I ve been a kaiser member since I was born. I ve never had a bad experience except for a couple of days ago when I went to the ER due to my entire left side of my body being tensed up. I walked in to check in, gave the attendant my ID to search my name up and she specifically asked me is j your middle initial I said yes. So she proceeds to put in the info in her computer and gives me an attitude saying they can t attend me because I m not a member. Keep in mind everything I said at the beginning of this review. So I keep insisting I am and I ve always been. So she asked me for my social and I gave it to her and finally my name came up. GET THIS. My name wasn t coming up because she didn t submit my middle initial. I don t remember her name but i t was a Filipino lady real skinny maybe her late 20s early 30s this was the only time I ve ever had an issue and I could ve been seriously hurt and embarrassed if they couldn t attend me because she didn t submit my middle initial. Then she laughed it off after another nurse told her what she did wrong. Don t let this happen again. Great nurses and doctors though, as soon as I m being attended I feel a sense of relief because I know they re e great.

An injury, earned in my younger years, decided to make a reappearance. Back surgery was required. My family is a member of Kaiser Permanente, an HMO, and I was sent to their surgery center at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. (In Southern California there are about two dozen Kaiser Permanente medical facilities. Each has a specialty.) It is located on Sunset Boulevard just a few blocks from the Hollywood studios.

Since I am having trouble walking, a hospital volunteer sat me in a wheelchair and pushed me to reception. I was greeted, ID taken, and quickly moved to the surgery waiting room. The volunteer stayed until the nurse arrived. A few minutes later I was laying in a hospital bed, gowned.

Every person I met showed courtesy and care. I never felt alone.

The laparoscopic surgery went well. I went home a couple of hours later.

This was the third operation I've had at the Los Angeles Medical Center. Each time, thank goodness, the procedure was successful, and the care and courtesy shown was all you could expect. Jessie Lee, my pre-op nurse, on behalf of the KP medical team, drop me a note thanking me for letting them take care of me. Wow. Never expected that.

Of course, everything is wheelchair accessible. My wife, who accompanied me, said the cafeteria was a long walk. Valet parking is available. The multi-story parking facility is located across the street from the hospital. Electric charging is available.

On November 2 , 2017 I called appointment center to schedule a same day appointment with my doctor, as usual there were no openings for ANY doctor which is horrible in itself. The rep who I dont have the name of advises me to visit Urgent Care. The rep DID NOT inform me that the Urgent Care facility on Sunset had moved. I paid an Uber to take me there and to my dismay it was the wrong location. Member services rep should HAVE TOLD ME that the location has been changed. Thus paying for an Uber ride to the wrong location I had to walk 4 blocks while sick to go to the new location.

Upon finally getting to Urgent Care lady named "A. Mariano" laughed at me when I asked her if I could pay a partial co pay. She says "no, you must pay THE ENTIRE AMOUNT" . Ridiculous considering all the money I have paid for this bs insurance and medications.. I would have gladly paid the copay had it been billed to me but that option was not given to me. Then after talking to another lady at Urgent Care she said that that option should have been given to me and to contact member services to see if I can get this copay waived after the above inconveniences . I called them on Friday Nov 3 and also on Mon Nov 13. When I called today the rep transferred me to another lady named "marquisha" and she did not know who to route me with after 20 mintues on hold. i finally had to get off the phone with no answer and have not heard from anyone . WORST "MEDICAL' SERVICES, CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND INTERACTION WITH ANY HEALTH 'PROFESSIONALS' IVE EVER HAD

On November 16th 2017 like around 10:30pm, I got to this hospital to the emergency room, I was in pain and bleeding a lot from a miscarriage I was having , as soon as I got here they checked me in right away put me in a wheel chair, and put me in a clean bed, from reception, to the staff that night, the doctors and nurses that took care of me were great, they really took care of me and I truly appreciate it, God Bless them...this hospital it's simply the best in Hollywood.....Thank you to the doctors and nurses that took care of me that night!!!

