Arrived at emergency with only 5 people waiting in...

Arrived at emergency with only 5 people waiting in front of us. My Husband was in severe pain from his back and hip. He could barely walk or even sit without severe pain. Computer was down so they had to take info by hand. Took him into Triage and took temp and BP and asked questions about any illnesses (Mersa ect) he may have had. Not applicable to us. Asked him if he fell or what happened we explained he had been hurting all week with low back and hip pain but was taking Ibuprofen to keep it at bay and were hoping it would go away. Then at about 1:30 Am he woke from sleep with severe pain and attempted to get up and stood with great difficulty. He went down our steps and to the living room and tried to get into a position that would relieve the pain and he could not. Not normal type pain severe pass out pain. I got my shoes on and led him to the care and that is how we got there. By the way not once did they ask how severe the pain was by asking him for example from 1 being the lowest pain and 10 being the worst pain you can imagine. So they told us to wait in the waiting room and we would be called. My husband was crying out in pain in front of the people there and trying to keep it to himself. Changing the angle he sat at.... whatever to wait for them to call. After two and a half hours I noticed that not one of the 5 people there before us had been called in, and I had also not seen anyone be discharged from the other side. It was very strange. We asked how much longer it was going to be because he was hurting. They explained that there were patients in the exam rooms waiting to be moved to hospital rooms and as soon as they were moved they would have room to get us in but oh by the way we needed to realize that there were others here before us that would need to go first. By the way 3 of the six waiting had already given up and left the ER. So when they told us this there were two others and us still sitting and waiting for help. My husband can be a little cranky even when he is feeling good, but at three and a half hours he was very upset and hurting still. He rolled over to the desk pulled off his ID bracelet and threw it at the lady there and said we are leaving I cannot stand this anymore. I had to put my opinion in and I told them this is the third time we have had a major issue with how this Hospital runs it ER and I do not intend to keep quiet about it anymore. And I do not!!! Think about it... there are probably 30 to 40 exam rooms in the ER If several people were waiting to be sent to rooms doesn't that mean the Dr has already signed off on them? Were all the exam rooms being used? They did not have one room where my husband could have been sent so he could lie down? Are they not allowed to give him some ibuprofen to help with his pain? I am extremely angry and in the process of writing an article for my local paper about this. Oh and one more thing. In the waiting area on the outside area near the Exam room doors. Someone had spilled pop or something sticky, there was no where to sit as my husband was in a wheelchair and it was the only open spot. It was a rather large spot and my shoes kept sticking all over the place. It was already dry and sticky when we got there. Do they have no one to clean up at this hospital? It was disgusting. I hope others have better luck than us, but it really should have nothing to do with Luck, now should it?

I mean if you're looking for a place to die, I guess it's a 5 star location. If you're looking for treatment to save your live, it's a one star place and you'll be better off visiting a veterinarian hospital.

The ER saved my life so this is not a review on them.

I was severely misdiagnosed at this hospital which caused me unnecessary worry, unnecessary testing, chemo that no other doctors would have used at that point on me, and emergency surgery. False information given to insurance company to get tests approved for more money, holding back information preventing correct treatment. Plus patient advocate stands up for the doctor s stupidity. No need to add a message to call you pretending you care.

I had much better treatment at Hurley for the same condition and surprisingly I was not misdiagnosed and lied to. Oh and they didn t run unnecessary testing, nor wait a month to treat me(genesys incorrectly treated me which caused me to almost die). I was not given chemo as I did not have cancer and they did not assume it was like Genesys did. Plus they were up front about all their findings.

I only gave this place 1 star because I couldn't give it zero! The crisis interventionist was not only unwilling to answer questions, but she was rude, swearing at me, and added to the situation (rather than diffusing it) with the patient I brought to this facility. As the patient advocate -and the person the patient ASKED to help navigate the insurance options and plan of treatment - I was simply trying to ask questions to educate myself and the patient. This was apparently not acceptable as I was rudely kicked out of the room. Kari has zero bedside manner or professionalism. I fully and completely understand why this hospital has a two star rating. Take your loved ones elsewhere!!!!!

Had to take wife to the er for nausea and diarrhea my wife has port to access because veins were blown request iv team after 4 attempts by nurses who had little to no experience with ports after hour and a half iv team came access port got it on 1st attempt nurses were to proud to admit they could not access it was told by rude er doctor that test results showed it was severe dehydration and high pottasium my wife has had a kidney and liver transplant doc gave her a bag and half of iv solution then said she was fine and released her after 9hrs in same condition and symptoms she went to er with we asked doctor to contact her transplant team for approval to be released and he did not honor our request just became more rude and arrogant . We didn't go to hospital for attitude we went for help. Er staff needs extreme training with KIDNEY/LIVER PATIENTS . ALSO NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR IGNORANCE AND ATTITUDE....

