I was involved in an RTA in 2014 whereby I had 'right of way'. This resulted in a detrimental affect on my career and employment. This was dragged out and turned into quite a complicated case by the defence starting with; trying to absolve themselves of all blame through to involving various medical and financial experts eventually ending with them agreeing to settle. The Carpenters Team (Sean Bresnahan particularly) were helpful and kept me updated with all the information as it came in, and understood the strain that I was under at the time. They offered different courses of action I could take and explained the implications of them well.

I have worked in the legal profession on and off since 1987 and I have never dealt with such an incompetent firm of Solicitors. We were referred to them by our Insurance Co following a no fault accident and from the outset the service has been appalling. They never answer the phone, have no answerphone service (which they admitted not having following a complaint! ) and never response to emails. The only time I had a response was when I made the formal complaint and to top it all off they settled my claim WITHOUT my final authority and wasnt even advised a counter-offer had been made. This firm is truly shocking and there is no client care whatsoever. I had to tell them twice that I didn't suffer loss of earnings but they still tried to claim for which was quite rightly rejected and twice I was asked to send in receipts for out of pocket expenses which they already had. Total incompetence. I'm certain not to be the first to warn you all and after receiving their so called service know I won't be the last.

I was involved in a RTA after being hit from behind. I went with Carpenters via my insurer and have been perfectly happy with them. They kept me informed at all times and the communication was great. The other party offered a lower settlement and Carpenters quite rightly advised me to reject this plus a further 3 more offers till we all finally agreed on a settlement. I recommend this company and would gladly do business with them again.

Our case has taken about a year & a half to settle as complex. The case had changed claim handlers but this did not affect the service we received. James Lello our claims handler has been professional throughout, he has kept us up to date & discussed issues as they have arisen. We would recommend Carpenters as they have been transparent with our claim and that's does not happen often.

I would give no stars if i could. I have dealt with solicitors on various things in my life and without doubt this is the worst service I have even had! over 2 years for something so small..... poor communication.

By the way i dont believe the 5 stars responses below! On facebook they say they will get right back if i email them but every time i get nothing back. Not even a message with how they will proceed!!!

I was referred to Carpenters via my insurance company, Hastings after my car was hit whilst parked up. From day one, they we re really helpful and Chris kept me up to date throughout the whole process. Chris Kennedy is a credit to your organisation. I d have no hesitation in recommending Carpenters.

I had my accident back in June of last year and I have just received my settlement through.

My case handler Gemma was very helpful at the start of the process and at the end. I had to call once for an update but that's all.

You have to expect a good few months wait and obviously as my accident was not a high priority one I didn't mind that at all.

Overall I'm very happy with the service received and I wouldn't have any problems recommending Carpenters at all.

1. Communication:
I very nearly lost my case due to their negligence. Over the last two years, I have had to chase my own case up with them, and have had several advisors (6!) take my case.
Unfortunately, one of them I had to find out he had left through a reply email. This had an adverse effect on my case as nobody seemed to take responsibility.

2. Professionalism:
I was poorly advised on my witness statement on what to include. My advisor at the time told me to put the weather conditions and where I was travelling to. The judge laughed, and said what bearing does this have on the accident?
So true at the time, and I felt embarrassed.
However, it gets worse... the day of the judgement they changed my barrister, then the new barrister turned up 5 minutes before the hearing was about to commence; that left very little to no preparation time. Luckily, I prepared myself.

3. The incident:


To conclude, I wouldn t even give them a 1 star. I would NEVER use them again.

Service is absolutely appalling and exceptionally slow. My stationery car (not on the highway and with handbrake applied) was hit by another vehicle 30 months ago. Carpenters still insist l was at fault ! Evidence proving that l was not at fault has been ignored. Complaints procedure is a joke. Avoid this company at all costs.

Please avoid this company even if your insurance has directed you to them. They are the most incompetent people to call themselves solicitors I have ever come across. They say that they send you paperwork (none of which I have ever received) and according to them, as it is exactly 4 months from the accident I should be right as rain! They make you feel as though you are fraudulent, have no concerns over your welfare and suggest you pay for everything yourselves as it doesn't fit in with their crooked timeline. I will also be complaining to my insurance company for recommending this inept firm.

