The only good thing about this hotel is its location 5 minutes from Times Square and Central Park. If not shabby hotel room full of dust and unidentified material on the side of the toilet. Decaying ceiling. The catches are very dangerous me who was with my 3 year old son it was anything. This also reduces the number of sockets available. When the light breaks the maids do not change it. Very disappointed and I do not recommend.

Fantastic location and service but the hotel and rooms are starting to get run down. The thing I especially didn't like was the windows were incredibly dirty, which is too bad because the view here is so important.

The location is perfect near everything. The wifi with other amenities are 30 dollars per day . The cleaning is very good but unfortunately i see a small spot of bloof on one blanket which it should not be there. The receptionist (Valerie)in the first day we arrived , she did not smile when she talked with us ,she seems that she was angry and I don't know why . She should be like other receptionists in this hotel meeting me with smile talking freely not stressfully.

Lobby is nice, once you step off the elevator you see that s the only thing that s nice. The whole place is dingy. Don t call down to the front desk for anything (blankets, towels, etc.) because they aren t coming.

Amazing hotel in the heart of Manhattan. Go walking every where from here. The room was great, totally renewed. The attention couldn't be better. If you see two different kind of options about the hotel, it's because not too many people know that the hotel is under an upgrade process . So, you MUST be sure to book an EXECUTIVE SUITE ON the 18th floor . If you get a regular room, you will feel disappointed because is not the room showed in the pictures, exec is just a little more than advertised but totally worth it. Keep booking exec suites so the owners will renovate more floors

We stay here every visit to NYC! Helpful and friendly employees. Several have worked here for Many years! Comfortable beds, nice updates. Plenty of places to plug in. Mini fridge, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. Breakfast has fruit and pastries, coffee, tea and juices. Only negative and is in most hotels, not enough towel hooks in bathroom.

The staff were very friendly and helpful! The lobby was nice and we liked that they will store your luggage before being able to check in. Great location for downtown NY. I only give it 3 stars because it does need updated alot once you get to your floors. Floors, walls and bathrooms very old but I will say the bedding was comfortable for the price you pay. We would stay here again. Hopefully it will be better updated next time though :)

Best 2 Star hotel in Manhattan. Old and lots of add-on fees. Gym fee whether you use it or not $30. Nice breakfast of fruit and muffin and juice for free in the morning, but not $30 worth. Rooms and hallways old and musty. It is near my client's office though and Times Square.

Not sure why I saw so many poor reviews. We stayed here last week and the place was clean and well maintained and the staff were all very cordial and accommodating. It is true that the ac is not turned on yet, but the windows fully open.

I advised the front desk the night before my departure that I couldn't set the time on the alarm clock, nor did the phone appear to be working (of which a $30 a day 'Resort fee' was applied for the privilege of free local and long distance calling, along with free water fills, and use of business centre and fitness center. None of which, ... okay maybe the water, was of any use as a tourist. Lesson learned...read the fine print when booking with Expedia). I was told by the front desk clerk that she would arrange a wake up call. On a phone that wasn't working I asked. Yes...she replied. I then downloaded an alarm app on my phone just to be safe. I did not get a wake up call from the front desk. I was on the 15th floor. The hallways were in very rough shape, dirty old paint, and the carpet was a tripping hazard with all the wrinkles. Room was clean and comfortable, but dated.

Very busy. Asked if any upgrades as anniversay to be told there was nothing however as we waited for the room key a gentleman bext to me asked the same question and was advised there was. Not happy at all about that service.

Way too overpriced for the conditions of the rooms.
While check in and check out went somewhat smoothly (just slow because of the lack of staff at the front desk), everything else was outdated. The elevators were slow in times of high demand. The hallways and bathrooms looked like they were from a cheap motel in a deserted town. Our bathroom was the size of a closet with the wallpaper peeling off the walls and the original counters dating back at least 2 decades. I could tell that the toilet was replaced since the immediate tile around it was newer than the rest. I did not feel relaxed or even comfortable in their shower due to lack of water pressure as well as the dirty shower curtain.
The only benefit was the distance to Times Square. However, if you re looking for a hotel in close proximity to Times Square, I d recommend you check all the individual hotels websites rather than a hotel comparison site.

