I have been using this company for a long time and always so pleased with the service. I just used them again a couple of weeks ago. It is hard working from home alone for office set up or computer problems in general and finding the right person to come to your home. Kaplan Computers always responds immediately and fits you in their schedule as quickly as possible. Their pricing is very reasonable for coming to your home. The technician knowledge is excellent for all the challenges I have had. I found Kaplan Computers by chance many years ago and very happy that I did. I highly recommend Kaplan Computers.

I have dealt with the Kaplan's Service Department several times now and they have earned my trust. Service last week was very quick - the staff unofficially identified the issue immediately, ran the comprehensive diagnostics and called me within three days, then completed repairs about six hours after I gave the phone approval. I was very pleased with not only the quickness of the service and the fact that they discussed the pros and cons of all possible options, but also with the reasonable final price.

Really glad I called these guys when my computer had a blue screen. The hard drive was bad but they were still able to recover my data and transfer it to a new laptop for a reasonable price. Great service for a great price!

I had possible contamination of my computer. Brought it in to Kaplan. They provided courteous and helpful service in reasonable time frame. Also very helpful with issue that occurred after updates were installed. I highly recommend this company.

I had my son's gaming computer service. There service is outstanding friendly and very knowledgeable.. reasonably price.. I'm definitely bringing my laptop to be service.....

My PC and its printer stopped communicating, completely. I tried everything I knew to do and failed. After wasting hours of my own time, I called Kaplan Computers. The technician came over within an hour, worked for more than an hour and solved the problem (it was very complicated) at a reasonable price. I highly recommend Kaplan Computers. This company also has a Mac expert. Completely worthwhile.

Timely service, great diagnostics, tech completed all required repairs as well asmy request to clone existing booth drive to new 1 TB SSD M.2 drive. Very pleased.

It is hard to find proper analysis and service on computer issues. Over several incidents Kaplan Computers demonstrated that it excels at analyzing and fixing broken hardware, resolving faulty software functionality, sorting out networking troubles, and improving computer performance. I am not an easy customer (questions, complains, expectations). Still I received courteous and patient responses from a responsible and accountable company.

They fixed a lingering problem with my disk being corrupted. A bit expensive though.

I called Kaplan Computers.
They sent tech out out and found the computer needed to be taken to their repair center. They called to let me status and when machine would be returned. they delivered right on time and the tech was particularly helpful and very knowledgeable. His name was AJ GUERRA. This is second time they came to my house and i am very satisfied. We purchase 2 computers and accessory"s in past . In my opinion this is place to go.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars ... couldn't ask for better service from start to end! I was having issues with my Dell laptop from stripped screws to error messages about the hard-drive among other things. The techs did an excellent job in communicating, trouble-shooting, explaining what the issues are and the options. When one option did not work for me, due to the fact I do not have the software for my work computer, they looked into other solutions to fix the problem. Dropped off the laptop and was ready to be picked up the next day!

Top notch service and reasonably priced. I would definitely refer anyone to Kaplan Computers. Keep up the awesome work!

I've bought many computers from Kaplan Computers over the last 10 years for my business. I've used their sales, and service dept and they were both great. At the end of the day, they are a business and they need to charge appropriately to stay in business to service us. For anyone who does not think their prices are fair, realize they are very affordable compared to other business'. Will continue to go back for all of my computer needs!

Had a great experience at Kaplan Computers. My computer was not turning on and Justin at the service desk looked at it for a few minutes and helped me get it running again. Wonderful customer service! I will absolutely be returning after Cyber Monday!

Kaplan Computers helped me when my MacBook pro track pad crapped out recently. They gave me a stop gap solution so I could still use the computer while waiting for the parts to be delivered. I went into the Kaplan freaked out and frantic, and they quickly put me at ease. Nobody likes spending big hunks of money on computer repairs, but I felt like I got my money's worth and then some. A+ for this crew.