An awful solicitors have waited 9 WEEKS for a medical report and still nothing , no answers or communication from them and constantly being told here is the number chase them yourselves !
Had an accident 1 year ago left with permant damage to my face and still waiting ! Im absolutely gutted the car insurance made us use this company would have avoided them like the plague had i of known and read reviews before ! Carpenters Stop using medical doctors who are quite clearly not bothered about your clients health!

I opened my case Sept 2017, I was handed to Carpenters from my insurer Hastings Direct after a HGV collided with me on the M6. To begin the process was slow and it was difficult to reach my case handler. I had 3 different handlers before finally getting progress. This was a mild invoncenience but was made better by the service recieved from my final handler.

Once my case was handed over to Julie Adams I had a great experience. I found it difficult to communicate as I worked during opening hours and she was willing to communicate via email or through my father. Julie sped up the process of my claim and chased down every last detail of it. She gave a lot of detail in all conversations and made me feel much at ease. Overall my claim was a long process (16 months) due to treatment and other things but she ensured that once we were ready to go ahead, it happened swiftly.

The end result was better than expected and has made light of an awful accident with the final figure.

The treatment given through Carpenters was great and the medical professionals were all easy to reach. I was a commuting student, and due to no longer having a car I was living away from home to reduce the journey. Carpenters were able to provide me treatment closer to my Uni address which was extremely helpful.

Overall I am pleased my case was dealt with by Carpenters.

Put my claim in for whiplash on 04-02-2014 just got the check today. Wouldn't recommend every time you phone up you get transferred then goes to answer machine then you never get a call back after leaving details. I did get a good result at the end but would never use Carpenters again nor recommend this company!!! Lacks communication!

Can't complain. My first (RTA) and hopefully my last. I think Carpenters have handled my RTA claim well, especially having never done this before. Sometimes you have to just let them get on with it. My case lasted approx 18 months, Carpenters kept me informed by email and post, my claim handler also phoned with updates and advice, Ash was also very professional. You just have to wait and let all the parties involved thrash it out. Once my case was settled I was paid within a week. Would have loved more but wouldn't we all, I never let it get to me and never chased them to try and speed things up, no point stressing yourself over protocol you have no control over.
Overall a good service, never stressed me out anyway.

Never answer calls and are most unresponsive in regards spoke to the lady dealing with my claim she told me to wait 4/6 weeks for my settlement check then to be told after 6th week that the had sent a email request a form to be filled in the 3rd week but she had not seen this as the claims team had it... then waited a further 5 weeks to be told they are still chasing up am currently waiting do not recommend

Amazing service provided by Zoe Platt-Scarce, she has been brilliant every step of the way, made everything very clear to me and made sure I was aware of all my options, I had an accident roughly 6 months ago and they dealt with everything regarding physiotherapy, I got my settlement offer now and I consider this to be a very quick timeframe for these things to happen, thank you!

This firm Is a nightmare to deal with. The doctor got my report wrong and missed out most of my injuries and its been 3 months and I'm still waiting to get the report amended. Been through the complaints procedure and no luck been dealing with james McConville who does respond quiet quickly but by the way his been dealing with my complaint I don't think any body in the firm listens to him and now by the looks of thing I will have to go to the legal ombudsman. This firm was recommended by hastings that's why I went with them and I'm regretting it now as I should have gone with a local firm who would have sorted this out long time ago. I've told them to stop messing me around and if you can't deal with my case give my file and I'll go some where else but they say I'll have to pay for the pathetic service they have provided me with so far. I had a serious crash which I just want to put behind me and move on. Thanks for reading

Carpenters have been brilliant with their communication. And top notch with how they have handled the case.
I know they have had bad reviews But, they've always been there via email and telephone.

At the moment I'm awaiting my settlement. The other party seem reluctant to get it over the line and finished. Although settlement has been agreed..
Which, I'd like to add is no reflection on Carpenters or Natassja. It's just the process of when big companies owe money they drag their backsides, but if it was the other way around, they'd be chasing hard to recover their money.
Again Carpenters and Natassja, who if anyone is lucky to have her as their case handler can be assured that she will be excellent as have the whole company. 10/10

I'll update when the case is over but for the last two years I've had to fight for anything to be done. I've gone three months waiting for a response to an email before and have to send several emails over a matter of weeks any time I want a response. The woman handling my case is throughly disinterested and makes sure you know it. The person who was in the accident with me has been passed to four different case handlers so far and the latest one has just been vile on the phone.
There is a reason most of the reviews are one star. Avoid at all costs

Absolute disgrace, shambolic, appalling, unbelievable diabolical service avoid do not use carpenters law.

