Must do for all when in the city. Easy to get to through statue cruises. Just make sure to buy tickets in advance (up to 3 months if you want to go the crown). Takes about 3 hours max if you go to crown and visit museums

This is a classic monument to see in NYC. We went early in the morning (about 9) and I would say that it was a great time to go because it wasn't too hot and it wasn't really packed. We didn't book tickets far enough in advance to go all the way up, but the view from the island itself is fantastic and you can see so much of the city, including how the different islands are broken up.
The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986.
I don't think statue of liberty needs a description. A must go place if you are in America. The statue looks beautiful. The history of Statue of Liberty is interesting too. I have seen the statue many times during my stay in New York but I read the history of Statue during my this visit. Fun Fact "when france gifted Statue of Liberty to America, it was copper brown colored"
I went to the crown of Lady Liberty and it was an amazing view and i went to Liberty Island the second time in night time and i like the light inside the crown of Lady Liberty.
A must stop for history buffs. Trace family histories using their new genealogy database. Book a trip to the top of the Statue of Liberty. Must book months in advance to tour the crown in the Statue of Liberty.
I got tickets up to the pedestal only. There are toilets before you queue up to go up. Get your free audio guide and use it. Bring your own ear buds for greater comfort and convenience. Make sure you get the official tickets which include the ferry rides to this place and Ellis Island and return to your start. There is no need to pay for other types of guided tours. Join the free ranger tours for an informative time. Allow about 2 hours or more here. Do visit the museum and walk around the island with your audio guide.
A one of a kind experience, the historical tours and museum are informative and the statue offers a unique view of New York unrivalled by any other experience in the city. A must visit for tourists.
Amazing. It was once the tallest building in NYC, but the sheer design of this statue, the way she stands alone and the location just to look at from below is breath taking. Can be cold so wrap up warm. Also if you do want to climb into the crown you have to book in advance. Check out the website, make sure you take your passport, and be prepared to walk up a narrow stair case.
Alternatively you can just get the elevator to the pedestal and enjoy the view from the balcony. Obvs can get busy.
Recommend visiting the museum where there s lots of stuff going on and home to the original flame and sculpture which was replaced: enjoy.
Statue of Liberty National Monument is visited in June 2014 with Family, a very nice and beautiful place to enjoy. To go to this place you have to go by boat tour.
Is there anything more iconic than this statue? There are many ways to visit this, but I recommend skipping the long lines and crowds and taking the last ferry from pier 36 that stops for picture taking at a few locations and returns to the same spot. We rode on the majestic princess and had a wonderful guided tour of the harbor. There was comfortable seating and food for sale. We watched the sunset and saw Lady Liberty lit up. We will always remember this experience.
Did the several hundred steps all the way to the crown observation deck. Gorgeous view, but *that* is one heck of a workout and a squeeze to get there. Whew! Worth it :)
A must see if you are going to New York City. The only problem is the long long wait to get onto a boat that takes you to the island. You'll have people try to see you other trips that don't take you to the island with the catch that you don't have to wait hours in line. If you feel that waiting isn't your strong suit than go ahead but you'll miss out on the view and history. You get free audio guides on the island.
We had a wonderful experience at the Statue of Liberty. I went online months before going to NYC and purchased crown tickets. We arrived round 8:15 on the morning of our visit at Castle Clinton at Battery Park and picked up our crown wristbands at Will Call. We then went to the security line. It was very long but moved extremely fast. We then had to wait to get on the ferry and were able to get on the second one. Total wait to board and leave was about 20m or so. Getting off of the boat at Liberty Island was easy and fast. We went immediately to the pedestal and went through additional security. At this point we had to rent a locker to store our backpack as they are not allowed into the pedestal or crown. It was $2.00 and was easy. We then went into the pedestal and took an elevator up to the main viewing area (stairs are an option). Finally we waited about 10m and were allowed to start walking the stairs up to the crown. The walk up took about 15m and we stayed in the crown for about 5m or so. Rangers were up there to give us history about the statue and to answer questions. This is such a neat and unique trip and I would recommend for anybody who is able to walk up stairs and is okay with small (not tiny) spaces.
America at its best. The only drawback here is the intense security. Otherwise, the statue and tour are great. Better to come on a rainy day with fewer crowds. Bring dollar bills for lockers if you have a backpack. Pedestal tour is a good economical option and take the stairs, not the elevator for faster access.
Guided tour was well worth it. Early 9am meet trips are a 100% must! We went end January 2019. The boat out was very quiet, by 12.00pm it was a different story. The views of NYC are also amazing from the pedestal
Traveling out here by boat is a really good experience. The Park rangers are doing free tours throughout the day, and they are really good. We paid to go to the very top. That is not a must, but a funny trip.
The museum added in May 2019 is great! It's separate from the pedestal so you can still see it if you weren't able to get pedestal access. They let you touch pieces in the museum!
If you go and want to experience the view from the crown, plan ahead and buy tickets online with much lead time as possible. You can get to the pedestal by elevator but you would have to use the staircase similar to one inside lighthouse to reach the crown. Seems like the ferry from NJ seemed to be less crowded than the ferry from NY side. It's a great place of history to visit. Iconic statue that most people relate with NY and USA.
