Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I was trying to resolve a bill and got transferred three times..each time I had to give my address, name phone and account numbers. I asked a question and when the person put me on hold, she disconnected me. Rather than call me back, she left that up to me.For the SECOND time now, like so many others, I thought I had paid my bill in full and then suddenly i get ANOTHER huge bill with late charges. They were mailing my bill to an address I hadn't lived at for over 30 years. UNREAL..total mess, and they need to learn the meaning of customer service..totally disgusted

Thank you to the representative who reassured me that the mistaken $50 bill was actually a credit on my account. Now I'm getting mail from a debt collector saying that was not true. Yet, the email from this company today definitely says I owe $0. Really disappointed with the lack of communication and knowledge from the representative and this company. Hoping this doesn't effect my credit due to the fact that I spoke with this person, was reassured that it was not a bill, and that the road mentioned was under construction on the dates listed on the "bill". Meaning, the toll road was more of a hindrance than a convenience.

The Express Toll customer service is the absolute best. No matter if I call or email every single person I have had contact with over the last several years has been extremely helpful, polite and provides a lot of knowledge regarding account information, address changes, toll services and ways to save the most using my toll account. I have never experienced the level of service they offer when it comes to customer service, they really are the best. The only CON is the website, the site is slow and could be a lot more efficient. The negative comments here are mostly website and fee related. If the website is ever updated, that would make a huge difference, and those dealing with fees - just call, the customer service center is very helpful and flexible, and willing to help.

Highway Robbery!! We received our first toll bill 3 months after our trip through Colorado...with added late fees. I tried to contact customer service and was caught in an automated loop that directed me back to a promotional account setup. I didn't need an account! It was a one time toll!
When I finally connected to a human voice....click!! Disconnected! Hmmm...wonder why?
If out of state motorists are going to be billed, it should be done in a timely manner!!! There were no problems with registration or address, so it was completely on processing.

Then they charged me an additional $20 on top of my payment plan, without my permission. This place shouldn't be allowed to take peoples credit card information if they're going to make unauthorized transactions against their will.

a question. you always do this without sending the bill for 8 months, then send an unpayable amount with absurd interest. they are doing money laundering that are not yours.right after the first bill I received a priceless amount. I never passed the tolls again. I recommend that you do the same. it would be fair for me and anyone here to go without receiving the bill for 8 months. if you live in the same house and everything is registered there for almost 2 years.

I drive for both Uber and Lyft in the toll roads are something that we use quite often. Yes they can get expensive I've spent almost $60 in one night just driving on the toll roads alone but they're the nicest road Denver offers they are impeccably clean, very well maintained during snow storms, and easy to drive on at higher legal speeds than other freeways. U can always try I-70 I-25 or 225 during rush hour and utterly despise life. However I have found the customer service representatives to be very helpful and quick to resolve any issues. I know there fees and I accept it. I consider it fair. The transponder allows for discounted rates, more or less that's it. Thank you E-470

Terrible people, all they do is scam scam scam. I took the toll in November of 16 and didn't even get my bill until april, for 30 dollars which was sent to collections, they said they sent out 4 bills, which is false I never received any bills not only that I called several times a month to see what my bill was so I could get it paid and no one could find my information, I called several times bc last time I took the toll they never sent a thing in the mail well it went to collection Andi had to pay over 80 dollars. Very rude people, wouldn't let me speak to the supervisor and when I did she pretty much acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. I'm so surprised they haven't been sued yet . Let me tell you though, If i take the toll again and this happens I will be sueing them. I'm so tired of rude and money hungry people.

I got 2 letters from Express Toll letting me know one of my transponders wasn't operating. The phone agent was extremely helpful and sent a new transponder out right away. I appreciate their alerting me (twice!), the agent's courtesy and thorough research.

Anybody else get sent to collection since they had the wrong address? One you ve never lived at, in a state you ve never visited, 5 months later after driving through the toll? I emailed saying I would pay the toll, which I didn t even know I drove through, but all the fees that don t add up, along with collection fee can t be fixed. This is a great way to scam people of extra money.

Data point: the supervisor said Colorado drivers can be affected but out-of-state drivers will just go to collections. If your bill is $20+ and you're out of state, I'd just let it roll then ask the collection agency for proof.

Why would you not do this at midnight on say a wednesday instead of a functional saturday at noon when most humans can actually use the service. F minus for this aspect of the service. It's a scam. Turns out that the same piece of road is managed by to companies, expresstoll and northwest parkway, and they each bill you for using it. I payed one, kept getting bills for the other one, and thought I'd payed it. Ended up paying $60 for late fees on expresstoll. Never taking that again!