First off, if you're going here without health coverage, that's on you. Don't complain about the pricing because you'd be surprised what you would pay at larger establishments or for specialists.

Second, the hospital operates by priority and the seriousness of a patient's condition. They don't have an unlimited number of staffed employees, nurses or doctors. If you're waiting to be seen, patience is a virtue.

Third, the billing arrangements can be paid over their automatic system via webpage. If missed payments or returned funds occurs, there are processing fees. This is standard at any business establishment.

There is one star less for the review due to their technology systems. They have updated the name and a few staffing implementations but there are key elements that requires more emphasis to be a 5/5 hospital. It'll be interesting how the establishment expands and continues to strive for excellence in the near future.

My son went into the er at 11:30 am with numbness in his fingers. We got into an er room were he gave blood then on to a curtain room were we sat and sat they came in asked the same questions and took more blood. We sat for 2 hrs before a real Doctor showed up she asked all the same questions listened to his heart and lungs and left. We sat they ordered an eco cardio test. We sat.. More bloodwork.. We sat till 6pm when they found him a bed. Never took his urine sample off the table. Once upstairs he sat . when I stopped back at 7pm he still knew nothing. The nurse lied and said she washed out his iv line while I was there she LIED never touched it. She took off my bandage i put on him on a boil he, had looked at it and didnt have anything but a piece of gauze, mind you this was an open wound, no antibiotic, gauze that will stick.
I must say I my self have gone to this hospital for the last 12 yrs. I've had good and bad visits but after this i dont know if we'll ever go back. I feel also it was because he didnt have insurance... SAD GENESYS SAD POOR POOR CARE

Sat in the waiting room for almost 6 hours then was in a room for damn near 3 hours. The staff at the check in desk were rude as hell. The doctors don't seem to know what they're doing, not that I'm a doctor or nurse but I have family who are both who told me more about what was wrong with me than they could. It seems like every time someone I know goes here they're waiting in the waiting room for 6+ hours! That is ridiculous will never be coming back to Genesys as a patient anyway. Would leave a 1 star but if won't let u

The only reason I m giving one star is because I c...

The only reason I m giving one star is because I cannot give 0. Absolute worst experience of any hospital that I ve ever worked or been a patient of. Nursing staff is unprofessional, if not negligent, in their duties. Nurses discussed (loudly) other patients diagnosis, medications and hotness among coworkers. Nurses hung each other s IV s, and gave medications, while openly admitted that I m not your nurse and I didn t check your chart, so I m not sure why you re getting this . Doctors on staff do not know their patients well, and not only have very poor bedside manner, but seem inadequately trained. Dr. Ata was my daughter s Attending Physician. This could be attributed to staffing issues, in which case management is underperforming. Hospital could be very pretty, but is dirty, even in a time where cleanliness is paramount. Hospital Security, ED Staff and Housekeeping Staff are the exceptions They were very friendly and welcoming, and ED Staff was professional, timely and very personable. This was my first time, as a new resident, and will never come back.

I went here to find out I was having a miscarriage with my first pregnancy, I was in pain when I walked in and I still had to wait a few hours to get in. Once I was in, I still had to wait several hours. We were there for 7.5 hours. When they eventually told me it was a miscarriage for sure, the lady I had didn't seem to know exactly what she was talking about, she wasn't very helpful, and as I was crying, she stood there and stared at me. The next day I was in the most pain I have ever felt, I was screaming, my husband called the ER and they said, would we have to wait a few hours to be seen. A few hours when I'm in screaming pain? We called Crittenton instead, and they said they would see us immediately. I've since gone to Crittenton a second time as well, and they are a MUCH better hospital, ER side anyways. It's cleaner, better staffed, you still have to wait your turn, but they manage better. They are also nicer and seem to know their stuff better.