This hotel was exactly what my wife and I were looking for on our New York vacation. It was close to Times Square and easy access to the subway so we could see all the sites. The room was clean, and I appreciated the complimentary travel water bottles, they came in very handy. They even held our luggage on our last day, which was very nice of them. However the bell hop service was a little slow and their computer/business center was minimal. It was the right price, at the right place.

Awful, dirty, outdated. Paper wall is peeling out all around the room, mattress stained and covers with a torn sheet, rusty shower head, no water pressure in the shower or the sink.
Look for somewhere else to stay. The only good thing about this hotel is the location but there are plenty other options in Manhattan to choose from.
Do not recommend at all: it s creepy just to walk along the corridor to find the room. This hotel is NEVER AGAIN!

Booked two rooms for a summer trip June 19" for two nights. Loved the location and am familiar with New York so it was key. The Staff of the hotel is very friendly and accommodating. Helped us store our bags while the rooms were being prepped etc. The rooms themselves at least ours were VERY outdated and the bathrooms were dingy and borderline dirty. They are in desperate need of renovation and the pics you see on the site are of one floor.

Very good location in the Central Manhatten about half way between Times Square and Central Park. The rooms are a decent size and nice enough but the bathrooms are a little small and dated. One encountered one semi rude member of staff but the guy out front who hails the taxis was really nice and very helpful. Be careful of the $32 a night room tax, this was something we didn't realise when booking.

Hotel very well located, 5 minutes walk to Times Square, in an area with shops, restaurants and cafes, despite this you do not hear much noise from the street. Large rooms, large bed, large television ... Full bathroom with hairdryer. The bathtub with good water pressure. Coffee maker in the room.
They have a room to leave your luggage from the time you check out until you have to leave, so you don't carry your bags all day.

Pros:

Pros:
Great location
Decent price
Nice big TV

Cons:
AC unit very loud
Rooms extremely dated
Pictures on website look nothing like rooms
Rooms not clean, dust everywhere in easy to wipe locations
Rug not vacuumed
Groupon price costs more than booking it regularly through hotel
Rugs coming up off floor
Wires from wall are exposed
Tub dirty
Water damage under sink
Wall paper ripping off wall
Dirty & stained walls
Easy to remove dirty tissue stuck in peep hole if they actually cleaned this room.

Overall will probably not be returning to this hotel

Let me start by saying this was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Yes the location is great but other than that it was an absolute dump. The pictures are very misleading online because the lobby is very nice but all of the hallways and rooms are disgusting. When we first got there we noticed stains on our sheets. We also noticed we didn't have a remote, gum on the lampshade and the room barely looked like it had been cleaned. When I called I asked if the hotel had ac and they said yes. Come to find out they DO have AC but not in individual rooms so the Hotel either needs to be on heat or AC. The room was so hot we could barely sleep and my brother had to run 13.1 miles the next morning. We we're on the 19th floor so we were unable to open the window very much. I also asked if they had refrigerators in the room and I was told no but I could get one upon request. I explained to them that the refrigerator was a necessity for us because my daughter has a kidney disease and is on medication that needs to be refrigerated. They told me to call on our way there and that they would have one set up in the room. Our Drive was 5 hours away & I called them before we left the house all the way up until we were in the parking garage and still never got someone to pick up. When we got there it was a madhouse. There was a line from the elevator to the door & it took us almost 25 minutes to get checked in and on the elevator. We called & complained about all of the things that were wrong with our room and how we had no refrigerator for my daughter's medicine & they told us that someone would be up within 20 minutes to make everything right. An hour later I went downstairs to complain again because no one had been up to our room and that's when one of the front desk members called the maintenance guy on the radio and the maintenance guy started complaining about how he was the only one there and he would get to it when he got to it. An hour later I went downstairs to complain again because no one had been up to our room & that's when one of the front desk members called the maintenance guy on the radio and the maintenance guy started complaining about how he was the only one there & he would get to it when he got to it. while he was going off she turn the radio down so that I couldn't hear and told me that someone would be Up soon. We waited almost 3 hours for refrigerator. When we got it we thought it was broken because hours later it still wasn't cold. At this point I was panicking a little bit because the medicine was starting to get warm. We finally filled up a Ziploc bag full of ice and put the medicine in there. By the time we woke up six hours later the refrigerator still was not cold so I went downstairs to complain & I was told by the manager that the refrigerator can sometimes take up to 12 hours to get cold. I explained to him that I was not a guest complaining about wanting her drinks cold but rather a mother with a daughter who depends on medication & that I told them that I needed the refrigerator before I even booked the room. He apologized & gave me 12 breakfast passes. (We had 4 people and were staying three nights)

