Beyond diabolical my non fault accident happened on the 30th October 2015, I received my payout eventually in March 2017 after chasing constantly. However my son who was also in the vehicle has not received his compensation and I ve been informed carpenters sent the information to the wrong insurers I have no idea how same accident, same car, address etc even same solicitor dealing with. I think the service the provide is unacceptable and no better than the solicitors cogent who passed their cases to carpenters I suspect it is the same staff.

I was holding off writing a review until the end of my case. Thought it would be fair but I had had enough now.

My accident was on the 13th December 2015. It was a pretty straight forward case, I was rear ended on the M25 slip road. 3rd part accepted liability there and then and accepted formally within days.

My brother was paid out for his PI claim within a few months but I on the other hand have had nothing but problems.

It took a number of months to even get seen by a doctor, and he was useless, shared room with others in some dodgy sports club, didn't even get out the chair I just sat there whilst he asked me questions.

It was then months and months before I heard anything, many unanswered calls, many unanswered emails later still nothing.

I gave up in the end and on the 6th December 2016 (1 day short of a year) I wrote a very in depth complaint email to which I had a follow up called by the team manager Julie. It was actually a positive call, promised to get the ball rolling, apologized about not having 1 single bit of treatment within the 12 months I had waited. The best outcome was that the ball was rolling again.

Don't be fooled though, it stalled a month or so later. They estimated me a reasonable figure, put it forward and was rejected to which they went back with another figure, without asking me first. Nor did they inform me it had been rejected.

This again got rejected and then they said they were going to go to court. Again didn't hear much for a few weeks, finally got an email reply to be told that they had to wait for a certain time period to expire before they can go to court.

That came and went. Still nothing, I was then told I would get an interim payment until the case is won then full payment after. So far, still nothing.

I chased again today twice via email, no out of office replies so assumed everyone CC'd was in work. 3 phone calls to the switch board, 2 phone calls to the direct line numbers of the agent Linda and the manager Julie and still no answer.

So that's it done. Decided to give up, when they have the decency to call back, answer or reply to an email I will certainly be instructing them that they will be off the case. I have spoke to numerous companies whom can turn this around within 15-31 days.

Bit annoying it will cost considering this is 3rd party claim but I just cannot spend anymore time chasing. Read the reviews it seems a common fault of Carpenters.

Another interesting read is there website and how they claim to be about the people, unsure which people like to be ignored but there isn't any that I know of. No doubt I will get a lame reply to this as well asking me to email another complaint or drop a line to some customer resolutions team. It's pointless. Been there, done that, fallen for your drabble. Not again.

In 2 months this will be 2 years if I let it carry on. That is beyond a joke to see 1 doctor, receive zero treatment and have half arced snotty replies to emails when they can be bothered.

Please, ask your insurance companies for some else, it's down to you legally who you instruct to fight your claim, use this to your advantage and swerve Carpenters at all costs.

if they were as good as they say they wouldn't have such a low review rating on Google and 192. They just auto respond, you send an email and get sold false hope.

Disgusting customer service. worst customer service we have ever experienced. because of their negligence my partner is now is a very unstable place both mentally and physically, STAY AWAY FROM THESE MONEY GRABBING IDIOTS. they are not even solicitors but paralegals who are incapable of following the solicitors code of conduct - IN OUR CASE AND OPINION.
PLEASE STAY AWAY AND GET PROFESSIONAL HELP/ADVICE SOMEWHERE ELSE we don't want anyone to go through what we have because of this company

Forever chasing up for confirmation on minor details. Don't hear anything in months & get a letter through asking for customer service feedback. If anyone ever crashes into my vehicle & I need to reclaim my excess in the future I will 100% be going through another solicitors.

I left a review on trust pilot weeks ago about there terrible service, they messaged asking me to contact as they was ''concerned" about my review, I emailed them and have not heard since!! A truly terribly unorganised company with absolutely NO customer service skills in my opinion. I had 4/5 handlers sometimes they would come and go before I met them! They made my claim very stressful and i had to do most things for myself!! Worst company I've ever interacted with and would of done anything to get away from them. The staff just seem miserable and ignore your complaints/requests. I have been dealing with them for over one year now, please go to a smaller firm who has time, patience and will give you care and guidance.
January 2019 - A little update for you, THEY ARE STILL TERRIBLE i was ignored for nearly 4MONTHS after seeking help and advice from them !!! I have had to do my own research to back myself up and get my own help and advice, since doing so its very clear that carpenters (IN MY OPINION) do not know what they are doing. they have even told me im not allowed to leave them as they want their money. carpenters fob me off as much as they can, they also lie and tell you you are not entitled to things that LEGALLY they have to provide you with and they also like to tell you how you should and should not feel when you complain if they disagree with you, what ever happened to the customer is always right?!!