Only reason for even one star cause you had to put something. June21 I was at your facility after being told by my PCP and Hometown urgent care. To go to genesis for extreme itchiness plus hives and headache. Blood was taken and never received results. Doctor came in said lets take Benadryl and steroids. I was given a shot of ativan for who knows why,
Nurse came to check me out told me I had contact dermatis. Gave prescription and said nothing about time prescription for Benadryl. Nurse said she knew nothing about and left. Never saw her again. Got dressed and left.
Not once was I asked by anyone about drugs I might take...I think the number is around 11,all drugs for mental illness,. Not once w as. I asked about drug allergies and in fact states I had none,. Not true...I am allergic to 8 drugs.
I asked my husband to go in to get a complaint form, gave us 2 numbers. When I got home i calledfor ospital person in charge. She refused and hung up on me. Worst experience ever.

This is a Catholic hospital, which means your health doesn't come first, the religion does. Women, especially, should beware. Life saving procedures will not be performed here if they violate Church teachings. Avoid this dangerous nightmare, and make the effort to find another hospital. Meanwhile, work toward the goal of shutting this place down. The community deserves the best care possible, and they won't get it here.

Back at Genesys again thought I give them another try seeing there right down the street from me. Once again emergency counter staff was rude. Waited in room for 4 hours before a doctor even came in. Was told no doctor was assigned to section yet. And the staff on at 11 pm where sitting at nurses station talking about their daily activities instead of tending to patients who are in the ER in sever pain.

I had my first child here and it wasn't a good experience. So I stopped going to genesys hospital and started going to Hurley. I had the rest of my 3 kids there and it was an amazing experience. then last year I go to genesys because I ended up getting poison oak. I didn't have my insurance card on me so they charged me the cost of $1,400 for treating the poison oak. Now I have a process server serving me court papers because a hospital is sueing me. Wow!!! This hospital is pathetic!!!

If I could give them zero I would. Had to stop the nurses on multiple occasions from givin me wrong medication - medication that I was allergic to. They then attempted to double bill me, only to double charge me on my credit card, and finally they turned me into a bill collector - after I had paid them! This is by far one of the worst hospitals.

I wish I could name everyone that made sure I received the utmost care. Genesys is truly a great place and I have a deep respect for the staff. If possible, please pass along my thanks.

I do not understand these review's in the least bit bashing this hospital. But based on my experiences. This place saved my Dads life. They have been very kind to him and are always looking out for him and all of there patient's. So if any of what you said is true. I am sorry to hear that.

And trust me. My dad has been in and out of the hospital for 2 months now due to him being in a severe car accident. They always check on him and give him pain meds often so hes not in agony. And they even are able to make my Father smile and keep his sanity going too.

If I could give this ER a zero rating I would. They were terrible! I arrived with my adult son whom was having difficulties with his abdominal hernia. He was in excruciating pain, could not hold down fluids or food & with a high fever. We checked in at 2:15 am. My son was so thirsty & no one instructed him NOT to drink any water. As a result, he filled (2) of the throw up bags that I retrieved from the ER counter help. After each time I took the filled bag & asked when is someone going to see my son as I handed them the filled bag of vomit. It was obvious he was obstructed & had been for quite sometime. The fever reflected a possible infection starting. I was informed by the counter help that my son was not an emergency & that people arriving by ambulance will be seen first. After the 2nd bag full of vomit, I asked again & they stated he was not as much of an emergency as the patients that were arriving by ambulance & that he needs to just wait his turn. They were very rude & very non-sypathetic to the situation. My son just couldn't take it any more. So I made the decision to cut off his hospital ER bracelet right there at the counter, told them what I was doing & I drove him all the way down to Royal Oak Beaumont. Royal Oak Beaumont immediately got him checked in to a bed in the ER & was being seen by a Physician before I even finished parking my car. Come to find out that both his colon & intestine was sticking out of his hernia & because it had been out so long & with a fever it was decided he needed emergency surgery with hopes he didn't have permanent damage from his trip to Genesys Hospital. Thank God there wasn't. I will never go to this hospital ever again! The rudeness & uncaring staff help at the front ER desk was unbelievable! No one came out to check on him, no one tried to help him, no one even addressed him as he kept throwing up. What a horrible & frightening experience to say the least. Those people were more concerned about chatting with each other than they did about the people that were in the waiting room.

