Love this hospital nothing but great Doctors and nurses. I have been a patient in this hospital 3 times.

This place is full of amazing doctors, nurses and support staff. They saved my son's life. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the KP network is so full of red tape that the staff has a hard time doing the best job they can.

All the support staff thus far has been great, however, Alysa or Alicia, was extremely disappointing. This is a healthcare not a prison. Her level of professionalism is very much concerning. Treat people with respect! One day, your loved ones may be on the other side of the fence receiving care and god forbid you encounter someone with your careless and inpatient manner.

As a foreigner with $10 million in travel insurance, I was patient dumped to a public hospital after being told it was a facility only for KP members. The pain medication provided was 1/4 a therapeutic amount and I was at risk for organ failure when they dumped me. If you are a foreigners, find another hospital. This one seems to be founded on greed and poor care.

Not happy with the appointments and changing my PCP.
I am a Kaiser member in OC and my PCP was always Dr. Roya Hormozdyaran. In January 2016 I had to move to LA for my school and couldn t come to OC to see her anymore. Therefore I called Kaiser and asked them to temporarily transferring me to east LA medical hospital. They did. I was so sick and they suggested a PCP to me, Dr. Park. The only word I have for him is he needs to go back to Med School and review his courses! Seems like he just graduated from school and started working there! He was not knowledgable at all and I, as patient, had to suggest/guess the medication that was needed for my condition! He had no idea of what the treatment would be and what medications are good for me! The only expression from him was: yeah we can try this! We can try that! Obviously I am not a guinea pig to test different medications on! I feel so sorry for him and for Kaiser! Haven t seen any unknowledgeable Dr before and this is the worst experience I have ever had with Kaiser! Didn t go to visit him anymore and it was first and last visit ever with Dr Park!
After a year I moved back to OC and I wanted to transfer back my membership from LA to OC. They did and I was able to visit my PCP Dr. Roya! She is very sweet and knowledgable and I do recommend her to everyone! ( I know she is not accepting new patients anymore :(. Anyway, after almost couple of months had passed from my last visit with her, I wanted to make an appointment with her in September. I was told that I am not her patient anymore and my PCP is Dr Park in LA! Omg! I explained the whole story again to the representative she said she could do nothing for me because Dr Roya s plan is now full and is she is not accepting new patients and I had to choose another PCP in Irvine!
I dont know what s happening in Kaiser! Maybe there is a problem in their system I dont know! My PCP is Dr Roya and I want to visit her again! Really disappointed with Kaiser!

My daughter and I had the worst experience at this Hospital. The pediatric care unit nurse Mona was heartless and didn t have the professional approach dealing with a sick child. She was rude and her behavior was unacceptable, I had her removed from our room. I never ever want to come back to this place. DON T BRING YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS HOSPITAL!! Look elsewhere for proper loving care.

Why bothering writing a review for such a big company?
Actually not very sure, I am just another regular client.
I am not only unsatisfied but concerned and scared about what does having a "renamed" health insurance really means here in USA.
After paying for more than 2 years my insurance (this is the time I arrived in the USA- originally from Europe) almost 1k a month, I required an emergency visit to a doctor due to an infection (My regular doctor would not have given me an appointment prior of a month later).
I got charged, for an emergency 250$ on my way out. I could not believe it- what do the people with half of my incomes do????.
1 month later I received another bill for 330$- plus an invoice showing the expenses- clearly show the total amount of 500$.
The employee who took my call said I should be responsible of reading my policy, and that is the single answer I received after paying 250$ + a bill of 330$ .But the invoice shows 500$ as the total cost of the EMERGENCY visit.
Shouldn't be an emergency covered by an almost 1k insurance??????
What's going on?
I can see why there are hundreds of people dying on the streets and millions of veterans destroyed at their houses without having the "right" of a single emergency!!!
*Not to mention that 2 different people came on to my short emergency visit just to promote flu vaccinations complete overwhelmed by my opposition to a NON-JUSTIFIED vaccine to a perfectly healthy woman on her thirties ( it was-is on SPRING season almost summer).
Flue vaccines are free, but be aware of an emergency.
This is SERIOUS. We are talking about HUMAN BEINGS!.
wake up world farmas are paying this insurances to give you flue vaccines all year around....but they wont help you during an emergency without taking loads of money from you even with an insurance.

