A truly fabulous experience!

A truly fabulous experience!

Couple of things to consider / remember when heading over. You take a boat out to the statue itself, if it s cold or raining you will need suitable clothing etc. Also the island itself is pretty exposed so make sure your prepared, particularly if you have kids with prams.

Also if you plan to head up to the crown make sure you book your tickets well in advance. You can feel the crown swaying in rough breeze as well, apparently nothing to be scared about but I wasn t the most excited person in the world with the experience. Also the stairs up to the crown are very tight and windy, there is no lift up there.

It was a good experience, although the cold weather made it shorter. It offers a beautiful view from the city, if you get pedestal tickets (crown tickets are harder to get)! Fortunately we didn t have to get in any big lines (we went on February).
From Manhattan you take a ferry on Battery Park, and from New Jersey you have to go to the Central Railroad of New Jersey terminal. Be careful while buying online tickets, we bought guided tour without even knowing, and we actually just wanted to visit by ourselves.

Liberty Island was one of my favorite experiences in New York. The monument itself is fascinating, and around Lady Liberty there are a few fun fact podiums that explain things like: Why is the statue green? and What does the things in the statue stand for? Tired of all of the heat? Go inside the museum at the other side of the island to explore the statue s history. There is even a 10-minute film about the statue playing in the museum. Overall, I am very satisfied with my visit to this national landmark.

The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of friendship between the United States and France, and its procedural body is covered with copper. The place where the statue was built is on Ellis Yabedlo Island or Freedom Island. Work on the statue was completed and displayed in France on June 4, 1884, and the French people observed and admired the statue.
The Statue of Liberty is a large statue that was donated to the United States by France in the late 19th century on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of American independence. Today, the statue is a symbol of America.
The 7 sharp objects at the crest of the Statue of Liberty represent the 7 oceans and 7 continents of the world and represent a universal concept of freedom.
It cost $ 500,000 to build the statue of Liberty, which is $ 10 million today.

Probably one of the best museum experiences ever! Even though it was small, it has been done really well. To get up the monument and torch you need to prebook tickets. Go late September and the queues will be shorter. Ticket includes ferry ride. Make sure to stop at Ellis island on the way back.

A very good place to visit whether as a tourist or just to get nice fresh air. The boat rice was really pleasant (don't forget to put on your sunscreen) and the view of Manhattan skyline is simply breathtaking. The statue of liberty museum is also very nice. It has a theater room that tells the story of why and how statue of liberty is here, on this island. But the food from the liberty cafe is alright. I got the beast burger which comes with one side (I chose onion rings). The burger itself is good but the onion rings have thick batter is very thick, so instead of being crunchy, it is very hard.

First make sure you set aside a minimum of 3 to 5 hours for a complete tour of the Statue.of Liberty and Ellis islands.. tickets are available at the battery park. And from battery to getting into the ferry it takes around one and a half hours. The ferry ride to the statue of liberty park is fun and exciting. And the views from the ferry both of the Manhattan skyline and the statue are exquisite. The statue of liberty national park has restaurants, a museum shop and if your ticket allows it you can go.right to the top of the statue. There are audio tours available at the park and even if one does not have time tickets to go the top of the statue, a tour of the grounds is exciting as well..

Okay so it all started with me and my girlfriend walking around the whole island, suddenly we heard some weird noises coming from a bush around the corner, we went over to investigate and confronted two kids `discovering` different parts on each others body, to say it short, never been the same after that. However, would recommend going here though, quite a miraculous place.

This statue holds deep symbolic meaning for millions of people inside and outside of the country. If your going on the tour of the statue you should note that the elevator only goes to the base of the statue, to get to the crown you have to take the stairs. The torche isn't open to the public. Ferries heading to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island depart every 15-20 minutes. The first ferry departs at 8:30 am in peak season and 9:00 am in non peak season and the last ferry departs at 4:00 pm in peak season and 3:30 pm in the non peak season.

Once in a lifetime experience. It was very cumbersome to get there but I am glad we made the trip and stuck with it. Please buy your tickets in advance and "reserve" because the line is ridiculous. Either way the line it ridiculous but be prepared to wait double time if you dont reserve. The monument is amazing. well kept. The elevator swerent weren't working when we went but the stairs were great too. Pretty cool to say you did the stairs to the top. Just 195 stairs or something. No big deal :). You take a ferry to the actually island. It gets packed so again..reserve your spots and be sure to go inside the statue of liberty. If you want to do the crown you have to pay for that well in advance. We did the pedestal. Still great.

i love this place. had a wonderful time.