I went to this hospital on a Sunday and the entire staff was friendly and helpful, although they had little to no communication they were very nice, I shouldn t have to ask the doctors what s wrong with me they should tell me.. I had to come back for a check up 48 hours later, so on a Tuesday. I come back on that Tuesday and the entire staff was rude, one of the ladies at the front desk then called me a minor and when I was signing in they called my boyfriend my dad and asked him to sign for consent and it was completely rude.. do the people at the front desk even read the paper work in front of them? After that happened it took nearly 20 minutes for them to call me in to get my blood pressure and stuff taken; the lady who did that was completely rude and didn t even look at me acting like it was a bother to even help me at all. Then the guy who put an IV in my arm to get my blood was completely rude didn t even talk to me to reassure me everything would be alright he was as silent as a mouse, and didn t even tell me when he was finished with the IV; not to mention he put the IV in crooked... are they even professional at all??? After all of that happened I was sent back out in the waiting room to get put in a room and three hours later I still didn t get my name called, so I went to the front desk to get the crooked IV out of my arm and when I said I didn t want to wait all night with an IV in my arm the lady at the front desk gave me a dirty look and acted like she was judging me because I didn t want to stay and get treatment... i don t think I d ever come back to this hospital if you are going to pursue a career in the medical field please consider a couple things before you do... are you friendly? Are you professional? And do you even really care??? Because if you don t do any of those things Genesys is the perfect fit for you. I am definitely going to a different hospital I didn t feel comfortable at all not even comfortable enough for the procedures they were suppose to do on me. No thank you I ll go somewhere where they actually CARE for the patients.

The staff was very caring, but very disgruntled. It becomes very apparent that while they cared about their patients, they hated Ascension. Most were biding their time, complained continuously about how they were treated by administration. I have never heard more complaining about policies, lack of raises, benefits, and pretty much everything. All the staff, ER, Lab, nursing, surgery, radiology, everyone complained. I was treated well, but how long before the staff starts taking out their dissatisfaction on their patients.

The worst labor and delivery unit on the planet. P...

The worst labor and delivery unit on the planet. Please, please choose another hospital. Nurses do not understand methods of helping a women achieve vaginal birth. You are set on a timeline with many interventions that all lead to unneeded c-section. Nothing has been done to improve their 50% c-section rate. Unless you are someone who births quickly, they will not know how to help your labor progress other than medical procedures and eventually a c-section. Its not just labor/delivery nurses that have an issue, a postpartum nurse kept me up all night and harassed me. She wanted to get all baby testing done in the middle of the night. My child screamed for an hour straight as the nurse pricked his heal over and over (no warm wash cloth as most nurses use to help with blood flow). Horrible labor and delivery staff. I have reported the entire incident to the hospital. Since then I have heard COUNTLESS stories similar in nature. Ridiculous that they even have clients and haven t been shut down. False documentation as well and I was checked out a day early just to get some rest. Great c-section - great doctor - had to switch providers due to Genesys labor and delivery nurse staff.

This by far has become my number 1 hospital that I would not recommend pregnant women to go to. I'm almost 38 weeks and my baby has been trying to come for 6 weeks now and all they do is fill me up with fluids that has raised my blood pressure up countless times and give me pills and send me home. I've been told by different doctors that my baby is fine to come and has been fine to come and that he is very developed for his time. They just don't want to help you be at ease and allow your baby to come even if he/she is ready simply because their policy is they don't believe in allowing the baby to come until after 39 weeks! Terrible! No pregnant women should have to continue to be in pain because doctors and nurses don't want to do their job. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. Sucks the end of my pregnancy has to be this way. Plan to deliver somewhere else if it's the last thing I do!

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would.. Brought my son in after finding he had blood in his urine. We got here at 9:15 pm and its now 1:29 am and we are still sitting in the waiting room... We have seen 3 people called back since we've been here and have listened to them continue o call the name of an individual who has already walked out for the last hour.. This place has absolutely no sense of urgency and is by far the worst hospital I've ever been to. If I didn't require my sons discharge papers to keep my job I would have rather driven an hour to another hospital I know would have taken care of my son. Absolute worst hospital and unless you absolutely have to, keep going and go ANYWHERE else!! Just watched a toddler finally get called back after 6 hours of waiting... This place is a complete joke.

Scheduled a procedure when i was in for an unrelated injury 2 weeks ago. They said procedure was easy and quick so i scheduled it. Showed up today for them to say they couldn't do the procedure and I'd have to go to a specialist. So I got to waste my morning for nothing and they'll probably bill me for the pleasure as well. And once again my trust in doctors is broken, reason i haven't been to one in past 2 decades. Will not be returning to this location.

Went into the ER for abdominal pain. When you walk...

