It was going well but our salesperson ended up being really rude. We were going to a couple of dealerships to get a feel of the hybrids (such as the Prius). But as soon as we mentioned not buying anything (yet) and other car brands, the salesperson's hospitality plummeted. I suppose the entire team shouldn't be condemned for one's behavior, but it sure doesn't make the place any more friendlier.

Even I had frustrating experience while leasing a vehicle at this dealership. After 2 to 3 hours of negotiation I end up committing to an expensive deal. Currently I am trying to connect with Toni to get concern resolved. She did not yet responded to my single email though.

Meanwhile, heads up for the "First Time Buyers!!!
Please do not hurry to commit on deals or buy the cars, I know we get excited to buy our first car, instead regretting later just get understanding of each cost parameters you are paying. Do your homework, take help from your friends who already have leased a vehicle that will help you understand more about various things such as Disposition fees, GAP insurance, negotiation on MSRP etc.
Do not think that it is over when you are done with negotiation with salesman, please also spend enough time in verifying the cost details, while actual paperwork is being done, before signing the documents.

If I am not getting my concern resolved, I will share my story in details so that other "First time buyers" will not go through the pain that I am going through now.

The staff for service/maintenance seemed nice..friendly and willing help. But bringing my car for maintenance took forever. Didn't seem like they were that busy. It's odd that you go into these portable structures where they bring the customer in to get their vehicle processed and then you go to an actual building to make your payment. Not just that, I decided to wait in their main building thinking that it would take perhaps an hour and a half, but ended up waiting for three hours. I only went there for a battery replacement and to get the right blinker fixed. It took them about two hours for them to just let me know that that's the work they'll be doing on my car and another hour to actually do the work. While waiting, I was overhearing some of the sales staff horsing around. I'm all for having fun at the work place, but when dealing w customers, should try to keep it somewhat professional. I had called ahead to see when I'd be able to bring my car in, and the person just says "yeah, we can take you in" but couldn't tell me how many vehicles there are already (a lot or a few) or if it would take a long time. Next time I'll just bring my car in to Fremont toyota. Whether you have an appointment or not, they'll let know approx how long it might take. My point is, try not to bring your car here.

I bought my car here with a really good price in 2019, but car maintenance service here are sub par. My tire pressure indicator signal was constantly on after my last service, went through multiple shop to make sure tire pressure is correct. Wanted to schedule a time to fix this issue, but was told they don't take appointments at all. I just don't want to wait another whole day for a simple service. Will find another place for car maintenance.

RICK just saved the day. I was working with my brother's 06 Tundra....his car wouldn't start and he was coming back to town from a trip and headed to southern california immediately. Before he left town he couldn't get it to start either. Over the phone Rick walked me through a diagnostic based on the year of the truck and by listening to the beeps....he discovered that the alarm was activated and needed deactivation before car would start. When I followed his tutorial it turned right over. All of this took less than 5 minutes. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and he did it patiently and graciously. I saved a AAA call, a trip to dealer, a bill and lots of time.

Thank you Rick....best part of my day!!

Routine Service APPOINTMENT was at 9am, and informed I won t get my car back till the FOLLOWING day before 5:30pm!!! After expressing some concern and frustration, I was informed I will get my car before 5:30 today (since I had made an appointment). However, time means nothing there. No car all day, almost all weekend, which means no task accomplished for the day. There s no systematic way of there to lines for ppl with appointments and those who are walk-ins.
I have been with Toyota for 15+ years, but in a different state, and never experienced this unorganized mess. I understand Cali is much bigger, but there s got to be a much more organized way to provide a little more accurate time frame than 2 whole days for a regular service!

I recently bought a car from this dealer with the help of Ryan McCune. It was my second time buying a car from him with different dealers each time. He was very helpful, nice, straightforward, and most importantly, honest. He's not the type that makes you bargain for the best deal because the deal that he gives IS already the best. He will make the whole car buying process so easy that you can feel a little weird/startled at first, but once you've placed your trust in him, you can fully relax and be content with your purchase. He will also take the time to explain the features of the car for you and even give helpful tips on how to maintain it. I HIGHLY recommend Ryan and will refer him to all of my friends, family, relatives, co-workers, etc. Hope he will still be with Toyota the next time I need to purchase another car! Thank you so so much, Ryan!!

