This place is creeping with black mold . It's caked on in the baby unit severely!! Check under your window ledgesand ac ac units folks!! This place has been doing minor renovations; while it's an old hospital they are cutting too many corners. Poor poor management!

Great stay (at least as good as it can get being in the hospital). ALL the staff that assisted me were wonderful, especially my nurse Stacy. She was great. Nice, pleasant and professional. Everybody went out of their way to take good care of me. I was pleasantly surprised.
Thay get one star because i cannot put zero stars.Stayed her for 8 hours waiting to get my son transfer to florida hospital. This place has been a total nightmare.worst medical experience ever of my life in this hospital.Everyone is extremely cold and have no compassion for their jobs or the people in pain.
Holmes Regional Medical, Melbourne,Fl. On Tuesday May 2nd, I was admitted to the ER by my Doctor, ever since I arrived there, to the Holmes Regional Center, I could not be more grateful, because they took care of me from the first minute I got there. Once they proceed to perform the initial exams and thanks God was negative, they transferred me to the 5th Floor and the attention there was outstanding, I am really impressed how compassionate and affective the staff was, from the housekeeping folks to the Assistant nurses. The nurses, to all of them my infinite gratitude and my appreciation because thanks to them, my 2 days in the hospital was way less traumatic, you helped me to remain calm and feel cared. The name of the staff, and I am sorry if I leave someone behind, were: Brenda M, Martha A, Maria S and Olga H, special consideration to Ashley Davis, I believe she is one of the best Managers there, I always believe that leaders should always lead by example and that she was doing, excellent customer service, and she knows very well her job!, she went far beyond my expectations and I will always appreciate all the well care you provide me! Thanks again and keep up the good work!
My daughter was involved in a car wreck and brought to Holmes via ambulance. EVERYONE was unbelievably compassionate, professional, understanding and friendly. I am a nurse and radiologic technologist and can honestly say I have never experienced a nicer, cleaner, or more organized facility in all of my 25 years in the medical field. A special Thank You, Danielle, RN, on the 6th floor!
I was admitted on 3/2 for a stomach issue and not being able to keep my food down. It s been 3 days and I m still waiting to see a gastrointestinal specialist. Nurse and staff are great. Getting a specialist, not so much.
I received a bill this week for a shoulder orthosis (arm sling) I received while at CapeCanaveral hospital but serviced through Holmes Regional Enterprises. I did not ask for this, wasn t told how much it would cost, and did n t even need the item. I am writing you because this bill is for $127.00. I am looking for an explanation of how a cloth arm sling can cost $127.00. An item that i can buy from CVS or Walgreens for 10-20 dollars. 10x markup of normal retail price. This represents everything that is wrong with the medical industry. I think Holmes Regional Enterprises should be ashamed of themselves. I have to ask, when you go home at night, do you feel like you helped your community?
If pregnant, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT HOSPITAL. I miscarried. In the lobby while bleeding profusely. (The ED doc said he had never seen so much blood.) Then after they could spare a room, I bled profusely in the room and labored alone (with no staff as they were very, very busy) during which I was told I was going to be moved to the hallway to finish as they needed the room for a trama. This was due to the fact that they continually kept taking on traumas even though they were FULL to capacity. I can only assume for financial reasons they refused to reroute the traumas. IF YOU OR YOUR BABY IS AT RISK CHOOSE A DIFFERENT HOSPITAL. One where they have the staff and resources to help you as you deserve. In case you were wondering, we have insurance. United Health Care.
worst hospital ever, they didn't take anything I was saying seriously, I had a very bad reaction to cold medicine, they accused me of substance abuse!! I've never done any illegal drug, not even pot. I couldn't believe the rudeness of the nurses. they asked me what I expected they be able to do for me....im not the doctor!!! that's why I'm here, to get help! I never even saw a doctor, they hooked me up to an iv and fed me Ativan....which made things worse and then told me I had to leave.
Today I went to this hospital for the second time in the last 3 years to get a CT scan. The people that I ve encountered both times at Holmes, honestly they re the best and put all other hospital staff I ve been around to shame. They are kind, helpful and make you feel like you re important. I will recommend them to everyone. Thank you Holmes for your exceptional staff!!
I had surgery on my neck with Dr. Keller last week. I was nervous because of reviews I had read on here. I have to say all the nurses, doctors and all other staff down to the people who served the food were absolutely wonderful. I was well cared for and informed on everything they did. Everyone was fabulous, professional and courteous! !! Thank you!!!