Went into the ER for abdominal pain. When you walk in and check-in, a staff member retrieves you from the side room to check your vitals and asks what you are in for and creates your profile in their system. You then are asked to be seated in lobby area until you are called to a room. I am sure they use some sort of 'urgency scale' and since I had already gone to my doctor and came in with a referral card to get a CAT scan, my wait time was not long at all (maybe 20 minutes total). The staff in the ER is hit or miss.. some of them were extremely outgoing, caring, friendly, and informative. Others are probably super over-loaded with patients and OT and fell slightly short of my expectations (most were great though). Once I received my CAT scan (roughly 3-hours after arrival), I waited another hour for the results to be read by the doctor. At this time, I was told I would be going to Emergency Observation to a formal room overnight to stay; with a diagnosis of colitis. I was also told I needed to see a gastroenteritis and that he would be sent over the next morning. All the employees in that department (Emergency Observation-OBV) were AMAZING. Judy went above and beyond for me, got me whatever I needed, was extremely friendly, and was very knowledgeable and informative. I did not suffer from any pain or loneliness from the time I got in a room to the time I left this place. The gino-specialist doctor was there early in the morning and was also very informative. I was discharged by noon the next day with all the information, prescription, and follow up appointment info I needed. I will 100% choose this hospital again.

I was there all night waiting for the birth of my great grandson. What an absolute horror. The nurses were extremely rude and ignorant. I will NEVER go there again. I have never been to a hospital with such nurses. My grand daughter was put in such stress because of them. She will never go back there either. Nurses are suppose to be there to help but all of the ones we encountered were rude and acted like they could care less about you,as if they didn't have the time for you because they had to visit with each other. Like you were just interrupting them from doing what they wanted to do. Just a real bother to them. Maybe they all need to go back to school and learn about bedside manners. How would they feel if we were one of their family. I'll bet we wouldn't have gotten treated the way we did. Shame on you all. So thankful God was with us. Today is a new day and it continues. I can't believe these nurses. One says one thing and the next one says the opposite. What should be an amazing life experience has turned into one big nightmare. I will be so happy when my grand daughter and son will be able to leave this horrible hospital.

The staff is crabby and rude, they show no respect for the ill! I had to wait 8 hours in the waiting room just to see a doctor. They also over dosed on medication for my Mom and almost killed her. Be prepared to WAAAAIIIIIIT, even in the emergency room. Recently, a family member suffered a broken hip and was transported by ambulance to the ER. They waited and waited and waited and then finally got an x-ray to confirm the break. Then they waited and waited and waited to finally be admitted and given a room. Total time was 5 1/2 hours!

Surgery was done on the next day and recovery was done on the day after that. Then on the last day they were told at about 6:00 am that they would be discharged. They then waited and waited and waited and were finally discharged at 5:00 pm.

Also, the food that is served is not healthy at all. High meat and cheese concentrations. The menu has heart symbols next to what they consider "Heart Smart." There was a Heart next to the Deluxe Hamburger! Looks like their dietician needs to do some more recent research.

On a positive note, all the nurses were friendly.

My Dad entered Genesys Hospital on a Wed. evening and released yesterday(Tues.) for congested heart failure. All the strangers that you meet(Staff/Dr.s, patients) were kind and compassionate! Sure we have been in the area and have rumors of this hospital too, but the last year he has been admitted twice and we had awesome help! Please understand and thank people for every word and deed and you will be awarded in kind! I will send a personal thank you note to the third/2nd floor staff for their professionalism and thoughtfulness.

NEVER TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! My boyfriend was brought in via ambulance with appendicitis and was placed in the waiting room and told it would be a minimum 4 hr wait. WITH ONLY A HANDFUL OF OTHER PATIENTS. Thankfully we had the brains to drive a half hr to McLaren Lapeer Region and he was taken in immediately and given pain meds and fluids. He had his surgery early in the morning and was home that night. No thanks to Ascention Genesys who was willing to let him sit in crippling pain for hours.

Couldn't be more disappointed in the wait times. Un-real!!!! Been in ER for 4hrs already and still am while doing this review and I have been told two people are ahead of me twice now. Not 20mins later a person went up to the desk to ask about the wait and was told the same thing. We never go here and never heard one good story from fam that have gone here. The drive to DMC would have been worth the distance. Unfortunately this is the closest ER. Im very disappointed that issues like these aren't ever addressed.

Took my son here last Tuesday for abdominal pain & ended up in emergency surgery for appendicitis. I was nervous because his doctor sent us to McLaren Grams Blanc, but we're from Oklahoma and I honestly didn't know the difference. I looked up the reviews of this hospital which made me even more nervous. I have to say once the surgeon came in wearing an OU lanyard, I was immediately at peace with my 12 year old having surgery there. The hospital was great, the staff was so caring & helpful. My son was supposed to be released after surgery but his oxygen was running too low, so they moved us to the pediatric floor for the night. I would definitely recommend this hospital & we will use them again.

