Not at all what we expected! More like a two star not sure who has rated this a 4 1/2, not even close! It's out dated and dirty!
The front desk is friendly no complaints there however we waited in the check in line for a long time because they were understaffed with only one person working the counter. Check out was a nightmare with one bellhop to retrieve our bags that we left in a holding room so we could do some shopping before departure.
The parking garage was also a nightmare we waited over a half hour for our car and it was 125.00$ because the time lapped over 24 hours which was never brought to our attention prior to parking it! Besides location it was a bad experience!!

Price is descent - Room basic and well maintaned - hallway carpets are terrible, but the location is awesome ! Seriously you walk out the door and turn right and its times square, left and its central park! Close to food and subways - great stay.

Room wasn t very clean. The reason I chose to stay here was it came with parking. Upon check out they refused to validate because I booked through Expedia. We were also forced to pay $40 for WiFi that DID NOT WORK! We are mobile hotspots and didn t need their WiFi. So beware your parking fee and WiFi will cost you an additional $115.00!! Quite a vile surprise when there s hidden fees! There s zero fine print about the parking and WiFi charges. Buyer beware!

The only reason this hotel is getting 1 star is because of the location. It is conveniently located near time square, Hell's kitchen and central park. The hotel rooms are definitely outdated and dirty. Our restroom toilet was dirty (dust/stains) and the shower had black mold around the caulk. The shower walls also had hairs strewned throughout. This hotel also has the nerve to charge an additional "spa" fee upon arrival. This hotel does not scream spa! BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rooms are nice but small and the bathrooms are too small to really use. The showers seem to have some issues working. While the rooms are clean, they aren't spotless and I continue to find hairs in places such as the ice bucket.

So I want to divide my review into 2 parts. location and friendliness of employees from 5-star Hotel General revisable quality. All in all I can not complain of the last week in the hotel with 3 friends. If only upto the rooms given the location definitely deserve 5 stars.

I am in big trouble at this hotel. It was charged in duplicate because the system fell right in the hour ..., I called, I sent a message, an e-mail ... and nobody answers me. I want to continue with the reservation, but do not pay double. I booked two rooms and charged 4.No answer the phone !!!!!!!!!!

Large clean retro style rooms with comfortable beds. Excellent location between the 7th Ave and Broadway and with a subway station one block away. Good value for the money. Fast check in and check out.

Location is the only plus. Mold in the bathroom. Room was cold and we were told the season was changing and heating was switching to air soon and they could not do anything about the cold air blowing out the system, however it was 40 degrees outside. Manager stated she would send up a heater or change the room. She did neither and never returned my calls. The final straw was the ceiling in the bathroom failing in the tub due to a leak and I demanded a new room which was cold as well. The new bathroom had mold. The Sheraton is across the street, I will try this next trip to NYC.

The room was small but very nice.Fluffy pillows, comfy bed. Looked to be newly remodeled.Very tasteful. Staff was fine. Location great. Our room was by the elevators but I still slept wonderfully. Must have been the comfy bed. Our rate included breakfast. The buffet normally priced at $35 would not have been worth it. Coffee was weak. Potatoes were overly salty. Bacon was Super smokey. Fruit selection was great, fresh raspberries. Fresh OJ was good. Server was unimpressive. Kind of actually in the way.

Would definatly stay there again. Liked the hotel. (If the buffet is included. Fine, but otherwise overpriced buffet)

Rooms were OK - The room in the picture on the website compared to what we got was like a "Catfish".. but not like we spent much time in our room as NYC anyway so minor issue.

Staff were friendly & helpful and can't complain about the location!

The hotel is very well located, very nice and the restaurant very attractive ... to the Gym you have to go to the hotel next door but I really liked the facilities of the Gym, the room is comfortable with good views. The staff were attentive and polite, I had a problem with the hotel's hair dryer that the first one had the cable with bad contact, call the reception that it was already late and they brought me another one that burned my hair .. and I think that I will not use any dryer at any hotel after this inconvenience, but the hotel itself was a very good and quiet day. I would certainly go back to the problem I had ..

Excellent, unbeatable location.

This is probably the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at, and I have travelled extensively in the past many years. This hotel has absolutely nothing for it's guests. There is no wireless internet, no information materials in the room whatsoever, not even an information card as to how to use the phone, no hotel directory, nothing - not even a pad and pen to jot down notes. There is no room service (except for a very expensive breakfast), the air conditioning does not work properly, there is only a postage stamp for a closet, and the bathroom is so small you can barely move around in it. Certainly no heavenly beds as in other Starwood hotels. Additionally, this hotel has NEVER been renovated, and it shows it. It is so run down, the paint is coming off the walls, a picture was missing from the wall in our room with just the screws showing, and the lamp was broken by one of the beds. The faucet in the bathroom ran continually. We pointed all of these things out to housekeeping and maintenance, and they never did anything about them. The truth is, the people at this hotel just don't care about the average traveler that checks in because most of the rooms are sold at a discount to large tour groups (by the way which make for a very loud experience in the halls as well as the lobby). It is dreary and depressing to stay here, and I was very glad to leave and will never return to this hotel ever again. This hotel is a blight to the Starwood franchise and they should definitely remove it.