May 13, 2007 I went into preterm labor. On May 14, I delivered a baby boy at 24 weeks. The dr who delivered my baby also had a birthday that day. I don't remember his name but he was terrific and I never got a chance to thank him. Also there was a nurse named Gigi who took such good care of me. She kept me updated & checked on me frequently and when my baby was transferred to Orlando she was there to support me. When the nicu called with info on my son she came and sat with me in case it wasn't good news. She went above and beyond! Gigi if by chance you read this I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart!! You have no idea how much your support meant to me. Today my son is a happy, healthy 9 yr old. He is in 4 grade and loves legos, minecraft, animals and playing soccer. He spent 100 day at fl children's hosp before coming home. He overcame all the nicu obstacles but I believe his survival was as a result of the impeccable care he received in his first 24hrs there. Thank you all and I hope that Gigi and dr (bday may14) see this!
I went into the emergency department. Every single employee I encountered was kind and it kind of blew my mind. The healthcare in Florida.is awful. If i could send flowers to all the people that helped me I would
I just spent two days in Holmes Regional and I was given first-class treatment by both the nurses and the doctors. I felt that they really cared about me as an individual. I saw that the doctors and the nurses were out numbered by the large quantity of patients and they didn't always get to me as fast as I would have liked, but when I thank about it...they were actually very punctual!! And I also found that they were to prepared to spend the necessary time with me and to answer all my questions and allay my fears. There isn't enough room here to express my admiration for all of the staff of Holmes Regional and I hold them in high esteem.... I pray God's blessings on all of them!!!
A zero rating would best describe. Do not ever think social services at this facility will help you or your family in any way. NO call backs from when requesting their assistance. The main goal is to bill and discharge. A very neglectful facility.
Great, friendly, attentive staff - but they seem to be at a disadvantage as much as me!! Went to ER for chest pain, ran a couple tests, then waited for a couple hours with NO information or nurse visits. Then an orderly arrives and says he s there to take me to my room. When I ask, My room? Am I being admitted? , we call the nurse. Nurse says all she knows is I m being admitted for 24 hours minimum, doctor should have been in to talk. Spent the next 24 hours hearing, nicotine patch is on the way and were having some food sent up.
Final result . . . Nicotine patch arrives 2 hours before I am discharged, food arrives 5 minutes before I leave, and I left the hospital STILL never seeing a doctor - even the original ER doctor!!! STILL don t know why I was admitted, what is or isn t wrong with me, or who can give me any information! I didn t even receive a ride in a wheelchair when I left - I just wandered the hospital until I found the exit and my vehicle. Worst hospital service ever.
I have a lung infection, have had it for 3 years at least. Holmes treats it just enough to make it appear to be stopping. When the drugs run out, the infection comes back worse. I gave up and live with it. But the thing killing me is my heart. They know but don't tell me, or treat it. I went to the er a few weeks ago unable to breathe and my heart was struggling, as I have congestive heart failure. This nurse practitioner came in and began to scream that I was using the er as a pcp (not true) and that she wasn't my pcp and she left. it went down hill from there. I was accused, blamed, called a liar, and at that point i just wanted to get out of there . i signed out ama and then a bunch of them started telling me i needed to stay. why? for more abuse? they lie, they are abusive, and there was no way i could trust them by the time they had called me faker and abused me. no way i will ever go there again.
I was discharged with the same symptoms I was admitted with through the ED. Upon discharge, these were not well controlled (ataxic and dissociated). Further, The entire time I was on the floor I repeatedly requested to be seen by Infectious Disease (as suggested by many other providers). I was never seen by one of the ID doctors during my entire stay. Some of the staff were terrific. Key of the outstanding and proactive personnel was the nursing staff and Dr. Riascos-Mazo MD. Most of the others were not. Further, I was discharged shortly after requesting to be seen by a patient advocate on how my case was being handled, which is incredibly suspicious. I am still sick, and was provided little if any progressive care by this hospital.
I am a former flight medic and OIF/OEF veteran, so am well established as to how medicine should be - patient centered and proactive. This is and was lacking at this hospital almost entirely.
So if you have a sprained ankle or slightly elevated blood pressure, sure - maybe go there. They will throw some palliative meds at you. If you need real patient care and diagnoses, go somewhere else. They seem incapable of doing so.