Whoever was working at 2 pm july 22nd at the women and labor double doors was so rude. Nobody has time for that. Don't be taking out your frustrations on the people who are there to see family who just had a baby. Its ridiculous. Sounds like you life is horrible operating the security doors. Find another job lady. But to the lady who was at the other double doors in the south hall was very nice and sounded happy. Get rid of rude people, they obviously don't enjoy working there and believe rudeness is okay.

My husband went there last Friday for jaundice and severe stomach pains, they ran a bunch of tests and came back with nothing and sent him home. He went back last night projectile vomiting, more yellow, and worse stomach pains. Daniel Becker, NP came into the room and told him he was better than last time, and when I questioned him about his stomach pains and also asked other questions his response was I don t have anything else to offer you, it s not my job here in the ED to find the problem, just make sure it s not life threatening. Then sent my husband, who is still very sick home again with no answers. He was terrible. If you ever do go and he s your dr I would walk out and go literally anywhere else.

I was admitted to room 4157 on 6/16/19 and got out on the 19th. I had the BEST 3 Nurses. My main 1 was Donna Johnson. I had her 3 days and she talked with me with great care and empathy. Donna was my 1st shifter. Denise was great also I had her for 3rd shift and Casey filled in for a few hours on day of discharge. Not sure of the last names on those 2. But they were fantastic too! Now, the ER staff sucked! No compassion at ALL except the nurse who put my picc line in.

We were greeted quickly, my child's vitals were checked right away but one of the staff gave a smirky grin and said, "you look healthy". When I knew she wasn't. Maybe it's bc I had my kids with me, but we were sent back surprisingly fast. The physician assistant who saw us didn't even physically examine my child to check where she hurt. He checked her eyes, ears, and throat though. The lab tech was ridiculous bc I told her to draw from the crease of my childs arm and they went for the forearm instead, in which the vein collapsed. Besides that, the tech used a syringe attached to the needle to withdraw the blood which I found unusual bc the tubes are usually attached to the needle. So they couldn't get enough blood drawn to do the test. Another tech came in who was kind, but bc the first tech said my child would only get one poke and they were going to have to try again, my child (size of an adult) flipped out. The tech became nervous and requested 2 other women to come in to help restrain my child. The first tech who goofed said, "We aren't going to restrain her.... We just won't get blood". So hopefully we aren't charged for blood labs bc it did NOT happen. I gave a 1 star rating bc I find it absolutely absurd that they weren't going to treat us further until we paid our $150 copay right there!!!! I have NEVER been to an ER that requested that right away, it is typically billed out with anything else done. My family had to put money together to pay that $150 bc the lady wouldn't leave the room until we did. I spoke with medical professionals after we left and they even said it was illegal to do what she did! I wonder how the uninsured are treated here. I am outraged over this kind f treatment!!! Besides that, no antibiotic or anything else was given to my child. Obviously it was bc the PA didn't know what my child had except some virus and wanted us in and out. Lesson learned to go an extra half hour for proper treatment and respect.

The next day we still ended up in the pediatricians office and they diagnosed my child right away. Copay was $130 less too. Smh.

The staff at Ascension Genysys have been wonderful! We have been treated with care, dignity and respect. After each procedure, we have received a personalized phone call to check on our well being. Each professional has been positive and trying to make each visit as comfortable as possible.

This was our 3rd visit to Genesys over the past couple years... my husband, my daughter and myself have all ended up in the hospital for different reasons....and each time we ve been there we found the staff to be kind, compassionate and caring! From the check in, the nurses and physicians. Another plus was the wait time was quite minimal for an emergency room.

I have delivered 3 babies at Genesys and they have all been wonderful experiences. My delivery was very difficult for my 3rd baby and I almost died. My nurse was amazing and I credit her for saving my life. I ended up having emergency surgery right after my sons delivery and spent a night in ICU. I had L & D nurses come to the ICU floor to check on me and I had a nurse buy me a smoothie as soon as I was able to eat. After I recovered and was able to move to postpartum, the staff that helped to deliver my baby and save my life all came to my room to check on me. Genesys is amazing and I greatly appreciate all the staff. Wonderful, caring people.