Worst place to bring ur car , bad service, bad area , bad accomodation. Tried it again had my forerunner 2010 inspected and you guys told me that I need a new strut and shocks , battery, and valve covers which is worth $2500 I asked for a second opinion and turns our I dont need a new shocks and struts it's just the stab link which is under 50 valve covers cost only $31 battery has a warranty of 7 years and it's only 3 years had it tested nothing is wrong with it! I swear u guys are all just profit and no concern whatsoever for ur clients. I will never come back.again with this dealer. That is my honest opinion. Word of advice asked or shop around b4 believing what these guys are saying about ur vehicle.

They called me for a recall of my car. The person who attended to me, I think his name is Jose Villa, created that I had a bad day because I treated myself without courtesy, nothing nice as I was going to buy a car because I treated myself like that. He thought his job is not for Customer Service.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. There is one manager by the name of Chris. He was very rude to me. For a religious reason, I couldn't buy the car on a specific date. He told me that either get the car tomorrow or the deal is off. He has no respect for any religion. ON top of that, he shows his tantrums and anger on the customer. He shouldn't be in the sales department. However it may be, there was a salesperson by the name of James who was very nice to us. He gave us excellent customer service while Chris was soooo rude that he yelled at me and James!!!!! Never COME HERE! CHRIS SHOULD BE FIRED!!!

We went to Capital toyota on a confirmation they have Rav4 Hybrid Xle. We arrived and was met with a salesman. He said they sold the last one the night before. Never went to check. The contacted staff who confirmed our appointment didn't let us know. He knew we were from out of town with 3 hours of driving time. We checked their site and it still shows they have 4 Rav4 hybrid xle. DO NOT DRIVE THERE IF YOU ARE OUT OF TOWN. Luckily, there are other dealers nearby, which we purchased our Rav4 hybrid xle.

Ron S.--March 25, 2010

I was in Mountain View for 3 days and my 2009 Sienna was in need of 10K service. I called late one day to schedule the car for the next day. I was told to bring it in at 7:00am and it would be out in one and one half hours. I was there at 7:00 and dealt with Theresa Dimaggio who was a knowlegeable and efficient service advisor. And true to their word my vehicle was ready to go at 8:15. The oil/filter change , tire rotation, wiper blade replacement, 27 point inspection and exterior wash were completed to my satisfaction and at a competitive price. Even though I live hours away I will schedule service at Capitol when I am in the San Jose area. The worst part of the experience was the rush hour traffic when driving from San Jose to Mountain View.

I can still remember the days when I dreaded ever ...

I can still remember the days when I dreaded ever having to go to a dealership to buy a car. I still have memories of what I felt to be dishonesty, harassment, ploys to get me to stay longer to wear me out to purchase. This was not the case at all at Capitol Toyota. In fact my whole experience was very pleasant, efficient and fast.

Jimmy Lee, our sales representative was patient with us even after giving him 4-5 different types of cars we were interested in. We finally settled on a Camry SE and asked him for a quote online. We went in and looked at the car in various colors and interiors and changed the color from the original option we asked for. I asked if the car in stock would be the same price he quoted me online (I've had a bad experience before when this was not the case), and was worried he would come back with a higher price for multiple different reasons but his answer was "of course it's the same price." He was just also a super friendly, credible guy who knew the cars and was there not to push us on anything, but to educate us to make the right decision. I guess that's why he's still working there after 17 years - he's great at his job. :)

We were sent over to finance and again I'm used to the hard sell here as well, where the finance folks try to sell you on every singly warranty, sealant, option package you could think of and then make you feel horrible and irresponsible if you don't want any of it. Again not the case. Our finance lead was efficient, told us about the great 10year warranty, but basically said "here's a brochure if you want to read up more on it" and let us be.

Overall I just felt as though the whole dealership cared about customer satisfaction above and beyond anything else. I couldn't believe how nice and efficient everyone was. I actually came away extremely happy that I bought a car, not exhausted and feeling like I just survived a war. Capitol Toyota, you definitely have earned my business!

Called yesterday to try and get my oil change, was told that they were very busy and my vehicle would not be done by the end of the day, i asked about obtaining a loaner/courtesy car, the lady i spoke with said they did not lend out loaner cars and that there was a charge of $35/day if i needed to borrow a vehicle. I told her that i called they week prior and was told it would not be a problem, and never did they mention it was 35/day. She than passed the phone to some rude jerk who pretty much told me that they have never lent out loaner cars for free and that no other Toyota did either. He also sarcastically let me know that Lexus did lend out loaner/courtesy cars free of charge, i told him if i could afford to buy a Lexus, i would not have bought a Toyota. I than hung up on him and even though i bought my car there and the location is convenient to get my care serviced, never again will i step foot at Capitol Toyota. I regret not looking at these reviews before deciding to purchase my vehicle here. i rather go out of my way to Gilroy or any other location for my services. Thank you CAPITOL TOYOTA for making a great impression. Management should really consider having their employees take a class on customer service, it is DEFINITELY NEEDED.