The Statue of Liberty was a joint effort between France and the United States, intended to commemorate the lasting friendship between the peoples of the two nations. The French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi created the statue itself out of sheets of hammered copper, while Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the man behind the famed Eiffel Tower, designed the statue s steel framework. The Statue of Liberty was then given to the United States and erected atop an American-designed pedestal on a small island in Upper New York Bay, now known as Liberty Island, and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in 1886. Over the years, the statue stood tall as millions of immigrants arrived in America via nearby Ellis Island; in 1986, it underwent an extensive renovation in honor of the centennial of its dedication. Today, the Statue of Liberty remains an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy, as well as one of the world s most recognizable landmarks.

Like almost all the guided tours in NY, it would be way more interesting if they dropped the self celebratory attitude and were a bit more realistic about the history of the country.

Great place to hang out with your friends on your day off or if your friends are visiting the city for sure it is a good idea to show them the statue of liberty. Book your trip before making any plans, you gonna save some time and money because there are places that are going to charge you more than usual.

A must-see attraction when you are in NYC. I would say, give this place (entire trip including Ellis Island) at least 4-5 hours from your travel day. In peak tourist season, you'll have long lines to hop onto the ferry. Once on the Liberty Island, you can walk on a circular path around the statue and enjoy beautiful views of the statue and of lower Manhattan. You can go up the statue as well or up to its base, but I find this unnecessary, and you probably won't be able to see anything else during the day. There is a restaurant on the island where you get off the ferry, so you can have a quick snack / meal and relax. I would spend around 1.5-2 hours on this island and around 30-60 minutes on Ellis Island. Give the ferry ride around 20 minutes each way, so a total of 40-45 minutes, and give the ferry lines another 45-120 minutes (total wait time) depending upon the season. So, in peak season, be prepared to allocate to this at least 5 hours from your travel day, and in off season, at least 4 hours. Just so you know, you need to go to Battery Park in Lower Manhattan to take the ferry. And beware of fraudulent people at Battery Park trying to sell you VIP passes that would help you cut through the lines to the ferry. :) Go to an authorized booth or buy your tickets online (that's what I did) and just go straight to the ferry line. And start early! The trip is totally worth it!

Had an amazing experience visiting the Lady of America.. It's located on a small island over the Hudson River which can be reached via ferry from New Jersey or New York which run every 20 mins.. It's full windy with cold chills when I went there in November, do remember to carry proper winter gear if you are planning to visit soon.

It s one thing to see the Statue of Liberty in books and on television but it is quite another to see it live and in person. It is absolutely inspiring! Wow! Beautiful! I enjoyed that the tour was via headsets. We could walk at our own pace and replay portions of the tour as necessary.

New museum was 3.5 -4 and the statue is iconic. Best of the day is at Ellis island. Leave the bulk of the day for Ellis. The Immigration museum is really well done. Kudos to the National Park rangers and support staff who were outside the south ferry subway station directing tourists and were friendly, helpful and informative throughout the park. Visit off season.

It is the statue of liberty, it was awesome I would recommend getting there as early as you can. There is a lot of security to get through. The line for the ferry ride over was extremely long when we arrived back at the park. It wasn't that bad in the morning. We were limited on our time, so we just walked around the island. Didn't stop at Ellis island. There are lots of great photo opportunities there. You can see the city, and of course the statue.

DONT DRIVE AND PARK AT THE FERRY. ITS 75 DOLLARS AND THEY DONT TELL YOU UNTIL YOU LEAVE. it's not advertised and no one in their right mind would ever ever think parking would cost $75 dollars. Beautiful Statue . Everything else was great.

I loved it!! I plan on definitely coming back again to hopefully go inside the museum, the pedestal, and lady liberty herself. Whoever is going to the Statue of Liberty please stay awhile on Ellis island and learn some history I strongly recommend it! And if you want to go in the pedestal and lady liberty I was told you have to plan it 2 weeks in advance and buy the tickets "online" it's the only way in the statue and pedestal. Have fun people!! Its definitely a beautiful experience!!!

I am glad we took a tour and had opportunity to visit this piece of art and NY history. It feels unreal to be there and see this on your own eyes. If you are in NY it is one of the places you should visit.

DEFINITELY reserve your tickets ahead of time to decrease the time waiting in line. Also note that the statue experience includes boarding and riding on a ferry that stops at the statue and then Ellis Island before returning back and thus you should plan a few hours at minimum to simply get close to the statue.