The worst experience that I have ever had. Don't work with this guy, he is dishonest and unprofessional

Staff seemed nice and helpful. They helped me pick out a computer that would suit my needs and told me I could return within 7 days. The machine didnt work as I had hoped and when I went to return it I was charged a 10% restocking fee??? I lost $100 because the computer I was told would work, didnt work.

I was recommended to come here by a coworker, but I was not impressed. My initial interaction with the staff member was a bit frustrating and they did not seem to listen to what I was saying. My husband even jumped in to confirm what I was trying to say but he was also ignored. After that conversation I did not have confidence that they would be the best place to have my computer fixed. The staff member seemed like he was usually the one that dealt with customers and came off as rude and dismissive. I also was a bit taken aback by the fact I would have to pay $99 up front just to see what the issue was even before they did any quoted for repairs. My budget for repairs was only $300 so I chose not to have my computer fixed there and called another computer store for advice, and eventually ended up buying a new computer.

**Apparently, after reading the response from the owner, I was also overcharged for a diagnostic. So not only are the employees rude, they also dishonest. I will definitely not be considering this place for any future repairs.

This is a very good store they know what they are doing I like the computer that I bought from them just wish it was a bit cheaper I bought it for $800 and the next month it was $600 but yay rly nice ppl nice store

So my desktop encountered problems downloading Windows updates. That, and it was time to switch to Outlook from Live Mail. Kaplan Computers walked me through the issues and gave an etched in stone price to repair. Although I did have problems with all of the email migration these guys never rested until everything was fixed to my satisfaction. They were thoroughly professional and spent a lot of time explaining the software to a non-geek like me. Honestly I could not have picked a better place to go. I strongly recommend this business: no surprises on repair work quote, things done right, and a vast computer knowledge and repair shop. They are so helpful! Went in with a network issue, no network driver after a Window's update. Crys took a look at it, and 5 minutes later it was fixed!

Came to Kaplan a long time ago after my desktop I built stopped working. Charged me $60 for a diagnostic saying we don t know but we ll take your money. I was around 11 at the time and was very sad they couldn t find out what was wrong and still took my money. when I had taken the pc apart and rebuilt it after going to Kaplan it turned on again but a simple motherboard problem was too much for Kaplan to diagnose for $60. Company just wants money, doesn t care about their customers. You re better off doing it yourself than coming to this joke of an establishment. An 11 year old was more competent with computers than they were. Pathetic. Regardless of you having all that knowledge you lacked the ability to tell us the diagnosis as you just had. So in addition bad service and yes 4 years later I m still positive I will never be returning to this establishment and am posting this review to help other children interested in building computers to not fall into the same money trap as I did. Had I accepted further services you would have tried to get me to upgrade or fix things that were fine, which is wasting more money that a child doesn t have. In the real world people write reviews about their experiences, and mine was bad so stop being so ignorant to the possibility someone had a subpar experience at your store. I wish you the best luck and wish anyone that reads this review will look for another place to fix/buy their computer parts. That reply was also the first time Kaplan Computers has told me that it was a cpu issue. After I saved up enough money I replaced my motherboard and it worked. Definitely just go elsewhere

Had a laptop with Windows XP where a hardware component just disappeared. Could not get Windows to reinstall it or reinstall the driver. Brought it in and they had it working in 20 minutes. Very quick, very professional, very effective. I had never been in the store before and they demonstrated, quite quickly, that going in was the right choice.

Any future computer service needs I have, they get the business.

I used to buy all of my computers here....the service, selection, and pricing is no longer competitive with other alternative retailers.

Purchased an iMac here and love it. Will be returning in late May for another purchase

I'd recommend this place! They are very efficient and took the time to explain to me what they had to do to fix my computer after I spilled some water on it, and I got my computer back with everything intact after three days. They also chatted with me about what I can do to improve my computer's performance in the future, so I'll probably head back!

My newly purchased, reconfigured (by Kaplan) laptop was horribly infested with malware, viruses and evil invaders. That was my fault, since I believed in the reliability of the Norton and Microsoft links which were frauds - not connected to either at all.