Their Emergency Department was outstanding. However, beyond that due to the lack of attention to detail and care, I would avoid admittance because it could prove fatal (depending on your condition).
Best Hospital, my father was hospitalised for brain issue and heart attack. Treatment given was excellent and also we were tourist from india.we are very thankful and oblige to this hospital and govt of usa.
Run.... run as far away from this place as you possibly can. If you value your health after birthing your child, run. Same goes for Hibiscus Womens Center, LLC. They have zero idea how to actually check up on and make sure that new mothers are ok, as well as misdiagnoses and bad information. DOLLAR SIGNS IS ALL YOU ARE. I rather drive to (and have) Orlando and go to the hospitals there after the visits here. My next child absolutely will NOT be birthed at Holmes Regional or any hospital in the Brevard area. I'll go where I know I will actually be taken care of and made sure that I'm ok before being released.
I give them a five I was here from last Thursday and went home today I had a bad kideney infection and the doctors and nurses I had on the seventh floor a wing were amazing and also the ER doc who I saw that Thursday before I got admitted Dr Ford he was great I will only go to this hospital ty
My experience here was very pleasant. I had my baby a couple of months back and almost everyone was very delightful from the nurses to the anesthesiologist and my delivery doctor were all amazing all with the exception of the initial triage nurse. But my stay over all was exceptional and everyone was very friendly. I was a bit sketchy at first because of all the bad reviews but this place is really outstanding and the nursery staff was also very helpful. All in all I had a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hopspital to any expectant mom. Dr.Foster is the best!!
I was brought in for chest pains via ambulance and immediately received care. Every step of the ordeal was explained to me to keep me calm and informed. every staff member was genuinely friendly and constantly asked if I had any needs. Not a sour face to be found. I feel I recieved a very high level of care and follow up advice. Thank you all.
My Mom was admitted a few days ago in the heart center and everyone has been very attentive and kind to her. I am very grateful for this, especially at a time like this with everything that s going on. I would like to give a special thanks to the Dr. Patel and Nurse Asim! Dr. Patel has gone out of his way to cover every angle of my mother s health. And Nurse Asim has done a truly Awesome job at keeping me informed every step of the way and for that I m forever grateful! Big thanks to the whole team...
I was brought to the ER by my R.N. daughter on Friday morning. I had tripped at home a few days prior and was not getting any better. Needed to make sure no serious damage had been done. Was never asked if I was safe at home or how the 'accident' took place. Was belittled when I tried to explain to the Physician that the medicine he was going to prescribe would need to be worded differently, as I am on a Pain Management program. He ignored me and as a result I was not able to fill the prescription, just as I told him. I did not want more, I needed something I could take during the night to try and rest. I just asked if he could make it for 'once at bedtime' instead of as needed. The nurse I questioned as I was leaving blatantly lied and told me that they were only allowed to write certain prescriptions in a certain way at the emergency department. I was treated as if there was an ulterior motive for my being there. Not once did anyone ask what prescriptions I was currently on. If they had, I would have opened my purse and showed them, alleviating the apparent diagnosis of drug seeking. So I left the E.R. with a diagnosis of Pelvic Fracture and nothing but the medications I was already on for my pre-surgical hip issues. Worst experience, EVER. Now I will be seeking another Orthopedic Surgeon as mine is affiliated with Holmes Regional. I would not bring a wounded squirrel to see those quacks. I understand the guidelines have tightened, but that would not be an issue if you folks had been providing correct care in the first place, it would not seem as such a drastic change if the norm was being done from the get-go.
Came into Holmes ER with my 2-year-old daughter after she broke her arm. The doctor came in and told me they couldn't treat her and that we needed to go to Nemours. I received a bill a month later for $1635.15, including $150 for "supplies." Um... What supplies? They didn't do anything for her except tell us to leave!
I went to sit with the friend why she was having surgery, the place was huge, I don't walk well so it took forever to find my way out but all in all I accomplished what I went for, surgery was a success for my friend. Thank you God
We had our first baby delivered here. The nurses and staff were really over-and-above personality-wise. Birthing facilities are state-of-the-art. Everybody we dealt with was fully qualified and knowledgeable. But it's quite clear they need more people here. It sure seemed as though people were eager to help but would often be diverted or distracted by some other priority. Really wish we could review this place better. The organization needs to get its act together!