Had a vehicle accident August 2017, because of carpenters laws incompetence I had to have a second examination over a year later due to carpenters law instructing a doctor who was not registered with appropriate authorities to use as evidence for settlement. I had the second examination February 2019 at my expense and now we are in May and still no contact about my case.
Come on Carpenters law, pull your finger out and make contact please.

worst customer service ever. you should complain to the insurer that referred you to them. This will hopefully make insurers stop using them. completely useless. they never reply to calls or emails. this company has the worst google feedback I have ever seen. my own experience with them is a nightmare. these are supposedly solicitors and yet they run the firm like a bunch of amateurs without even basic customer skills. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. REFUSE TO USE THEM AND FIND YOUR OWN SOLICITOR. you are entitled to choose who represents you. do not expect your calls or emails to be returned.

Unfortunately, last November I had an accident of which was not my fault. I was very pleased with the professional and efficient manner in which Carpenters dealt with my claim. They managed to conclude my claim within 13 months and were prepared to go the distance to ensure my claim was settled fairly. I was particularly impressed with my case handler, Sally Harding, who stayed in communication with me throughout and ensured I was given the best advice. I would recommend this company without hesitation.

Writing on behalf of my mum who is extremely distressed by this company and the whole ordeal!! Involved in a car collision 4 years ago and the other party has admitted fault yet no settlement or compensation. Please TESCO stop referring your customers to this so called solicitor.

If only my mum knew or had the courage to speak up sooner ....4 YEARS and 3 solicitors (within Carpenters) later to date and still no resolution.
Mum has had to chase emails, send reports, make her own appointments and the list goes on... and nothing sorted. Are they con artists?? Starting to believe they are.

If this is ever to resolve, the thought of them of getting even a PENNY makes me feel livid!! They have done nothing except cause more grief.

Advice to anyone reading, make a complaint... and don't leave it thinking it will resolve because it wont!!

My insurance company has directed me to Carpenters for my personal injury claim. I have to report that my dealings with this Company have so far been first rate. I have just had over an hours telephone assessment with Rebecca R...... what a really helpful and knowledge person.
I have got to say my experience today is far removed from the majority of other postings on this site. I am not a naive person and I know personal injury claims can last many many months and in some cases years regardless of the Solicitors used.

Had an accident in January 2015 (yep 2015!) and still awaiting. It would seem that although they're employed, as it were, by me, they seem to do all they can to minimise costs of the other side. I had to hire myself a car after the accident, solicitor asked 3 times for the copies of the bills after they said never received (funny as I send read receipts on emails and all accepted), then after 22 months told can't claim for that. Incompetent or hopeless, not sure which, have given up all hope now of ever seeing any compensation. In terms of service awful and won't recommend. I have now given up chasing them and just writing off the money the accident cost me, as don't feel I'm ever going to get an answer. Wouldn't waste your time or energy on this lot, complaining t my insurance company as they recommended Carpenters.

Firstly I had an accident in March 2016 and was referred to Carpenters by my insurance company. Initially things seemed to be going smoothly i.e. I was contacted very quickly and assessments were arranged in a timely manner. However there seem to a major issues with communication. Up untill now my contact with my solicitor has been almost non existent. I was constantly calling and getting no response. Emails were not being responded to. I have called on numerous occasions and been put on hold for periods of 15 minutes or more and each time, got fed up ending the call on my end. I really do not feel I have been given the level of professional service my case required. Not happy and feeling worried about the outcome of my case as it is difficult to get in contact with my solicitor.

Worst customer service & pretty poor at doing their job. It s been 8 MONTHS and I have heard next to nothing from them. I was injured in an accident that wasn t my fault and the police report even states this. They told me to call back in TWO WEEKS as they cannot help me.

AVOID THEM! I'm very disappointed in this company. They like to bill everyone but don't like to do their jobs. I received a bill after years of no communication on their part. THEY LIKE TO PASS YOU AROUND TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE ASKING FOR THE SAME INFORMATION. They claim there was no communication on my part for a while so they dropped the case which was a lie. I'm going to hire another attorney and sue them. Hopefully they get closed down. They're crooks. They're practicing malpractice. They know they haven't sent me any forms of communication. They're trying to find a way to get out of handling the case because there wasn't a profit for them. They're liars.