I found Carpenters to be helpful and positive to work with. They were very thorough and helped me to complete my case and obtain compensation. There were some delays but they always returned my emails reasonably promptly. I'd just say you probably need to give them a little nudge every now and then if you haven't heard anything for a while but all in all I was completely satisfied.

Never have I come across such incompetence , lack of communication (never reply to emails ) abrasively rude staff and constantly fobbed off with Mis information . Have to do all your own chasing of appointments and when lose all your medical records it takes 2 months to tell you ! Never get a call to update you and rarely answer phone when call them ! Fortunately now transfered case to a proper professional company who know how to deal with people . Use carpenters at your peril .

Referred to this company by my insurance company. Initially things moved very quickly. Commenced physiotherapy and a full indepenant review within weeks. The rest that followed was appallingly for a team of solicitirs. No update on case apart from occasional letter stating waiting for my GP to release my medical notes. Despite advisingvthem I had seen proof these had been forwarded to them...continued to advise this was cause of delay. Months aftr second medical review and failure to receive report contacted them to raise concerns on the management of my case. Given same story GP causing delay...replied with a very disgruntled email and only then advised..'THEY HAD RECEIVED THEM MONTHS AGO BUT HAD BEEN LOST BY CARPENTERS'

So far Carpenters law have been slow to respond, on occasions rude and I really think they need to review their customer services.. There are time limits on offers and counter offers. Time is money. Time has caused stress.
Sick of it. Carpenters Law took over another company that went bust. Cogent.. Maybe should have taken on enough staff who new what they were doing.
Will also think of getting Compensation for all the phone calls, emails and migraines.No joke..

Communication is terrible. They keep passing your case around to different people and ask for the same information. lol They waste your time. Companies like this shouldn't exist.

If I knew what I know now I woudn't have gone anywhere near this company. No response to emails, telephone calls and even returned forms. Posted and emailed forms back which 3 months later claimed they hadn't recieved, if I hadn't chased it up I'd be none the wiser. I have no faith in this company to deliver compensation at all. Please do yourselves a favour and use a local firm, do not be hoodwinked by your insurance into use these people.

I will admut when carpenters first took on my claims, both myself and my daughter were 'passed around' the business and within about 2 months we had already gone through 4 solicitors! HOWEVER when our files were finally handed to Natassja, she was superb. She always kept me updated on the progress, always explained things that i didnt understand and gave good advice and got thw claims sorted quickly and effificently so it really turned things around. Thank god for natassja as if it wasnt for her i wouldve taken my claims elsewhere

This rating is based on the service provided so far and I hope now the complaints procedure is now in front of me things can change and this review can be edited. A very unsympathetic handler in writing which has not helped things at all.
I would suggest when taking out insurance that you check your legal expenses are not to one named company such as this which can be restricting.
Hopefully things will change and as will my review if so.

When you finally get in touch they fob you off with the same rubbish that they told the month before . If I could give even less stars, I would do it. The company is overrated. I had a traffic accident, where the perpetrator's insurance company took the blame for the accident. Despite such a clear situation, the company's employees could not do anything in this situation. My compensation for physical and psychological injuries has been neglected, and the compensation awarded does not meet my expectations. Employees of this company, even in civil proceedings in court, could not properly prove my case. It was not my intention to extort undue compensation, but in this case I lost not only health but also the savings that I had to spend to cover the costs associated with the accident. I am not recommending this company to anyone, they are hopeless as lawyers.

Car accident is a huge stress. Already in the first days after the accident. Unfortunately, the company's employees disregarded it, especially Richard Stevens. This man was the cause of my accident and he did not know about it. I can confidently say that I was discriminated against by him. As a result, my complaint was very low, but it was not possible to check the fault. For my part, it was not the action of wanting to extort undue compensation. I have lost a lot of money for compensation. I will not elaborate on this subject, I can not be sure that I do not want to be in the future. I do not recommend this office to anyone.

My own personal experience of Carpenters Glasgow office was first class from start to finish. I was kept fully informed of developments at all stages in the process and I would heartily recommend them to others for being extremely competent and professional in all of their business dealings with my case.