Bought a car from Jimmy Lee yesterday. Jimmy showed me all the numbers: dealer's invoice, discounts, etc. He didn't try to sell me anything beyond what I wanted. In three words: honest, efficient and accommodating. He drove me half a mile to a car lot carrying multiple keys so I could pick the car with the least mileage to buy.

I went to Capitol Toyota on 6/28. If you are looking for a new vehicle, I would not recommend going to Toyota until they drastically improve their safety practices. Employees were not wearing their masks over their noses, were not wearing masks when only communicating with each other, and would take their masks off when walking around the store by themselves. It was extremely concerning how little the staff at Capitol Toyota seemed to care about the safety precautions they are supposed to be following.

Poor approach to buying a Certified car. I was all...

Poor approach to buying a Certified car. I was all excited to see and test drive a Pre-Certified Toyota. A young salesman who I had an appt. with, decided to put me with a young sales girl. Really? The sales girl said I could not look on the lot and that I had to sit down and study a white sheet of paper that had a print-out of cars available. 2 sheets of paper with small writing with no pictures. I didn't know if I wanted a LE or an SE. Why couldn't I test drive each first? Thats the exciting part of picking out a car. So, I stare, and stare at a boring sheet of paper and pick out a XSE. It's in the same color as the car I've had for 15 yrs, BORING! I got in the XSE and really liked how it drove. My son texted me and said they have the same car up at the Toyota dealership in Concord for $4,000 less. She was not willing to negotiate or give any figures to her sales mgr. Deal closed and basically she was done with me. She offered no other choices, no other cars for me to look at and I basically was ushered out the door. 2 days later, I bought a Camry XLE at Santa Cruz Toyota. I'm SO HAPPY! It was the same price as the XSE up in Concord, fully loaded. The Santa Cruz Toyota salesman had me in 2 cars test driving immediately upon my arrival. After I decided which car I wanted, he then put me with his sales mgr and we made the deal. It was a solid deal. I got a different color and ALL leather gray seats. Don't believe if Capital Toyota tells you that you have to pay $2,000 for ALL leather seats due to the fact they don't have it in their inventory. Go to Santa Cruz Toyota for the largest selection of ALL Leather seats of your choice! They cater to what their customers want and have many on hand. They sold 26 cars on Dec. 29th and that says, a lot!!! Best customer service I've ever had when it comes to buying cars and meeting my needs at the price I can afford. SANTA CRUZ TOYOTA IS EXCELLENT!!! I even got a 5 yr bumper to bumper warranty for an extra $18.00 per month. You cannot beat Santa Cruz Toyota in Customer Service and their kindness. They will take the time, walk the lot with you, and insist on test driving cars. I highly recommend Santa Cruz Toyota!

Worst dealership ever to purchase a used vehicle , the service was terrible , after test driving my car and as soon as I drove off the lot the next day brakes began to squeak I didn't drive the car anymore and I went back to the dealership to advise them
Of the problem my sales rep grabbed my keys drove my car and clearly noticed the problem with the brakes his response was.... " to drive the car more aggressive brake hard for a few days then that will heat up the pads and the rust will go away" myself or my family or any of my friends won't be returning or making purchases at this location ever again as much as I love Toyota this dealserhsip lacks service really bad and they also take advantage of you if you don't know what your getting in to once your so and so "approved" they didn't even take care of the problem so at the end I was sick with a used "certified" vehicle which needed new tires..... and now new brakes ..... completely

Horrible customer service. I took my car for regular maintenance, under the warranty. First I had to wait in a long line for close to 98 minutes to just see a service rep. Then I was told not to expect my car for 3 more hours. By the time I got my car back, it was 7.5 hours later. Horrible, horrifying customer service. This should be a crime. There should be laws against these lies.

Leo was a fantastic service advisor: very personable and helpful. I can't say the actual work done was any different from other Toyota locations, but I would go back because of Leo. Their service is competent most of the time, but I had a terrible customer service experience: I made an appointment for 8 am, got there at 7.50 am, had to wait in line on the street for a good 20 mins before even getting acknowledged with a service ticket number. Still waiting in line, the guy managing the line lets people behind me in opening lanes, all the while I am waiting. By 9 am, 1 hour after my scheduled appointment I finally make it onto the lot still many cars ahead of me. In the meantime other folks with higher numbers long passed me as I was standing in a slow moving lane.