For the money and location, I felt it was a great deal with a few issues.. We purchased the room through Groupon which we felt was a decent price. We decided to start reading Google reviews after we made the purchase and unfortunately we found out after our check-in that the majority of the reviews seemed to be pretty close to the mark
Our room had a slow drain in the shower and it appears that many attention to detail issues were discovered - I noticed that manegment was very quick to address most of these items on Google reviews but, apparently it seems to be lip service with nothing really being done to rectify said problems - Now I want to say again, for the money & location it's a pretty solid bet. If you are like me and my wife you really won't be spending a ton of time in the room anyway

The hotel is terrible I look overlooking a dead top building I have the washcloths and towels in the room has hair all over its never will I come back to this hotel if ever again bad service at the customer service is also bad New York I don't see anything to it not so the money that I pay to stay here for a whole week really disappointed will recommend it to no one

Location good but that's the only good thing. The rooms were old and dirty. There were spiderwebs behind the bedside tables which we had to move to plug in chargers. One of the beds was broken, they said they would fix it while we were out. They didn't. Then when I asked they said they would move us to another room, but we had to pack up all our stuff, put it in storage and then re-check in the next day. Surely they could have moved our luggage to another room without us having to wait another 2 hours to check in after we had already done that when we initially checked in. We stayed 8 days and were very glad to check out.

This is honestly one of the worst hotels I have stayed in given the price we paid for one night. Reserved a double bed room in Jan. 2019 for a stay in June but received keys for a single queen. When we went back to the lobby to get this corrected we were told there were no double beds available for the night (fyi, this was at 4:45pm, so clear after check in time). We were offered a roll away bed and $40 off the stay. We asked to speak to the manager because there's no reason we should not have the accommodation we paid for. After about 5 minutes the receptionist came back and told us there was a double bed available, just on a lower floor. Why on earth were we offered a lesser accommodation than what we paid for when one was available? Upon going to the second room there was a horrible odor that nobody should pay to breathe in all night and the bathtub was dirty. Called to speak to the manager and the receptionist EASILY put us in another double bed on a floor HIGHER than the previous bedroom, which the previous receptionist also said wasn't available. The third bedroom was better in the sense there wasn't an odor, but while getting ready to go out for the night, a roach crawls down the bathroom door. Please understand, just because you are a hotel in a major city doesn't mean you should expect rodents. I have stayed in Manhattan several times and have never encountered roaches. At this point we plan to just deal with it and when we returned later that night to go to bed, the sheets on one of the beds were red stained. I would never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel despite the location.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE!!!!

NOT RECOMMENDABLE!!!!
I give a star for the location of the hotel, which if not even a star would deserve.
-Robby rooms, with leaks, grungy furniture, lamps very deteriorated and with poor light.
-the service of lousy cleaning too, there is dust everywhere, cobwebs in the corners and food stains that were already there when we came.
-WATCH OUT!!! Do not be fooled OBLIGATORY PAY WIFI ($ 34 EVERY NIGHT)

Unbeatable location ... of everything in the area. However, the photos do not resemble the reality of the hotel ... it needs to be remodeled because despite being quite clean, everything is old and therefore is in poor condition.

The worst staying ever, the AC is not working in the entire hotel, and they didn t mention it officially. After checking in and entering the room I found the AC is not working and the room is super hot. i called the front desk and she said the AC is not till the end of May. I asked for fan and they said they ran out of it. She recommend me to send a maintenance guy to open the window as a solution!!!!! My room was in floor 14th and i have kid, so how safety is in this solution!!! Never never never book there.

Great location at 51 and 7th Ave. 2 minutes walk from the subway and Times Square. If you are coming from other country, make sure you consider the tax. very good front desk services and luggage keep room. Also was able to do a check out at 13:30 while original hour was 11:00.
Room itself is bit old-looking but clean and have all needed facilities.

Really in need of a renovation! The location was the best part of this hotel. It is a filthy dump inside, the walls are paper thin, and the mattress is like sleeping on the ground full of rocks. Be sure to pack your ear plugs and an air mattress! Really, really gross and worn out!!

For the price in Times Square it is fine. You are paying solely for the location. The hotel is fine but old and needs updating. I was expecting much for the price and it met those expectations. It was fine, I didn't go to NYC to stay in my room.