I would not say that we had a great time because it is never a fun experience to go to the hospital for an emergency. However the whole staff was very caring and professional so it made this experience smoother.
I can't speak for the entire hospital, but if you or a loved one end up on the 4th floor of A wing, you will receive the best of care! The staff are attentive, kind, patient, and professional.
I had to stay overnight recently and the staff was awesome. When the Stewart came to take my food order late at night, they had so many options. They even threw in an extra pudding cup for me which I was like "Hell yeah!" The bill was horrendous (of course) but the service was beyond my expectations. I'm not afraid of hospitals anymore.
If i could give a zero i would ben in the er for 7 1/2 hrs now and they told us they were admiting my wife around 10:45 it is now now 1:15 and they havent brought my wife her blood pressure meds or the tylenol she asked for over 6 hrs ago this place has deffinatly gone down hill. Oh and she pushed the nurse call button 10 min ago and nobody has come to the room yet glad theres nothing to serious going on what a joke
Find somewhere else. The Staff here are: - abusive - rude - condescending - judgemental - disrespectful - ignorant and naive - liars
Had a staff member introduce herself as a Radiologist that went to UCF when in fact she was an X-ray Technologist (don't call her an x-ray technician, she'll get angry) that went to Keiser NEAR UCF. She also talks down to colleagues because they don't have the certifications she has and shares stories of what she refers to as "nightmare patients"... being a patient of hers must be a nightmare. Behavior like this is unacceptable in an environment designed to help people.
My nurses Iris and Dawn as well as my CNA's Catherine and Andrea (Andi) were amazing. Following my surgery I was in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable. Iris and Catherine were on the day team and worked well together to calm my nerves and ease my pain. Dawn and Andrea (Andi) took the night shift and went out of there way to answer all my questions and allay all my fears after my surgery on 12/28/2012. Kudos to the front line support and the managers who hired these four (4) amazing professionals. Well done.
Went to er with 3.5 year old son. He had a high fever of 104.7 before taking him in. Once there they did not 1 test or blood work. Treated him for strep because his throat was red. Turns out he is strep negative and flu positive. Had they done a flu.test on him sat night, he wouldve started treatment. Now hes been miserable for 2 days.
Eventually over three days I came in because my hip feels like it was broken or sprained they don't know but they found infection in my blood giving me minimal to nothing for pain take one Percocet every 6 hours what Tylenol every 4 hours every 4 hours I'm sitting in my room all night long no one cares, crying no stop no one to come in and say anything's I'm throwing things around my room cuz I'm so frustrated I don't understand this is the sixth floor this is my opinion of how this place runs usually any other time I had to good experience here
was taken there for L. Femur repair by Orthopedic Surgeon Desai Oct 20?2007! from Sebastian River Medical! Ortho Owner on call! no show! Traction&Pain meds 3/4 hrs MC gave up had me transported! HR could see Indian river Melbourne from room! Transported to Indian River Nursing Rehab Therapy 4 months - Son Ed bus KW 12 hr to Sebastian - Ray to Hosp! Ed took my neckless before surgery!
My dad had a major heart attack back in January and they were awesome to him the whole time he was at Holmes with treatment , heart surgery and making sure he had everything he needed health wise . I have nothing but respect for all the paramedics and doctors and nurses that basically saved his life that night.
I wouldn't put my worst enemy in Holmes Hospital. My relative was hospitalized on the A Unit several years ago and was utterly ignored by nursing staff for up to 9 hours at a time (we know this because we were in the room with him and no nurse or CNA came in for 9 hours). He promptly caught two hospital-acquired infections, turning what should have been a short stay into an ordeal lasting several weeks. More recently, he had the misfortune of staying on the D wing of the cardiac unit where he again was completely neglected by the nursing staff. In fact, one day we came in and found him delirious, naked, wet, dehydrated and hungry (because he couldn't eat or drink by himself and staff had just dumped the food tray on the table and left). Just moments before, we had been assured by the nurse that she had checked on him and he was doing well. We were horrified when we discovered his condition. I will say that the nursing staff in the cardiac ICU is stellar, but he wouldn't have wound up in the ICU had he been cared for properly on the regular units.