I just don't like spending half my time at my regular appointment listening to my doctor convince me to get a flu shot. I just prefer to wave my flu shot. That time wasted was valuable time for me. Ask me if I want a flu shot but respect if I say no, don't give me the pitch to convince me. Make a note of my preference and treat me for why I'm there.

Well.. it's a very large HMO.. Members only. .thru employer or private pay (expensive if you are over 30!!!) They have an 800 number to call for private membership. There are copays, premiums monthly etc.. Hospital and medical covered if you have Medicare or private..but with limitations in benefits AND COPAY AFTER COPAY!!.. What KP pays is\ what care MCdoes not pay (approx 20%) Call them for details 8:30 am to 5 pm M-F.

For your own safety and well being, stay away from Dr. Melineh Shajanian. Without my consent, she performed exams on me and I felt violated there after. She refused to listen to me and did not follow protocol. She should have her license revoked for her behavior. I hope no other women falls to her hands again.

When scheduling an appointment in advanced one expects to be treated as quickly as possible. Am I right? Well don't expect that here.

I accompaned my sister to the Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles for a health check up. Her appointment was 2:00pm we came in by 1:30pm. We traveld from North Hollywood in a rainstorm just to get here.

Even though my sister made an appointment a week in advance we were in the waiting room for an hour! There were many people in the waiting room who were walkins they came in before us and were attended faster. That makes no sense lol. What a joke!

My sister ask the receptionist why she has not be attended yet. He was very kind just a pleasure! He did say, "She is at a meeting right now."

Wait what do you mean she is at a meeting right now? Girl what! Might as well not have scheduled an appointment. And she didn't even hurry up when the reception ist told her we had been waiting on her. She took her sweet ass time.

The receptionist came out his booth and he was like, "Omg your still here?"

I am possed af. I was like jesus take the whell because I am heated!

I have hard time dealing with OBGYN. Hard to see my doctor when i have issue with complications, i can't even call my doctor, they only give you nurse's number or i can email the doctor but they never write back early.
So even with paying LOTS of money for this insurance, i have to do my own homework to get my own service that should be suggested by Doctors. I have miscarried twice but I only remember seeing ER doctors then my actual doctor. they simply were not available. I am now considering to cut this Kaiser Insurance and almost want to sue them.

My mother, who has Kaiser through Medicare, had surgery in December 2017. She received EXCELLENT care throughout the entire experience: check in, surgery, and a week of recovery in the hospital (over Christmas!). Her surgeon, Dr. Victoria O'Connor, and her team were fantastic - thoughtful, caring and professional. And all of the nurses and staff in ICU and Telemetry provided top notch care.
Thank you Kaiser Sunset!

This place is my second home considering I am always getting hurt. But I am also always treated like a human which is more than most people in different hospitals can say. Great service and I hope to stay with Kaiser forever!

Review for Vision Essentials at this location.

Review for Vision Essentials at this location.

My wife was quoted a cost of $45 copay and a $79 contact fitting fee. This was in line with what a standard optometrist would cost, so we assumed the quote was accurate. After the exam we received a bill for $185 which we had to pay. As this part was not covered by our insurance through Kaiser. We were not originally informed of this final cost when quoted on Kaiser's optometry services. If we had known the final cost beforehand, my wife would have gone elsewhere. We were effectively lied to. We do not continue business with an entity which has lied to us. Still, the exam and doctor were both pleasant, and we were given rebate offers for contacts which we took advantage of. However, even one of the rebates is still processing (an issue with Bausch and Lomb, not Kaiser, I assume) a year later.Get your optometry services elsewhere.