The point of an making an appointment is that I get a time slot to show up and receive customer service. I really can't afford to wait more then an hour and get service after people who came in later or did not even have an appointment. Needless to say, I cut my losses and drove off the lot.

SERVICE DEPARTMENT:

SERVICE DEPARTMENT:

I have been taking my 4 Runner for service since I purchased in September 2007. I have been very happy with the service since last Thursday, March 20, 2014. I came in here noon time around 1:00PM-1:30PM to get my car checked because Tire Pressure Monitoring sensor was telling me that my tires was soft. I explained the problem to Technician and they were so LAZY to ACTUALLY check what was wrong with my tire. All they did was inflate it instead of making sure there was nothing wrong with it. I knew they only inflated the tire because it only took them 10 minutes to "fix" it and they didn't issue me ORDER #. if they actually checked the problem, the time would have been longer. Not even 24 hour later the Tire Sensor showed up again. Had to use my husband car to go to work. So went back Saturday with the same problem I told to technician my situation and told me I had to pay $135.00 JUST TO GET MY SENSOR CHECKED, not the tire and guess what? turns out there was a NAIL stuck in my tire! If the sensor is telling me that theres something wrong with my tire then shouldn't you FIX THE TIRE and NOT THE SENSOR? These people are lazy and all they care is money. Customer service has gone downhill which is why I am giving this place a ONE STAR. Called the Manager and told me to come there and point out the guy who worked on my car as a proof that I was there last Thursday, March 20,2014 since the Technician Didn't or just lazy to give me order receipt. WHY should I drive there just to point out the guy when there's Security Cameras to verify that I was really there. I will not risk my safety.

Overall people really need to start doing their jobs right because they just lost a GOOD CUSTOMER.

Went here to fix a recall issue. One complaint about the service area is there doesn't seem to be attention paid to the order of which customers arrive. There are 3-4 lanes for cars to pull up. I suggest you just pull to the foremost position regardless of which lane and you'll be helped first. I watched several folks arrive after me but get helped first. It's not a huge deal but to spend 20 min sitting alone in a car, there's not much else do to but notice the problem.
Greeters, you put # tags on the cars, maybe use them to track order?

March 31, 2017, my 2010 Prius broke down on I-75 as I was driving from Atlanta, GA to Lexngton, KY. I had my car towed to Capitol Toyota. The day before, I had picked it up from a Toyota dealer in Atlanta, where a water pump had been replaced. I left my car at Capitol and rented a car for my trip to KY. It appeared that again the water pump was bad. But the mechanic at Capitol was able to figure out that the problem was actually the computer and not the water pump. (If the mechanic in Atlanta had figured out that, I would not have spent almost $800 unnecessarily on a water pump and my car would not have broken down on that trip.) I picked up my Prius on my trip back home. The computer was under warranty and was replaced with no cost to me. James McGuffee was my service advisor. He was very kind, competent and helpful. I am very grateful for him and the excellent service I received at Capitol Toyota.

Why did I have to hear Toyota get so butt hurt that my mom brought in a consumer car rating report that they threatened to arrest her. She was just sitting nicely in the lobby waiting for a salesman when the manager began to harass her about her reading choice. They need to take a page from the Japanese in hospitality. The good news is that they left and bought a Subaru. I think I'm done with Toyota. Too bad a poorly cultured franchise of Toyota has destroyed our brand loyalty.

its not only Toyota. i have VW Passat and Toyota Sienna and i have problem with both of these dealers on Capitol Express Way. they are born liars. this is part of their training or they are naturally like that. two places i hate to go, one is car dealership and other is cell phone shop. they throw all kind of crap at you when selling and later either you don't find them or they don't know you. problem is there is no alternate. what other choices do i have when it comes to service my Toyota..?? everyone is complaining but no one gives an alternate on closer service station. last time i took my VW to Newark, VW and had best service of my life. it is far but at least i have peace of mind that no one is stealing my money, someone i can trust.

I went in for a check engine light. I was idling my car in the checkin area but no one would come and talk. After waiting for 5mins, I decided to go in. I m inside and no one cares(most counters are empty yet having heavy personal conversations). I decided to walk up meet Mario who told me to drive bit front and someone would see me.

Start my car and drive 10 feet, the wait game starts again. Later Mario came and told me about their charge first cover warranty later(I guess this is Toyota wide policy) rule.