Amazing location with beautiful sights. The ferry takes you to the island and there are different ferry's every hour. There is a guided tour around the island or you can get a map and explore it by yourself. Definitely visit when in New York.

There is nothing like see this beauty up close. I regret not having the stamina to do both Lady Liberty and Ellis Island but to be on the boat ride and stopping off to view Lady Liberty was wonderful.
They also have, for free, audio that you take with you as you walk the island and it explains the history

What can you say about the Statue? Besides the fact that she's absolutely stunning! It was an experience that we will never forget. I would recommend to anyone who is visiting New York, to make the time to come and see her. She has stood here in the harbor welcoming people from across the world for years, and she will welcome you as well! Take the time, to make the visit. You will not regret it.

A most in your NYC trip, and even if you are a local you need to do it. I will strongly recommend you to do the crown tour, since it will include the ferry, and crown and pedestal access, also the Ellis Island trip. It's around 21 USD but you need to book like 2, 3 or even more months in advance. You won't regret of paying those extra 5 bucks. You need to buy the tickets online, bring the reservation number and the credit card and then go to the ticket office to pick them.

One final recommendation, you should come as early as possible in the morning that way the ferry and the hole island is almost empty.

Climbed to the crown, need to get tickets months in advance but worth it. Was awesome to see the inside of the statue as well as view out of the crown windows. National Park staff were awesome, super friendly and helpful

Everybody knows about this iconic monument. I have lost count how many times I have seen this in movies and it was surreal to be standing right beneath it in person. Perfect weather on the day of visit and would definitely recommend this place to everyone as it is worth the ferry trip!

I would recommend to take a ferry to the Liberty Island, where Statue of the Liberty is, if you have a day in New York. It's interesting that some people found it smaller than they expected, and some say it is large when they get closer. Which would you think?

The most iconic of all the New York Landmarks. Take a short ferry ride frim Battery Park to get there. They have security screening so make sure to check the site on what you can and cannot bring there. The site is magnificent and very well taken care of. They are building and adding new areas here that will be open in the future so it will be even better. Make sure if you want to go up in the crown that you make your reservation and buy the tickets well ahead of time as they are not available the day or even week of.

NYC has some truly awesome structures. The statue is amazingly huge in person. Scale that's just lost on those movie flyovers.

They need to do a better job of clarifying that the pass you buy has tiers. Grounds only gets you in the island. That is the only tier you can walk up and buy. The statue tier let's you go into the pedestal. And crown passes are the observation deck in the crown. Those are reserved way out btw.

Lastly the ferries fill up fast. Find seats Quickly if you want them. They have enough seating for about a quarter of the ships capacity. If you're wanting a view of the statue, be on the starboard side of the boat on the way to the statue and the port side on the way back. I also reccomend the aft section of the ship. The wind cuts pretty bad on the water. There are plenty of places on the second deck aft section to take shelter while still getting a good view.

Easily the most famous landmark for NYC, the Statue of Liberty is located on an island that is only accessible through Statue Cruises. There is an observation deck on the crown of the statue, but it requires the purchase of a separate (and more expensive ticket) that is usually sold out. Worse yet, the crown tour is highly weather dependent and your expensive ticket may be cancelled without refund due to weather. Otherwise, the small island takes about 30 minutes of brisk walking to circle. The items at the gift shop is over-priced and you can easily pick up Statue of Liberty swags from any of the gift shops in NYC. If you just want to see the Statue of Liberty, I highly recommend riding the free Staten Island Ferry that passes by the statue.

You cannot miss going to the Statue of Liberty if you're coming to New York. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance if you want to go to the pedestal level. Crown tickets are sold out months in advance so if you want to go up to the crown, make sure you reserve from two to three months ahead of time. Crown tickets are very limited to a certain number of people per day.

Most Iconic place in NY or even the US. If you do not take a picture here when you are NYC the that trip is wasted. The best thing is to park in NJ boat area and take. Boat over to Statue of Liberty if you are not planning for NYC trip, the parking in NYC is crazy and not worth the money. What we did was park in NJ and went to NYC on the return boat and for their walked around NYC, enjoyed the citi and by evening took a train from Penn to the NJ side and took a taxi cost me half of parking and could see NYC without having to fine parking at every location. We could even go in to any restaurant when we needed and even to Empire State Building without worry of car.

Going to the Statue of Liberty is a really great day trip. The ferry ride is short & scenic with a small snack shop on board. Liberty Island is spacious with restaurants, gift shops, museums, a lawn for picnics and of course the huge Statue of Liberty.