Michael MacLean thoroughly scoured my operating system and all other programs to restore my laptop to full operation, including - to my surprise, my connection to my printer, my email setting, my internet connections, and my ITunes program which contains over $3,000 worth of audiobooks as well as beloved music. Don't know how he did it, and he did it with a smile. And I wasn't always pleasant since I was so frustrated with the infection situation.

Further thanks go to John, the service manager who withstood my wrath. It was a difficult enterprise and they came out on top. I'm a long-term customer of Kaplan Computers in Manchester CT - all staff are professional to the nth degree.

Lifesavers! So very happy that I drove 30 minutes each way for their expert help to get my blue screen HP laptop to boot without corrupting or erasing any of my hard drive files! Fantastic experience. They offered several options for the repair and understood the urgency. Incredibly reasonable price. If 10 stars were an option, I'd gladly give them 10 Stars! Just call or go to Kaplan Computers when your PC, or laptop breaks. Do not hesitate!

Once again Kaplan Computers comes through! Our office server, that KC built for us eight years ago, had the power supply 'fry out' on us one afternoon. Immediately brought it to KC and less than 24 hours our office was back up and running! Now if we can get another 2 years out of the server so that we can be fully cloud integrated is another wish!

Along with our new, custom built server we've also purchased recondition iPads and iMacs at great value. Thanks again KC!

The wonderful people at Kaplan Computers repaired my Dell's broken hinge for the agreed upon price, and they did a wonderful job. The technician's were very polite and knowledgeable. I would definitely be willing do business with them again, and would recommend them to anyone.

I do however have one small suggestion/complaint, which is minor.
At the time of my repair they charged a $60 dollar diagnostic fee, and if you repaired the computer with them, they would apply $30 dollars of the diagnostic fee towards the repair of the computer. When I received the call letting me know that my computer was repaired, they forgot about the $30 diagnostic rebate promised to me when detailing the final price. The technician immediately apologized, and chucked it up to a new technician. He promised to take note of it, and fix it on the invoice.

When I picked up my laptop, it was a different technician that retrieved the laptop for me. He tried to charge me for the repair without deducting the $30 rebate. I had to explain to him that $30 dollars needed to be deducted for the diagnostic rebate. He seemed a bit uncertain and had to get another technician to address this, which he did, no problem.

I truly believe this was an honest mistake. If it was only once, I wouldn't have mentioned it, but to make it twice in a row with the same customer is a bit careless.

Very honest people. They worked on my iMac and had it up and running within my tight deadline. It was a complex problem with the aging iMac and they fixed it. And best of all they did not charge me a load of money. The repair cost was much cheaper than I thought.

Called Kaplan Computer Store one day to ask some questions about a vintage computer I own. The person I spoke with was very short with me, bordering on rude. He assumed I wanted to sell the computer to him. It appears that if you aren't spending money in their store they want nothing to do with you.

I had an HP laptop hard drive issue and brought to Kaplan - they told us that the laptop wasn't fixable (or wasn't worth fixing) and suggested storing what they could recover onto a separate hard drive that we could purchase. We did so. We were very grateful they were able to save what we had on our computer - a lot of it held sentimental value. When we received our hard drive, everything was easily accessible and neat and navigation was simple. Connection to current laptop was simple as well, via USB connect.

As an aside (and this was my OWN fault) make sure you communicate to them IF you'd like to keep your old laptop. We traveled extensively this summer and (again, our own faults) all but forgot about our laptop there. After things settled down this summer, we went into Kaplan to pick everything up and we got the new hard drive, but the laptop had been sent to be recycled. In the paperwork it states that if enough time lapses, this may happen. (I'm paraphrasing)

I wanted the laptop back for sentimental reasons, but again, my own fault. Spoke with Matt (employee) on phone and he was very professional and understanding and explained the policy.

Just throwing a warning out there in case you miss this on the paperwork like I did.