Can t even begin to explain how unhappy I am with Holmes Regional in Melbourne Florida. My father was brought in via ambulance a few weeks ago due to severe abdominal and bowel issues. Was only treated for an infection and then released without listening to his continued complaints of pain. Sent home after a bowel movement. At home he became very ill and was admitted to Viera Hospital. Emergency surgery was done on his colon where they found a large mass that was causing an obstruction and found cancer. This could have all been taken care of the FIRST time he was admitted if Holmes has just researched further. However, God works in mysterious ways because I could not have asked for a more AMAZING hospital in Viera where they truly care about their patients. The staff at Viera represent a positive and healing experience for their patients and most importantly my Dad is on the right path to recovery now and NOT in pain like he was at Holmes. It s truly sad that a hospital that had such an AMAZING reputation so many years ago has fallen to such a disturbing level.
I took my mom to the emergency department yesterday, from the moment we walked in out experience was too notch. Beginning with the man who greeted us, triage, nurses, techs and doctors. Crystal, was an absolute joy as were the others who took care of my mom. Sorry, I don't recall their names, but we arrived @ 2:10 pm and she was admitted after 7pm. Hopefully, those who working will be praised by whom who reads this. Thank you for helping and taking care of my Mom.
I was release from the hospital on August 5 2017 . The case management told me everything was set for my pic line antibiotics to be delivered as I would need to be on it for the next six weeks. I get home and the nursing company taking care of me asked if I recieved a delivery or knew anything about it as he saw nothing and had not gotten the orders that it was sent. I've since missed two dosages and have not had it flushed . They sent me home knowing there was an issue. This is my life.I a a human being.. I'm ready to call the news. How many other people are they doing this do and are putting people's lives in danger. Teresa miller
This company continues to amaze me on the quality of their work, prices, creative design and speed in which they complete the projects. Perfectly awesome.
My wife came in the emergency room with extreme kidney pain. The staff did an amazing job to hurry up the process, keeping informed with what is going to happen and possible outcomes. They were very accommodating. Great experience, definitely going to continue to go there with all medical needs.
I have had many horrible experiences here they have no respect for the person they're treating especially if you don't have insurance, then you are just looked at as an empty bed. What a shame
Hospital. It's a Hospital. People are admitted to a hospital because they are sick and need to recover. They don't go into a hospital to get sicker. A beloved relative was admitted with aspiration pneumonia who gets well enough over a couple of days to be discharged isn't supposed to then get hospital acquired MRSA pneumonia, isn't supposed to get much much sicker, weaker, and think " I AM DYING ". Should not require a new team of several doctors, an additional almost two weeks on iv antibiotics, lose ability to ambulate, lose all hope ... A person who has gotten MRSA pneumonia in the hospital should not have to then get a roommate who also has MRSA pneumonia, who yells out all night long, who impedes her/his recovery. While most of the professionals caring for patients are very good at what they do, the fact that a preventable infection can cause a patient to become much sicker and have to remain inpatient much longer than original diagnosis warrants, is not only unacceptable , it is Inexcusable. Notably the nurses and doctors are genuinely concerned and dedicated. Sadly, experiences and observation revealed many CNAs do not follow protocol, are lazy, slow, disrespectful, uncaring and probably not suited for employment in hospital setting.
Many issues. No baseline of comparison. How does Holmes stack up with other hospitals? Who knows? Given a choice, maybe somewhere else is a better option...
Would give this place 0 stars if possible. My wife went to the ER with complaints of chest pains. She is still in the hospital 4 days after the fact. She has been given 3 tests over the course of 4 days. She has been given 0 answers or advice. Only one doctor is apparently capable of reading her test, and who knows when they will get around to it. It seems every doctor that comes in has a different idea of what s going on but nothing ever gets done. They have given her medicine and tests that literally have her in tears. No answers. They are essentially holding her hostage in the hospital and will not discharge her. The medicine she requested for a migraine took over 2 hours to get to her. Anyone with a migraine knows how agonizing those two hours were. She wasn t even fed for the first 24 hours and when they did feed her they brought just a plate of cold green beans and mashed potatoes. That s it. This place is an abomination to health care. If you have any other option go there, do not go to this place. The staff is nice but everyone is full of excuses. This place needs someone in charge and a capable leadership group which it is clearly lacking. There is a serious breakdown and lack of communication at this place and that is not good when you are dealing with human beings and their healthcare.
This place is a joke! I went to the ER and received a $6000 bill from them. The emergency room alone was $2749. My statement has comments stating reasonable cost. Not sure what that mean cause this bill is not reasonable. Be ready to spend some big bucks if you visit this hospital.