I have read a lot of bad reviews for this hotel so I was a bit worried. I took the executive floor which was priced very affordable. The hotel is not the newest but the lobby is nice and clean.
The rooms on the 18th floor are big enough. Bathroom is new, room a bit older (might be good if they replace dirty carpets) but still serves the purpose.
Breakfast is disappointing - 2-3 star.. so I was eating out.
Location is splendid.... 5 min to Times square and 5 min to Central park.
All in all is good value hotel for spending time on Manhattan.

The hotel's interior is a little bit old, but quite clean. However, It occupies a very nice location, just blocks away from Time Square, very convenient and approachable to subway stations. Overall I enjoy my stay for a whole week and have a nice time here.

When I got to NY I so exited to be there until I came across the worse costumer service possible at this hotel, When my wife & I checked in the hotel they asked for the deposit I paid it with my credit card and they didn't have a problem that the reservation was under my wife's name and they took the payment with my card, but when I went out of the room and forgot my key inside my room and I went down stairs to ask them to open my room and showed them my ID they said that the room was not under my name and that they couldn't open the room for me, that i needed to call my wife for that, I explained to them that she was on the shower and that she wouldn't hear me knocking the door that if they open she will verify that i was her husband plus they have my card info on their system, the insisted that they couldn't do that because I could be a serious killer for what they know and that i need it to leave the hotel or they were to call security, after they took over $500 from credit card as deposit. This made my trip not to like NY being that it was the 1st day there but I understand that it was not city's fault and that the Hotel was just managed under the wrong people and that it was a lack of customer service and ethic from the part of the receptionists. Worse Experience ever will never stay there in my next visit to NY.

Located in a prime location the area and lobby led you to believe it's an exquisite hotel, however the elegant ambiance stops at the 1st floor elevator. Once on our floor the futher we journeyed down the hall I felt like i was in the movie The Shining. Outdated carpeting, dimly lit lighting and no wall decor outside of the mirror that greets you as you exit the elevator. The rooms view and a very nice telephone were the only delights here.
I can go on but its putting a damper in my spirit.
Tips: check all reviews and if its to good to be true...........well you all know the saying.

The Manhattan at Times Square was one of the worst...

The Manhattan at Times Square was one of the worst hotels I ve ever stayed at. Other than the prime location, there was nothing nice about this place. The photos online are extremely misleading as they are taken of the executive suites located on one of the floors.

The hallways appeared to be a scene from a horror movie as they were dark, old, dirty, and warn out. The walls and ceiling of the room had cracks and rips as well as; the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the towels had brown stains on them, the latch on the door was broken off and patched up from the outside, the carpets looked like they ve never been replaced, the furniture was outdated and unmatched, you could hear people from neighbouring rooms, there was constant noises coming through the vents (felt like we were next to the laundry room), curtains were old and dirty, everyone had access to every floor (felt super unsafe), the bathroom was very small, the faucet leaked and to top it off there was a sign on the door that said do not open the door if you do not know who it is.

We didn t want the cleaners to come in our room because we felt unsafe and didn t trust anyone. When we left our room for the day we would place the do not disturb sign on the door handle and kept the TV on so people would think we were in our room. Unfortunately I do not have any photos to share. This hotel was extremely disappointing and I would not recommend anyone staying at The Manhattan at Times Square.

The photos shared on this hotel's website do NOT represent the hotel rooms and area a far cry from what they are representing. The rooms are dated, old and smelly. None of the phones in our room worked, there was a water leak in the wall that created a 3'x3' wet spot on our carpet. EVERYONE checking into this hotel was complaining about the rooms. The hotel manager spent his entire time managing angry people who were dissatisfied with their rooms. The location is great and if you don't mind a crappy room with worn down furniture, stained and wet carpets, then you will be fine. Despite my complaints regarding "bait and switch" to the hotel manager, nothing was done. I arrived at 6pm to get my room and I was told it wasn't ready. The hotel guaranteed rooms at 3pm and yet everyone had the same complaint. My recommendation would be to find another hotel and NEVER consider this place.

Lobby and entryway are very nice. The rooms are simply very dirty and outdated. I would not attribute this to the cleaning staff. What they can clean is relatively clean; the bath, the sheets and towels. Everything else is nasty dirty and needs a major update. Traveling frequently, I can tell you that I have not stayed in a dirtier place.

The staff deserves 5 stars. They were polite and gracious workers. The hotel though needs serious renovation. Our room had holes in the wall, broken outlets, equipment and surroundings. The price was so much higher for such bad quality. The bathroom was small and the atmosphere was outdated. Honestly I'm disappointed but the staff made it hard for us to want to tell then personally. The rooms are nothing like displayed. Otherwise it wouldve been a 5.