All in all a good experience though and I will use again and refer.

Brought my computer here after the screen was black and wanted an honest educated opinion. Staff was helpful and realistic, considering I have a "gently used" computer. I appreciated how they were honest and did not try to sell me into a more expensive product. Turnaround time was also very quick within a day and the price was reasonable!

Motherboard on my Dell Inspiron crashed.

They fixed, tested battery life (which proved to be outstanding) and did some other diagnostic work (finding no other problems).

Would highly recommend.

I told myself 2018 was going to be the year that companies and individuals were going to be held more accountable for their services. This decision has been something I have been wanting to do for some time but never focused on it. Perhaps it was not having enough time in the day to follow through with an issue. This will hopefully stop someone from dealing with a company to which customer satisfaction is not a priority, keep in mind if it is a positive experience companies will be told as such.
Which brings me to Kaplan computers. I was having issues with my PC and decided to have them take a look at what may be causing the issue I was experiencing. As I was walking to the front door I noticed the gentlemen behind the counter come toward the front door to assist in opening it as I had my hands full. They gave me a nice greeting and showed me where the service area was in the store. I was met by "Crys" which he then explained to process, the billing, and the typical timeline needed. He then took the PC into the back, plugged it in and communicated to me what he was seeing. Of course nothing was 100% positive as it was a quick look, he explained what they would do and would call when they had more information. I was in a bit of a hurry so I called a bit earlier than expected and asked to have it prioritized. They agreed to a small fee and hours later the PC was fixed. Picked it up and works flawlessly. Thanks guys, all communication and service was fantastic.

Called Kaplan Computers and explained my issue with my desktop Outlook program. They were busy but promised a call back in a timely manner. About 2 hours later I received my call and we arranged tech to fix my computer. Issue fixed within minutes, invoice sent promptly. Couldn't be happier!

I like Kaplan. I don't love it. I'd give it 3.5 stars but I won't scrimp and downgrade them because they do a good job in the service department which is primarily what I use them for. I've never bought a computer or accessories there because their prices are a little nuts. UPSIDE: if there's a problem with my computer, this is where I'll go. I trust they'll make it right. DOWNSIDE is they charge - not exorbitant, but they're not for the budget minded. UPSIDE is maybe those prices allow them to pay people a decent wage which might be the case since they seem to stick around. DOWNSIDE is salespeople are surly and not particularly helpful if you're merely browsing, which I thought to do when I brought in my laptop for a fix. So................... its a 60/40 kind of situation. I tend to agree their hardware prices are a little delusional in terms of what they're selling. But it's local and I like patronizing local business. And if I were not a poor shlub, I'd buy my hardware with them because I'll tell you, it's a whole lot better than having to deal with Best Buy, which has gone entirely over the top corporate crazy. I figure how often does my computer needs fixing? So it's kind of okay. And I'd rather see Kaplan there when I drive by than not, or worse - another damned Best Buy. So there you have it.

I ve purchased a few computers through Kaplan and my experience has always been very positive. Just recently I was having an issue with my laptop not holding a charge. They were so helpful in diagnosing the problem as well as ordering & installing a new battery. The service was super timely and everyone I dealt with was helpful & courteous. I highly recommend Kaplan!

When my Dell laptop stopped working, it was out of warranty. It wouldn't boot up, but would loop between two screens until I shut it off. I did some research, but couldn't find consistent answers. I was thinking that the problem would cost me way more than Kaplan Computers charged me, especially because they said it would need a new motherboard.

I was happy when I picked it up and the price, including the new motherboard, was less than I could believe. I highly recommend Kaplan Computers and will definitely use their service again if needed.

These guys are awesome. I have used Kaplan Computers years ago when I had a virus. They cleaned it up at an affordable price and added a better virus protection. Years later, I mistakenly changed to another virus protection provider and ..yep got a another virus. I should have listened to them and not tried to save a few bucks. While I was there, they has some suggestions and changed my laptop to a solid state hard drive. They upgraded my Asus laptop, didn't charge me much, and now my laptop is super fast. I am so glad I went there. I always recommend Kaplan Computers to anyone who has a computer problem.