The car was at dealer for 7hrs then I got a call about the diagnosis. They didn t have o2 sensor and car would not be ready till end of next day. Next day the car was ready by 3pm. My wife goes there and signs paper. Then the waiting game begins again, my wife was waiting for the car to be handed over for 40minutes. The service was done but somehow Mario didn t get the notice, no one care to come and help her. Mind you she was with a 18month old baby. Eventually one guy was like you ve been waiting for long could I help you? That s when they realized their screw up.

No car wash, or vacuum: car had shoe marks and dirt all over.

Worst experience in my life. I d never forget. Thank you Capitol Toyota.

PSA: Capitol Toyota takes advantage of manufacture...

PSA: Capitol Toyota takes advantage of manufacturer recall work customers!

My s/o took her vehicle in for a registration blocking recall and received a call a few hours later from Debbie Vasquez, her service advisor. Debbie said the vehicle inspection yielded a few items of note that needed some attention. She proceeded to rattle off a list services that came to a total of $514.38...including a $149.95 cabin air filter, and $299 for cleaning the air flow sensor and throttle body. Obviously this is ridiculous as the car was not exhibiting any symptoms indicating this cleaning needed to be performed i.e. rough idle, in fact the free inspection offered by the service center doesn't even include inspecting the sensor/throttle body. The vehicle manufacturer doesn't recommend the service in the manual so I'm left wondering why Debbie recommended this service in the first place.

I called Debbie insisted she was not taking advantage of her customer, who authorized the $299 sensor/throttle body cleaning because the dealership she bought the car from recommended it for no good reason.

I was promised a call from the shop manager Vinnie, but he hasn't reached out to me yet, so perhaps he sees my point and wants to avoid the uncomfortable conversation.

I strongly caution anyone against bringing your car to this predatory service center, even for "free of charge" recall work. It's disheartening that a shop representing a national and local brand (Toyota and DGDG) is allowed to do business like this. I'll be reaching out to representatives of both.

The Dealership Employees were Nice and Productive, also there were a pretty Big and Clean Selection of Vehicles to choose from. But the amount of Waiting and Down-Payment Pricing was quite Questionable. We found a 2018 Corolla for around $25,000 and we wanted a Down of $5000 up front and $250 per month but it sounds like they want $350 or $450 a month and my dad doesn't want to go any higher than $350. Also we got there at 8:15 pm and stayed beyond 12:00 so "Lets Go Places!" More like "Let's Stay Put!!!" I'll at least give 3 stars until further notice.

I called the Toyota parts department to look for an adapter for my rearview mirror. The parts department representative was not very friendly over the phone. The part is shared between multiple cars from multiple manufacturers because it s for a Toyota GT86, a Scion FRS, a Subaru BRZ, and the Subaru WRX. He looked up the part number which was fine, and I was informed that he didn t have that part or didn t know what that part was. I gave them a description of the part I was looking for which I m fairly certain he didn t look up at all. He proceeded to tell me that he didn t know what I was looking for and that he probably didn t have it. If you re looking for a part for your car that is shared between multiple manufacturers, this is the last place I would contact. In fact I d rather pay more by buying it online and paying for shipping.

I drove an hour to this dealership to test drive a truck. After some negotiation, the car salesman and I agreed on a deal. The manager then came out, however, and told me that the agreed upon deal would not be honored, and that the salesman that I had been dealing with was "just trying to get a commitment out of me". I left the lot angry, and will not do business with these people. This type of behavior epitomizes the sterotype of a used car salesman.

Great Customer service. I called the day before because my car has a recall on it and I couldn't renew my tag until they fixed the problem, they took my car in and was fixed in a couple of hours.

To the Toyota driver looking for a good service center consider someplace different. Here is my story:

I schedule service for my tuck due to a recall notice for the seatbelt. After reading the reviews I was hesitant. Nonetheless, I called scheduled the simple service with James the Assistant Service Manager.

After picking the truck up I inspected the seat-belts and the right door belt was installed backwards. I found James and he pulled the truck back in the shop and fixed it right away. Its dark then and as he is pulling the truck out of the shop I see the right head light is out which they offer to fix. However, after messing up such a basic two bolt seatbelt install and failing to inform me of the broken burn out bulb after doing a the initial vehicle inspection I lost all trust in the shop to do even basic service.

Sadly, I can not recommend Capitol Toyota to anyone given the lack of basic attention to detail by both Management and the mechanics.
