Lost our tankless water heater due to a faulty exchanger valve as a result of the freeze in February. Looking for options on replacing the tankless with a newer model. Technician was business like and presented us with options to consider. We have been and remain loyal to John Moore for our plumbing needs.
My tech did his best to fix a bad situation. He was truly courteous and understanding of my situation. I also wanna send a shout out to his supervisors and those that make the financial decisions for John Moore I say thank you for attempting to work with me on a very complicated situation on a home that I am attempting to sell. This technician would be called again in a moments notice if needed. I would hope that he is the one that leads the repairs on the home ,thank you for sending him to me. The serviceman was very professional and informative, regarding the process I needed to take to fix the problem.
I'm only giving 4 stars because the repair man was supposed to arrive between 8-10 a.m., but he didn't get to my house until almost 11:30. I work evenings, so it was important to me that they arrived on time. I ended up having to call in for unscheduled leave to cover me until I could get there late. Besides that issue, everything was great.

This was my first time calling John Moore. I found the service to be excellent and professional. I will not hesitate to call them again.
John Moore Services and technician Kiel Mire charged me $799.98 to fix my furnace. Kiel Mire, representing John Moore, came to my house, short circuited the hot surface ignitor on my furnace (which I took off because I determined it was broken after testing) and told me the pressure switch was broken. I found these parts on Amazon for $18 and $60 respectively, but John Moore services wanted to charge me $799.98. I called 4 other companies who quoted me anywhere from $250-$375 to replace these two parts. I have reason to believe that John Moore Services practices price discrimination based on gender and race. In the end, experts I consulted determined that the pressure switch was not broken, only the hot surface ignitor needed to be replaced.

First, I paid $99 for the Emergency Service call. When the Tech came in the first question he asked " So, how long do you plan on living here? What?! I was hoping I was wrong about what I was feeling at that moment. But I did pay $99 and we are heading into a heat wave!
The tech took a brief look around then came back and said come look outside, NOW really, what am I looking at, we both know I don't know.... He said I don't recommend "patching" this. I asked why, what's the problem? You know he didn't answer but started in on a New unit!!
I asked him again, what is the problem and what is the costs for the "patch work" and the new unit(s). He said ok I will be right back, he left to sit in, I am sure, air conditioned Van, to write out the quotes.
He came back with a quote APPROXIMATELY $1200 for "patch" work, that the tech said "I would NOT recommend that AT ALL" and then he stated "Now, you know that is just to start, don't know what else I might find"! What did he diagnose!?!?! He NEVER told me.
Then quoted 8K for partial unit and 12k for an entire unit. I was already light head from the heat, but really, I was not going to forget that I still didn't know that the issue was. I trusted my gut and said I will sleep on it. He said if you agree tonight, we will get you financed and pay for a hotel room! I WAS WILLING to go another hot night, to ensure that I was not going to get RIPPED OFF12k worth. Plus I am sure the "free hotel" would have been made up in the cost somewhere.....
I called another company to come over to check, and it was a fuse!!!! A service fee was all that I was charged!!! I called Joseph AC who fixed my problem and service was less than the $99 with John Moore's Emergency service. When I do need a new unit, because one day I will, John Moore will not see my 12K.
Now, what exactly was John Moore's Tech showing me outside when problem was a fuse in the unit inside. EXACTLY!!! This is what gives service people a bad name. John Moore should be ashamed to live up to the stereotype of being dishonest and a rip off!

Very friendly guy and knowledgeable about explaining the process to have my house repiped and explained price options. He was wearing a mask and that was great. What I appreciated the most was before entering my home I asked if he would but on gloves and shoe coverings. He was not bothered by request.

Absolutely the worst service I ve ever received from a company. Their agent quoted me a price of $530 and said he could get it done by the night but then couldn t and said he d come by tommorow and finish the job and charged me $250 security deposit for coming the next day. He said he d come by 1 pm and didn t even get a call from him till 2 saying he d be only able to make it at 5, that s right A WHOLE 5 HOURS LATE and then when I asked to adjust the pricing he rudely barked at me that he s losing money because he had to come twice. STAY AWAY FROM THEM , RUDE EMPLOYEES , HAS NO RESPECT FOR OTHERS TIME . Btw this was a fix that had to be done soon as possible as it had cut me off from running water.
Electrical problems. Felipe came out EARLY. Checked everything. Answered ALL my questions. Provided resolution will use serivce and request Felipe.
Needed an estimate on repair work for roof. Charge would be $199 just to obtain an estimate. Seems pretty routine to get multiple bids on jobs without charge. I was told that this ($199) would be deducted from final price.
That math doesn't work out. Overcharging, and then deducting $199 from an inflated bill would be a little too easy.
Guess they didn't want my business.
Won't be dealing with this company again. Found them on web. Lots of fake positive reviews.
Russell Herd did an awesome job repairing a sink and toilet at my Mom's house. Previous plumber from another company made several mistakes years ago when he installed the toilet all of which Russell managed to fix. We greatly appreciate all his work. Thank you very much!!