Aside from Denver Water, the biggest scam in Denver. Be careful--they'll go without months of billing you, then suddenly back-bill you and add tons of unaccountable charges. And when asked to prove these additional charges, they conveniently don't have proof. I'd like to think it's just a really broken billing system, but it's more sinister than that. Also, check your back account after making a payment, especially over the phone. I've been charged more than I've approved over the phone, even though I was told I was paying in full. And when asked for an explanation, the CS reps play dumb and say "whoops, we'll just apply a credit to your account since you'll probably use the toll road again." This is 1920's-level Italian mafia stuff.

Just received two bills for tolls. I never received any notices until both were past due. I called and they were able to lower each bill but I feel like I got ripped off. The operator told me "we are not sure why you were not contacted at your new address but you will have 24 hour to pay or you will have to pay the original cost." Words of advice, STAY OUT OF AURORA! Its the arm pit of Colorado.

I think it is ridiculous that you have to pay to drive on their roads, an they aren't the greatest, I also do not agree with their billing. It takes 3 months to get a bill, you then call because you think you already paid the bill and customer service says, oh this is another bill for a date in June and oh by the way you will get another one for August in another month. Absolutely ridiculous and just another way for government to screw hard working Americans.

OKAY so I have a toll bill for a little less than $200 AND THEN they charged me an extra $400 in fees!!! Apparently the bill goes back as far as 3 years! I would have definitely paid the toll if I knew I had the bill. I had NO idea, and was not aware until I received a bill for over $600! WHAT? So as soon as I received the bill, I automatically called the contact number and talked to an agent who then told me to talk to someone over at the DMV to see if they could help me with the problem I was having. After speaking to the woman at the DMV, I called back and I spoke with agent 118 and he was the most DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL individual I have ever spoken to. He rudely HUNG UP on me after telling me there was nothing he could do. The website says they strive to reach customer satisfaction and I am absolutely 100% UNSATISFIED with 1) the way I, as a human being, was spoken to, and 2) for the fact that they are robbing, and stealing money from Colorado citizens. WOW I am so infuriated by the way this man antagonized the situation and the way this company treats us as residents of Colorado. ZERO STARS.

Authorities should not employ practices that hinder and complicate navigation of process and usability to the public. When an authority employs system and procedure with the express purpose to generate revenue, that authority no loger operates with the good of the People at heart. The People are not cash livestock and should not be subject to extortion.

Have had more issues trying to get my daughter's car tag set up but because I had started my car but never finished it, I keep getting errors that the account is already open with that name, address and email and must be used for the new tag. BUT it wont let me into "my" account and says to call customer support BUT when I call they just repeat the error to me. And I'm being harged the higher rate because they can't get there "S"tuff together (or maybe they have and this is just one more way to charge more to already outrageous prices (I spent 10 years back east where tolls are responsible)

I've lived in Colorado for less than a year and used this toll road maybe 10-15 times but have been charged well over $500. The whole system is a murky black box and I don't think there is a lot of accountability in how billing works.

I used to work in a restaurant with a dishonest guy who hated it when people didn't tip. So on every receipt without a tip added in, or a tip he thought was too low, he write in a few bucks to the final bill. It was shady because people wouldn't come back and be like "Hey wait a minute, I never tipped!" so he always made extra money every shift.

E470 management is that guy. It's good plausible deniability, especially when you have to use their system to prove if you were actually on their highway at the time they have you for, so most people don't have the means to verify. All they can do is just go along with the fees.

Oh yea, and that guy ended up getting fired.

HOWEVER...if you're traveling from the south into denver on the way to airport, you can totally bypass the toll road by driving up one more exit (ignore the big ass AIRPORT signs) and take Interstate 225. Theres more traffic....but you totally avoid the tolls...little tip for everyone.

I moved from Texas and for the time until I changed my license over set my Texas registration to my mother's house in Texas. I had a couple of toll bills from last year, but they did not send any of the invoices to that address until enough late fees had added up to constitute collection measures. I called and explained the situation, but I was told the $20 collection fee could not be waived. From a quick glance through the other reviews I see that I am not the only person who this has happened to. So they are fraudulently submitting a debt to collections by not giving the debtee proper notice. Total scam, I am glad I do not live in that state anymore. I drove on Texas toll roads for years without so much as a small complaint.