My experience with Carpenters was perfectly fine! It was a long process but that was down to the other party and I didn't expect things to be done overnight. I was kept well informed via post, telephone and email - even when my advisor had left they sent me a letter to tell me who had taken over my case and who I needed to contact.

The only thing I didn't like was that the contact number is 0844/0845 which is annoying when you only have a mobile. However a bit of digging online and I was able to find a landline number so all good!

Hannah Smith was absolutely amazing. When I was assigned Carpenters Solicitors I agreed for them to take on my case. A little later I decided to Google them and I was a little worried after reading some poor reviews. But it just goes to show not to believe everything you read. Hannah Smith was the girl assigned to my claim. From start to finish she was absolutely fantastic. She kept in touch with me to keep me updated. She reassured me at times when I was worried. She sent me to physio and made sure I had the best of everything. I would absolutely recommend her. I have just received my 100% of my compensation. Thanks again Hannah Smith I'm absolute delighted. After being knocked off my Motorbike, I received severe tissue damage to my knees, it took Carpenters two years to come up with the minimum payout required. There was minimal or no communication for most of this time, and the one time I rang them to confirm they had received emails and photo's I had sent, a young lady there went into a rant about how " These things take time ", all that was required was a yes or no answer, not a ten minute rant. For a 25% fee, I would have expected more, I accepted the offer as, after two years, I just wanted closure, as it was made clear I would not receive a better offer, my wife actually got double my payout for a small graze on her side, after just a couple of months, for these reasons I would not recommend Carpenters.

Not even worth 1 star the service I'm getting, we'll actually not getting is absolutely diabolical my case has been going on over 12 months told me to accept liability I said no way, they hadn't even read the engineers report. Case went to county court this company registered the papers late now I have a CCJ due to the total incompetence of this firm. You phone them all times of the day they never answer. Looks like I'm going to have to use a solicitor to sue a solicitor....DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Totally, completely, useless, waste of money, incompetent.

very poor company. instructed by my insurance to deal with my claim, the amount of pressure put on me to accept half liability so in their words 'they could still claw back some of the money' was unbelievable enough though they reviewed the matter and were unable to tell me what i had done wrong to accept any liability. Dont touch them with a bargepole, they do nothing for their fee. Absolutely awful service. I've had to chase them repeatedly for information for a car accident claim which has been going on for almost a year now. They appear to be more concerned with saving money for the 3rd party insurers rather than fighting our claim. Their idea of negotiating on my behalf is to accept the lowest offer made by the 3rd party insurers. Carpenter's have actually lost us money, due to their incompetence.
I've since found that my insurers "Highway Insurance" are the same insurers as the guy who crashed into us, so it seems that the legal team authorised by Highway is trying to save them money by reducing our claim. I would have been better off going to one of the TV claim specialists like Lawyers for You.
After a phone call from Carpenters customer relations department and a lengthy chat with James, I have decided to amend my review from 1 star to 3 stars.
James was very good at his job and did go a long way to explaining some of the difficulties that I have encountered. I still feel that communication could have been a lot better than it was and I also feel that the team that dealt with my claim could have been more proactive in helping us to navigate a better settlement.
If things had been been handled better from the start then it wouldn't have depended on James to try and restore faith in the company. Well done James.

i was involved in an accident september 2017 i had dash cam footage the third party admitted liability straight away ive had about five solicitors who dont get intouch with me my last one has now gone on a training course after being on my case for about a month i have had an email from hastings saying my case has been closed and they have been paid so i got in touch with my solicitors who put me through to the cost department who have told me my payment was authorised by the third party but has gone missing this paymeny really needs to be found and paid into my account as it seems very strange to just go missing im not best pleased with the whole process i dont want to be taking legal action .

If you want to be messed around, not cared about and replied to rudely, Carpenters is your place! Not only will they have Doctors that write your medical reports written about you in someone elses name and referred to in incorrect pronouns, you can also look forward to a long delay in them answering emails and just about more stress as the original accident caused. Strongly don't recommend.