While we loved our experience here, we do not love what brought us here. That being said, the staff, the nurses, the security, the cnas, all were amazing and supportive of us. Their care and concern, their gentle touch, and eye for details help us find our way through some unexpected events. Thank you all!
This has become the most disasterously, mismanaged medical facility I have ever been to. My father had open heart surgery here in 2016 and the place is so underfunded in all areas that he caught pseudomonas infection in the CICU. 4 months later after fighting the infection, he had to have a revision to the same open heart surgery and caught pseudomonas again. This time it infected the one and he lost his sternum and multiple ribs. Now my 19 year old son was transferred here from Palm Bay Hospital and is in SICU. He fell and it caused a concussion. He then had a seizure a short time later. He has been treated for meningitis. He is intubated and maxed out on fentanyl and propofol but awoke wide awake last night and obviously able to breathe on his own. They can t sedate any more and refuse to get a dr there to allow for extubation. This place has the medical protocol of a ghetto trap house. Somebody like Advent Health please buy HRMC and provide a top quality medical Center that Melbourne deserves.
Short version: If I had lost both my legs in an accident I would risk trying to drive to another hospital rather than be treated here.
Here's the reason for 2 stars. The birth suites are amazing, our third son was born here and the whole experience was fantastic. There's a reason the birth suites has a separate entrance, because the rest of the hospital is a total nightmare.
Other than a birth we've been here on two separate occasions.
Visit #1: We had to bring our newborn back for jaundice tests. Now keep in mind, we have two week old baby in a waiting room full of sick people, you'd think we'd be some sort of priority. Nope. Not only were we not a priority, they had accidentally lost our check in. So, we've been sitting there for almost three hours, seen the entire waiting room cycle almost twice, before I finally say something to them about it and there's no record of checking us in. Okay, mistakes happen, I'm aggravated but I like to think I'm a reasonable man. One would assume after an incident like this that we would be put on the top of the list. Nope again. We now had to wait for everyone else that had arrived after us because they either lost us or never checked us in. So when we finally go back, they have to take blood from our son. Remember, he's two weeks old, he doesn't have a lot of blood to begin with. After taking the last drop, the phlebotomist drops the vial before getting the lid on and has to start from scratch taking more blood.
Visit #2 We brought our son in (different son, 2 years old) after he hit his head on the playground and had some swelling on his face the next day. Initially they told us he had a bug bite that was causing the swelling. Nope, yet again. We end up leaving and taking him to our pediatrician who tells us there's no bug bite but just to keep an eye on him. Later that day he starts vomiting so we decide to take him to the hospital...again. However, we wanted to avoid this hospital at all costs so we took him to a different one about 25 minutes away. They were awesome, ordered MRI to make sure he was okay and put him on antibiotics because it looked like he also had a sinus infection. However, they didn't have a pediatric wing, so just like a recurring nightmare we found ourselves back at Holmes Melbourne. They kept him overnight to do the tests and monitor his condition. The next day most of the nurses were actually UCF students, but they and the day nurses were great, no complaints. Once the shift change happened and the night nurses came in, any semblance of service or bedside manner went straight to hell. A few suggestions for the night nurses: 1. You should knock on doors before you open them, not after. 2. If a parent tells you there's one thing you could do that would wake up their sleeping two year old, DON'T do that one thing. 3. If you're going to sit around with the other nurses complaining and talking bad about patients, make sure you're out of earshot of the patients.
If you've made it through this entire thing I apologize about the length, but I promise reading the whole thing was not nearly as bad as having lived it.
If I can offer you any advice, avoid this hospital at all costs, unless you're giving birth, then it's awesome.
If I was shot outside of their ER doors I would go in, but only to ask for an ambulance to take me to another hospital.
Horrible hospital. They treat you like a number and you will receive bills with hidden fees for months!!! I really don't know how they get away with it.