The bed was hard as rocks and everyone complained all night long about how their hips hurt and we are barely 30 years old. When we were leaving we were charged $226 for parking. The website says $55 a night for parking but I DID know that our vehicle was going to be more because it was oversized.... I was told that it was going to be $67 a night because we have an SUV but then when we went to pay the bill we were told that it was $75 a night.

I could go on and on about how bad this hotel is but seriously spend a little bit more money and go somewhere that you will actually get good service and not feel disgusting sleeping in. When I said something about all of the problems the manager did say that the price kind of reflects the state of the hotel considering it's right in time square.

I honestly would not stay here again even if it was free.

My granddaughter and I stayed at The Manhattan Hotel At Times Square the last week of June. Our room was ok but a little bit disappointing as fer as the decor and cleanliness were concerned. The desk clerk that checked us in on June 26, which, incidentally, was my birthday, bordered on rude. He acted as though it was a great imposition to be bothered. He never smiled or made eye contact. The elevators, or more accurately, the LACK of elevators, necessitated standing in a long line to wait for them! The location was convenient but that's just about it. I'm giving 3 stars however because the concierge was so sweet and helpful. My granddaughter became ill while we were there. The young lady located an urgent care facility conveniently located, and called ahead for us to confirm the location and insurance acceptance. I doubt I would stay here again though.

The beds were clean and the towels too but all the rest was just dirty, run down and needs urgently a make over... We went there with three small kids and it was just groce... Stepping into the bath you could feel underneath the floor water which should not be there... The floor carpet is disgusting and I would never ever suggest it to anyone...

I reserved this hotel from Expedia and all the picture that I saw was nice and luxury but when I went to the hotel they told me the pictures were actually just for the first floor which is for the first class and the other floors don t matter. The room was very old and our AC wasn t working so we couldn t sleep for 2 nights and some of the staff Luke Valerie are really rude they just left while you were talking.

Staff was amazing, lobby is beautiful, and that's where the good news stops. We were downgraded from our original room. The room was old, bathroom was so small you could hardly get into the bathroom and shut the door. AC never cooled down. Wallpaper peeling everywhere with mold growing behind it. Carpet was old, dark and nasty. Bathroom was so outdated, small and in need of major repairs. Water stains and leaks all of walls. Not a happy camper. Tried to add pics but it won't let me.

I can only highlight its location in Times Square, the hotel is old and lacks a coat of paint, it is possible that they are already given it. The super king size bed as American lls like it.

By far the worst, most disgusting and dishonest hotel i have ever stayed! From the staff to the rooms, i have nothing positive to say about the hotel. And as for the critic, 1 star is only given so that i can write a commemt!
Firsty, the photos on the site are very misleading since the are only from the very few renovated rooms and are photosped! The lobby of the hotel reminded me of the cheapest, dirtiest motel in the middle of nowhere. During check in, they wouldn't accept our credit card. Then the room, they gave us, was so filthy i was so disgusted to even step on the carpet! The walls were dirty with stains on them, the once white curtains were yellow and the so called double beds where tiny. The worst part, however, were the mattresses that were so unconfortable everyone had back pain after one night's sleep! On top of that i felt unsafe! The second day we could no longer stand it, that we checked out and went to a different hotel!
The certain hotel is miles away from 4 stars as it is shelf-discribed and is NOT worth your money! I strongly discourage choosing it, as you can find other excellent hotels for a simillar price.