Horrible doctors and staff when my father coded. The doctor coldly told us that his was gone without any concern of the life that was lost. And one of the male nurses even stole my aunts phone and when confronted with the fact that his was the last person in the room... he magically turned up with it 10 mins later. A horrible day turned worse.I would never step foot in this hospital again and if you care about your loved ones I recommend going elsewhere.

very good medical staff - no real problems there. BUT they have lost a (regular) payment i made to them via digital bank transfer. NEVER SEND MONEY TO THEM via the web as 6 months later they REFUSE to help me. They have failed to address my lost $500.
8 - 10 hours of calls, faxes and letters AND elevated to their complaints procedure . STILL no solution. They even recommended that i needed a lawyer to get the money back.
Feels like Daylight robbery. Theft. and a 100% failed customer "service" department

I have been a Kaiser patient for over 40 years and my kids all in their 20s have been patients since birth and tonight I am disgusted with an employee who threatened my daughter, his name was Dennis from financial services/admitting dept. He refused to give information about who the manager was and threatened my daughter at the Sunset and Edgemont hospital. I have been in the medical field line of work and cant believe the horrible customer service.

In September I spent four or five days at this facility in the final stages of recovery from a brain aneurysm. The really big problem was sanitation the bed I was in didn't look like it had been cleaned in well a very long time. When we pointed it out one of the poor nurses tried to clean it with sanitary wipes and that was fruitless. The coup de grace came when I finally was able to get up and use the toilet I was a bit unsteady and had a misfire leaving urine on the floor and that's where it stayed for the balance of my time there. A nursed rubbed it around using a rag on his foot tossed those rags in the shower stall and they stayed there the whole time. If I could avoid it I would never return to this facility.
Some of the staff were very nice however most seemed overworked and at least felt they were underpaid. One nurse actually told me she was doing double shifts at another healthcare facility. The food was bland and not so great.
It took them about 10 hours to process me to get out of the place seemed like forever.

Switching to Kaiser is one of the best decisions I've ever made. My son had to have an outpatient procedure here and it couldn't have gone any smoother. Everyone who works here is warm and caring, and the doctors are the best in LA.

Staff have been great to my wife on her appointments! Thank you! If they hadn't been so great, I'd rate much lower due to their parking structure. How can a hospital parking structure possibly have such a low height clearance of only 6 feet??? A stock F150 is 6'8" tall. I had to stop and turn around while dropping my wife off for an appointment.

The doctor and assigned male nurse were amazing. I was out of the facility within the hour.
However, my concern was parking. There was only one person ahead of me and less the 7 patients inside, being attended. Yet, all the valet and yellow parking spaces were utilized by Kaiser employees. I watched them as I was forced to drive in circles until one parking space opened.
Besides that, the medical care is thorough, efficient, and mostly friendly.

I have been with Kaiser my whole life. As with any hospital, you will sometimes get bad doctors, but on the whole, I have been extremely satisfied with my experience there. I have a lot of medical conditions so see a lot of specialists and have been hospitalized several times. Plus my parents both use Kaiser too. We don't have to fight to get treatments like so many people I know do.
Kaiser was among the first hospital systems, let alone large ones like Kaiser, to get our records put on computer. So every time I see a doctor, that person can access whatever visit records or test results from my past they might need. And they use the computers to make sure there are no errors in giving medicine in the ER and hospital, since they have to scan your wrist band before giving you anything. The doctor types it into the computer in the first place to avoid handwriting errors, and the computer checks that there aren't any interactions among your medications with each new prescription.
I like that I can email my doctors, and now they have phone appointments for some medical issues. I can also view my lab tests online as soon as they become available. Mental health is also part of my coverage. Plus, I usually have to wait only 15 minutes or less to get taken to a bed in the ER at the Sunset facility, opposed to many hours at most hospitals.
No system is perfect, but this is about as close as we can get.