Like all reputable Law firms Carpenters are governed by the Law Society and therefore must comply to their standards.
I hope I am never involved in any sort of claim for an RTE again, but I know whom I may call if I am !

I have had no response what so ever from my email and over the last couple of weeks I have emailed my case handler 3 times and up to now, I have had no response. For a straight forward case I don't believe this is acceptable. I would like this to be investigated and to be contacted please.

I have to agree with the majority of the comments here about how extremely poor their customer service is. Firstly , all correspondence meant for me has gone to the passenger of the vehicle whom was in my car when i was hit. I have e-mailed many times but no response , i have called on more than 20 occasions in the last month alone and about twice someone picked up the phone to let me know they will pass a message on to my handler and she would call me back which she hasn't done at least once, and they have an 0844 number which should tell you how much they value Customer service. All i wanted was an update on my case , what is happening but nothing . the only correspondence i have received from carpenters was the letter stating if you want to proceed your claim with carpenters. Pathetic service , extremely poor handling of customer queries. I started this claim 6 months ago , of which carpenters has only dealt with it since 4 months ago . Are you guys not getting paid for this? because i think you are forgetting that you are getting paid for this service and the return for the customer is nothing... DO NOT GO WITH CARPENTERS , i shall be going elsewhere because i have had enough of their bullshit

So far so good my claims handler Laura McNally has been more than helpful via telephone calls and letters and though still relatively early days things seem to be moving along smoothly not always quick to respond to e-mails but I imagine the volume of cases these people deal with would make this almost impossible to respond to everybody right away, patience seems to be the key the claims process is far from straight forward and I have generally been put at ease general feeling my case is in safe hands. 3stars at present but I things continue to go the right way that will be upped to 5 at the end of the process, thanks.

Have called carpentors for my car accident claim.. which was a rear end shunt nearly 2 years ago and after the review from before, James has been very helpfull and supportive in this matter and taken over to sort out this matter and thank you for clarifying the fine details.

Carpenters have been there for me from the start and have been attentive, understanding and respectful. My case is ongoing and a guy called Tinashe is dealing me. Many bad reviews on here, people need to appreciate just how busy these people are. We are not the only ones with a case, and I'm very sure each individual representative has an extremely large work load. Communication has been good with emails being replied to quickly and my case worker always on the other end of the phone. I feel my case has made very good progress and I have a lot of faith in this company. Thank you carpenters!

My wife had an RTA towards the end of Sept 15. The 3rd party took full responsibility for the accident. My wife has had 2 handlers (1st- John Mcgregor and 2nd- Dawn Delaney current handler) for this case and it feels like we are constantly getting fobbed off with bs with the inclusion of the automated email response - out of the office until..... You know what I mean right? She has also had to send in the same information twice due to it going "missing" It doesn't fill you with confidence when a law firm is so lax with keeping your details and information safe and secure. If this isn't sorted in the next couple of weeks then I will make sure this goes to the ombudsman

Carpenters have helped me loads after I was knocked off my Motorbike. They have arranged for various health care workers to assist me in my recovery over the past year. They also helped arrange an interim payment to help me with being out of work due to the accident. I have felt that Carpenters have acted on my behalf in a very professional manner and have always been at the end of the phone if required..
Amazing people at this company and I would recommend them to everyone.

Literally the hardest company I have EVER had to deal with!

I had an accident that wasn't my fault almost a year ago (Literally nearly our 1year anniversary!) I'm still no closer to getting anything sorted or finding out whats happening! No updates, no contact from them, I can never get hold of anyone when I call, and IF I do finally manage to speak to a person, the member of staff that I need can't answer my call or isn't available and staff are generally really rude and uninterested.

I decided to pay more for my car insurance this year purely so I don't ever have to deal with these people again! Terrible!

12 May 2016 Ok so I have read the reviews some good most bad!, the 1st stages of the claim have been good, Sylwia Werner has been very informative and helpful so far.

17 June 2016 still waiting for medical report from medical check 31st May 2016 under going physio. i guess these things take time as solicitors do battle where do people think that a claim can be done anytime sooner than 3 months is beyond me. solicitors generally are very busy people

To be honest at first it was brilliant reports come bk quick medical went fine then they sed they were taking 25% of my claim so I tried to inquire about this as the driver in the crash did not get 25% taken off .long story short got put threw to Beverly Powell who was rood .her attitude against me was bad this was 2 week ago so I left it but today I ring bk to sea if Beverly had received the insurance policy that I sent 3 times she sed she not received it.long story short her attitude again with me was we have taken the money there's nothing you can do to dispute it is asked you for the documents and you dint send it.wich I did so I replied why are you speaking to me like this your attitude is aporling I'm only trying to enquire about this 25% thing.beverly replied I'm bizzy and put the phone down on me .so I spoke to the manager eve she called .brilliant she was same as abbygail green they helped where help was needed. I hate ambulance chasers and solicitors appointed by insurance companies, and should have used a local firm instead. Avoid if you can.

