Interim museums, with staff reciting, in period clothes, the story sadly turned.
I was excited to visit the museum, well maintained and really interesting.
Adjacent caves are also part of the tour.

Grazie per questa eccellente esperienza.

Absolutely amazing day out, the museum staff really brought everything to life. My daughters and their friend loved the trial reenactment and really enjoyed the chance to join in. The actor were really knowledgeable and hilarious too. Would highly recommend this place to families. Easily the most entertaining museum we've been to.

We enjoyed our visit but would have liked it even more if the leading actor had played things straight rather than pantomime. Both in the Hanging scene and the Courtroom scene he was far too over the top. Pity, spoiled a very interesting day.

This place is awesome, been now once with university friends and again with my family. I highly recommend going when a mock trial is taking place as these are very entertaining. Also members of staff are present in period costume throughout the building. A very interesting and historical place

I was pleasantly surprised by this location. It's much bigger than I expected and the casual nature of the location allowing you to wander to and fro all the areas and exhibits at your leisure really made it an enjoyable and relaxed visit.

The live action performances of court cases and executions added an exciting bit of theatre.

Really enjoyed it here and wished I had more time to explore! I visited on a weekday which meant it was quiet too. It's a shame they don't do the 'return within 12 months' ticket as some other attractions do. The actors were good, which must be hard on the quieter days when it's virtually one on one. Great stuff.

A great day out in this interesting museum. We thoroughly enjoyed the "trial" that we attended. The guide was a passionate and interested story teller and I'm only sorry we didn't follow him on to other tours as he was "doing a hanging" too. We opted for the longer "tales and legends" tour and it was led by a sadly lackluster young guide who didn't have much knowledge to impart and a very annoying way of speaking too. However dont be put off..it's a great day out for all the family and it has some poignant and thought provoking exhibits.

The history around this museum is very interesting, however the entrance is a bit expensive. There is a free galley in the first floor with interesting info and some interactive, I like the chance to do craft activities there, but seems a little artificial.

The origins of the crime, a special feature on criminals in the UK, put in prisons that will probably use real dungeons.
The dungeons are very sparse and the scaffolding is bad, so I think it is difficult to visit sandals.

Visited museum for a day trip 5th October 2019. It was great they give you a wristband and you find out what crime you committed ans and what your fate was. The also have actors the jail keeper was most interesting. Asked me if i could afford 20 shillings a week to get a cell or i would end up in a pit. Saw the poor gay in the pit did not look well at all.

Very historical. Its a great place for family and friends. I went today and had a great time. The staff are friendly and have actors dressed in old clothing who give facts and info about your location in the museum. They also act out scenes that happened 100s of years ago that you can get involved in. 5 stars.

My first time, won't be the last. The tour was set at a 'starter' level. I.e. Not tooo scary. However I'm told there are more lively places to visit there. I shall be booking my place in the near future.
I was touched by past inmates, but nothing visual. Bring it on.

Wife and I found this museum very interesting and it was a pleasure exploring everything. Got to dress as a judge so that's always a plus for me :)) History there is amazing and it made me feel like I came out knowing more than before about how the justice system used to be. We only came to visit Nottingham for one day so we decided to see the castle and this museum and I have to say we did not regret our decisions at all. Would recommend !

We had a very nice tour guide. The guide knew to tell a lot and made the tour interesting. definitely a place to visit when in Nottingham. In winter it is really cold, they should make the place (at least in the places where it is possible) a little warmer.

A very eye-opening museum about crime and punishment and those who tried to reform the misunderstanding and cruelty. Actors at various points definitely add to the interest. My 13-year old granddaughter said she was glad she wasn't around in the times young children were deported to Australia.

Finding a museum like this is sometimes very difficult but have a pleasant surprise when visiting it. The super complete exposures. Entertaining and interactive, they also have some demonstrations that recreate the history of this prison a bit. The price is a bit high, but worth it, the same as touring everything. The museum is quite large and you can certainly get good photos.

Friendly staff, worthwhile exhibits, very educational and thought provoking. There is a real courtroom. And the prison cells are well, worth a visit. A good hour or so spent here for both adults and children.

I had a really great morning exploring this museum. There is a ton of stuff to see and read about the history of crime and justice in the UK and around the world. The museum is very interactive with lots of props and actual items. They show you all the different types of prison cells, types, etc. They also show you all the different methods of punishment as well. The actors they have are brilliant and interesting. They also have a witches trial which the audience gets to participate in. I spent about 3 hours here and felt that I still missed some information.

Murder mystery evening was very good. The actors were totally in character. The meal was also good, soup, Christmas dinner and platter of puddings (seemed quite a bit of wastage there, lots of chocolate fudge cake) and the staff coped well as it was a full house. Only downside was the reveal at the end when we couldn't really hear what the constable was explaining due to everyone chattering over him. Microphone needed? Or a bit of assertiveness to quieten the rabble down!! Altogether, a fun evening.

One of the greatest experiences of my life. Fantastic exhibitions and lovely staff. We went on a private tour with a very knowledgeable guide who took us around the museum and told us amazing stories and showed us hidden secrets about the building. Very spooky at night. Also it's very cold inside and the floor is uneven so I would recommend to layer up and wear comfortable shoes. Will be going back soon for a murder mystery party.