TLDR: Kaiser failed to catch treatable problems leaving me with a lifetime of, near constant, low level pain and joint problems.
While I was growing up I heard from people and media that Kaiser was quality healthcare. As grown up I believe the opposite. With the exception of the Mental Health Department, I have to say that I was not given adequate care. For years I suffered from back pain and digestive distress. Kaiser insisted on doing various tests, but the one test they never did was a simple back x-ray. I have scoliosis this caused the pain and the digestive problems, now its to late for any correction to my scoliosis, I'll have to live with some pain for the rest of my life. It was treatable if it had been caught early when I first made complaints, now at best I can reduce my symptoms with physical therapy. In addition they never caught the fact that I had collapsing arches. It was only diagnosed by another healthcare provider when I had done enough damage knees that I collapsed one day, ironically, while running for my health. Would not recommend.

In November 1951, the nonprofit Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals broke ground for a new cutting-edge facility in East Hollywood. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by some of the most high-profile real estate developers, labor leaders, politicians, and hospital administrators in Los Angeles, including representatives from Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, and Methodist Hospital.
I was born here in 1960, and forty years later I worked on the demolition of the original building.

'Factory' after care. Patient machines beeping frequently with more than 5 minutes before anyone responds (usually only after pushing nurse's call button)-just frequent and apparently pointless alarms beeping. Patients are woke up from sleep for room transfers at 2:15am. Laughable signs and announcements about the value of quiet time for 'healing rest.' Not expecting hotel-like stay...However, by the fourth night following successful brain surgery, sleep deprivation was real. Complaining only resulted in earning a 'reputation' and bothering roommates. On a positive note, the $14 per day parking fee was waived after the fourth day of stay.

Kaiser Made Me Sicker than I was before I went there. With their total corporate attitude,Kaiser is more concerned about revenues than doing good medicine. Doc here prescribed Rx after I said I was allergic, I had an awful reaction. Then All They Cared About was keeping from being sued. Did not care about my health after incident just not being sued. TERRIBLE It's all about money, they do not care about your health, just their bottom line. All they did was cover their a---es and NOTHING to help me get healthy again. TERRIBLE. Kaiser Lancaster Made Me Sicker than I was before I went there. I doubt it's any better in Palmdale.

Horrible customer service. I have been waiting in this office for 2 hours and 30 mimutes, waiting in the EMERGENCY ROOM. Comes to find out they have 3 different branches and the branch I need does NOT OPEN UNTIL 12:00 PM. When I had been checked in, they did not tell me it was going to take 2 hours. They told me, "When a bed is available, the doctor will call you". Around 11:25 they called in another patient and said "Put him in a bed". How can you make someone wait in agonizing pain. All I want is brace for my thumb! Takes barely 5 minutes to wrap that up and send me on my way.... Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Horrible service! After finallt checking me in. I have been waiting in a room for results. I live at the Covenant House of California and Kaiser Permanente has made me miss lunch by not telling me my services will be looked at by 12 when I was here by 9:30. I posted the first part of the review around 11:35 am, now it is 1:09 pm. Ive been here over 5 hours. Where as my real services took 20 minutes... so 20 minutes/5 Hours? That means 4 hours and 40 minutes of me just waiting around.... WAITING! Why! ALL I NEED IS A BRACE FOR MY THUMB!

It was a nightmare trying to schedule a colonoscopy appointment. First time I called, it said that my hold time would be between 8-11 minutes. I was on hold for almost an hour until I finally had to hang up.
The second time I called, it said the hold time would be the same (8-11 minutes); this time I chose the option to have them call me when it was my turn. Waited 2 hours without a call.
I called again for a third time and was on hold for over an hour (even though I was given the same 8-111 minute hold time). When the representative finally answered, I expressed my frustration about the situation, ,especially since it was for scheduling an important surgical procedure.
He said nothing, at first I thought we got disconnected. After I asked if he was still there, he finally replied asking what I was calling about. I asked him his name, but he refused to give me his last name.
After seeing the overall reviews online were negative, I felt the need to also provide my input so that they will do something about this. One and a half stars is not acceptable for something as important as health insurance and customer service.