Never again. I have stayed here numerous times and given a good rating in past..at least 20 times, dozens of nights over the last 3 years. I have had it. Service was horrible this stay. No Air conditioning on an 88 degree day, and extortion level prices. Not to mention the phantom facility fee for nothing. Waited a long time for help and engineering support. Look me up guys..I have stayed with you dozens of night and will be canceling my next stay and I am done. Last straw.

The website is definitely misleading. I chose this hotel based on location and comfort. Well needless to say, the hotel doesn t even have a pool! The room was supposed to be 2 beds, we were given 1 king size with a cot in the corner. After the lobby, don t expect to have anything nice, rooms and hallways are sub par.

The lobby was the only thing nice in the hotel. Our room on the 6th floor was dirty and smelled horrible. Peeling wallpaper was held together with tape. Dirty/moldy shower with hair all over it when we arrived. The room reeked like cigarettes and smelly feet

The hotel is old and needs some upgrading especially their bed. Housekeeping staff always does an amazing job. Front desk sucks, one employee is really poor on customer service. If I am the manager, I'll send her to customer service training and monitor the performance, if not, she need to work somewhere else where she doesn't need to do customer service.

Couldn't get into room till 11pm. Management is pathetic. Staff are overworked and hungry for tips. Rooms didn't have A/C working and are very old without any maintenance. Only thing in favor of it is the location. I wouldn't book this room again.

Would not recommend. The bathtub is dirty and it was cloughed up. The foot of the bed is angled up. Save you money

Edited: I got a cut and paste reply from the hotel. The bathtub seems to keep backing up. Tonight was fun as I was entertained by seeing it full of hairy brown water when I got back to my room . It's 11:06 pm as I post this waiting for the engineer guy to come up to my room. Thanks NYC. Good times *ack*

Ended up here by accident. Our reservation at another hotel fell through and this place had one room open. Great hotel and great location. Everything was very clean and updated. Definitely staying here the next time I'm in NYC.

This hotel too pricey for the room that was offered. The room was old and run down. The Bathroom ceiling had water leek spots. The heater/air conditioner kept running all night with water sounding noises. The best thing about our stay was that it was close to time square. Not sure if I would select this hotel in the future. It was booked by a third party for me. When booked I requested a remodeled room which was on my reservations but when I arrived I was told that a request is just a request and that it wasn't available to me that they kept those rooms for the VIP guest.

A classic hotel in New York city. The location is unbeatable. Everything close. It is a little fallen. Your carpets need an urgent replacement and the bathrooms should be modernized. The standard rooms do not have a minibar. The attention is good, although it is surprising that they do not handle Spanish.

It would not be an easy recommendation. They have hidden charges and if you are on a budget this can throw you off. But there's a Guy called Paolo at the Reception make sure you see him and he will sort you out. Paolo is very helpful and has the real deal Customer service skills. I rate 3 Star because of Paolo!

The website is deceptive! The rooms look great! But our room had peeling wallpaper, tiles in bathroom were cracked and looked to be from the 1950s. The room smelled musty and felt very dingy and unclean! Don t be deceived by the website. The only renovated rooms are on the 18th floor but no one tells you that. We loved the location but that was about it.

My husband and I just spent four Miserble days at the Manhattan at Times Square!!!!! When we arrived the room was extremely warm and uncomfortable. I called the front desk and they said the air conditioning system had been turned off for the season. They would send maintenance up to turn off the heat and open the windows.
We could not sleep that night nor any of the other nights because of the heat and noise from the street!!!!
The mattresses are worn out, carpet worn and filthy, bathrooms disgusting !
I felt dirty the entire time I was there!
When we gotoff the elevator I thought we have arrived in the slums!!!Wallpaper dirty and torn, carpet puckered in the hallways and so dirty!!!!!!
The furnishings in the lobby are worn, dirty, and very disappointing !
I would never stay in this hotel again.

What a disappointment and disgusting experience!!!!!

Wish I had taken pictures, words really cannot express this disgusting hotel!!

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, after that, with respect to the staff, their treatment to the guests leaves a lot to be desired, most of them, if not all, have inadequate attitudes for the place where they work, Secondly, the rooms were small in relation to the amount of guests they say they can accommodate, truly an experience to be forgotten.
