Once again the VA and federal government demonstrate what epic dumb asses they are. I received a letter on Saturday stating they think I'm incarcerated going back on 4 years for a felony and that I owe them back service connection pay.
I went down to the regional office on the 2nd floor and the liason offices on the 5 floor. All exceedingly worthless. They all gave me the run around. VA employees are lazy and function at the capacity of McDonald's employees.
They don't understand their own rules or policies or how they work. I kept explaining I'm not incarcerated and that I wasn't convicted of a felony. All they kept asking was if I was locked up for more than 60 days. As if being in jail for more than 60 days automatically constitutes that VA pay be taken away.
According to the law you have to be incarcerated for more than 60 days and be serving a sentence for a felony conviction to lose you're benefits. Its contingent on the felony conviction and sentencing.
I got home Monday afternoon and received more notices from the VA and Social Security. I received a letter from Department of Treasury stating the VA escalated the dispute to being a debt, but according to the letter I received on Saturday I still have 30 days to request a hearing and contest them.
Their threatening to start with holding Social Security benefits and then Social Security is saying they didn't get my forms that I sent out earlier this month and that their planning on cutting me off as early as next week.
Now I have to waste time going downtown to pick up my court documents to make the VA look like fools and show that I don't owe them anything. And then re deliver my forms to Social Security by hands.
These people who run this bureaucracy are morons.

Good people but kinda scary place. Had to take children down here but not a good idea. They had zero comprehension of the grieving pain they saw. There were patients on gurneys transported through the hallways and left with no one to help them. I felt alarmed and saddened for them. I m not sure if this is just lack of employee support or what exactly. I do believe things could be better, and some employees really try. It s a process though.

"Arthur" was very professional, patient and kind. Didn't seem phased at all that I didn't know how to request VA documentation at all. He assured me that I would receive the data in ten working days. All taken care of by phone, in 6+ minutes.
EXCELLENT!

I have been trying to get services processed thru this center since May. Its been over 3 months. It is impossible to leave a voicemail and the call line just rings to a machine that hangs up. I filed an OIG complaint and it went nowhere.

This is either corruption or incompetency. Restructuring is NEEDED.

I filed for voc rehab on 3/27/2019 and I've been calling the VA over and over again since to check the status. One employee said it can take 6 months or more. Two employees have told me that my application is not even in the system. One employee gave me a confirmation number and then when I called back again, another employee told me that they don't have confirmation numbers. Now I'm being told that I may have to re-apply but the employee is waiting for me to speak to his boss, however, his boss is in a mysterious ever-lasting meeting. I'm betting that I won't hear back from his boss today. For some reason, the meeting will last until the end of business. With all of the conflicting information I've been given, I have definitely been lied to by some or all of the employees at the VA I've talked to who I'm meant to rely on.

As a veteran myself, who has sacrificed my life, my sons health and my mental state of mind.. i see no one here at the Veterans affairs who has done anything for anyone but themselves. I see a bunch of non-military individuals who have never known how to be humble to their surroundings and see veterans as poor, dumb, dirty and unstable. I have been fighting for help from the VA since i left the service, i have served in 2 heavy conflicts, and have seen my fair share of unspeakable images that will haunt you a lifetime... and now even as i write this and think of all my other brothers in arms who have suffered with me and are still suffering due to the lack of help or treatment from the VA i don't understand how they have a job there... wish they would have been in my shoes in order for them to understand and help me realize they are not all bad, but most of them there are heartless and clueless to what we have endured through our time in the service.

I currently work for the VA and we strive to provide the best services possible for all our veterans. We work countless hours trying to gather information and request information in order to provide a fast turn around on a claim. What we wont do is hinder accuracy just to process a claim. We pride ourselves in getting the most current information, and accurate information for a positive outcome. We have struggles just like any work force but we try our best to put measures in place so that we can give the best possible outcome.
