Great location to Times Square. Quick check in and adequate room. Bed was very nice. Carpets in hallways are dirty and wrinkled but room is not. Filtered water on each floor was nice to have rather than purchasing bottled water. We were given refillable water bags. Nice looking continental breakfast with Starbucks coffee in lobby. Overall excellent choice!

I stayed here last year and I can verify that the rooms are dated and in dire needs of renovation. I would not stay here again, ever. The resort fee is a joke considering the amenities and there are far better hotels nearby that are cheaper and cleaner.
The position of the hotel is fantastic: it is only about two minutes away from the Time Square. The only thing that wasn't nice is that it was quite old. But the rest was really good.
I showed up to the hotel and was told I had to pay $30/day in service fees. Since I booked with Expedia, I had no knowledge of this so be aware prior to booking.
Once I checked in, I got a notification on my phone that my card had been charged $150. They took my card at check in for incidentals, but nobody told me I had to pay a $150 security deposit. I checked out today, and learned I won t get the money back for 3-5 business days, so it s putting a hold on all of my Christmas shopping seeing that it s $250 in expenses I didn t account for prior to the trip. As you all know, NYC is expensive enough without the hidden costs.
The pictures of the rooms online are all the executive floor too, so anything nice and up to date you see isn t what your experience will consist of. Otherwise, the location was fantastic, so that s why I awarded it two stars.
After reading reviews about this hotel I was a bit nervous, but went ahead and booked a Standard double room for a quick weekend visit. Check in was easy and for $25 a night we upgraded to a room on a higher floor (20th). It appeared to be an updated Standard room. The hallway was also updated with new carpet and paint, although it still was a little dirty.
The room itself was clean aside from needing some dusting and the beds were very comfortable. It looked like the mattresses were brand new! The bathroom was outdated which was fine, but it could have used more of a cleaning in the corners of the room. We were only given one regular size towel for 3 of us which was inconvenient, but for two nights we just used the smaller towels. If you're a light sleeper I suggest bringing a sound machine because the walls are thin!
We got a good room rate through a seasonal sale on the hotel website, which included free breakfast vouchers. Dolly and Mohammad from the breakfast bar were AWESOME. They took care of us and were happy to chat while we ate.
While we knew the hotel charged a daily facility fee, it was missing from our express check out bill. When asking about the discrepancy at the check out counter, the woman was extremely rude and refused to apologize and say it was a simple mistake that the fee was missing. We just wanted to confirm the amount we were being charged was correct to avoid any future issues or bill adjustments! Not a great way to end the trip.
For a short first time visit to NYC where we were barely in the room this hotel worked out well, but I don't think I would stay again.
I was a little concerned when booking after reading some of the reviews, but after staying at the hotel I believe the negative reviews were way too harsh. It is an older hotel and could use a little renovation but I guarantee if they did the renovations, the room rates would go up dramatically. The accommodations were good, room was clean, bed was comfortable, location was AWESOME, and the price was very reasonable for New York. If you are looking for a Marriott-type hotel, stay at a Marriott (and expect to pay twice as much). If you are looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel with a great location that is perfect for a busy New York vacation, I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely book here again.
The rooms are a bit of a throwback to a time when hotels were still hotels. The housekeeping staff are friendly and attentive to the guests. The staff here in general are courteous and very happy to help. The rooms are clean and you're welcome to relax and enjoy television provided by Dish Network and the wifi is good and strong. They even have jacks if you want to hook up your computer. While they don't have a restaurant they do have a Starbucks Coffee bar and provide cereals, oatmeal and a good variety of danishes and muffins. Located in the heart of the Theater District you have plenty of good to great restaurants and Broadway shows. I highly recommend it.
If you want to get a good night's sleep, stay elsewhere. The walls are paper thin and at least two rooms near me, across the hall from each other are one group of people and I've heard nothing but slamming doors and hallway conversations for the last two hours (going on past midnight). And I'm putting on a white noise app to drown out the TV and conversations of same group when they're in the room adjacent to mine. Room is ok, walls are PAPER thin. Front desk doesn't answer when you call. Stay here to party (aparently), not to sleep.
