Easily the most famous landmark for NYC, the Statue of Liberty is located on an island that is only accessible through Statue Cruises. There is an observation deck on the crown of the statue, but it requires the purchase of a separate (and more expensive ticket) that is usually sold out. Worse yet, the crown tour is highly weather dependent and your expensive ticket may be cancelled without refund due to weather. Otherwise, the small island takes about 30 minutes of brisk walking to circle. The items at the gift shop is over-priced and you can easily pick up Statue of Liberty swags from any of the gift shops in NYC. If you just want to see the Statue of Liberty, I highly recommend riding the free Staten Island Ferry that passes by the statue.
