Meredith Reeves Review of Holmes Regional Medical Center

I was brought to the ER by my R.N. daughter on Friday morning. I had tripped at home a few days prior and was not getting any better. Needed to make sure no serious damage had been done. Was never asked if I was safe at home or how the 'accident' took place. Was belittled when I tried to explain to the Physician that the medicine he was going to prescribe would need to be worded differently, as I am on a Pain Management program. He ignored me and as a result I was not able to fill the prescription, just as I told him. I did not want more, I needed something I could take during the night to try and rest. I just asked if he could make it for 'once at bedtime' instead of as needed. The nurse I questioned as I was leaving blatantly lied and told me that they were only allowed to write certain prescriptions in a certain way at the emergency department. I was treated as if there was an ulterior motive for my being there. Not once did anyone ask what prescriptions I was currently on. If they had, I would have opened my purse and showed them, alleviating the apparent diagnosis of drug seeking. So I left the E.R. with a diagnosis of Pelvic Fracture and nothing but the medications I was already on for my pre-surgical hip issues. Worst experience, EVER. Now I will be seeking another Orthopedic Surgeon as mine is affiliated with Holmes Regional. I would not bring a wounded squirrel to see those quacks. I understand the guidelines have tightened, but that would not be an issue if you folks had been providing correct care in the first place, it would not seem as such a drastic change if the norm was being done from the get-go.