EDIT: Upon checkout, I was charged a $32/day fee for the "complementary" services of "free" wifi, room cleaning, hot water (which was one of those little self-service coffee machines and a couple of bags of cheap coffee), etc. THIS WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE FEE THAT YOU ARE CHARGED WHEN YOU BOOK. IT WILL BE CHARGED TO YOU UPON CHECKOUT. I stayed there for a work trip and the lady from our office spent an hour on the phone (horrible customer service she said) before even figuring out what the fee was for. Since they charged my personal credit card for it, they would not reverse the charges to me unless she paid instead. I suspect she'll never get it back.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. CLEARLY NOT A 4 or 3 star hotel. Just to check in it took 20 mins to drop a bag while all of the staff stood around and no one would help because it wasn t their job.
Checked in at 4. Room was not clean, especially the shower, nothing more disgusting than finding someone else's hair. We called the front desk to inform them. Took hours for them to come clean. Ruined our trip.
Good location, good price. Dirty bedrooms found blood on bed sheets. Had to wear flip flops in the shower from fear of getting some infection on feet from dirty tub.
I wouldn't even give this hotel one star if I didn't have to. My friend checked into this hotel under Travelocity under the impression that she would be getting a decent room worth the money she paid. Instead she was placed in a room that had a loud humming noise that couldn't be ignored. The bed in that room also had a dip in the middle. She requested a room change which she received but the second room was worse then the first one. My friend invited me to see this second room in person and I was appalled by the conditions of this hotel from the hallways to the room. The second room was the worse hotel room I have ever seen in my life. It actually looked like I had stepped into a horror film. The room was had old carpeting which was filthy and the curtains were covered in dust. All the furniture was sratched up so badly u would have thought they pulled them from the garbage of someone with pets. The wall paper was peeling and the smoke alarm was so old it couldn't possibly have worked. Next we checked out the bed and that made me want a blow up bed instead. It was hard, uncomfortable and the sheets were so cheap I wouldn't even give them to my worse enemy. In the end my friend called Travelocity to request a refund and the hotel manager wouldn't grant it. Since he had already moved her from one disgusting room to another he felt he had done his part. All he would allow was a cancellation but no refund. Why cancel when she could just check out. I was also afraid to leave my friend in this hotel because they had a sign on the desk stating that they support the fight of human trafficking in the hell hole room. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Awful.
On the web it looked something else and it turns out that all the images they show are from the "luxury" or "executive" rooms. The normal rooms are very old. The good thing is the location, the air conditioning works well and the elevator goes very fast. For the rest it has been a disappointment. Because the rooms are old and the bathtubs too. Do not trust the images on the web.
The only thing that is good here is the location. Staff unfriendly and you pay over 40 dollars only for the wifi daily, I find absurd, I prefer to buy a SIM card, it's cheaper and I'm mobile everywhere, but you can't avoid the fee. You pay on site! Check it is available from 3pm and you tell us on site that it is only possible from 4pm! Would never visit this hotel again!
Really awesome place for the price, and the personnel was great. I couldn't have asked for a better location and/or hotel at this price for Thanksgiving. Thanks!
Fancy hotel lobby. Very good location and price! The rooms and hallways appeared a little run down. I didn't spend much time in my room so I didn't mind.
This hotel is a SCAM! The rooms are dirty, furniture is old, the bathrooms are falling apart. The pictures that you see are not of the room you are getting. Staff is friendly but I m not here to make friends and here to sleep and shower in a decent and comfortable place
The perfect no-frills comfortable New York Manhattan hotel. 24hr desk. Wifi included (3-5Mb speed so better than most) in the deal. Free ice and water. Spotlessly clean. Good bathroom: power shower and bath. Room safe a boon for leaving laptops and valuables. This alone a decider for me. Ok the corridors are drab and the decor is dated but everything works and all the staff I met are friendly. Position: slap bang in the middle of everything. Times Square. Fifth Ave shops. Radio City. Rockafeller Tower. Penn Station easy to get to (I walked - 15 min) or subway line 1.