This review is long overdue! My son was admitted to the pediatrics dept.in April 2019 at LAMC. From the first day to our last day, the experience was absolutely great. We were there for 4 nights, 5 days while my little guy recuperated from a lung infection. All the nurses, physicians, residents and staff provided top notch quality care. I was informed of everything that was occurring every step of the way. Thank you KP LAMC for the amazing care you provided my son, and for keeping me sane through the whole process! A special thank you to Dean Harper from the cafeteria, for being so wonderful to my son and for making him smile every time you came by to take his food order :)

I went to the emergency room at this KP hospital and was worried about my costs since I don't have insurance. I went in for a stomach virus and the staff took care of me very well! When the financial consultant came to ask me about my insurance I told her I had none but was prepared to pay what I needed even though I'm financially a mess. She then said she would try to see if I qualified to have my bill paid for by the hospital. I was shocked that this was possible. She got my info and said she was going to try and have my bill not be paid out of my own pocket. I wouldn't know the outcome until I checked out of the ER. Once I finally checked out and spoke with the woman who would give me the bad or good news of my total amount she then said "you're all set! No pay!" I was so relived and happy that my visit there wasn't a waste. I got the fluids I needed and medication to help my nausea/vomiting. And didn't pay a cent. I thank this hospital and would recommend going there for anything. Happy as a clam!!!!

Started out good ..but when they found out I was houseless things got wierd. When i got discharged nurse came over and aggressively ripped off my patient band... I was told that my insurance did not cover an ortho brace for my knee which went sideways. Horrible people horrible place.. Patient bathrooms had piss all over floor not one but everyone.. Never go here.. Well unless youre the rich elite..good care for them but not other humans.. Security guard would not even get me a wheel chair...said they only had three and they were in use.. I have severe PTSD this hospital does not have training to deal with mental health issues.. Threatened me with security . Social worker looked like a greasy mob boss and was very rude.. SAT AWAY AT ALL COSTS ..THESE ARE THE KIND OF WORKERS THAT GET PEOPLE KILLED..

Everytime I need a refill for a medication the pharmacy fails to keep in contact with me thus causing me to make appointments over and over. When I got my x-ray for my scoliosis kaiser showed no concern to help me stay informed with physical therapy or to inform me of my scoliosis. Till this day I do not know the curvature of my spine.

My son was sent there last night after a severe case of food poisoning. I'm 1700 miles away in New Orleans, and we could not get in touch with his roommate. My husband is a physician, so we understand patient privacy, but my son was disoriented and could not tell him his basic health issues, of which I provided. I asked to speak to him, and Tonni, a nurse, told me he did not want to talk to me. I told her he was probably confused, and please explain it to him, and she said he understood and did not want me to know anything. I said: If he can't tell you his medical history, could not tell you that his medical history is on an app on his phone, could not tell you his roommate, then he's confused. He was just released and he tells me that the nurse did not tell him anything, and he wanted to talk to me but was confused, and they left him in his own mess. The care was terrible and they lied to me and him. They also tried to keep him for other tests, when it was a clear case of his electrolytes being off balanced after severe food poisoning. .

A great building with a great future. Personally, I had an MRI here and it was spectacular especially on my first MRI. There doctors and nurses were very helpful and friendly, while still having that joy that stands out. I also had a Contrast injection into my shoulder, X-ray included. If you have a problem with something and you live in the county, then you should seriously go here.

IF YOU HAVE KAISER CANCEL AS SOON AS YOU HAVE OPEN...

IF YOU HAVE KAISER CANCEL AS SOON AS YOU HAVE OPEN ENROLLMENT. They are fine if you are healthy and can wait months and months for appointments. But, if some is wrong, such as cancer, it's hopeless. We got what should have been a second opinion within 3 days of diagnosis. We've been waiting for weeks to get someone in Kaiser to help us get the first opinion since we're required to use Kaiser. The paper work goes from department to department from desk to desk. No one can help or do anything about it. At this point I imagine it will be months until we get the surgery. We can't even get them to order MRI's or CT scan which we know we need. The people are kind on the phone, I'll give them that. But, that's about all I give them. I'm not sure what good insurance is if the system won't give cancer patients appointments. UPDATE: I've bumped them up to 2 stars. We did get an appointment and have surgery scheduled. The surgeons seem nice and we've heard good things about the oncology surgeon. However, after the treatment we got from the GP and the circles we had to go through to get the appointment, I still can't give more than 2 stars. This is your health... splurge for a PPO so that you have the ability to make your own medical decisions.