John Moore always gets it right! They stand behind their work and get the job done quickly. When you have an older home it needs repairs and code updates for you safety and comfort. John Moore gives you options and explains what repairs are needed in writing so you can make an informed decision. They show up on time, but most importantly I trust the work they do. If they see something that does not look right they bring it to your attention. We have been using John Moore for a long time and turn to them for all our home repairs. Yes we have used other contractors in the past and have wasted thousands of dollars and experienced nightmarish work with long delays. Everything from serious non-code electrical work to unlicensed plumbing repairs. John Moore has fixed the mess other contractors created. Contractors will say they are licensed plumbers or electricians but send a crew to you house that obviously is guessing at the electrical and plumbing work. Trust your instincts when this happens, don't waste your time and money, get it done right the first time around!
We had a complete home re-pipe. John Moore was not the most expensive but not the cheapest. Plumbers were great guys. They would run late and leave early with no notification but overall I would reccomend the plumbing part.
The guys that came in to fix the sheet rock were horrible. Would run late-leave early-no communication. Spoke with supervisor(Mark)on several occasions and he said it was my fault that we were being to difficult. I guess expecting people to show up on time in being difficult.
When sheet rock guys were finished they just packed up and started to leave. They said nothing or even clean up their mess. I had to stop in in his truck and ask him to come back in. He argued that they did not get the wall texture all over the floors,cabinets,baseboards,comforter,couch,shower curtain and many other places. At that point I asked them to leave.
Call them for plumbing but nothing else.

I really appreciated his patience and understanding when there was a need to explain services required & reason for said repairs. I would recommend John Moore Services. We appreciated the professionalism of it's associates. And we especially thank GOD for the help & patience shown to "us old folks" by Zayne in explaining the things necessary for solutions to our plumbing problems & why they would be needed. Estimated cost, however, are rather steep for seniors on fixed incomes.
John Adams installed my new wire after a burnt wire from my breaker box caused multiple damage. He was really knowledgeable and explained how electricity worked and why the damage occurred , this guy knows his stuff!!!!!
This is the first time that I used John Moore and they exceeded my expectations. My sewer pipe was blocked by a tree root that flooded my guest bathroom and the two adjoining bedrooms. This happened on Thanksgiving day. John Moore was there promptly after the emergency call. Vincent was polite and professional. I will never use anyone else for my plumbing needs!

Had called ARS first on Friday evening they said they would have someone out to my home between 8am-12pm Saturday. They called about 1:15 and said they could not come until Monday. I then called John Moore about 1:30pm and they got someone out between 4pm-8pm. Quan Nguyen came out about 5pm, but was unable to fix the ac because of a frozen line, he rescheduled for the next day which was Sunday. I received a call fro Jon Moore about 7:45am Sunday morning telling someone would be out to my home about 9am. I received a call from Pedro Castelo around 8:15am stating he was on his way to my home and arrived on time. Pedro was patient, informative, pleasant and professional. Pedro explained every process to be done and even though he was stuck working in a hot attic he was still very professional and pleasant. When he was done my home went from 83 degrees inside temp to cooling down in minutes.

So far not a great experience. Called on a Friday night to have an electrician come take a look at my breaker panel since I keep tripping breakers and literally can't keep the power on for more than 5 minutes at a time. They schedule me for a 12-4 time frame on Saturday afternoon and require me to pay a $69 "deposit" to make sure that someone will be here since its a Saturday call. Come Saturday morning I get a call from one of their CSR asking if I would be available should their technician find a way to get to me before my slotted time. I say yes and hang out at th house all day only to have 4 pm come and go without so much as a phone call from a technician. I call the CSR back and give them my work order number only to be informed the job was "auto dispatched to a technician that was off today". Really, are you kidding me!? Then how was that not picked up when I was called and asked if I was available for an early time slot. The CSR offered to re-schedule for Sunday morning and when I inquired about getting a refund for my "deposit" was told
It wasn't a deposit but a "weekend trip charge" and offered a $20 coupon towards service. What a joke.
Donte was our technician, he was very knowledgeable, polite and didn't pressure us into anything we didn't need. He did his job with the utmost professionalism and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is questioning their AC dependability! Thanks Donte!
Mr. Terry Ainsworth promptly arrived at the time he stated he would over the phone and immediately identified the issue with my outside air condition. He wasted no time in correcting the problem. I was impressed how he took the lead in a professional manner. He went above and beyond to check out my attic to see if there were any other issues upstairs. I know it was 90% inside my house and can only imagine how hot it is upstairs. This tells me that he was not afraid to do extra work if necessary in providing exceptional customer service. He should be commended for taking time to go above and beyond he could have just left and not checked upstairs. John Moore need more Terry Ainsworth working for your company.