Great Drs. The staff in recovery area on 3rd floor are absolutely rude and disrespectful. Hanging up on family members and refusing to answer questions. The cafe (starbucks & cashiers) staff are rude and disrespectful as well. They should leave their problems at home and have a positive attitude while at work. The bathrooms on the 3rd floor are filthy as well as the waiting room. Food on the floor and in the chairs where it creases.

You absolutely MUST know how Kaiser system works. They have unspoken rules..written no where to be found.- you have to figure what is the best route for you. My level of treatment has diminished thru the years..many! Drs that once practiced medicine have been replaced with PHYSICIANS ASSISTS..Not what I signed up for. I want knowledgeable board- certified medical practitioners. A FEW GOOD MEN!!! (AND WOMEN) M D s still there..going fast and NOT being replaced with MDs. a Like Member Service..staffed 10 years ago with Professionals- need an answer..they fixed your problem EVERYONE. EVERY TIME! ! Now..? Awful. They are of little help.. NO KNOWLEDGE. no resolution. Time to go..And take all family and company..they WERE 5 star. (Dr Ray Marcus was director..good Dr.!!!) Then 4star.. Now..less.
They have to do better or else.

RUN RUN RUN AWAY!!!. Kaiser keeps misdiagnosing my stroke and encephalitis symptoms as Migraines. A quick look up of the neurologists that have misdiagnosed me showed that they went to low quality medical schools. I found a good neurologist outside of Kaiser, but Kaiser refuses to send them a referral. Kaiser is a dangerous place for a sick person. I will be changing insurance providers very soon.

I am putting 1 Star for the review of customer service on this particular experience!!! Today I went to visit my dad with my daughter with me. We used the first floor elevator for visitors. At that time an EVS staff was mopping the outside floor of the elevator and the poster stand was out in between one of the opened elevator to keep it open (I guess she just finished mopping it. So when we press the UP button it won't work since one door is opened. We tried it several times and finally I asked her kindly if she can have the open elevator close so we can go up. She rudely told me to just press the button and when o told her it doesn't work she rudely answered back just pressed both and she did it so one of the door opened to go up. I was a bit annoyed but I still thank her for doing that and asked her name (I saw her name on her uniform - Debra or Debbie) and she answered back with a mocking face to me "ohh I'm so scared" even the other lady who was also a visitor was surprised with the attitude this housekeeper showed us. I am truly mad on what happen but mostly sad because I worked at KP for almost 18 years before I left and my husband and my other family is still employee of Kaiser. We take pride of being Kaiser and I know how we value customer service. My husband and I always tell our kids how proud we are to work for Kaiser and for my daughter to witness the rudeness of a kaiser employee is a big disappointment!!! The housekeeper might be having her own problem/issue but it is no excuse to do that to anyone especially to your members.

I've been to the emergency room twice in my life. The first time was at the LAC-USC because I was a student at USC. I was there for more than 12 hours. The second time was few years later at Kaiser. I was seen immediately and left the hospital in less than 3 hours. I would've probably left in an hour but they wanted to monitor me.
Kaiser is big on efficiency. Therefore they operate like robots. Everything is timed. All the processes are timed. How long the doctor should spend time with you is timed. Even nurses are timed. The result is good service.

