I recently had my 2012 Jeep Patriot in your shop to get the manual transmission replaced. It took a little longer than expected to finish, and I was grateful that your staff offered me a rental to offset the long wait.
When I finally did get my jeep back, February 5th, I started it up and the check engine light came on. I then had to go get back in line at your service desk(s) to wait and talk to the man who checked me out (Zack?). About 10 minutes later, he followed me out with his maintenance reader to see what the issue was. He found the code was an O2 sensor, and that he did not think the transmission replacement had anything to do with an O2 sensor. All his mechanics had gone home and I would have to make another appointment for more diagnostics. Since I had no other means to get home, I had no choice but to take my jeep.
The next day, I made an appointment. I told the lady what had transpired (see above), she treated it like any other service request and gave me an appointment on February 13th. After I made the appointment I decided to pop the hood to see the work that was done. It was at that point I saw a hose that was not connected to my air filter while putting that hose on, I noticed a white connector that didn't have whatever was supposed to be in it connected. I looked it up online and this is the connector to the O2 sensor. I found that the O2 sensor at the Catalytic Converter was not plugged in, the connector had actually MELTED to the side of the Catalytic Converter. I pried it off, it still fit on the other connector so I plugged it in.
Guess what, no more check engine light, and my jeep is idling smoother?
I guess what I'm getting at is I paid over a thousand dollars in labor, they didn't finish the job. Your staff shrugged me off and offered no help. And I fixed the issue myself. I want to know why it went that way.
****UPDATE***
I was contacted by Westhill Chrysler Jeep and they brought my vehicle back in to ensure everything was correct and replaced my O2 Sensor. And were very eager to make it right, which they did. Thank you West Hills.