I recently hired John Moore to take care of an electrical and AC problem I had in Galveston, TX. They sent out an electrician and an AC person. They charged me $800.00 to correct a wiring problem to a light. Then the AC person installed a regulator of some sort on the AC unit.When I go to my weekend Galveston home, everytime I would turn on the AC it now throws the breaker.John Moore sends out another AC specialist. He created a totally different list of problems. Then they send out an Electrician and he comes up with a different set of solutions that racks up a total of $6,100.00I had a couple of other people I had done business with take a look at everything, and the problem was solved with $800.00 worth of work, not $6,100.00 worth of work.John Moore sends out people that may be familiar with the field they are representing. BUT more than Electricians or AC specialists, they are SALES PEOPLE trying to rip you off and get as much money as they can from anyone they can.The people are rip off kings. My advice, NEVER call them. Never have them anywhere near you, unless you like throwing money away to theives.

John Moore is a contractor that trains their people to try to write as large of a quotation as they can and see what they can get away with. This is a SALES organization, not and AC/Electric company.I think it's very sad that we have companies like this in Houston and Galveston.

I got 5 estimates for plumbing and A/C work. In every case, the job was at least 10 times the retail cost of the replacement part on Amazon. Literally ALL of it except the duct cleaning can be done by the homeowner. (And will be.)
$3000 to replace a $300 thermostat (10 mins).
$800 to install a $400 UV light in the AC unit (30 mins).
$1500 to install a $200 water purifier device (20 mins).
$2500 to clean 25 AC ducts (2 hrs).
$700 to replace a $2 plastic plug-in plumbing fitting (5 mins).

Our tech "Art" was very professional, explained everything and really took the worry out of the cleanup and rebuild from the Texas freeze. I had a Nest 3rd Gen installed in my house and it was done quickly and very professionally. Not only did Tom install and rewire my system, he explained to me exactly what he was doing so I understood how everything would work after the fact. He also saw a few issues (true issues) in my attic and recommended some items that could make my attic more efficient as far as cooling of the attic space. Will definitely use Tom again if I have a choice of who to pick.

It is now 4/30/2020. I have heard NOTHING from John Moore re: the not to code issues found by the City Inspector associated with John Moore's work in my home on April 10th.
If I am the paying customer . . . am I also supposed to be the babysitter?

I have edited my review as of 4/23/2020.
Local inspector came in on 4/17/2020 to inspect John Moore's work. Several things were not to code. According to the inspector, very basic things, e.g,. electrical wires wrapped around one of our active gas supply lines in the attic; where thermostat enters the unit . . . it was not grommeted closed; missing grommets at the condensers; lack of unit support in our attic.
The inspector said he forwarded a copy of his inspection report to John Moore on Friday, 4/17/2020. It is now Thursday, 4/23/2020 and I have heard nothing from John Moore about fixing the issues. They were in a real hurry to install and collect $13,000, but now that the work they did needs to be fixed on their dollar . . . nothing.
My inspector also made a comment that John Moore is one of their "worse offenders" and they are very difficult to work with.
So . . . if you are in an area where John Moore isn't mandated to have its work checked by an inspector . . . how do you know it is correct? And safe?
I was very Impressed with Glen J. very professional and all members gave me a high quality Installation the electricians did a great job replacing my electrical service Allmekar and Marcos I believe was their names were very knowledgeable.

The tech, Gildardo Nieto, was exceptional, knowledgeable and paid attention to details. The results reflected this attitude . I would recommend John Moore Services without reservation. And I would also mention Gildardo Nieto for his attitude and excellent installation while keeping the virus recommendations was also important.
John Moore came out within an hour of calling them on a Saturday for a plumbing issue. We woke up to find our front yard flooded after our main water supply line busted. The plumber who came out was very courteous and professional. He did such a good job with the dig and filling it in that I could barley tell where he did it. My wife had to handle to the repair since I had to work that day. She understood everything he explained to her. She was at peace dealing with him. John Moore made a bad Saturday morning end on a high note.
Edit: We had to call John Moore out again; but this time it was for HVAC issue. Our boxer pup chewed through the thermostat control wires. John Moore came out the next day and fixed the problem. Again, same excellent service. When it rains it pours... thank goodness for John Moore's!
John Rowland is very responsive and is always very thorough in explaining what is needed or what we truly don t need. He changed out our thermostats and lowered our blower on our furnace and we are happy with his service.

I would not use this company they quoted my 95 year old grandmother $7000.00 to complete a service, then tried to go down to $5,000.00 after we complained. We ended up getting the same problem fixed for $600.00. This was a rip off. Shop local for better deals.
Great service by Jose Peregrino. He knows HVAC systems inside and out. Explained everything and outlined alternatives for preventative maintenance and repair. First-rate service.
I use John Moore services quite often - while I was the owner of Ashford Park they were always prompt, courteous and very reasonable. I would certainly recommend them because they always do first class work.
