Their website doesn't let you print the boarding pass and gives you an error and at the airport they charge you big bucks for everything! Rip off airline, wouldn't use them again! Worse customer service ever!

I've traveled so many times around the globe, but never ever meet such a worthless company. Ryanair and other "economic" airlines are so much better. I booked a Flex ticket (not economic) with included more luggage and fast check in. Didn't use the extra luggage anyway. I tried in 2 days to do the online check in...last time about 10 hrs before my departure time. The website didn't allow me because some technical problems. So in the fast check in, I had to pay 25 euro (75.000 peso) extra because I didn't do the web checking... Wortless. Never more. It's not about the money, just stupid

WORST air travel experience of my life. Viva Air is incompetent, dishonest, and 100% unprofessional.

Even after I booked and paid for my Juliaca-Lima flight six weeks before traveling, I couldn't complete my booking online (passport no., emergency contact, etc.) until a few hours before departure. Also couldn't pay for "extras" like checked bag and seat assignment online in advance - Viva's ridiculous website wouldn't allow those routine functions. I tried at original booking AND after Viva inexplicably changed the flight time a couple of weeks before my trip.

Chaos continued @ Juliaca Airport, where a modest load of pax waited 40+ minutes to check in for the airline's ONLY flight. Why? Who knows. Maybe I should have asked the employee standing behind the counter doing NOTHING for the whole time a line of 40 got no closer to check-in. I guess the other agents were busy nickel-and-diming and verbally abusing pax whose carry-ons exceeded the size limit by 0.2 cm.

The overcrowded boarding area had no departure board, insufficient seating, and inadequate signage. Five minutes before published departure time, aircraft hadn't even arrived. By the time it did arrive (45 mins late), agents had made NO announcements. Nothing.

Boarding area was chaos, even though it was hardly understaffed. Agents were totally indifferent to my questions and complaints (I'm pretty sure they get a lot of complaints and thus have learned to dismiss them). The lack of communication and any semblance of order in lining pax up by boarding group is incomprehensible and unprofessional. An apology for the delay and disorder? Ha ha!!! These people don't give a flying f***.

Onboard product is what you'd expect from an LCC or ULCC (think Ryanair, Vueling, Spirit, or Allegiant, but utterly outrageous catering prices). In-flight experience is fine, given those low standards, but it doesn't make up for the absolutely horrible and stressful booking-checkin-boarding nightmare.



If anything positive has come from my AWFUL experience with Viva Air, the first thing would be that my Viva complaint is trivial compared to other posters' genuine horror stories. I feel bad for everyone else who has suffered so much worse @ Viva's greedy hands. The second is the conversation I had at the general info desk @ Lima airport. When I told her I had a complaint to file about Viva, she gave me a pained look and said Viva is the absolute WORST airline flying in S. America. She hears scores of complaints at her desk every week. We both had to laugh a little.

Terrible airlines. It showed it's true colours on an International Flight!!! I had booked a flight from Medellin to Miami departing at 2:50 pm - however, the airline preponed the departure by 7 hours to 7:50 am. Check-in began at only 4:50 am and there was no option to check-in online for international flights. It was a nightmare - I had to reach the airport at night and sleep there given taking a taxi at 4 am would have been pretty risky in Medellin.

They were absolutely unapologetic and did not even inform me of the time change - I got to know when I tried to do a web check in 48 hours before. My bag was literally 4 cm higher than the luggage size and they charged me extra for it - despite arguing for 15 minutes..

At the last hour, they also decided to postpone the flight by an hour - as if they hadn't given enough grief earlier!! The seats were terribly small and had no option to recline. Given Colombia has probably the most beautiful women in the world, the air hostess and the crew was probably the worst looking I've seen on any airline in my life. Absolutely, avoid this airline. The announcements were only in Spanish despite it being an international flight to the US.

When you book tickets for a group, you are deliberately placed throughout the plane so that you are going to buy specific seats to sit next to each other. Even with (hand) luggage they are not going smoothly.

My experience was very good!