My original post was 10 months ago and my accident over 13 months now. The driver of the other car was banned from driving for 6 months, received over 150 or 180hrs of community service plus a small fine. My injuries are on going to which i have received some physio and some treatment from a chiropractor.

My Carpenters case handler was absolutely useless so i was assigned a manager called David McGuire who is even more useless than his colleague before him. He never rushes to chase anything up. He takes days and days to respond to a simple email. Months i had to wait for a chiropractor and that's because i emailed him asking what the hell's happening. I've waited months for an MRI scan that he still hasn't sorted for me but tried to take credit for one that my own GP arranged. This guy is supposed to be a manager and has now told me i won't be getting any expenses for all the travelling i've done over the past 13 months or at least guarantee i will.

My ESA benefits have stopped due to me not attending medicals because of my accident and injuries as i refuse to drive the long 80+ mile round trip on my medication, i have severe pain and road rage now since my accident and have lost the love of driving, i just do shorter journeys if i need to.

Mr Magoo, McGuire say's the conviction of the other driver has no relevance on my case towards my injuries which i find appalling. Surely if someone is found guilty in a court of law of reckless driving and have admitted liability i should be getting all my expenses back on top of what ever the compensation amounts to?. I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG HERE BUT BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WASN'T MY FAULT.

Due to these long delays since my accident with the sluggishness and NEGLIGENCE of Mr. McGuire along with my injuries suffered and added stress lately i could find myself homeless soon. I have rang Carpenters twice today to make another complaint but twice told everyone is away from their desks, what a surprise.

Very disappointing, awful company service and attitude, My claims handler was Gemma who was rude and un-helpful when I had said that I was not happy with the physio company that was proposed by their agent. I then asked if can have someone else deal with my case for which she replied bluntly only if you have a valid reason why for which I had to tell her. I then asked to speak with a manager who was also rude and defending her colleges poor advice & level of respect for a customer. Her name was NIAMH so she said however I doubt it was a manager at all but more than likely the girl next to her acting as one.

After 5 years they have written to me in an attempt to have me pay them for their "time" as they have failed to gain any financial profit from my case. This is NOT a legal company they are CROOKS! I would give Carpenters as a whole 3 stars this is because my case was first dealt with by another member of staff that was not very helpful and did not answer emails or the telephone. If you ever want to call Carpenters you will rarely get an answer and it costs a fortune per minute.

I have been passed through three different solicitors in this time and none of them have been efficient enough to move the case on at a realistic pace. They still haven't put the claim to the third party after two and a half years.
I can go month's without any contact despite regularly emailing.
Would not recommend to anyone, you are better to go no win no fee !

Well where do we start with good old carpenters? (They're not even worthy of a capital C).

My case was passed to carpenters from Hastings car insurance, little did I know it would be almost 9 months of stress, worry and frustration dealing with these clowns.

You have to chase, chase, chase and chase some more just to get a basic update from them. There was a period of almost 3 months where I didn't hear a word.

I assume my initial handler left the company as when I hadn't had a reply to an e-mail, I got a reply 3 weeks later from another woman who informed me of the stage my case was at and that she had been assigned to it. No surprise that NOTHING had been done in regards to my medical report being disclosed although I have, in writing, apparent confirmation that this was done a month previous.

Don't ever bother ringing their office as this is a premium rate line and they won't answer it anyway. 20 mins was the longest time I had to wait for a call to be answered only to be told my handler was on annual leave. Obviously don't know how to use their out of office feature on their e-mail.

The fact they state on their website that Our focus is always on our staff, our clients and their customers, we re all about people (I suspect the only people they care about are their own) and Our quality service is measured and delivered against the highest industry standards is an absolute insult to my intelligence. It's actually rather amusing reading it as it's such drivel.

Please, whatever you do, don't bother with these jokers as they will consistently take the P. and charge you for the privilege.