We arrived 12 hours ago from New York, an incredible city, it's a shame that the hotel was a fiasco, an old room, dirty and the worst is that all the noises are heard, people from other rooms shout at any time and the people of the hotel should look at that since there are guests going to rest, obviously I do not plan to go back
We had a great week at the hotel, at the beginning of September, a good room on the 19th floor. We then traveled to Niagara and Washington, came back and were assigned a lower category room with a cigarette environment. Very kindly at the reception they answered our request and moved us to another room on the 18th floor. We would return, together with my husband, as the hotel is well located, good Wifi service, comfortable, hygienic rooms and good services. And they also have something very special: the timely attention and human warmth of all employees to make you feel at home and make our holidays the happiest.
A good hotel. Its location is perfect. You can walk all over Manhattan on foot. It is at 51 with 7. Close to 5 Av and Central Park. Helpful staff. Clean. Very fast internet and throughout the hotel. I'll be back for sure.
Great location and the lobby looks impressive. These are the only positives. Service is poor. The rooms look outdated. The guest towels are rags. The carpet and hallway look dingy and old. The room was not ready when we arrived. We had to wait couple hours. The manager was offering us lame excuses for the wait. They charge a resort fee, which is a joke. If you just looking for a place stay near time square I would recommend it. This hotel is nothing special. The days inn has better facility.
Great location BUT the staff are rude and unhelpful, everything is too much trouble, they don't tell you about the services available until you check out and they charge you for what you haven't used because you didn't know about it. in desperate need of an upgrade.
Its very tired with below standard very basic facilities. The shower in our room had seen better days and the repairs to the shower tray needed repairing. The only plus - the bed was however very comfortable.
Over all avoid like the plague you'd be better off on a park bench in central park.
1 star for convenience of location. Walking distance to Central Park (10 minutes), Times Square (5-10 minutes), and Empire State Building (15-20 minutes).
Minus 1 star for dirtiness in the hotel that is NOT the lobby. This place is nasty, broken, and just NOT worth the $200+ a night.
Minus 3 stars for how RUDE THEY ALL ARE... Maybe it's a New York thing but they don't treat their guest right. Check in employees are ESPECIALLY EXTRA rude people trying to check in and they will ignore you so they don't have to help you out and have their coworker help you instead. (It backfired on mean looking Adam)
Staff was awsome, especially Hector (bellhop) who went out of his way to make sure we had a great visit. Very helpful staff, great location and great price for the area you get.
Pictures on their website are totally different then actual room. Broken and old furniture in room. No free breakfast in most cases. House keeping staff was also pathetic. Better to find some other place.
The location is the best thing about this hotel. The hallways and rooms are very dated. The wall paper was peeling, the tub took an hour to drain from a single shower, the tv kept fading to dark and the air system was noisy.
The location was right near times square so it was very convinientm. The room was really nice and clean, provided us with towel and ither things we need. We went to the frint desk and they helped us a lot, although the tline was long at times. I also booked my bag with storage and they were really nice about it. My whole stay at this hotel was great.
Spent a week at the hotel, and even though the location is good the hotel is very disappointing. The lobby is unbelievably clean and has a great ambience. However, once you go upstairs the carpets are very dirty and the rooms are tiny. The photos posted on google are of the suites and not just the ordinary rooms, so don t be fooled. It s just not acceptable for the price paid. Also there was no fridge or microwave which should be a must in every hotel. I stayed in a Standard double room with my family.
And if you re thinking about staying here during New Years, think again. All the roads are blocked off and just to get into the hotel you will have to walk 7 blocks down. The police officers that are working will not let you enter and it is very frustrating. They made my family and I wait 45 minutes on the road before letting us into the hotel
This was a bait and switch! I found this hotel on Orbitz and decided to try it because of the $139 breakfast included rate. The pictures looked very nice. In actuality the hotel was very shabby. I was willing to overlook that because the top was clean. However I found out that the breakfast was only for 1 person and there were 3 of us on the reservation. Also when I checked out there was a $20 'facility fee' and a tax on that facility fee! So in essence this was actually a $159 rate! I could have stayed at the beautiful Sheraton across the street for $165! Never again will I stay at this hotel!
Do Not Stay Here - The website gives the false impression that the rooms are renovated. However, only one floor of the hotel has been renovated and that would have been great to know before confirming our reservation. The room had an uncomfortable odor, phones did not work, hot water for showering ran out (there were 4 of us). For the price, I was expecting much more. I paid for my stay in cash and made that clear during the reservation process but was not made aware of the $50/night deposit for incidentals until I checked-in. Additionally, the front desk staff was not welcoming/hospitable. I would not recommend this property to anyone nor will I stay there again.