I used the toll road to take a family member back to the airport in September. I was told by everyone in CO that they would send you the bill in the mail and it was about $15. I have been waiting for the bill in the mail when yesterday I got a letter from a collector's agency stating that I had a past due fee and that I owed a total of $42.25. I never even got the bill in the mail! I have never been late to pay a bill and now I am being sent to a collector's agency?!? They clearly had my address since the collector's agency knew where to send their mail! No wonder citizens lose respect and faith in other people and our judicial system.

Rental Car Issue - I live in a State where we have toll booths...and I like the efficiency of NOT having to stop and get out cash to pay a toll. I assumed that somehow I would "settle" with the rental car company after my trip for the tolls charges against my rental car. I'm sure in small print the agreement stated their fee structure but I didn't see it. So you can imagine my shock when I opened up a bill for 3 tolls totaling $10 (expected) and $45 in administrative fees ($15 per toll - NOT EXPECTED) that the rental company charged. Again, no problem with the tolls....but Colorado should really take a look at how the rental car companies are gouging tourist on this toll scheme.

Prior to driving on US 36 HOV lane I bought a transponder to comply with the rules that were in place to drive in the HOV lane. I had to set up an account by paying $15 for the transponder and another $35 to Express Toll as an initial amount that they could deduct from my in case I used the toll road.

Last month I got a bill from using the HOV toll road even though I had a transponder. Express Toll automatically deducts, at will, from the account I set up. I called Express Toll and asked why I got the bill and why they deducted from my account. The woman said the transponder should be mounted behind the mirror not below it as I had done. So I changed where it was mounted. This month I got another bill, this time I emailed Express Toll and was told the transponder needed to be mounter horizontally, not vertically as I had done. At this point I re-read the mounting instructions. The instructions state "affix the transponder on the INSIDE of the windshield below your rear-view mirror with the HOV / TOLL switch side facing the driver" It says nothing about being behind the mirror or mounting it horizontally. I realized I had done nothing wrong, I followed the instructions that Express Toll set up, I had the proper amount of people in the car with me, I was due a refund.

I emailed Express Toll asking for a refund for past, present and future tolls for which I was in compliance. To date they have not refunded any of my money and continue to deduct from my account even though I have the transponder, have the required people in the car and have complied with their program. I wonder how my many thousands of people Express Toll has just taken their money even though they have complied with the very rules the company has set up. I am sure thousands are due a refund, yet Express Toll makes it nearly impossible to get one. They deserve zero stars.

O Sad, when you are required to give 1 star. No wonder they have a 1.7 rating. Like everyone else, I find their tactics to you scam out of money to be B.S. I receive a toll statement every month and I pay it every month. I was surprised to find to find a notice with a collection fee of $20. I called to dispute it and they tell me that they have various accounts with my one license plate number. ?? Every month, I pay the bill that I receive. Screw up on their part, or DMVs part. Either way, I'm on the hook for a collection fee? Especially insulting that this is how they try to get you pre-pay for an account. Not that this post is going to change the poor service they provide, But I think we all need to be more vocal about the state making every highway improvement, a freakin toll road. It's a nightmare.

Customer service was cordial, but absolutely unwavering and unhelpful. Received a pink overdue notice in the mail, forwarded from an old address, for $53. Didn't remember using the toll service at all. Tried to go online, the website was down. Called customer service, got a kind woman who told me that they had officially sent 8 notices, to an old address, for a charge from June of last year (a year ago) and even though I said I didn't receive any, they could only take off $5 from the total, or I could sign up for an account but I would have to pay $35 to put money in it right away. Asked to speak to her supervisor, she said the same thing, absolutely no way they could take off any charges, except for $5, or I could talk to collections. Gave up, paid $48 for a $3.25 charge + $20 collections and $25 civil penalty fee. Read multiple forums of similar situations across the state. Apparently "all mail doesn't forward"....until they've racked up $45 in charges of course.

They purposely hold your payment to get a late fee. Mailed on 11/27 and supposedly they didn't receive it by the 4th (when I live two states away) so I get a $5 late fee tacked on. They send out the bill close to the due date so they can play this game. Plus, there were two people in the car in a HOV lane so I shouldn't have got a toll fee anyway. Scam.

This is a predatory organization and they should be shut down. They imposed unreasonable fines and fees for trailers with two or more axles. They do not make any effort whatsoever to notify customers that they have a balance. I drive E-470 three or four times per year. After I had a change of address, ExpressToll made no effort to contact me or inform me that I had an outstanding balance, even though the post office had my forwarding address. I called them after several months after realizing I had driven E-470 several times without receiving any bills. My original toll fees had more than tripled and customer service made NO effort to adjust or waive these fees. I am a responsible person who always pays my bills on time. I went out of my way to do the right thing and pay a balance due after realizing that this company had not fulfilled their reasonable responsibility to make me aware that I owed them money. Predatory!!! They should be shut down.