Do not listen to the Naysayers! Some people are just unhappy or do not understand what it takes to run a brick and mortar retail, reseller, repair business. I have been to Kaplan many times over many years, and NEVER had anything but a good, enjoyable experience. Everybody knows their stuff and treats you well, Sales and Service and Parts. I have been working with computer hardware and software for over 30 years, from Mainframes to Servers to PC's, it is my hobby too. Trust them, go there! Nothing sketchy going on, I would know by now.

We are a small office that works 100% online. Our Comcast service was in and out for about a week. We talked on the phone with Comcast, hired a different 3rd party technician, and had our in-house IT working on it as well with no solution in sight. We called Kaplan Computers and tech came out to our office within 3 hours of our phone call. He diagnosed and solved the problem as soon as he heard what was going on and saw our network.

Highly, highly recommended.

I dropped off my laptop computer and purchased a used one they offered for sale. The data from my old computder was to be transferred to the new one and was to be ready within 2-3 days as they said there was only one computer ahead of me. I called twice during the week and they said it was still being worked on. I finally found out after another call they were missing a password to get it running but they never called me to ask for the missing information. It was only thru my calling and offering them my mail password that it got fixed. It took me a week to get the notebook. They never called to ask me for what they were looking for. If I had not called it would still be on the bench 3 days later and I would still have no system.
I am not fully familiar with Windows 10 and they provided no assurance that my data had been transferred nor demoed that particular data I wanted transferred was there. I was rudely asked to leave as they said they said could only spend 10 minutes with a customer even though there was no one else in the store. I spent over $425 on the notebook and the transfer of the data. I told them the system was running very slow after I logged into it and exercised it to get a few of my most used applications. They made no effort to increase the response time and the teck was unwilling to watch me exercise the system. It worked very slowly for an hour with internet access when I got it home and it then would not let get back on the internet.

I had to call a Netgear support group in India to fixed the problem. They got me on the internet and also adjusted the channels so that the speed and response time was greatly increased. It is now lightening fast.

Obviously I was not had a bad experience at Kaplans and feel they did not have strong technical knowledge to fix my computer quickly and properly. I feel I am due for a refund on the data transfer part of the price as I had to contact India.

Overpriced! I was desperate and paid 16 dollars for 7ft patch cable. They didnt have cat6 so i had to settle for 5e. You would expect a computer shop to at least have current inventory.

This place is great. I went in looking for a decent, quality, refurbished laptop. They had answered all my questions, had all the right answers and all that included great prices . Needless to say I left with my laptop.

Pricey compared to Best Buy but the products are a little higher quality and these guys actually built computers so they can answer questions and they will tell you where to buy items that they don't sell for your building

I have done business with Kaplan Computer going back to the 90's and have always found them to be the 'best' Computer Sales & Repair store anywhere! So, flash ahead to this year alone. In February..my P.C. with massive saved data craps out and Kaplan miraculously is able to save virtually everything onto an external hard drive and USB's! I also buy another computer and monitor and over the last few months.. I have been back to buy speakers, 2 printers, cables, a laptop etc! The store Manager 'Tom' is a likable no-nonsense type of person who is very focused on the running of the business and keeping things running smoothly. I think Connecticut is lucky to have a store like Kaplan Computer, and I hope they're around a long time to come! P>S> Bravo to the tech support/repair team too!

These guys provide great results and they work really quick. Updated my MacBook operating system in just a couple of hours. They called me as soon as my computer was ready. They are very friendly and very courteous towards the customer. Kaplan works great with their customers and really value my business. I really recommend these guys to anyone.

I would highly recommend Kaplan, they were able to quickly transfer my data from my old broken computer to a new one. I purchased not only a desk top computer but a laptop also which I had needed, and I was able to get up and running for work within a day after the crash. Thank You again Kaplan computers!!