Carpenters contacted me through my insurance company. After they realised I was not injured they said they would keep me on file "just in case". Despite the other driver giving false details my claim was settled as not at fault. Six weeks later Carpenters ring me at home and tell me that the other driver has now claimed they were injured in the accident and was making a claim against their own insurance. when I questioned this with the caller and explained that they were uninsured and I'd moved heaven and earth to get the other drivers details. Carpenters replied that's not good and hung up.I have checked with my insurance company and the other driver has not made any such claim and has vanished Clearly an awful attempt to get me into a knee jerk reaction that I must make a counter claim. Shocking way to go about your business!!

Was told to use this company by my insurance company after having a RTA, at first they couldn't help enough was constantly kept in the loop and up to date with me claim. HOWEVER since I accepted an offer I have not heard a single thing! I have sent 4 emails to the solicitor who was dealing with my claim simply asking for an update this has been going on since February and not once has she or anyone else come back to me! From looking at the previous reviews I can see this is a regular thing for this company to do. My solicitor also tried pushing me into rejecting the claim and was not impressed when I accepted my offer, I just wanted the stress and time to be limited but turns out it has been just as long, will never use carpenters services again it's seems they do all they can to get your business then once they do they ignore you and avoid you! Have also tried calling my solicits direct line but as you can guess no answer and non from th switchboard either, so I am still waiting for my settlement months after settling... No doubt the solicitors have received their fee though!!!!!!!

We would never recommend you to anyone. My 21yr old daughter was involved in an accident in July of this year, and at first the claim appeared to be dealt with very quickly. she was given an offer within weeks, and she excepted the offer as she has been paying for treatment for her back and shoulder which she had to borrow from a family member as she is a full time student. That was made well over a month ago and every time she try's to contact carpenters they just ignore her and this is costing her money to contact them. ITS DISGUSTING!!

They are best i have ever come across. I had this lovely legal adviser called miss Hignett and words cannot describe how lovely and supportive she is. she really helped me through every single steps until won a car accident court case. she got me a brilliant barrister called Kevin who knew his job very well and represented me in the court. At the court he was very eloquent and concise. A very superb barrister indeed.

Finally got an All-Star service! I was in a non-fault car accident in January 2015 which is still ongoing. I was referred by Hastings Direct to Carpenters and I was happy with my initial contact. However, over time I was moved hands a few times and no one seemed to care. But then, Katherine takes on my case and everything got a whole lot better! She is understanding, efficient and proactive. I cannot sing her praises enough, but unfortunately she is off to study at Uni so will be dropping to part-time so my case will be moved to other hands - this makes me nervous based on my previous experience. As the light at the end of the tunnel on my case draws nearer I am gutted to lose her at such an important time and hope Carpenters can provide the same level of service Katherine has. I do hope to review again when my case is closed, but so far, I would say Carpenters is a bit hit and miss, but when they hit, they got it right hiring Katherine :o)

Brilliant company. Had a very scary car crash on the 8th september where a driver went onto our side of the road and hit us head on. I sufford severe whiplash and my husband had terrible brusing and a broken wrist but are greatful we didnt suffer any serious injurys. After the crash Hastings refered us to carpenters and they where so reassuring and completely on our side, our case handler anisa was superb and dealt with our claim amazingly and was very patient with all my emails calls and questions. My claim was settled and i recieved my compensation today only 5 months after the crash which is very fast. Brilliant company and thank you again to all of you.

My insurance put me through to Carpenters when I had my crash in the beginning of May (Third party ran a red light and written my car off)

I m just really annoyed and frustrated at the fact I went through something traumatic and just want all this to be over hence why I just accepted it even though I wasn t happy and it is just getting dragged on unnecessarily. For the service I m receiving, I feel it is very cheeky of them to be taking 25% of the money that could have helped me get a new car, I will be taking this further.

From the first phone call i knew i would be in good hands and i was.Each time i had a query my phone call was answered by the same person.The advice given was always taken and this resolve ended in a good end. Would highly recomend Carpenters solicitors for any legal wrangle.

Shambolic set of affairs. Non fault accident on 10/06/2016, and it's taken this long to complete the process. Emily Harvey, my case handler was a true credit to amateurism, but it's only backed up by the infinite list of cock ups that I had to deal with as part of my liaisons with this firm.
The amount of times I received duplicated documents, references to enclosures that didn't exist and had to chase the incredibly poor Emily Harvey for basic updates I cannot count. Feel free to respond to your clients (even if it's a forced relationship), it's kind of essential...but hey, you'll still get paid Carpenters, through some old corporate contract from a motor insurer that's long overdue a shakeup.
