NYC has some truly awesome structures. The statue is amazingly huge in person. Scale that's just lost on those movie flyovers.

They need to do a better job of clarifying that the pass you buy has tiers. Grounds only gets you in the island. That is the only tier you can walk up and buy. The statue tier let's you go into the pedestal. And crown passes are the observation deck in the crown. Those are reserved way out btw.

Lastly the ferries fill up fast. Find seats Quickly if you want them. They have enough seating for about a quarter of the ships capacity. If you're wanting a view of the statue, be on the starboard side of the boat on the way to the statue and the port side on the way back. I also reccomend the aft section of the ship. The wind cuts pretty bad on the water. There are plenty of places on the second deck aft section to take shelter while still getting a good view.