My experience was very good!
I had read lousy comments about the company, and how they charge for the ticket.
However, on its own website, for each route 3 different fares are specified, and they are CLEARLY detailed that they include and the conditions of each of the fares. Obviously, the price of the basic rate is much lower than the price of the premium rate. If one chooses the most complete fare the flight is not low cost, it is equated to one of Avianca.
But, it is still worth it and I do not consider that there is any deceit.

Very comfortable seats and service on board too.

Something that did not make me 100% satisfied is that they sat next to a passenger who was traveling with a large dog without a muzzle. Nobody asked me if I have an allergy or fear of dogs, if I agreed ... The dog was very nervous the whole flight.

CONS:
1. Website is very scammy. It preselects additional services to charge you, which you can t unselect.
2. They change your flight times which has an impact on your travel plans.
3. They constantly ask you for additional information that you have provided.
4. No matter what, you likely can t print your boarding pass in advance so you are forced to pay at the airport (@36,000cop/person)
5. You are restricted to only one personal item of 10kg/person and it must be within the dimensions indicated for the lowest price. If you have anything extra (i.e.,purse) you will be charged, even after check in at the very last minute.
6. No free beverages or snacks on this airline. Everything is charged.

This airline is so stressful, there s no point in booking.

PRO:
The planes are clean, the plane gets you from point A-B, and the stewards are professional.

Pure deception how cheap is expensive. For saving me 30,000 pesos compared to the same avianca intinerary.

They charged me 95,000 pesos for hand luggage for the little that comes out and not even because of overweight. Attached image of the suitcase already in the cabin and does not occupy any additional space. In short, they are sadistic starving people who abuse passengers who require service.

Additionally they do not give the option of hold baggage unless it is additional and costs 90,000 pesos.

You have to take the printed web check in online. Or they charge you 40,000 pesos at the box office for printing it.

More miserable ... it would be impossible.

In short, they sell you a stone candy.

First and last time I travel with that airline trash and the staff at the box office of the most impressive Bogota golden bogota !!

Terrible the experience that my family and I have had. Officials do not have the slightest idea of what service is. Despite the fact that we had bought 6 tickets and 2 of the family group could not travel (of course there is no refund of tickets) they demanded that we have to pay for 1 suitcase, using as argument the fact that the suitcases would have to be registered in the name of people who were not traveling. But the worst thing is the way they are addressed to the users of the company. They manifest their ignorance when trying to show that we are the clients that we need from them and therefore we must submit to how they want to handle the situation. I would never recommend this company.
Terrible experience we have had my family and myself. Despite we had purchased 6 tickets and 2 of our family members could not travel, they requested an extra charge for 1 luggage, according to them because the additional luggage was registered into the tickets of the family members that would not travel. But the worst is how they treat the customers. They express their ignorance believing that the customers are the ones who need them, therefore we have to be submitted to their will. I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANY ONE.

tried to charge me for my backpack being 1.5cm out - although completely underweight and this extra one centimeter being the metal frame not even the bulk of the backpack.

Lucky my suitcase was half empty so I ve put it inside it and even if it was bang on the right weight (19.6kg) with my backpack inside tried to charge me anyway as i didnt come to the counter already with it inside??

first time this happened after 1 month of flying around colombia.

Rude useless aggressive stuff. You think youd be saving money using them - but its a big fat lie!!!

This is by far the worst experience I have had with an airline and I have been traveling frequently for years. First, we missed our flight because agent Tania Pimentel sent us to print our passes on board in an internet cafe as their equipment could not read those on our phones. We arrived 1:15 before our national flight and she informed us that we could have paid an additional fee to print them on site only when it was too late to do so. When it came to changing the flight, the agent Desirel Villa acted with a lack of professionalism when I asked him to call his supervisor. Plus, the price for the next flight was double what we paid for a round trip. Then, when we wanted to make our registration by internet, we had seats allocated completely opposite. After contacting their customer service, they informed us that we still had to pay an additional fee in order to choose them. This company only thinks of making money from all means and is by no means present for its customers. By far the worst customer service. I do not recommend anyone to do business with viva air. I will never pass this company before Avianca.