Been with Kaiser for over ten tears. Even the doctors say it has gone drastically downhill over the last five years. Overworked and rude doctors, musty old building, pay for parking, pay for visits, pay... pay... pay... Prescriptions get lost half the time, especially if you use mail service. If I had any better option, I'd dump all of Kaiser in a heartbeat with a song in my heart.

I was was rushed in by the paramedics for a threaten miscarriage, I had a subchronic hemorrhage bleed. Dr. Lui was amazing in the ER department , nurses on the other hand they don t have the dedication and passion for what they do. As I was brought in I literally had to say my date of birth 6x and the nurses wouldn t catch it , and as they giggle since it was funny to them, and I continued to bleed down to my ankles. Once registers and it the room one very kind nurse cleaned my legs and help me put a pad , medical gown and a medical underwear as I was in severe abdominal pain. Other than that i asked for socks , I was not assisted on putting them on. I was left to go to the restroom out in the hallway with out being checked up on , considering I was dizzy. Nurses don t come in to check up on you as often as they should. You are literally unattended for long periods of time. They did give me a sandwich and juice which I m very thankful for. Rooms are very clean. Ultrasound was very efficient. Thank god baby is safe , heart beat is there. Once discharge I Asked for a copy of the ultrasound report to show my oB how big was the subchronic hemorrhage and I was denied copy and sent to medical records which nurse told me she didn t know were it was considering I am still bleeding. Once home I called medical records was on line for 1 hour , and no answer ever came. Luckily I took note of my dx. Yet it would be of great help for my oB to know the sizing of and have a full report of the ultrasound. Other than that, thank you Dr.Lui for being such help in such scary time for me. Thank you! compassion comes hand by hand with a nursing career

This is for the Pediatrics Dept. female NURSE of Dr. Svetlana Marout. She is very rude, unprofessional, tries to talk down to my spouse and I and even held one of my 2 year child down on a hospital bed for crying like if she was a 5150 patient. Both my children fill the bad vibes from her and she always is laughing and talking bad amongst her and other coworkers. She has no right to try and belittle anyone when she has no parenting experience if both parents are present for children s appointments. My children s old nurse who was loving, compassionate, professional and caring named Levon left to peruse her RN career which is great but it s hard when the great nurses leave and they keep the trash. Kaiser Permanente needs to have more training for Pediatric patients. I pray when she becomes a parent she never has to encounter what she did to us and think it s okay to do that. I ve worked in the medical field for 15 years plus been a Kaiser Permanente Member for many years and it s a great Corporation to work for but makes me upset some people that work here don t know how to appreciate a good company. Every parent should always speak for their kids especially if they know the hospital staff isn t doing the proper procedure and protocols of the hospitals.

LAWRENCE EDWARD WELLS I went into the emergency room here and was not only talked down to and belittled but the Doctor played word games and tried to make me sound like I was mixing up symptoms, then brought another dr in and proceeded to treat me like garbage. I have ptsd also and they could tell and tried very hard to exasperate it, going so far as surrounding me, having a nurse rip my armband off (so nobody knew I had come?) then didn't give me follow up information I asked for. The security and nurse were trying very hard to upset me which was very confusing as I thought I was in a place of healers. They thought I was homeless because i didn't want to give them my address and everything got really weird. They were sending off very scary vibes and I actually began to feel I was in danger. After reading some of these other comments I see I'm not the only one to have this "weird" experiment. My bracelet was FORCEFULLY removed which made me feel very ill at ease. When I returned to the lobby Before I could sit down I had a security guard telling me I needed to leave the lobby as its only for patients.. Even though I just came out of the ER and was calling a ride. Overall the vibe was "organ harvest" level terrifying. Don't ever go here. Lawrence Edward Wells Murder Doctor. Trust me this guy is a psychopath and its actually obvious because he says one thing with his words and another with his face, openly creepy, humored, murderous video together. Like a horror film. I facetimed my mother in the dr's office because I was so terrified and muted her in case something happened to me. I finally told them my address which is in a multimillion dollar neighborhood because I was afraid I wouldn't make it out of this place alive. Ive never felt like this before and I took a cab home because I was to nervous to wait in the vicinity of the Hospital. Disgusting. I don't have any history of anxiety or panic attacks. If you're homeless, avoid this place. I'm now afraid of doctors and don't know how ill seek medical help in the future with anyone other than my primary care physician.

