Spas.

We got the HG90 hot tub and it is AMAZING! Joey was our salesman and he was great to work with! Make sure you have a bobcat or several people to help you unload it! Our first one came damaged beyond repair but LPI was awesome and got another shipped out right away. So make sure you examine the tub real well on ALL sides and inside. The shippers do not care anymore and someone along the line used short forklift forks, which it clearly states on the side not too, and damaged it as well as just neglect. So that is the only thing I highly suggest, inspect it! We used a bobcat with long forks to unload it, this is a must unless you have several strong guys and a flatbed or something.
This hot tub is so nice and I feel like very good quality for the price. We live in North Dakota so I did put an insulating wrap around the outside of it just to help it be a little more economical in our cold weather and just to help it out a bit. Not sure it is needed but I feel better with it on. I would recommend buying a tub from LPI. As of now we have not had anything to worry about. I will let you know if in the future they are not good to work with or at helping if issues occur but as of now we love it and it feels like we are on vacation everyday using it, lol

If I could rate this company lower If I could! They will not stand behind their warranty if your spa develops blisters, even though the warranty spcificly states a five your warranty against blisters. I have been dealing with trying to get LPI to repair my spa for 6 months. They will not respond to emails and if you call you will waste you time having to wait or if you are able to speak to someone they will make promises but that is all you will get. I had to contact their local BBB to even get them to respond, after they claimed the blisters was due to improper chemicals. I would not purchase any of this company products.

I would give zero stars, if only able to...LPI and I entered into a contract on 8 August for me to purchase an IN STOCK hot tub for delivery within 8 weeks, which was 2-4 weeks past normal delivery times due to COVID. I put an immediate CC deposit.

At just over seven weeks, I contacted LPI to inquire about the delivery date and was told by LPI:
Reference your invoice and it should show that your purchase would take approx.8 to 10 weeks.. It will be at least 3 weeks or so unless something opens up and we can deliver your purchase" (My invoice says 8 weeks)

Today, almost 11 weeks post order, I contacted LPI again
The LPI reply: We are are approx.10 weeks since you purchased. The invoice should reflect that your purchase should be ready for delivery in 8 weeks. We do apologize for the delay, unfortunately there are factors right now in our lives that are not in our control. As of today, we are estimating at least 3 weeks or more to complete your delivery. None of us can predict the future Unfortunately our supply chains are very irregular." "Delivery time frames have not been met but we can assure you this a Nationwide industry issue. Not just a LPI delay." "We are the largest manufacture of hot tubs and swim spas in the U.S. So if we are experiencing delays , other manufactures delays are at least double than what we have. .Our estimated delivery timeframes are exactly that .an estimated timeframe. It states in your delivery instructions that we are not responsible for unexpected delays in deliveries.

My response 1. I was told 3 weeks or more, and now, 3 weeks later I am being told the same thing. 2. We were well into the pandemic when ordered and the salesman said verbally and in writing that it was in stock and would be delivered by 8 weeks. ***3. LPI said it states in the delivery instructions that you are not responsible for unexpected delays in deliveries .that is a complete lie and NOT what it states in the delivery instructions that I signed. #8 of my instructions say LPI, Inc. is not responsible for any changes in delivery schedule due to inclement weather or unforeseen mechanical delays.

LPI is in breach of this contract for the inability to fulfill the terms of the contract. I was misled from the beginning and continue to have no reasonable expectation of any delivery date that can be expected any time soon.

I requested a reasonable delivery date range or an immediate deposit refund for their inability to fulfill their own terms of the contract.

The LPI reply: At this point, it seems that you are not understanding of the issues as a country we are having. Our lives change quickly and day to day. We will pass this email to our legal team as they are the division that drafts the paperwork. We do apologize but most people are understanding of what we are dealing with as a society. AND Unfortunately, this probably would of been set for delivery sooner than the decision. Enjoy the rest of your day.

This is an absolute travesty for such a large company and the supposed leader in the industry! I have been an active duty service member for more than 20 years, so don t dare talk down to me about not understanding the issues of our great country or not being understanding of what we are going through as a society. How dare them use COVID-19 as a tool to mislead customers and have no real remorse or an approx. delivery date! Shame on you for acting as if this pandemic started in August and that s the reason!!!

Own up to the mistakes, make a plan to correct them, keep your customers informed and above all be honest and offer just compensation(refund) if unable to fulfill your contractual promises!

Ordered a swim spa from this manufacturer in a parking lot at a show. Gave them $3,500 down payment. My delivery date was 90 days out. Followed up to firm up delivery date 90 days later and was told it would be another 4 weeks. Followed up on that at 8 weeks later, told another 3-4 weeks. After questioning the honesty of this transaction Company abruptly cancelled my order against my wishes. Do not trust this company, when they can't deliver they make a quick exit. I had a new patio and retaining wall installed, had electrical work done to prepare for this spa that I will now never get!! I have spent thousands of dollars in preparation work for nothing.

We purchased a tub about 2 years ago. For the most part they were helpful and tried really hard to get our buisness because I was very leary at some of the reviews I had read. Against my better judgment we purchased. There was minor damage when it arrived along with issues of it heating up. We had that fixed. Few months later a speaker went out, a few jet pieces cracked. Got those pieces sent not a problem. Then the heater went out, again got a new part no problem. Then the pump went out got a new piece to fix it but had to have a company repair it for us. we had to pay out of pocket for over 200 dollars. Then, It stopped heating up again.... got a new heater but that didn't fix the problem and we need a new board... over 400 to replace the part alone.. This company uses poor quality parts and manipulates you into thinking it's a quality product. Go elsewhere!!

Well! Where do I start! Went to the Louisville Garden and home show, and my sister and I got a deal on a hot tub. Beware if it's a deal there is problems to follow.... so I get the hot tub delivered at 6 something in the morning, scratches and broken panels. Called the guy that delivered it and he was a JOKE.. Called main corporate office and been talking to a really nice guy "but that's his JOB" well we had new panels sent right out ( wrong ones) called Jason and told him what the issues was and well we got new panels sent out and GUESS WHAT???? YES STILL THE WRONG ONES. I'D ADVISE PEOPLE TO READ REVIEWS... I WISED I HAD BECAUE I WOULDN'T HAVE DEALT WITH THEM. Now my Sister got the same hot tub and they had the wrong top for hers. It was like a act of Congress to get anything. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Beware!! Cheap China pumps, components that do not...

Beware!! Cheap China pumps, components that do not last. 3 years and the impeller went bad. Spa tech quoted $315 for new impeller and seal rebuild. Took the pump in and nothing is interchangeable. Basically a throw away piece of garbage. Now I am looking at $650 for new pump including install.

$5880.00 spent on their G12 spa 10/16/2015. Thought it was a great buy. Boy was I wrong!!!

I top of that, since the beginning, silicone comes out of virtually every jet. Creates a white gum ring all around the spa water line.

Don't make the same mistake I made. Buy a name brand spa with quality parts.

My husband and I purchased what we were told was the top of the line Catalina hot tub. At first we had no problems but then the screen in the hot tub started to have issues. We put in a service ticket and in the mean time led lights on the outside of the spa went out. This is all 1 year after purchase. The black plastic knobs have completely gone gray and white in discoloring. It took 3 months for our first service ticket to be fulfilled. Now we receive what was supposed to be the knob replacements however it ended up being parts for a spa we don t even own. We were assured this company stood by their products but that is an absolute joke. We shouldn t be having these issues 1 year after purchase and most definitely shouldn t be having problems having our spa serviced!!! Do not. I repeat do not purchase.