There cabin luggage policy is a joke, different to every other airline I've ever traveled with. Was charged nearly 70 for myself and partners bags, more than the flights cost. Avoid at all costs.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with AirViva. Although we had paid for our luggage in advance and could prove it via recipt, the service staff Xavier Adlana and Sydney Serrano both working for Air Viva refused to check-in our luggage without additional payment of 135000 COP. Their explanation was that their system could not identify the payment. We kindly asked them to clarify this on their behalf but both stayed absolutely stubborn.
Any request for refund was ignored sofar.
Both service staffs were very unfriendly and were not willing to answer any further questions in english nor in spanish.

I will avoid this airline in future. It seems they have problems with their system and their staff.

I am very disappointed with this airline. The personal is extremely rude. During covid circumstances I had to fly to a place where covid test was needed. Before the flight I called to these airlines 3 times and even texted a letter about what type of a test I need to have, threw nose or threw blood is fine. They said any of them works. I was the last passenger to walk into the plane, with my blood test which apparently didn't work.. they didn't let me fly, talking super rude with me.. even when I had a prove of their airlines in a letter... lost my holidays...

I was on vh5735 from Santa marta to bogota today and the experience was terrible. I had to pay a small fee to carry my fishing rod on board the aircraft. The problem is that the security at the airport viewed it as a weapon, the treated me like I had done something wrong trying to get it on board. I was threatened and they tried to take it. I refused to allow that. When I went back to the counter they wouldn't refund my money and informed me that my only option was to pay an additional 120,000 pesos for another bag. They didn't take the fee I already payed out of it and they didn't care. Then when I went to go back through security they wouldn't let me through becasue I tried to get a "weapon" through before. So I returned to the counter and they said they couldn't get my bags for me. Leaving me stranded I santa marta with my bags on an airplane to bogota. Then magically everyone changed their mind and let me through. I feel as if it was an attempt at bribery and they were displeased when I didn't cooperate. I would like a refund.

Why?

1. They dont accept e-tickets in 2018?! you have to print it, since you can make the check in just 24h before the flight i had no chance to print it (im a tourist dont have a printer at my accommodation) so they forced me to pay penalty in the airport

2. After this they charged me cause my hand laguage was to big, even tho it was just 6kg and the limit is 10kg, sayung its size is bigger than the limit, i ve traveled 50 times with this laguage all around the world, never had problem, but they use different dimensions, and forced me to pay again extra

Good day! I mean that I will never use the Viva Air service again, because on March 8 they gave us lousy service. We missed the Med-Bog flight because we weren't allowed to board the plane with 20 minutes to go. On the boarding pass it says that the doors close in 15 minutes. At check-in we were checked and told to proceed to board, which we did. But the moment they reached the door, they closed it in front of our noses. I thought it would be the fault of the passage from google flight to viva air website, or even my fault, though when we were at the counter of viva air at the airport, two other people had the same problem. Even more, when I tried to change the date of the flight on viva air website, the same problem occured!!! I couldn't even select the flight I wanted. That added to the fact that the price they were charging to change the dates were more expensive than a new flight ticket from a better company. Not to mention the customer service was arrogant. I don't recommend Viva Air.

Worst airline ever. I was 3 hours upfront. Waited an hour in line. Than told me that I had to buy another journey to proof I was leaving the country (70 dollars). After that they told me that they they just closed the baggage luggage (more than hour upfront) and I had to pay another 70 dollars. They are crooks and completely not helpful and waiting for me to miss cut off points so they could earn more money.
I walked away. Will never take this airline again and would people advise to think twice..

The worst airline I know, they base their business on getting money at the expense of annoyance, starting they charge you for taking out the boarding pass, if you don't pay extra you make a queue of at least two hours to leave your luggage. Because so much, because they only have two reception points, they have so little staff that when you are in the queue of boarding, the people sneak everywhere .. SCAM!! The airline is just a fraud!! They would charge you so-called 'additional fee' which cost 39, 000 peso if you haven't done web checkin!! (this boarding pass is the worst and thinnest I have ever seen!) Is Viva air cheap?? No way! It cost me around USD 80 in total to fly from Medellin to Cartagena which was just a 45-minute flight! I have travelled to more than 30 countries in the world and Viva air is absolutely the worst! If viva air tries to be a successful low cost airline, please learn from Airasia. Thank Viva airline for ruining Colombia's impresssion!!
