I wouldn't put my worst enemy in Holmes Hospital. My relative was hospitalized on the A Unit several years ago and was utterly ignored by nursing staff for up to 9 hours at a time (we know this because we were in the room with him and no nurse or CNA came in for 9 hours). He promptly caught two hospital-acquired infections, turning what should have been a short stay into an ordeal lasting several weeks. More recently, he had the misfortune of staying on the D wing of the cardiac unit where he again was completely neglected by the nursing staff. In fact, one day we came in and found him delirious, naked, wet, dehydrated and hungry (because he couldn't eat or drink by himself and staff had just dumped the food tray on the table and left). Just moments before, we had been assured by the nurse that she had checked on him and he was doing well. We were horrified when we discovered his condition. I will say that the nursing staff in the cardiac ICU is stellar, but he wouldn't have wound up in the ICU had he been cared for properly on the regular units.