View is excellent from cruise. If you are buying city pass make sure you buy pedestal and crown tickets separately. Sometimes it's hard to get on the spot tickets.
An amazing experience, I really recommend you add it to your visit itinerary. FYI- -lines are long, make sure to get your tickets online ahead of time. -get there early, line starts forming really early in the morning. -check in before the ferry is just like at the airport, if you want to move quickly just don't take anything you might not need. -go to the website for tickets to the crown, depending on the time it may be smart to reserve your tickets ahead of your visit. I went this December and there was no tickets until January.
Nothing new say to about it. Two way to do this tour. One is Liberty cruise which will around you Manhattan based on center of Staue of Liberty. It is one hr tour but really worth. Anotjer one book a ticket from battery park and land into island via crouse. Both are worth. If you are planning advance dont forget book Access Crown ticket.Must see. Do not leave the park without doing the Audio tour. It provides an overview of the area sort of like a story through time. I leaner so much. Picking up the audio tour should be the first thing u do when u get out of the boat. Then start walking around it clockwise. Is extra cold out there so if ur in winter, wear many layers
Beautiful Place, amazing pictures here is one picture. This is where NY became one of the most populated, and Iconic cities of all time! I recommend you go here.
First thing before you start make sure to look at the weather, the first time we went there it was raining and the top of the statue was covered with clouds..but if the visibility is right it's a beautiful sight. I went up to the pedestal, a very nice view from up there. Am sure the view is even better from the crown. We got our tickets online, but I guess buying the tickets even at the spot is good idea. The staff are everywhere and quite helpful with directions. The island has Starbucks so that's a big plus. It's a magnificent statue and no picture can do justice to the beauty of the statue as seen live. A must visit place
Looks taller than we see in movies or news. The sight is very beautiful. You can see Liberty from far away your way to this statue. I can imagine the immigrants coming for across the ocean and seeing this Beautiful tribute to the land of the freedom. . There is one garden which is well maintained and one can witness amazing view of Manhattan, New York bridge. Before going there. just read the history about it.
Fun experience. Bought the boat ride to the island and walked around. Was a bit chilly, and extra windy because it's an island. Dress warm during the winter.
I went to Liberty island in Oct2018. I wanted to go up crown head but my reservation was too late. Crown ticket was blocked until Dec!! So I got a pedestal ticket. It was still nice view. If you go up to crown, book ticket early as much as you can!
Another must if you visit NY, but pre-book online or be prepared to queue, travel light too if your going up to the pedistal or crown as there are not many lockers for the volume of people that are going up and many lockers do not work.
This is a must see places to go in nyc the statue of liberty and Ellis island. For the statue of liberty You have to book 3 months in advance to see the crown tour . The price is fair$$ .must get there early if you want to beat the rush hour. Make sure you eat something before you enter the boat its stupidly over price lol
Amazing place, I had a lot of fun there. I went all the way up to the crown. Please wear sneakers if you want to go up to the crown, there is a lot of stairs to climb.
It was like a dream come true. A lifetime experience breathtaking views and statue was so mesmerizing that I fall in love with it. Going there was fun and adventure too. In a ferry, landing there spending time taking photographs and learning about the history was great experience. I loved it there were so many people though it was too cold. Everyone so happy and excited to see this monument.
I have to admit it looks much smaller in real life. Finally scratched it off the bucket list though!! Would still recommend just not in December it was raining and very cold.
Everything expected. Love the attention the Park service pays to make sure it is engaging, educational, and clean. Should be every American's goal to get there.
The freeroam tour was amazing, feeling the presence of the statue, all while being an an island that actually isnt completely full to the brim with tourists was even better. Additionally, the museum was free entry once on the island, and it had great informational videos about Lady Liberty regarding her origins, construction, and meaning... all of which are more relevant because she is on the same island you are.
Great Tour of Our Freedom Lady's History! Got to go up on the Pedestal of Lady Liberty! Theres a little walk throu Museum and gift shop! Great view of Water and NYC!
It such a great view, loved walking around the statue. Plus they have multiple snack vendors and drinks and places to sit. So you can rest up from all the walking
The Ellis Island Immigration Center and Liberty Island Ferry is a must see in NYC. Ellis Island Museum contains photos and stories from the period when it was the entry way into the US from 1892 until 1954. But it's a lot of photos, films and recordings so if you find that stuff dry maybe give it a miss. Nice boat ride though and walking around Liberty Island and hearing via audio guide included in the $18.50 combo Liberty Island and Ellis Island cruise about the history of how the monument was conceived and constructed was very interesting. On Ellis Island we got a bad National Park Guide though. Doug Treem or similar was his name. His talk was more of a American nationalistic propaganda speech than informational. We did learn (from the signage) that 12 million people came through Ellis Island Immigration Center in the 62 years it was open. Doug claimed 13 million and said that 3,000 people a day was average, and 5,000 if it was busy. But hang on, do the maths and it's less than 600 a day. He also said that it only closed 1 to 2 days a year. A lot of the talk was hype and so it seems the numbers he quoted were beefed up by orders of magnitude. All other NPS tour guides I've met on this trip have been great.