EDIT: After initially spending over an hour on the phone with ExpressToll and ultimately paying $65 in late fees for bills I never received, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Within a month a supervisor named Sandra reached out to me; she was much more understanding of my situation than the person I spoke with previously. She agreed to refund the $65 in late fees. Although I still feel that ExpressToll needs an overhaul in terms of how they handle billing, assessing late fees, etc., I am grateful that Sandra made an effort to do what was right, and resolve our dispute. I hope that going forward ExpressToll will take to heart the many complaints they have received which are similar to mine, and find a better, more fair and effective way to treat their customers. Sandra was very helpful, however the other employees I have dealt with at ExpressToll should be fired.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to get to the airport when you're coming from the north. Unless you want to take a 70 mile detour. Their fees are a joke at nearly $4 per tollplace. Make all the excuses they want, they're cashing in. I don't care if they're 'not state funded'.
If you want to use their tolls along I25, gawds help you. You'll either need a transponder OR somehow smash three people's faces against your windscreen to prove the occupancy of your vehicle (because two people apparently isn't HOV nowadays...).

Turn "Avoid Tolls" on with Google Maps and avoid the wasted money and time. It now costs me $17.30 to go the airport and back from Parker, CO. I was previously charged half that, but after 4 emails and maps and proof of my previous trips, I never received an answer that explained why it suddenly doubled. Then, they want you to pay 35 additional dollars for no reason into your 'account' where it suddenly costs 2 dollars to mail a letter. Avoid if you can, the extra 10 minutes are going to be spent thinking about where I can buy lunch with the money I saved.

Zero if I could. Moved shortly after using the toll, and also sold the vehicle that I was in when I used the road. I therefore could not move the registration from the old address to the new address because I no longer owned the vehicle. So the result was $102 bill which I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WAS DUE. Frustrating experience, sure seems like a class action will catch up to them at some point. Hope it does, they need to act within reason and I don't think they do. Additionally, the penalties and fines associated with a small bill seem totally out of line and within the realm of usury.

Having driven toll roads back east, Express Tolls has them beat in both cost and customer service. Website is pretty easy to use and updates automatically. I travel for business frequently and use 470E to the airport. Saves time, easy on price.

470W to the mountains is a little iffy now with construction, but likely to be great once complete.

We made a wrong turn towards the airport and the ONLY option to turn around was to get on E470. We got on and got off and received a bill for almost $10 when I called to explain, the lady seemed like she understood and asked a supervisor to waive the charges. She came back explaining the supervisor denied my request. I talked to the supervisor and she said they had to "pick and choose" who they can waive and my situation wasn't worthy. Then she proceeded to hang up on me. It's funny because they ask you to take a survey afterward and she hung up on me so I wasn't able to do that. It just seems like another shiesty way for Colorado to make extra money by ripping people off.

But the rep tells me there is nothing they can do besides reset the password. Uses a really sketchy lawfirm too that somehow has all the correct and current info. Highway robbery. My daughter and I vacationed in Colorado a couple of months back the original bill got dumped in the recycle pile I'm assuming with all the other crap we get.. and now they fined me an extra 20 dollars for a grand total of 83.65.

I traveled over 10k miles last year vacationing and visiting family and have never seen a toll so high ever. Unreal how any state can justify this.

I would. I m so disappointed with the lack of professionalism. You will NOT save any time using these tolls because when you go to pay your bill, you can expect to spend a whole day. PLEASE make sure to record your conversations. Especially if you are dealing with Agent #77- Steven or Supervisor #5. Record conversations so you can take it to court in every county you are charged. They make their own rules, our bill changed 4 times in the course of one phone call. It is a total scam and they are opportunistic.

I just received a bill for traveling on a highway I've never been on. According to the statement, I was driving on this toll road on a Thursday 12/17/15 at 2PM. Problem is, I was sitting in my office in Henderson, Nevada at this date and time. I have only been to Colorado once, about 6 years ago. I took taxis the whole time I was in Denver.

Can't wait to call customer service to sort this out. From the reviews here it seems like this will be like pulling teeth.

Whatever you do, before you pay these people, make sure everything is on the up and up. In my case it definitely isn't and I have a feeling these people are trying to scam me/steal my CC info.