Beware of their fraudulent billing practices. I have attached photos of my hospital bill to show you how they added in a false charge for $2,473.33 for "Emergency Room" or "OB ED level V" service that I did NOT receive. I never passed through the OB ED department and I never sat on a gurney in the OB area. I was never seen by their OB ED doctor. When I called to complain I was told that when the triage nurse checked my dilation upon arrival and found that I was fully dilated that that brief assessment by a nurse qualified as ED service! As soon as I arrived I was rushed into a delivery room. The bed was unfolded and the baby was on his way. The on-call OB doc rushed in the room right before the baby was delivered. I gave birth vaginally and without complications in less than 15 minutes after arrival the hospital. Their creative billing team finds ways to sneak in extra charges like $1,306.14 dollars for sitting in the recovery room--the same room delivered in--until the closet sized room near the newborn nursery became available. Choose a different hospital & different health care group.
Health First is really MONEY FIRST!
They never solve a case they told me that a supervisor would call me but he never called me, for that his answer is not very important, only the money first.
My very skilled, very competent doctor/surgeon unfortunately admits to this hospital. I arrived at 5:30 AM for an outpatient procedure at 7:30 AM. I made it through admissions and was taken upstairs to be told computers were down and everything was being done with paper. As I am waiting, a doctor is loudly telling other doctors about his wife calling him regarding his son's shoes and how he asked why she wanted to stress him out as he is just about to cut his patient open. I asked the nurse attending me if she was hearing that too, because it is not making us waiting for surgery feel very comfortable. She says she has and goes to ask lead nurse what to do. The doctor moved his conversation out of the ward. I made it into the surgical room, and overheared my doctor tell staff he was only given one light he requested. I wake up in post-op at 8:30AM and speak to the doctor. Everything fine, waiting on blood work to clear me to go home. 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 computers still down so no labs NOTHING to do but listen to children and adults moan, scream, and vomit as they wake up from surgery, because husband has bag in waiting room. Finally offered something to drink and complain. Head nurse asks what is wrong. I complain and am moved to another area. One nurse was told to help me get dressed and gets bag from husband. The other nurse was sent down to the lab for lab work which she should have done two hours previous since computers were still down and hospital has no runners for paperwork. Nurse that was asked to help me get dressed starts cleaning ward, and then forgets. I reach over and get bag as three male hospital staff shield their eyes walking by because nurse working across from my bed on paperwork won't close the curtains despite my protest. Nurse comes back with labs. Nurse who wouldn't close the curtain curtly fills out discharge. Head nurse tells me what not to do after surgery. Assistant who was asked to dress me refuses to get wheel chair, then does so at head nurses request. My husband starts to push me out and the assistant is told to push me. She reaches the exit doors and leans over next to my ear. She pops a bubble from the gum she was chewing loudly all the way down the elevator and lifts the back of the chair to make me stand and pushes the chair into the back of my legs. Then she turns the chair and flips her hair at me as I looked back. This hospital has some SERIOUS issues. Beware if your doctor admits there!
Please open the page so you can see the abuse my mom endured even if you don't read what I wrote. I took pictures from the previous mom and then a month at this horror hospital put my mom through!!your staff literally almost killed my mom. Her regular private physician said he had never witness such abuse and God else happen to her! The attorney's I was hiring with the photographs we took when you dropped her off said the severity would have to go to criminal court which sadly I didn't have $3,500.00 for the 1st sit down with 2 of the lawyers. I managed to get a hold of some of her old political aquainteses from back in the day and the ones I spoke to were also horrified! Even 2 politicians that I spoke to expressed concern and anger. They oth told me that they commanded me for caring for my mom (which I love with all my heart) that they would never trust the state of Florida, especially Brevard County to care for any member of their family. They have entered a lot of facilities and witnesses their own 2 eyes how they drug them and then proceed to abuse them! They let them soak in urine and fecus and it's not that they are not able to use the potty it's the over dosing in medicine they pump them up with then my mom as the other eldery patients are not able to function with their everyday faculties. Then they falsify the medical diagnosis and claim that our family member has dementia. All this so they can EXTORT their social security. I f you dare to voice your opinion they call DCF and use them to defend all the fraud they are committing. Once you have DCF at your door better have certain politicians as friends like we lucky do other wise you are going to e threaten, harassed, something as if you landed at a 3rd world country without a passport and can't find the US Embassy!!!I've traveled all over the world...I know hat I'm talking about.
Apart from a few outstanding staff members (nurses and techs) my two day stay at Holmes last week was generally an agonizing experience. Right now there is a significant shortage of personnel in the Lab Dept. and the Pharmacy. And I really did suffer because of it. I understand that this is the busiest time of year due to the incoming snowbirds and the bad flu season, but please get on the stick and hire some more qualified personnel.