They do the best work, keep my old desktops alive, always sell me great equipment at reasonable cost.
But best of all, they were able to do no contact drop off and pick up for my comfort during this pandemic.

I brought my Lenovo Legion to Kaplan to have my LCD screen replaced due to a crack. They ordered the required replacement part and notified me when the piece came in. I brought my laptop in and they replaced the part in 30 minutes. The price was very reasonable and in line with their initial quote. Excellent service at a fair price. Highly recommend.

As I was in Manchester only for 4 days & needed service on my computer done ASAP, the gentleman expedited my job while finishing up other jobs he needed to get done before his family hiatus. Job was done with high level of professionalism, reasonable price, & to my complete satisfaction. I'll get another year out of my computer before cycling up (I hope)!

I recently bought a refurbished iPad here. The customer service was top notch and very helpful with informing me on the differences between different models. I have also purchased multiple computers here over the years and have always been happy with the experience. The service counter is always knowledgeable and prompt with repairs.

in my individualized and personal experiences, when ever i visit this store, i never feel like i received an honest answer, fair sale or or price. i always feel like i am being sized up for a fast one.

Oh man, this place is the best possible place you can go for computer repair for apple computers. My macbook pro was acting up and when I went to the apple store to find out how long it would take for my computer to get fixed, I was told 2 weeks. I said screw that and took it here. MUCH FASTER! Not only did they repair my computer quickly, they made sure my warranty took care of anything. The people here are beyond friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I am speechless.

Purchased a computer for my business about a year and half ago, not long after purchased another of the same. No issues at all. Both used daily and running perfectly. Staff was extremely friendly. Prices were more than fair, everything I needed was right there in stock. Thank you.

I had an excellent experience at Kaplan Computers. The employee who greeted me was instantly available to hear about my problem, and was able to identify the exact way it had happened within a minute. They then offered to take my computer in immediately, and before I had even finished filling out the paperwork they had ordered the part and they stated that they would do the repair immediately after the park arrived. 10/10 would recommend everyone with a broken laptop or who is looking to buy a laptop from a physical store to come here.

Edit 2: They fixed the computer in only 3 business days! I m impressed by their quickness and easy ability to do repairs. Highly recommend anyone with a broken laptop to come here, you ll have it back probably in less than a week!

The prices for repairs, diagnostics, and products are absolutely ridiculous. For all cases I explored - including monitors, power supplies, and other peripheries, their prices we at least 3 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE than online retailers (including shipping costs!!!!!)- and Kaplan is selling the item used - I'm buying it new. As far as repairs, I use another local repair guy that is incredibly knowledgable, does free diagnostics, and charges about 1/2 the rate than Kaplan does.

This place is a rip off their Macs are way over priced so I bought one somewhere else. Then When my Mac gave me problems I stopped in to see if they can see what wrong with it they wanted $79 just to see what's wrong wit it. I ran out of there and went to the Apple Store at Evergreen walk. They went to the back for 5 mins reset my battery and I was good to go for the grand Total of zero dollars, free ! Don't waste your time here they will rip you off

I was helping my grandparents with their Asus computer, as they had gotten an error message on startup about their hard drive being locked. Before, they took it to Kaplan where after a $60 diagnostic and cleaning, they were quoted for a $300 bill. They took the computer back without getting it repaired and I checked it out. I turned the computer on, it was running fine and after a few scans and backups it was back to normal. It leaves me thinking that they may have been taking advantage of seniors with an older computer (5 years). Wouldn't recommend.

I endorse Kaplan Computers as a reliable and competent spot to have your apple device fixed. I had a problem with my Macbook Pro. The connection where the charger is plugged was broken and my laptop couldn't be charged. On top of that, my charger was dead too.

They did an amazing job, changed the piece that was necessary and provided me with a new charger, bringing my laptop back to life again! The service was done fast by a fair fee. I am glad that I chose Kaplan Computers to fix my mac.