The staff and attending physicians we encountered were professional, except for one case manager, Linda Coy. She came in the patient room, asked 2 questions and was unprofessional and rude when she came in the room. I was shocked with the fact that she works at this medical facility as a case manager.

Kaiser can be good and bad. I believe the doctors are on a time clock. But my doctor told me my problem, but I think she underestimate how much work I do. But I with her because she was close to my job..not my home so I didn't see her like I would have liked, but I saw others as the pain didn't go away. But she was correct. She I want to keep her, but it's not easy to see her . I just don't do pain pills, but they told me more natural ways...I loved that.

The so-called physician Tan Tanh or whatever the hell was extremely condescending and rude. Mental health is not taken seriously here. Wait to see a psychiatrist if you're having a crisis because they will do nothing for your mental health.

You can not get in to see your regular Dr without 6 months notice. Anytime a member of family needs to see a Dr we call and they tell me my regular Dr has no appointments available. If they do have an appointment its normally not for a few months. Well I cant wait a few months by then I will either be well or dead. So the recommend urgent care. I don't want to go to urgent care. Thats for when you cant wait till morning because your dying not for when your medical facility is so mismanaged they don't have time to see you.

Going to a Kaiser Permanente clinic or hospital re...

Going to a Kaiser Permanente clinic or hospital requires a parking lot if you drive. This lot has plenty of parking spaces available in this multi-story building. It's entrance is on North Edgemont Avenue with an automatic boom and parking ticket dispenser. Exit is on North Kenmore Avenue. There are 2 parking kiosks near the Edgement entrance. Make sure to pay here so it will be easier and faster when you you out. Although there is a staff who mans an office at the exit who can help when you encounter problems. I just don't know if there is somebody here at all times. There is also an elevator that will bring you to the second floor to the bridge to a structure east of Edgemont Avenue. I just wish that parking fees be lowered as we pay a lot for premiums, copays, etc.

Horrible service when encountering first nurse after leaving the waiting room. She had no compassion. Saw that I could barely walk and offered no wheel chair, etc. After that, I encountered another nurse and doctor that treated me. Sean and Dr. Seuss were kind and professional. Sean went above and beyond to comfort me. I won't be coming back here for any emergencies due to my initial service. I should have gotten the nurses name but was in so much pain I did not think to.

I ve been here for like 2 months with my only son that s 2 yrs. old & these nurses seem to not even care , honestly like u just see them in the nurse station chatting and u calling them & they not even paying any attention ! & and it s an emergency and all they do is sit there & be in there phones . & they don t even check up on there patience ! All they do is put there medication and leave like aren t u going to check up on the patience ?? . Would recommend another kaiser . & honestly I feel like I m his nurse moving him around from position, changing his diaper, & putting on his splints, changing his bedding sheets . I had high hopes for kaiser but this place isn t it . They could do better . Also one more thing, these machines would go on forever & even thoe u click the nurse button they won t come they take their sweet time !

LOVE IT

I hate hospitals in general but Kaiser is completely different from what I'm used to. They actually seem to care about patients well-being and bend over backwards to help. Even the cafeteria food is awesome.