It's more of a 2.5 states. It's a average. The price you pay if your not use to New York prices is high for what you get. And it's a very limited hotel. Not gonna go back knowing there's more options for the same price range.
You want Time Square and crazy New York?! Then stay here! Hotel was clean, warm and comfy. What we expected. After travelling throughout the US, I think back and believe that people in NY were always grumpy and short tempered compared to other eastern states and the west. Maybe it s due to the 62million tourists they have each year?! The stay was great, 5 days was too long here.
The staff is extremely rude and can t help you anything. Plus they add a $40 fee per night for amenities any other hotel has and called them resort facilities . You are better off getting another hotel or an Airbnb.
I spent 3 nights here in September. The location is great, most of the staff were professional and helpful. The air conditioner broke in our rooms but...they had 3 fans in our room within 30 minutes, the sink and tub did not drain properly. Maintenance came to unblock the sink and toilet more than once. I personally think they should have offered to move us to another room or a free ticket for breakfast. I am planning another trip but would not consider staying here.
Service and to go brown bag breakfast were very nice. The location, right on times square is cool for the price. Rooms need serious updating and they know it. Was a crack pipe on our balcony. This compromised how safe we felt. Some small updates, demusking, and thorough housekeeping, and it is a perfect stay.
The food was ok. The singing waitresses ste very good. I thought it was rude that a lady came around with a bucket for extra tips and didn't leave your table unless you gave some money. There is already 20 percent added to my check why do you want more.
We were very happy with our stay here. The staff was friendly and the lobby was nice. Most importantly is that it is right by Times Square. Granted, it is older and not as nice as some hotels, but for the price we paid it was well worth it. If you don't mind your room being small or not being fancy, you will be fine.
The location is really the only thing going for this hotel. It s very old and everything is kind of run down. Our first night we were in a room without AC. They couldn t move us so they gave us a box fan. While they did waive the $40/day facility fee it was still an extremely uncomfortable night. Will likely not stay here again unless they do a major update.
Definitely not a high ranking place. It was like a cheap motel but in the middle of Times Square. May have been 4 stars when it first opened but its not anymore. The rooms are small and the drain didn't work well in the tub/shower. Also, no vent to get rid of steam. Best part was that they left the maid carts out in the halls at all times.
Great location and very friendly staff, but the Hotel is tired and in need of an Upgrade.the carpets were "wrinkled" in the hallways and bathrooms were missing grout, yellowing and softening in the tubs. The rooms were clean and the amenities that you would expect were all there. The parking situation is a nightmare, especially to retrieve your car. It took over an hour! (The parking garage is not operated by the Hotel, but is located underneath it). Overpriced based solely on the location, in my opinion. This used to be a much nicer hotel.
I stayed at the Manhattan and was helped with getting a driver to take me to the airport. After being dropped off I realized I left my wallet in the car. I called the Manhattan and the guys there stayed on it until they tracked down my driver and got me his number. I was able to get him to come back to the airport to give me my wallet. Thank you guys for being great and helpful human beings! I will hook you up next time I m in town.
The area is spectacular, it's in the middle of NY. Unfortunately the services are worth it, the staff is rude and very dirty, it is not possible to have 4 stars!
Location, location, location absolutely the best, the staff amazing, friendly and courteous. I can only speak to our room and that of two other family members staying here disappointing, dissatisfied, sweltering heat outside and our a/c units were not working properly we called the front desk they sent someone, it appears that it could not be fixed 3 days with minimal a/c made for a very uncomfortable stay, we really couldn't get comfortable, wallpaper peeling from the walls, dirty carpets, rattling ceilings. The lobby is beautiful and presents a very different picture than what our rooms actually look like the rooms need some serious upgrades. We were very disappointed. I don't know what rooms are used in advertising but it sure wasn't any of our rooms. Dissatisfied.
Very small room complete with dust around edges of carpet. Hair grip and sweet/ candy wrapper at the side of bed. Dirty/dusty bathroom extract grill. Bath tub didn't drain but the front desk did have it fixed quickly. High resort charges. Avoid if at all possible.