So I have multiple complaints about this place. A couple of years ago my mom got her tubes tied and the doctors told her to wait 8 weeks before working out or getting intimate with someone. 8 weeks later she got the okay from the doctor to go back to her normal activities. Not even a full week later she got intimate with the guy she was seeing at the time and her stitches got ripped open. I met her in the waiting room of the emergency room. She was in unbearable pain and was bleeding out. We were there waiting for 2 damn hours. At one point my mom managed to make her way up to the desk to ask when she was going to get a room considering she was bleeding out and could have died. When she went up there she almost passed out and they literally stuck her in a wheelchair and put her back in the waiting room. Finally we got called back and within a half hour she had to be rushed into emergency surgery. MY MOM COULD HAVE DIED!!!!! My next story I came in vomiting, had diarrhea, and a really bad fever. To the point where I had to have a blanket with me because I couldn t stop shaking. I had to wait there for 5 hours before getting a room. All while still vomiting in front of everyone. They just kept giving me for vomit bags. My last complaint is when my grandma was in there for pneumonia. She wasn t doing well and was in the ICU for 2 days and couldn t even breathe on her own. They sent her home the next day saying she was fine and she was home for one day before she ended back in the hospital because she wasn t okay. I also had a coworker who had a really bad cut on her finger. One that didn t stop bleeding. She waited in the ER for 2 hours. I do not recommend this place at all unless you wanna be close to dying. Horrible service.

The doctors do not care about pain. Even with visual proof showing the messed up spinal surgery I had. Dr. Ross couldn't get off his high horse to treat the obvious unbearable pain I have. Not even one pain pill so the drive home would be tolerable. Dr. Ross may be able to save lives but he has no compassion or empathy for what is the most painful thing of my life. I have titanium rods and screws where they shouldn't be, the screw so out of place it's bending the titanium rod. But even after a pain clinic that I was not aware dealt just with oncological pain and waiting a week to see a new surgeon, Dr. Ross finds it his personal mission to make my days misery.

I had both of my kids there with Dr. Kingsbury who was amazing. The nurses on the floor were very kind and assisted me with everything I needed. After giving birth, I was very hungry, and my nurse went out of her way to get me food and something to drink.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. This hospital is not equipped to care for this condition, her baby would die a few minutes after birth. She went down to Florida to get a consultation with a leading pediatric surgeon and will be relocating there at 34 weeks to deliver. She went to her MFM appointment at Genesys today and was denied care because she will be seeking treatment at delivery with another hospital. Genesys doesn't care about your health, they care about your $$$.

My sister in law passed away here tonight but her care team was phenomenal! From Nichole in the ER to the two young residents and nursing staff in MICU we were shown kindness and compassion. I don't even know where to start about Sami the RN! He showed so much love and patience for our family! James was great too! I pray they are blessed abundantly for their kindness!!

The people at the front desk for er like to judge people and make them feel very low about themselves. I was in earlier today for trouble breathing and was told to come back if it gets worse, so I did and the people at the desk told me there was nothing wrong with me. I got so upset that I turned around and walked right out the door.

What the heck is going on? What once was a decent...

What the heck is going on? What once was a decent hospital has turned into a third world country treatment center. I have seen vets have more compassion for animals than this hospital has. Try getting a hold of someone in the Heart Institute. it took 4 days and I left 2 messages, no callbacks and still no appointment until I got a hold of Mary in cardio rehab who was just nasty and rude and would not let me ask questions about the program. It was obvious she didn't want to be on the phone.

It is all about the bottom line not patient care here. I guess we will focus on Hurley now. And as far as a response from the owner/mgr on this post...please save your political correctness and just move along. Don't want to hear about how much you care. Actions taken show the care...not words in print. What I am curios about is why 3 of my specialist have left since Accession took over?

My husband was rushed to Ascension Genesys a mont...

My husband was rushed to Ascension Genesys a month ago because he was having symptoms of a stroke. The ER staff did not order a CT or MRI. Instead, they admitted him. After several days, and very few tests, my husband could no longer walk on his own. He was declining fast. I was to the point of having my husband moved to a different hospital to get the care he needed. It was not until after my brother who is a neurologist (out of state) asked the hospitalist to do an MRI that things started to change for the better. The results were just as we had suspected. He had evidence of several mini-strokes. In addition, from the point where we got the patient advocate, case manager, neurologist, nephrologist, and cardiologist involved, I became much happier at Ascension Genesys.
I cannot express the importance of the doctors working as a team. That was not happening at first. They should be meeting together regularly about the patients.
I would also like to give Kudos to our favorite nurse who went above and beyond...Sue Gilson on the Telemetry floor. She was compassionate, proactive, encouraging and extremely professional.
The rehab. therapists were great as well in Inpatient Therapy. Our favorite Physical Therapist was Melissa Cate. She was professional, proactive, kind, and encouraging. She taught me how to help my husband and her training even allowed him independence when he came home.
It has been an emotional experience at Ascension Genesys. Will we be back? I'm not sure at this time. I do really hope that there are improvements made.