Beautiful place with great history The museum is very informative The fairy to the monument is after every 40 minutes which is good time to see the monument, museum, click some photos
This place is amazingly tall, can t imagine how long it took the build it and how dangerous the construction work would be. This would also be loads of money, if you know the history of this please like and send me it because that would be very useful to know. Also why did they build it? Because you would not just build it for fun.
The attraction itself was great, the only thing I didn't like, which will be the focus of this review, is the guard I encountered in the security checkpoint leading to the ferry. I had a brand new sealed bottle of water which I asked him to inspect because I didn't want to run it through the x-ray machine. He wouldn't even touch it, he said "everything has to go through the machine" To those who don't know, the radiation from the x-ray machine is *NOT* food safe. You literally ingest low levels of radiation when you eat/drink any food items exposed to that device. And rather than take 2 seconds to look at a sealed, transparent bottle of water I was forced to throw it away. I understand that it's just a bottle of water, but it's the laziness, lack of training and courtesy that really got my sightseeing off on the wrong foot. I understand that a million people are going through there, but in all honesty if you can't work with people or bother to do your job the way you're supposed to there are plenty of jobs where you don't have to deal with people directly, find one!
A must see, even for a New Yorker. Remember, you must make crown Tix many weeks in advance! Make sure you use the real website, not the ones charging extra booking fee.
The Best Monument Ever I Seen In A Life, It Was Like A Dream Come True. A Lifetime Experience BeathTaking Views And Statue Was So Memorizing That I Fall In Love With It. Going There Was Fun And Adventure Too.
Iconic, historical, and I'm so glad I was able to bring my children. Security is top notch so expect that process to be long. This is a very popular tour spot so expect long lines and wait time but it's worth it once you get there. It's surreal.
Waouh !! Nice visit at the Statue of Liberty. The cruise was good and the place is so nice. We enjoyed our day to visit the pedestal of the Statue. We'll come back when our kids reach 13 years old and come into the torch !!
Iconic and magnificent place, is a well spent money to visit this landmark. I recommend the trip and the location. Be prepare for long line before security.
Beautiful french architecture ..we visited last year. If you are interested in internal structure book for liberty crown. We went to top of status .. beautiful newyork city view from crown ..loved this place
Worth every penny of the $20 a person to get on the ferry and go over there to it it was just beautiful to be at the park on a hot day plenty of water Breeze blowing on you must do when you visit New York
Plan ahead as I was not able to get tickets to get inside the statue. The security line did take about 30 minutes and the boat waits about 20 min before taking off on the 15 min ride. There are bathrooms on the boat but many were closed. Snacks available too but the cafe on liberty island looked to be a much better option. The visitor museum on the hill was super fun for me and my 5 year old. They have history of, original torch and interactive display with photos! You really need to give yourself more time than expected to err enjoy the views and wait for the next boat. We rushed through both island with 10am tickets to get back at 430pm.
Statue of Liberty is a National Monument of USA which is one of the Seven wonders of the world . Statue of Liberty is in New York and one of the interesting places of tourist interest. It is well connected by Taxi boats and Statue Cruises and Circle line Sightseeing Cruises. It is a very beautiful Liberty Statue at New York which is one of the most attraction place of tourists interest travelling Sightseeing Cruises from New york and New Jersey cities. Two days we visited Statue of Liberty from New York and second time from New Jersy. Statue of Liberty one can reach the statue by lift services One can see the Close view of Statue of Liberty. and also the view of twin cities New York and New Jersey. It is nicely maintained with resturent and food stall, restrooms , baggage safes, museum and Liberty Statue Store . We had a great time with family at wonderful place - Liberty Statue , New York ,USA
As a local, visiting the Statue of Liberty was not part of my bucket list. However once my boyfriend, now husband from Alabama came to meet the fam, we did a NY landmark tour and we truly enjoyed our visit. It was easy to get to by ferry from the subway stop and very fast ferry ride to Ellis Island, which we really enjoyed. There's so much history that we've been taking for granted.
Great value for the price. One of the best and most affordable attractions in NYC. Highly recommend. Took the tour for $18.50- beware of other ticket and tour sellers for a lot more, such as $31.50. They try to get you on the street before you get to the ticket office at the main pier.....
How can you not see the Statue of Liberty when visiting NYC. Great views of NYC and the harbor on the boat out there. There are a couple things to keep in mind. This will take you at least half a day to go to the island. Once you go through security, go to liberty island, and another trip to Ellis island, it does take a chunk of time. Also make sure to book well in advanced if you plan to go in the base of the crown
Summer or winter trip, this is an amazing site to visit. Family friendly. The ferry is a fun travel experience. Great opportunity for a bit of excercise climbing the steps (or you can ride the elevator). The view is unrestricted and beautiful. Many wonderful picture opportunities. ** Be aware that the original Ghostbusters movie gives a false sense of her actual size.