I just got out of the hospital on the 23rd of March 2018.. I am a severe Type A hemophiliac who was rushed down to LA. I had a gall bladder that had 4 stones in it and was inflamed. I needed surgery to save my life. However I am so severe that operations can kill me cause I'll bleed to death. Normal medicine doesn't work on me... So the whole staff was working on my behalf to save my life. Dr. Michael Glowalla my hematologist was AWESOME. He has saved me now at least 4 times. The nurses on the 6th floor were amazing. The pain I was in made it so hard to move or do anything. But every nurse was aware of my condition and they all were really gentle with me so not to cause additional bleeding. The surgeons came in daily to give me updates on how they would tackle the impossible of trying to stop the bleeding and remove my gall bladder without touching any other organs and make them bleed as well. The whole staff was great. 6th floor nurses were awesome.. before and after surgery. As well as the ICU dept. Nurses. The professional treatment really made me happy and secure even knowing that I could die didn't give me pause for concern. The staff was like an orchestra and everyone had their place and part to play in the outcome of my survival. The Hospitals minister was AWESOME.. I saw him 3 times in my 2 and half week stay. He prayed over me and anointed me if I remember correctly. You cannot forget him.. a minister in a wheelchair paralyzed from the waist down with a smile that infects everyone around him. Kaiser does a great job taking care of patients and parents. Kaiser allowed my mom to stay in my room as well, so my mom never left my side. The operation was a success and i lived through the surgery. Kaisers Doctors all had a hand in my survival because they didn't rush me to surgery.. they treated me with antibiotics first and made sure I was well enough for surgery and knew all they could about my disease and the consequences if they made any mistakes. My life was in Kaiser doctors hands. I couldn't ask for better medical care. Everytime I had to urinate or needed ice and ice water the nursing staff were always very nice and kind and accommodating towards my needs. Anytime day or night they were there and answered my room calls within a few mins and if it was longer they reached out to me and said they were coming right after they finished their current job. I've never stayed that long in a hospital before with such serious health problems. Kaiser went above and beyond their duties.. they listened to me and always offered assistance in anything that I needed. Rehab staff was nice and were not pushy or mean. They encouraged me to move and walk longer each and every day they saw me. In the end I was one of the first successfully Severe Type A Hemophiliacs to survive a surgery of this kind. The inflamed gall bladder was taken out of me and not a single issue came from that. Kaiser Surgeons did their job very well. My surgeon had over a 1000 gall bladder removals. And was experienced and very confident even though he knew I could die on his operation table. He said he was gonna do everything he could to save my life and be careful and gentle and remove my gall bladder. And he did just that.. who could ask for more ? Kaiser doctors and staff prolonged my life and I get to live again. Granted I was swollen and in extreme pain but I was alive and survived. Even the wonderful wheelchair escort I was provided as I left the hospital bed was friendly and upbeat. A wonderful person .. she had me laughing and smiling. I just want to thank Kaiser for the tremendous effort they made to save my life and once again Dr. Michael Glowalla saved me again with his perfect plan to stop my bleeding and treat it for 11 days after my surgery. Way better than what my local hospital could do for me. So I am extremely grateful and blessed to still be here and I'm still recovering but I'm alive and well.. thanks to some wonderful people , nurses, doctors, specialists, surgeons, rehab, and Hospital Minister.. Forever grateful Christopher Espinosa

This has to be the best hospital I have even been to! If you give kaiser a weak review, you must have never been to any other hospital. I went to St. Mary's up untill I was 20 and switched to kaiser. Like switching from the ghettos to a mansion in Beverly hills.

My stepfather recently stayed at Kaiser for a triple bypass. I've had years of experience with ailing loved ones as non-Kaiser facilities. As a result, I was dreading the experience, but it ended up being one of the most positive of our lives. The physicians, nurses, and all care-givers including staff who take lunch orders, are just spectacular. Everyone is so kind, helpful, and cheerful. Also, the hospital facility itself is so bright and open, infused with sunlight. A nurse in the cafeteria standing in line in front of my mom actually bought my mom dessert just to be kind. I don't know what makes this facility so unique but it should be a model for other organizations, including those outside of health care. Truly inspiring. And yes, my stepdad came through the procedure in great shape, owing to Kaiser's tremendous care.

I had two Angiograms this year. That's the Cardic Catheterization procedure. Ohhh I was so impressed regarding their crew starting
from the front desk, Miriam. She was so helpful in person and on the
telephone regarding my dilemmas. On my second CAT I brought the front desk area a dozen chocolate roses. Also in the preparation room for the procedure I brought them a dozen too. The RN were great, especially Ramon. He was very pleasant to be around. Now it's pretty much all business there with little emotions to get in the way. I just love their team
big time! Thank You Doctors very much!

The staff I always deal with is great. The problem is the cost of parking. I never leave here without having to pay at least $10 in parking (the max is $14 or $17 I cannot remember the eight amount.) KP Sunset is the location patients come to for hospital stays or visits for specialized care (ie Oncology, Nephrology, etc.) The cost of larking to see a specialized doctor is ridiculous!