Why aren't workers wearing masks properly? You ask patients and visitors to wear them? I am sitting in the waiting room for labs and have seen a bunch of workers in the bathrooms here and behind the desk with out masks on or not on properly! I am very disappointed with this hospital!

This place was a joke. It took over 6 hours to get told they have no idea what's wrong. Then they looked at the wrong person's chart and almost gave unnecessary medication because of it. They gave 3 things that in reality only 2 were needed and necessary. Unprofessional, just all out horrible in every way. Very sad.

This emergency department treats people like they ...

This emergency department treats people like they are just a number... I wasn't the guy with the flu that should have went to his regular doctor. I had food stuck in my esophagus. There was no swallowing anything as I kept regurgitating my own saliva. I spent hours trying to get it to go down. After much reluctance I went to the ED at 19:00. I was treated like freak show and pretty much mocked by all the students rotated through. Being that I am in healthcare I could not believe how I was treated. Spent all night in the ED choking into a emisis bag. Finally it passed at 6:30.. I wanted to go home but the GI doc had come in. He completely apologized for what I had been through. The useless ER person that called him at 21:00 the night before did not mention I could not swallow at all. Long story short I found out I had a somewhat rare narrowing condition in my esophagus. This ED is NOT what it used to be. For years I took patients to Health Park as it used to be a good ED. Now the doctor's group and staff is a joke. This hospital is now know as geneside in the healthcare community.

I don t even want to give them 1 star. My husband went in emergency with Vertigo and was left for hours on a gurney in the hallway throwing up with no help. He was yelled at for vomiting on the floor because he was wasn t given anything to puke in. Then a horrible nurse turned him into the State of Michigan as unstable to drive and his license was taken away for a year. He lost his driving job and our family suffered for months. Now he has to go back every 6 months for a review to get his license back. Please choose another hospital, this one caused our life hell and still no answers on what caused it.

-2 is my rating!! Been here since Feb 26, 2018. My husband had a stroke. While there are some great nurses , there are just as many crabby, lazy , rude nurses. My husband had to have crushed pills in applesauce, several times in ICU , 4N and on the rehab floor I had to stop nurses from giving him whole pills with no apple sauce. While in ICU and disoriented, my husband tried to get out of bed, had I not been in the room he would ve been on the floor. Nurses didn t put the bed rails up!! They ve come by to give him meds he s not suppose to have, Continuity of care for a patient is a complete joke!! I have been with my husband almost constantly since he got here and if I leave I have a family member with him.( I ve only left 3 times for a total of 18 hrs during those 3 times) There is so much that needs be fixed at this hospital. Do not leave your family member unattended assuming that the CNAs and nurses will tend to your loved one. Some are overworked and some just don t care!! The rehab therapy staff is wonderful and highly recommend them. The food for the patients is absolutely awful. There s not a meal that goes by where my husbands food is not messed up somehow. For 2 wks. He ate the same meal for lunch and dinner due to swallowing issues and they still couldn t get his meal right. One day they brought him 3 bowls of different gravies and chicken for his meal. The other patients say they are missing food they ordered but have no family with them so they go without. We ve had three kitchen managers visit my husbands room and still his food order gets messed up. The people who work in the food service for the rehab floor either can t read or they just could care less. I complain daily cause I know our insurance is being billed a lot for these crappy meals and service but it s quite obvious Genesys could care less also. You get tired of having to tell them how to do their job. I ve even visited the kitchen twice myself! My husbands job is to focus on stroke recovery as he has left side paralysis. Dealing with incompetent food people who don t care shouldn t even have to be a concern for him. Nutrition should be a top priority for a hospital and most of the food is processed and so unhealthy!! I cannot believe in 2018 that this hospital has such below standard food service!! He was upgraded to regular liquids almost 2 wks ago and still the 3 rd shift CNA brought him thickened water. WHATEVER!! So over it, I didn t say anything I just dumped it out and I take care of him myself! I guess I m blessed that our life is such that I am a CNA and an OTA student. I m able to stay with him 24/7 to take care of him while in the hospital. I know so many don t have that option.