The fact that my incident was no fault of my own and that I was effectively the victim in this scenario didn't seem to bother them much and not at ANY point did I get the impression that they cared about my case. They actually exude an air of "we couldn't care less" that stinks to high heaven. I'm surprised they actually publish their office address publicly, I imagine there to be thousands of disgruntled customers waiting to take the door off its hinges.

I did get my payout eventually and when it finally hit my bank, I was more excited at the fact that I then knew, I wouldn't have to deal with this bunch of amateurs any longer.

Cheers carpenters, if I never have to use you again it'll be too soon.

Husband has been dealing with this company for two years. Their lack of communication is abysmal. You have to constantly chase them up, emails are not answered, case passed on to Lindsey Fisher three weeks ago, phoned at least twice a week, phone rings and rings no answer. Constantly being passed on from expert to expert even though they all agree what is wrong, avoid using this company for any claim. They want to drag it out for months and months on end for the same answer they had months ago. I am not happy at all and they are causing my husband endless stress, am going to be taking advice from ombudsman for the way my husband has been treated as a client.
Follow up:
Had a phone call off person below who explained a few things. Asked me to change the review based on this, I replied that although he had explained a few things my issues with non communication still stand so I would edit it when they have proved themselves. Could not get hold of the solicitor on my case for two weeks befor Christmas, phoned yesterday low and behold she is not in the office and computers are down, phoned today to speak to someone who has informed she is off until mid January, reaching my two year mark dealing with this company, I am awaiting an experts response which very well she could have, hence why if she is not in the office the case should be passed onto someone else. Please be VERY aware when dealing with this company, I went with them as my insurance advised it, look elsewhere and do not put your trust in them. Two years dealing with them endless stress caused trying to get hold of them when I also am busy and have a job to do! You feel like they are working against you not with you, not what you expect from your own solicitors.

I was involved in a motorbike accident over 3 years ago and Carpenters, as my insurance lawyer group took care of my case. The start was quite slow, I had to resend the same documents a few times, the first lawyer was replaced by a second one, and the second one by another but I must say, Mr Phil Coggins did an excellent job, he sped everything up, kept me up to date, was thorough and answered any of my questions I had. I know some cases are difficult and there are a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled in, and for us - the customers - some things might seem uneccessary but the lawyers know exactly how to approach each case individually, they probably also have to deal with the client's frustration etc...
So overall I'm happy with Mr Coggins' approach and help I received. Always polite, helpful and professional. Thank you.

I've been waiting to settle an non fault car accident in April 2016, my claim has been dealt with by 4/5 different solicitors withing carpenters, trying to explain to them how stressful this is getting they don't seem to listen, I had to push to get my counselling as there was delays in sorting it, my sons claim has been settled and as judge order some of the money to my son (special educational needs), the judge ordered it to be paid within 21 days, 2 week after the 21 days still nothing, I have never dealt with such solicitors.

Finally my case is about to be settled after almost 19 months as the other party tried to argue every detail from the damage to my car to the injuries I received, despite admitting fault at the scene for reversing into me as I drove past.
What should have been a simple case dragged on & on through no fault of carpenters. It was so frustrating but that's just the way it is, these things take time.
My solicitor Naaiem was adorable, charming & exactly the right person to keep my spirits up when I contacted her to moan about what what was going on.
I'm sure the law firm will make 10 times what I will receive, but that's because I haven't spent years getting myself a law degree.
I'm happy with the service I received overall.

I have to say that this solicitors is the worst I have ever came across, open and shut case tbh, a lady drove into our passenger side on a mini roundabout and admitted responsibility straight away, carpenters were on it straight away, physio booked, courtesy car ready and payout for my partner and her car within 7 month, that's all great but then they had to deal with me, the passenger.

It's been 1yr this month and it's been hell, I've had 2 letters in a whole year, it took this company 3 months to get my medical records and a report from their medical professional, everytime I ring my case handler I get the feeling that she wants me off of the phone as soon as possible, I managed to get through last week and had some hope after she had said everything should be resolved by the end of the month, but no, now I need another x-ray before my claim can even be valued, oh and they need my physiotherapy records which will only add more months and months to my claim, bloody ridiculous considering other firms can do this whole claim process in a few months from accident to payout, please, please, please don't use this company for any legal needs, they are a joke.

I was approached by Carpenters in regards to a claim I had back in June 2016, I was given all the promises in the world on how my claim with be handled, how I would get a step by step update on the progress on my claim. But it was all lies as the customer I didn t have any idea who my claim handler was, I hadn t received any form of correspondence via post let alone a phone call from my claim handler.
